OSCEOLA -- C D Heaton Jr., 78, of Osceola died Monday, Dec. 6, at South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center in Osceola.
Born in Crossville, Ala., he was a Navy veteran, the owner-operator for Heaton's Grocery for 50 years and attended Wardell Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Heaton of Osceola; two sons, Steven Heaton of Russellville and C D Heaton III of Arlington, Tenn.; a daughter, Anneta Bryant of Fayetteville; five sisters, Donnis Lemings of Clarkton, Mo., and Carolyn Sue Aldrich, Sally Lemings, Bonnie Reed and Fay Heaton Honeycutt, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; five brothers, Charles Hershal Heaton of Birmingham, Ala., Cecil Heaton of Cullman, Ala., Jack Heaton and Melvin Heaton, both of Williamsville, Mo., and Buck Heaton of Poplar Bluff; and two grandchildren, Amber Heaton and Michael Heaton, both of Russellville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hester Gunner Heaton and C D Heaton Sr.; his foster mother, Irene Heaton; two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Roller-Swift Funeral Home in Osceola, with the Rev. Joe Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Bassett Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Hermon Reece, 72, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Dec. 7, at his residence.

HIGHLAND, Calif. -- Funeral services for Tressie Juanita Sala, 70, of Highland, who died Thursday, Dec. 2, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. today at Mt. View Mortuary in San Bernardino.
Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery.
Born in Mississippi County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, Joseph W. Sala Jr. of Yorba Linda, Calif., Rocky J. Sala of Palmdale, Calif., Geoffrey K. Sala of Twin Peaks, Calif., and Kerry G. Sala of Horse Shoe, N.C.; a daughter, Sheree A. Whiting of San Bernardino, Calif.; four sisters, Dathel Lee of Jonesboro, Betty Smith of Quitman and Belva Murray and Sammie Sue Bullock, both of Trumann; three brothers, Benny Griffin, Jimmy Griffin and Danny Griffin, all of Jonesboro; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Sala Sr.; one son, Stephen B. Sala; her parents, Joseph A. and Mary Ethel Jane Griffin; two sisters and one brother.
WYNNE -- Caiaphais Shead, 61, of Wynne died Saturday, Dec. 4, at Memphis.
Survivors include one son, Christopher Shead of Jonesboro; two sisters, Labethel Jean Peters of Little Rock and Rosie Williams of Memphis; and two brothers Henry W. Shead of Las Vegas and James Rivers of Perris, Calif.
Funeral will be at noon Friday at St. Mary's CME Church, with Logan Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Wynne Cemetery.

Graveside services for Barrett John Sitzer, 25, of Jonesboro, formerly of Weiner, who died Monday in a 2-vehicle accident on U.S. 49 near the Valley View community, will be today at 10:30 a.m. in Clark Cemetery.
Jim West will officiate, and burial will be under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Weiner.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Spurlock Sitzer of the home; a son, Briar Neal Sitzer of the home; a daughter, Amelia LeeAnn Sitzer of the home; his parents, Billy and Sandra Sitzer of Weiner; a brother, Byron Sitzer of Weiner; and his grandparents, Acel and Gwen Clark of Weiner and Lila Sitzer of Weiner.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ralph Sitzer.

LARGO, Fla. -- Willard "Sonny" Smith, 69, of Largo died Sunday, Dec. 5, at Woodside Hospice House in Pinellas Park, Fla.
Born in Light, he moved to Largo in 1963 from Punta Gorda, Fla., and retired after 20 years from Willard T. Smith Plastering in Pinellas County.
Survivors include a daughter, Melinda Shook of Largo; five sisters, Geneva Rowe of Michigan, Mona Doris Howard of Auburndale, Fla., Viola Cook of Walnut Ridge, Wanda Slatton of Light and Ila Robertson of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Tommy Smith of Mason, Mich.; three grandsons, Ian Shook, Byron Shook and Jackson Shook; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lottie and Hester Mahan Smith; a son, Talmage Willard Smith; a daughter, Melissa Carole Smith; two brothers; and three sisters.

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Lois Bramblett Spence Twilley, 94, of Mount Pleasant died Monday, Dec. 6, in Batesville.
Born in Mount Pleasant, she was a homemaker and a member of Guion Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, William Robert Spence of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Adalene Spence Green of Little Rock and Katheryn Spence Howard of Heber Springs; a stepson, Adell Twilley of Michigan; six grandchildren, Shelli Green Niblock of Searcy, Julie Green Priest of Mabelvale, Lisa Spence Carlon of Benton, Katrina Spence Laxton of Rector, William Shane Spence of Melbourne and Derek Kyle Howard of Louisiana; 13 great-grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

She was born in Dowagiac, Mich.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Creameans of Corning; one son, Justin Matthew Pentecost of Rector; one sister, Lisa Arnold of Rector; and one brother, Johnny Lee Pentecost of Neelyville, Mo.

RECTOR -- Hubert Elmer Flynt, 89, of Rector died Friday, Dec. 10, at Piggott Community Hospital.
He was a retired school principal.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Harris Flynt of the home; one daughter, Marilyn Jane Cook of Rector; one sister, Joe Nell Flynt of San Antonio; two grandchildren, David Alan Thrasher and Leigh Anne Kippeny; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Elmer and Mary M. Ward Flynt, one sister and two brothers.
