Billy C. Lamb
O'FALLON, Mo. - Billy C. Lamb, 74, of O'Fallon, Mo., died April 2, 2006. He was a native of Antoine and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in O'Fallon.

Survivors include: A son: Billy M. Lamb of O'Fallon, Mo.; two daughters: Mary Overton of Winston, Mo., and Jana Obrigewitch of Rosamond, Calif.; two brothers: Dexter Lamb of Norfolk, Va., and Benny Arnold of Curtis; and a sister, Donetta Rodgers of Curtis.

Graveside service is at 1 p.m. Saturday, in Harts Chapel Cemetery near Curtis.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday at Horne Funeral Home in Gurdon. Local arrangements by Horne Funeral Home.

Bessie V. Russell
SPARKMAN - Bessie Vann Russell, 82 of Sparkman died April 5, 2006, at the Twin Rivers Health and Rehab. She was born Oct. 18, 1923, in Dallas County, the daughter of the late Alver B. and Martha Ann Hogue Vann. She was a housewife and a member of the Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl D. Russell and three brothers.

Survivors include one sister, Earline Langley of Leola; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Rev. Marvin Launius and Rev. David Dillard officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Josie K. Newburn
ARKADELPHIA - Josie Ella Knox Newburn known to many as "Moma Josie," 104, died Monday, April 3, 2006, in Twin River Health and Rehabilitation Center, Arkadelphia.

She was born Sept. 17, 1901, to Robert and Mary Helen Jones Knox. She was a member of Mt. Morriah Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the Missionary Society treasurer, a choir member, Mother's Board, member of Order of Eastern Star Universal Evergreen Verbena Chapter 192.

She was married to Rev. Joseph S. Newburn, January 2, 1920, to this union there were 13 children born. Moma Josie was a midwife, community leader, and she served as first lady of the Mt. Morriah Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Joseph S. Newburn; four sons, Henry L. Newburn, Maurice Newburn, Rev. Franklin Newburn, Albert Newburn; and one daughter, Carola Newburn Wilson; 10 siblings, Robert Knox, Bea Knox, Callie Knox, Lee Knox, Jacob Knox, Christene Knox, Mary J. Newburn, Vasie Gilmore, Zeola Hill, and Effie Rogers.

She leaves to remember her life, five sons, Willie (Mattie) Newburn, J. V. Newburn, and Rev. James S. Newburn of Arkadelphia, Rev. Douglas P. Newburn of Portland, Ore., Carl Newburn of Grady; three daughters, Flossie Morgan of Malvern, Evelyn Harrison, Maureen (Freddie) Owens of Arkadelphia, daughter-in-law, Brenda Newburn of Malvern, one sister Mattie Adams of Detroit, Michigan, one brother, Odis Knox of Arkadelphia, 46 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, 28 great-great grandchildren, one adopted son Billy (Patricia) Walsh of Dallas, Texas and one adopted daughter Dorothy Luster of Arkadelphia.

Public visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Mt. Morriah Missionary Baptist Church, 626 Mt. Morriah Road, Arkadelphia.

A celebration of her life will be Saturday, April 8, 2006, at 12 noon in Mt. Morriah Missionary Baptist Church, Arkadelphia, Rev. Vernon Moody Sr. officiating. The committal service and final resting place will be in the Newburn Family Cemetery.

Elzia Garner
GURDON - Elzia Garner, 75 of Gurdon, died April 4, 2006. He was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Antoine. Elzia and Mary Lou who were married 55 years, lived at Beirne most of their life and will be buried at Beirne cemetery. They had three children, Jimmy Garner of Gurdon, and Pat Leverton and husband Rick, and Sarah, of Kirby and Frankie of Nashville, Mary Anne Baker husband Ronnie and Kyli all of Gurdon five grandchildren, Jennifer Francis of Fayetteville, Justin and Elizabeth Garner of Gurdon, Katie Rutledge and Family Bobby Kane and Chase of Arkadelphia.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Brown Cemetery at Beirne with Bro. Frank Hensen officiating. Pallbearers from Beirne Baptist Church.

Special friends are Jerry and Mary Jane Wilson and Clois Dickey. God's greatest blessing on them.

Elsie T. Sullivan
CANEY - Elsie Jones Thacker Sullivan, 89, of Caney died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Beverly Healthcare. She was born Nov. 23, 1916, in Hot Spring County, the daughter of the late William Thomas and Leona Garner Jones. She was a housewife and a member of the Bismarck Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Clifton Thacker and Jesse Sullivan, and one son, Elvin Thacker.

Survivors include: Three daughters, Edith Jones of Kermit, Texas, Erma Sue Barnes and husband, Doyle of Dubberly, La., and Brenda Collie of Caney; one daughter-in-law, Earlene Thacker of Caney; three brothers, Raymond Jones of Caney, Charles Jones of Malvern and Henry Jones of Kermit, Texas; one sister, Hazel Thrash of Lakeview, Ore.; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren; two special caregivers, Sue Pasley and Andrea Yerby.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday April 8, 2006, at Bismarck Pentecostal Church with Rev. Van Glidewell and Rev. Maurice Burroughs officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Bower Cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Grandsons will be pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Gary Gehrki and staff of Beverly Heathcare.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Sybil H. Wrinkle

SHERIDAN - Sybil F. Henderson Wrinkle, 77, of Sheridan, formerly of Arkadelphia, died Friday, April 7, 2006. She was born Sept. 12, 1928, in Pisgah, the daughter of the late James Arthur and Haddie Harris Henderson. She was a retired employee of Levi Strauss and the Arkadelphia school system. She was a member of the Delight Baptist Church and was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeff Ruchalski. She was a very devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Wrinkle; two sons, Thomas Buck and wife, Cheryl of Delight and James Buck of Royse City, Texas, and his special friend, Kathy Buck of Rowlett, Texas; two daughters, Brenda Hardin and husband, Don of Sheridan and Judy Ruchalski and husband, Mike of Delight; one sister, Winnona Kelly of Troup, Texas; six grandchildren five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services was Sunday at Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Rev. Mike Walton and Rev. Terry Williams officiating. Interment will be in Delight Cemetery.

Elizabeth D. Ford
ENTERPRISE, Ala. - Elizabeth Kay Dyals Ford, 54, of Enterprise, Ala., died April 7, 2006, at a Dothan hospital. She was born Sept 24, 1951, in Hot Springs, the daughter of the late Fred B. and Freddie Looper Dyals. She was a graduate of Bismarck High School

Survivors include her husband, Robert Joseph Ford Sr.; two sons, Robert Joseph Ford Jr. of Dothan, Ala., and Matthew J. Ford of Daphne, Ala.; her mother, Freddie Dyals of Bismarck; one brother, Garry Dyals of Tennessee; four sisters, Joy Adams and Penny McClenahan both of Bismarck, Mary Overton of Jackson, Miss., and May Doubet of Hot Springs; and two grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Beaton Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Looper and Rev. Gary Hardage officiating. Burial will be in Beaton Cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ray Coston
ROYAL - Ray Coston, 55, of Royal, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006. He was born on Nov. 3, 1950, at Malvern, the son of Edward Ray Coston and Betty Sue Collins (Coston) Stover. On June 1, 1975, he was married to Sandy Sirmon.

Ray graduated from Arkadelphia High School in 1968, Henderson State University with his business degree and his masters degree in sociology in 1974 and the FBI Academy in 1993. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Garland County Fair Board, 32nd Degree Mason, Garland County Cattleman's Association, Arkansas FBI Academy Graduates Association, Arkansas State Police Association and the Lake Hamilton FFA Alumni.

Ray started his career in law enforcement with the Arkadelphia Police Department, then with the Clark County Sheriffs Office, and in 1974 he joined the Arkansas State Police Department, where he was still employed.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Coston of Royal; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Nick and Mischelle Coston of Greenwood and Luke Coston of Fayetteville; his grandchildren, Abigayle Coston and Brandon Coston; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Pat Coston of Malvern and their children, Eric Coston of Hot Springs and Michael Coston of Fort Campbell, Ky.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Duane Miller of Arkadelphia, and their daughter Leslie Miller, and Susan and Johnny Gordon of Sparkman, and their daughter, Stephanie Hebert; one step-brother, Robert Stover of Arkadelphia; one father-in-law and mother-in-law, Glen and Myrtle Sirmon of Kirby; and other family and friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2006, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Bro. Dennis Anderson officiating.

Full State Police Honors will be performed by the Arkansas State Police Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Interment will be in the Lowe Cemetery, under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Pallbearers will be Nick Coston, Luke Coston, and the Arkansas State Police.

James L. Golden
ARKADELPHIA - James L. "Bud" Golden, 84 of Arkadelphia died Monday April 17, 2006. He was born Feb. 20, 1922, the son of Zib and Fannie Bridges Golden. He was a retired employee of Daily Lumber Co. and member of the Second Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of the 82nd Seabees. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold "Pete" Golden and Marion "Snooks" Golden; one sister, Eleane Golden Connell; and one grandson, Rusty Golden.

Survivors include: His wife of 58 years, Geraldine Daniell Golden; five sons, Larry Golden and wife, Sandra, Donnie Golden and wife, Gail all of Curtis, David Golden, and wife Judy, Danny Golden and wife, Paula, Gary Golden and wife, Jan all of Arkadelphia; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2006, in Second Baptist Church with Rev. Faron Rogers and Rev. Carl Kluck officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Richard Carter, Don Egger, Bill Jackson, Ronnie Riggle, Ross Buck, and Floyd Brantley. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the Second Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Melba Worrell
DONALDSON - Melba Worrell, 69, of Donaldson died Aug. 23, 2008, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Donaldson on Sept.10, 1938, to the late Luster and Iva Sandage. She was a homemaker, a Baptist and member of Ouachita Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one sister.

Suriviors include: Her husband of 49 years, Gifford Worrell; one son, Tony Worrell of Hot Springs; two daughters, Donna Worrell of Arkadelphia, and Sherry Bruns of Lafayette, Colo.; one brother, Bobby Sandage of Maumelle; one sister, Anita Loy of Malvern; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Regency Funeral Home chapel with Paul Bass and Danny Harmon officiating. Burial will be at Ouachita Cemetery in Donaldson. Pallbearers will be Bobby Sandage, Jr., Galen Johnson, Lou Gergeley, Mike Walker, Bryan Loy and Brad Loy. Honorary pallbearer is Dr. B.D. Fine.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ronald L. Nunn

ARKADELPHIA - Ronald Louis Nunn (USAF ret.), age 79, of Arkadelphia passed from this life on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born on Nov. 23, 1928, in Quincy, Ill., the son of the late Wilbur James and Erma Vesta Van Metre Nunn. Ron was a Baptist and a member of the O'Fallon Masonic Lodge #576. He was a retired senior master sergeant of the United States Air Force and served in the United States Navy. Ron retired from Henderson State University after 25 years. He had a big heart and his kindness touched everyone. Ron enjoyed spending time with the Arkadelphia Bass Club, Andy's Morning Crew, and the workers of the Physical Plant at Henderson State University. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Majorie Neyman Nunn, and two brothers, Robert and James Nunn.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Burton Nunn, three daughters, Debbie Jock and her husband Charlie of Kerens, Texas, Laurie Bryant and her husband Phil of Griffifthtown, Nicole Bingham and her husband Kevin of Hot Springs, two sons, Josh Jeffers of Little Rock and Jeremy Allen and his wife Jessica of Hot Springs, five grandsons, Charles Huggins, Ronnie Lemons, Josh Campbell, Quincy Campbell, Jacob Bingham, six great-grandchildren, Ethan and Halie Campbell, Jordyn, Gracie and Ronnie Lemons, and Analeiah Huggins.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at Welch Funeral Home with Keith Ritter officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Henderson State University, 1100 Henderson St., Arkadelphia, Ark. 71923.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

WHELEN SPRINGS - Johnny Daugherty, 77, of Whelen Springs, died Sept. 1, 2008, at Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia.

Derek Baswell

BISMARCK - Derek "Deek" Baswell, 36, died Aug. 30, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born June 6, 1972, in Little Rock, the son of Don Wayne and Judith Dawn Loy Baswell Sr. He was a Bismarck High School Class of 1990 graduate, a U.S. Marine veteran of Desert Storm, a surgical tech at Health Park Hospital in Hot Springs. He was active in Bismarck Booster Club, Bismarck Little League Baseball as a coach, recently in the Arkansas Officials Association, and member of the First Baptist Church of Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include: His wife of 12 years Toni Aleshia Jacobs Baswell; his sons, Jacob Dalton, Jeremiah Blue, Gabriel Ernest Don Baswell; his mother, Judith Baswell of New Sharon, Maine; brother, Wayne Baswell of Bismarck; sister DeAnne Baswell Douin of New Sharon, Maine; and his grandmother, Omega Baswell of Hensley.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Bobby Cook officiating. Burial will be in First Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Regency Funeral Home of Malvern.

Pallbearers are Joseph Douin, Wayne and Dakota Baswell, Steven Jacobs, Darrell Lambert, Alan Hughes, Joey Nix, Shane Yarbrough.

Honorary pallbearers are J.D., Blue, and Gabe Baswell, Darin Douin, Destiny Baswell, Doctors and staff of Health Park Hospital, Bismarck Little League, Bill Heck, Duke Evans, James Hale, John Paul Stokes, Rodney Jacobs, Justin Collie, Carl Gordon, John Duncan, and James Avant, Levi Vincent and Rob Camaras.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Baswell Boys Fund at Southern Bancorp locations.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
