Shenese Turner
Shenese Darcelle Turner, 38, of Fort Smith died Monday, April 2, 2001, in a local hospital.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Union Baptist Church in Pocola. The body was cremated under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Turner Sr. of Little Rock; a daughter, Delcia Gordon of Fort Smith; five sons, Charles Jr., Allen, Steven, Dighon and Lamar Turner, all of Little Rock; her parents, Wade Gordon of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Thelma Gordon of Houston; three brothers, Rickey Darnell Gordon of Bossier City, La., Wade Gordon Jr. of Huntsville, Texas, and Gerry Gordon of Austin, Texas; and two grandchildren, Eric Britt and Tavin Chamber, both of Fort Smith.

Lois Self
Lois Self, 74, of West Fork died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in a Fayetteville nursing home. She was born June 30, 1926, in Oark, Johnson County, the daughter of John Wesley Ellison and Lillie Mae Cowan. She was a homemaker and a retired parts inspector. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Francis Self, and a brother, Howard Ellison.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Duncan Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Boatwright officiating, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Harderson of West Fork; a son, Mike Self of West Fork; three sisters, Mildred Patrick of West Fork, Johnnie Melson of Wesley and Lorne Staton of Russellville; four brothers, Cecil Ellison of Pasadena, Texas, Clois Ellison of Greenland, George Ellison of Springdale and Noah Ellison of Marshall, Texas; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Josh and Isacc Harderson, Clayton Shannon, Billy Melson, Chris Pennington and Brandon Morlock.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Ellison, Ronnie Patrick, Stan Harderson, Jimmy Sargent and Michael Morelock.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Patsi Harlan Rincon
Patsi Harlan Rincon, 83, of Fort Smith entered into rest Monday, April 2, 2001, in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 8, 1917, in Fort Smith, the daughter of the late George and Leone Harlan Hughes. Patsi was a homemaker, of the Episcopal faith, recording secretary for the Tops for 23 years, a member of National Honor Society, a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and baptized at the age of 3 months.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Fred of the home; three daughters, Leone Laubach and Harriet Griffith, both of Fort Smith, and Carolyn James of Gulfport, Miss.; two brothers, Patrick Pinnell of Fayetteville and Fred John Rincon Jr. of Greer, S.C.; 12 grandchildren, James Bradford Tinsley, David Michael Laubach, Patrick Edward Pinnell Jr., Cristol Pinnell, Paul Griffith, Jean Duffy, Leslie Allayne, Donna Vickery, Brian Rincon, Audra Flamming, John Michael Finch and Austin McKinley; 10 great-grandchildren; and one cousin, Mary Woodward.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in St. John’s Episcopal Church officiated by Father William Wright, Father Jeffery Champlin and Father Danny Schiefler. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 215 N. 6th St., Fort Smith, AR 72901 or Nature Conservancy, 4245 N. Fairfax Dr. Suite No. 100, Arlington, VA 22203-1606.

Vena Sarah Lear
Vena Sarah Lear, 93, of Fort Smith died Thursday, April 5, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of First Lutheran Church.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Old Jenny Lind Cemetery in Jenny Lind under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Leona Santiago and her husband, Firmo of Fort Smith; a son, Tom Morris and his wife, Willene of Muldrow; four grandchildren, Lisa Edwards of Great Falls, Mont., Damon L. McDonald of Central City, Clyde Morris of San Diego and Frankie Santiago of Barling; and three stepgrandchildren, Patty Janas of Pocola, Wayne Pledger of Van Buren and David Pledger of Pensacola, Fla. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edna Angel
WALDRON — Edna Marie Angel, 92, Waldron died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Waldron. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was the widow of Ed Angel.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Hawkins Cemetery in Parks.
She is survived by six daughters, Louise Willsey, Elois Young and Lisa Godfrey, all of Waldron, Ann VanDeWiele of Tulsa, Pat Keener and Linda Davis, both of Parks; five sons, Joe and Gerald, both of Hot Springs, Dan of Cassville, Mo., Bill of Little Rock and Charles of Peachtree City, Ga.; 34 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mark and Brad Keener, Keith Willsey, Mac and Shane Davis, Mike and Jim Young.
The body may be viewed 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edward Plunkett
WATSON, Okla. — Edward “Duck” Plunkett, 85, of Watson, Okla., died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Mena. He was born March 26, 1916, in Wickes. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a carpenter, worked in the ship yards and was a farmer. He was a member of Panther Creek Christian Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Panther Creek Christian Church in Plunkettville, Okla., with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cove under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Cleo; a daughter, Anna June Frachiseur of Grannis; two sons, Edward Wayne Plunkett of Watson and Paul Vaughn Plunkett of Albuquerque, N.M.; six grandchildren, Marlow Bailey of Watson, Richard Dixon of Hatfield, Russell Dixon of Mena, Sandy Frachiseur of Grannis and Christina and Natalie Plunkett, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Panther Creek Christian Church or the American Heart Association.

Contz’d Boyd
SPIRO — Contz’d Boyd, 78, of Spiro died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, in which he received six medals. He was a member of the Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church with burial at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
He is survived by his wife, Anna-Faye; three daughters, Brenda Morton and Debbie Benge, both of Spiro and Terry Smith of Pocola; a son, Mike Boyd of Spiro; four sisters, Pauline Cloud of Spiro, Barbara Dean Ohler, Lila Jean Dismukes and Mildred Angel, all of Norman, Okla.; a brother, Billy Boyd of Shafter, Calif.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ed Gray, Mike and Othel Gamble Jr., Charles and Enie Tobler III, Curtis Lloyd, David Beneux and John Redwine III.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Ollie Young
PARIS — Ollie Mae Young, 89, of Paris died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Paris. She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God in Paris. She was the widow of Carl Young.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in First Assembly of God in Paris with burial at Shaw Cemetery in Magazine under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Beck of Paris; a son, W.J. Sidwell of Paris; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Carl Brown
PORUM — Carl David Brown, 56, of Porum died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Porum.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday in First Assembly of God in Porum with burial at Fields Cemetery in Porum under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; five daughters, Annette Thompson and Patricia Humphrey, both of Henryetta, Okla., Lynnette Brown of California, Joy Mason of Webber Falls, Okla., and Kim Hyslop of Porum; three sons, Floyd and Daniel Brown and Teddy Hyslop, all of Porum; a sister, Kathey Brown Snow of Wynne; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Condrey, Loyd Dale Tillery, Jimmy Don Wright, Shannon Fuller, Kenneth Mendenhall and Doug Tallon.
The body may be viewed at funeral home in Porum.

Emma Cordry
CLARKSVILLE — Emma Lea Cordry, 61, of Clarksville died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born Jan. 29, 1940, in Batson. She was a retired florist and beautician.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Stillwell Cemetery in Clarksville.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur; two daughters, Linda Hylton and Frances Pentzer, both of Clarksville; her mother, Vivian Hudson of Clarksville, her father, Kendall Dixon of Clarksville; a sister, Sherri Sexton of Clarksville; three brothers, Lee and Steve Dixon, both of Kansas, and Rick Hudson of North Little Rock; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tom, Aaron and Shane Sexton, Phillip Holland, Shawn Pentzer, Gene Raible Jerry Cordry and Darrell Johnson.

Marie Phillips
POTEAU — Marie Phillips, 94, of Poteau died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Poteau. She was born Feb. 22, 1907, in Florence, Ala. She was a homemaker and a member of Southside Baptist Church of Poteau. She was the widow of Hansel Phillips Sr.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Southside Baptist Church in Poteau with burial at Vaughn Cemetery in Gilmore under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by three sons, Bobby Gene Phillips of Clarksburg, Va., Charles Phillips of Howe and “Chick” Hansel Phillips Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Frances Brown of Irving, Texas; a brother, Raymond Hale of Florida; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A meal will be served at noon Saturday at the Southside Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Wayburn Spears
HOWE — Wayburn Dale Spears, 73, of Howe died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Poteau. He was born June 11, 1927, in Independence Community near Heavener. He was an Army veteran, a retired scaleman from Sooner Scales and was a Baptist.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. today in Grace Manor Funeral Home Chapel in Poteau.
He is survived by three daughters, Ann Duschel of Tulsa, Gayle Herbert of Phoenix and Nona Deming of Newcastle, Okla.; two sisters, Ruby Davis of Wilburton and Lola Earls of Independence community near Heavener; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

John Casey
TULSA — John B. “Peach” Casey, 73, of Tulsa, formerly of Sallisaw, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Tulsa. He was a 1945 graduate of Sallisaw High School. He was a World War II veteran and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone after 38 years.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Sallisaw City Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Bivra Joann Cluck of Tulsa; his mother, Bertha Casey of Sallisaw; four sisters, Doris Long of Sallisaw, Bivra Mock of Fort Worth, Texas, Joyce Moore of Ashville, N.C., and Bonnie Gooch of Perryton, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Mike Casey, Donald Lee Gooch, Scott Moore, Joe Wes Long, Matthew LaValle and Jason Hamilton.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Charles Hawkins
WALDRON — Charles Hoyt Hawkins, 68, of Waldron died Thursday, May 31, 2001, in Waldron. He was a Air Force veteran and a retired dental lab technician.
No services will be at deceased’s request under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Linda Hawkins; four daughters, Debbie Bryan and Lisa Jordan, both of Fort Worth, Jane Roa of Reston, Va., and Robin Morris or Excelsior; a son, Russell Wallace of Excelsior; a sister, Nancy King of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, David Hawkins of Fort Worth, Texas; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to organization of donor’s choice.

Emroy Menk
SCRANTON — Emroy Elwayne Menk, 74, of Scranton died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a general superintendent for Ceco Corporation Construction and was a Lutheran.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; four daughters, Erica Gill of Fort Worth, Texas, Ella Lederer of Los Lunas, N.M., Debbie Walker of Plainfield, Ill., and Michelle Ehrhant of Villa Park, Ill.; two sons, Emroy Menk of Fayetteville and Errol Menk of Benton; a brother, Duane Menk of Peoria, Ill.; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
