Charles A. Mize

Charles A. Mize, 75, of Campbell died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born on April 27, 1929, the son of the late Charles Anderson Mize Sr. and Lenora Winberry Mize.

He was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Sunnyvale General Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Mize of Campbell; one daughter, Lisa Dunham and husband, Jeff, of Holcomb; one son, Michael Mize and wife, Kim, of Campbell; three grandsons, Taylor Mize, Dillon Mize and Ethan Dunham.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell with Rev. Anthony Dowdy officiating. Burial followed in Berger Cemetery in Oglesville, Mo. Landess Funeral Home, Inc., of Campbell was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Elizabeth Herring

Mary Elizabeth Herring, 74, of Dexter, Mich., died Oct. 6, 2004, at her home.

She was born on July 12, 1930, in Greenway, the daughter of the late John Frank and Ethel Mae Hodgson Smith.

She married Logan Ray Herring on February 12, 1949.

She is survived by her husband, Ray; two daughters, Linda (Leo) LeRoy and Retha (Bruce) Hansen; one son, Michael Herring; grandchildren, Lee LeRoy, Monica Hansen Benton and Brett Hansen; three older sisters, Susie Frederick of Arnold, Mo., Nancy Key of South Haven, Mich. and Delora Turner Blumenauer of Dumont, Colo.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 11, in Dexter, Mich. Burial was at Washtenong Memorial Park.

Charles "Cowboy" J. Dickens

Charles "Cowboy" J. Dickens, 55, of Campbell died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born June 17, 1949, in Campbell, the son of James Dawsey and Emma Lorene Haynes Dickens.

He was united in marriage to Donna Sue Long on Jan. 6, 1978, in Campbell.

Mr. Dickens was a retired factory worker and a United States Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Beechwell General Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emma Dickens; one brother, Earl Leo Dickens; one sister, Emma Jean Dickens; and one grandson, Tyler Dewayne Umfress.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Sue Dickens of Campbell; five sons, Daniel Earl Long of Dexter, Danny Scott Long of Hot Springs, David Lynn Long of Fenton, Mo., and fiancee Melanie Jackson, Charles Adam Dickens and wife, Lisa, of Campbell and John J. Dickens of Campbell and fiancee Crystal Randleman; three daughters, Amy Rene Shore and husband, Greg, of Campbell, Brenda Kaye Akridge and husband, Clinton, of Campbell and Dawn J. Dickens of Kennett and fiancee Brian Reeves; 11 grandchildren, Autumn, Hannah, Dustin, Taylor, David Jr., Cody, Arburey, Morgan, McKenzie, Spirit and Chase; one sister, Mary Alice Melton and husband, Bill, of Piggott; one brother, Lloyd Franklin "Doc" Dickens and wife, Myrtle, of Clarkton; two nieces, Wanda Lewis of Little Rock and Joella Dickens of Piggott; two nephews, Dusty Shane Skaggs of Piggott and Marvin Mills of St. Genevieve, Mo.; a good friend, Terry Umfress; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, in the Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell with Rev. Tony Wood officiating. Burial followed in Elder Cemetery in Campbell.

Landess Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.

Cledith Franklin Redman

Cledith Franklin Redman, 90, of Piggott died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at his home.

He was born on February 6, 1914, in Cooter, Mo., the son of the late Abe Redman and Minnie Belle Hurst.

He was a retired auto worker and a Veteran of World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five sisters, three brothers an one grandchild.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Lee Redman of the home; four sons, Cletis Troy Redman and wife, Johnna, of Piggott, Douglas Abraham Redman and wife, Kathy, of Milan, Mich., Rickie Arron Redman and wife, Sharon, and Kenneth Wade Redman and wife, Linda, all of South Lyon, Mich; one daughter, Verna Lee Hatfield of Piggott, twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Bradshaw officiating. Burial was in the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway.

Pallbearers were Aaron Redman, Adam Redman, Jess Hatfield, Brandon Redman, Nick Redman and Gary Phillips. Honorary pallbearer was Joe Hatfield.

Eathel Phillips

Eathel Phillips, 80, of Michigan City, Ind., formerly of McDougal, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in MIchigan City.

She was born on May 15, 1924, in McDougal, the daughter of the late William and Clara-Fusion Hayes Nicholson.

She was united in marriage to Edward A. Phillips on March 7, 1941. They had four sons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Phillips in 1995; one son, Michael Edward Phillips in 1963; one brother, Chester Nicholson; and one sister, Effie Blakeburn.

She is survived by three sons, Dennis Phillips and wife, Sandi, of Michigan City, Aaron Philips of O'Fallon, Mo., and Larry Phillips of Arnold, Mo.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Loy Culver officiating. Burial followed in Post Oak Cemetery in McDougal. Pallbearers were J.R. Pace, Ray White, Delmar Rigdon, Warner Kilbreath, Devon Young, Robert Welty and Wayne Allman.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Joyce H. Underwood

Joyce H. Underwood, 74, of Piggott died Saturday, July 30, 2005, in Murphy Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 23, 1931, in Cardwell, Mo., the daughter of the late George and Bertha Partain Harmon.

She was united in marriage to Charles Underwood on Sept. 14, 1951. They had three children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Faye Johnston and Chlorah Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Underwood of Piggott; three children, Charles William Underwood and wife, Diane, of Memphis, Nancy Holder and husband, John, of Conway and John Steven Underwood of Piggott; two grandchildren, Katie Holder and Rob Holder, both of Conway; four brothers, Robert A. Harmon of Cardwell, Mo., Howard Harmon of Herculaneum, Mo., Roger Harmon of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and John Harmon of Clarksville, Mo.; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Richard Akins officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Holder, Rob Holder, Steve Underwood, Chuck Underwood, Bob Tidwell and Verlin Moffitt.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Paragould Children's Home.

Ralph Lindon Brandon

Ralph Lindon Brandon, 81, of Norman, Okla., died on July 7, 2005, at the Norman Regional Hospital in Norman.

He was born on April 14, 1924, at Boydsville, the son of the late Lonnie and Lizzie (Branson) Brandon.

Mr. Brandon was united in marriage to Wanda West on Oct. 7, 1943, in Rector. They were married for 61 years before his passing. He worked as a manufacturing engineer. When he retired in 1966, he was working with LaCroix Optical Inc. as a quality control engineer in Batesville.

Mr. and Mrs. Brandon had moved to the Norman area from Batesville on June 21, 2005, to be closer to their son, Ron, and his wife, Evelyn, who reside in Norman. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and especially his woodworking shop.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda of the home; his son, Ron Brandon and wife, Evelyn, of Norman; one brother, Conrad Brandon of Pocahontas, Tenn.; two sisters, Nadine Beckley of Michigan and Laverne Garis of Arkansas; five grandchildren, Jennifer Mayfield, Kevin Brandon, and Allison, Alicia and Matthew Lees; three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Jacob and Walton; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2005, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Chapel in Noble, Okla., with Chaplain Mike Bumgarner officiating. Burial followed in Noble 100F Cemetery in Noble, Okla.

Memorial Chapel Funeral Service of Noble was in charge of the arrangements.

Lousie Loyd

Louise Loyd, 71, of Piggott died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, in the St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born May 21, 1934, in Athens, Ala., the daughter of the late John and Bessie Gatlin Andrew.

She was united in marriage to Arthur Loyd on Sept. 20, 1952. They had four children.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur Loyd of Piggott; four children, Elizabeth Annette Hill of Grapevine, Ark., Judith Diane Block and husband, Bob, of Rolla, Mo., Arthur Loyd Jr. and wife, Monica, of Pocahontas and Lisa May Loyd of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, David Lee Hill, James Woody Dale, Cindy Jean Brooksher, Bobby Block, Anna Alicia Loyd and Elizabeth Carrie Victoria Loyd; eight great-grandchildren, Jamie Brown, Mitchell Eskenlotta, Brandi Nichole Skaggs, Lacy Lee Hill, David Lee Hill Jr., Zachary Dale, Dallas Dale and Logan Dale; three sisters and two brothers, Mildred Weeks and Evelena McClullar of Forrest City, Bettie Jean Stewart of Rector, Milton Andrew of Mississippi and Alton Andrew of California; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, in the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Piggott with Rev. Danny Self and Eldon Parrish officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Pallbearers were Dewey Holcomb, Lonnie Harmon, Donald Wilkes, Jimmy Dale, David Hill and Linwood Vanneater.

Winona Marchella Shelton Kegley

Winona Marcella Shelton Kegley, 84, of Piggott died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, in the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.

She was born on June 20, 1921, in Holcomb, the daughter of the late W.R. and Willard Bailey Shelton.

She was united in marriage to Rev. Lloyd Kegley on May 28, 1938. They had four children. He preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1994.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Percilla Kegley; four brothers, Lloyd, Bud, Pearl and Elton Shelton; and two sisters, Ada Shelton and Stella Prince.

She was a member of the Hopewell General Baptist Church and served the Lord by taking care of others.

She is survived by two sons, Earl Kegley and wife, Janice, of Piggott and Dewayne Kegley and wife, Henry, of Marked Tree; one daughter, Linda Henderson and husband, Roy, of Nesbit, Miss.; six grandchildren, Jeffery Kegley, Janna Kegley, Julie Kegley, Valarie Green, Lisa Lee and Natalie Shaw; five great-grandchildren, Trip Doyle, Cody Doyle, Zachary Shaw, Sarah Green and Olivia Green; one brother, Ferrell Shelton; five sisters, Cinderella Ballentine, Lela Kegley, Alma Pollard, Mozella Show and Joyce Burke; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, in the Hopewell General Baptist Church in Greenway with Rev. Lavone Smart and Rev. Boyd Wicker officiating. Burial followed in Lynn Oak Cemetery near Clarkton. Pallbearers were J.T. Moody, Sam Williams, Byron Hill, Jimmy Show, Albert Dale Pollard and Dale Kegley.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Manuel N. Brady

Manuel N. Brady, 84, of Rector, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, in the St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was born on June 11, 1921, in Pollard, the son of the late Richard Lawton and Tennie May Nicholas Brady.

He was united in marriage to Dortha Sue Renard on Jan. 20, 1940. They had seven children. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2000.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel Brady and Oliver Brady; two sisters, Florence Knuckles and Ethel Wilkes; and one great-grandson, Justin Allen Alsup.

He was a member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.

He is survived by three sons, Bobby Wayne Brady of Rector, Richard "Rick" Henry Brady of Paragould and Charles Daniel Brady of Rector; four daughters, Margie Louise Richardson of Paragould, Wilma Sharon Small of Rector, Betty Fay Small of Rector and Linda Mae Bridges of Paragould; 30 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with David Dodd and Donny Morris officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Rector. Pallbearers were Andy Small, Linal Dodd, Harold Small, Heath Brady, Steven Lamar and Chris Brady.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
