ORVILLE BOONE

GREENWOOD — Orville “Sonny” Boone, 87, of Greenwood died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, in a Greenwood nursing home. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a member and deacon of Excelsior Baptist Church.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Excelsior Baptist Church with burial at Evans Cemetery in Excelsior under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

He is survived by his wife, Alline; three daughters, Ramona Thomas of Greenwood, Joyce Edwards of Lafayette, Colo., and Sue Smith of Garland, Texas; two sons, Jim of Keller, Texas, and Charles of Marana, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Viewing will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Cynthia Pasquarello

SANDESTIN, Fla. — Cynthia L. Pasquarello, 58, of Sandestin, Fla., formerly of Fort Smith, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, in her home. She was retired from AIG Corporation in Atlanta, she was area manager premium collections, southeast region. She was active with the South Walton County Federated Republican Women and worked for K-12 schools in South Walton County.

Memorial service was held 10 a.m. Thursday Oct. 5, 2000 at the Sandestin Owners Meeting Room under the direction of McLaughlin Mortuary in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.

Graveside memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Vince; two sons, Eric and Christopher; one grandson Joseph.

James Campbell

SALLISAW — James Woodrow “Woody” Campbell, 85, of Sallisaw died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in Sallisaw. He was manager of freight for American Airlines after 40 years. He was Church of Christ.

The body was cremated. Interment will be at Akins Cemetery northeast of Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; one step-daughter, Jana Cobb of Sallisaw; two sons, James Patrick Campbell of Tulsa, and Joe Keith Campbell of Sallisaw; two step-sons, Bryan Cobb of Sallisaw, and Steve Cobb of Fort Smith; one brother, Castleberry “Cass” Campbell of New York City, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Nathan Climer

LONDON, Ark. — Nathan G. Climer, 19, of London died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, in Flat Rock, Ark. He attended Lamar School. He was a freshman at Arkansas Tech University (Pre Law Major).

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Flat Rock Assembly of God Church with burial at Price Cemetery in London, Ark. Under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home in Clarksville.

He is survived by his parents, Janet and Max Falls of London; his grandparents, Margaret and Leonard Hardgrave of Flat Rock, Ark., and Maxine and Thomas Falls of Pottsville, Ark.; two sister, Katie and Sara Falls both of Dover, Ark.; one brother, Craig Falls of Dover, Ark.

Pallbearers will be Joshua, Jeremy Climer, Daniel, and James Hardgrave, Carson Arcia, Jason Duff, and Randy Eldridge.

The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gladys Thinnes

MENA — Gladys Thinnes, 92, of Mena died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at her home. She was born Dec. 29, 1907 in Mena. She studied nurses training at St. Edwards Hospital in Fort Smith. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and St. Agnes Altar Society. She was the widow of Floyd Thinnes.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. today in Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena. Burial will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mena.

She is survived by her sister, Julie Raye White; one brother, William T. Salyers, M.D.; her nephew, William (Bill) Forsyth of Mena; her niece, Mary Ann Forsyth Barrett of Reston, Va.

Memorials may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church, 203 Eighth Street, Mena, AR 71953.

Rolanda Wilkinson

MENA — Rolanda Anna Wilkinson, 83, of Mena died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in a Waldron nursing home. She was born Nov. 15, 1916 in Austria. She was a surgical technician at Wilhelmina Medical Center. She was a member of the Eastern Star No. 243 of Mena and Eastern Star No. 22 at Mount Meadow. She was the widow of Leonard C. Hegner and William H. Wilkinson.

The body will lie in state at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena from 3 p.m. Monday afternoon until Friday evening at 8 p.m. The body will be sent for cremation.

She is survived by one son, Gerard Hegner of Mena; one brother, Anthony Novy of Montello, Wis.; one granddaughter, Jennifer L. Rollins of Pleasant Grove, Ark.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Raymond Weece

KEOTA — Raymond Weece, 65, of Keota died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in Fort Smith. He was a farmer.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at Old Panther Cemetery in McCurtain.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda; one daughter, Marilyn Fraidenburg of Tulare, Calif.; one step-daughter, Debbie Mustin of Tulare, Calif.; three sons, Butch Weece of Washington, Douglas Weece of Tulare, Calif., and Roger Weece of Keota; one step-son, Steve Linker of Augusta, Ga.; three sisters, Lavone Berry of Piggott, Ima Dirkse of Phoenix, and Sondra Freitas of Ft. Collins, Colo.; one brother, Kenny Weece of Visalia, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Theodore Hoffman

Theodore L. Hoffman, 90, of Fort Smith died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a glass cutter for Harding Glass. He was a member of Rye Hill Baptist Church.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Steep Hill Cemetery in Rye Hill under the direction of Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; one daughter, Janet Didier of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Lee, Randy, and Brian Didier all of Fort Smith; eight great-grandchildren.

Taddy Magbee

MENA — Taddy Magbee, 71, of Mena died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in Mena. She was born Oct. 11, 1928 in Hatfield, Ark. She was a clerk for Carper-Dover Mercantile Company, MedArk Pharmacy, Rephans, and Wal-Mart. She was a bookkeeper for Heath Oil Company.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church in Mena with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena.

She is survived by one sister, Madge Johnson of Mena; one niece, Diane Johnson Pegg of Rochester, N.Y.; one nephew, Dr. Howard Hall of Mena; one great-niece, Emily Pegg Haines of Pittsford, N.Y.; two great-nephews, Dr. William Brent Hall of Pine Bluff, and Wesley Blake Hall of Russellville; great-great-nephew, Grant Hall of Pine Bluff.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 501 Ninth Street, Mena, AR 71953.

Robert Hanuska

CLARKSVILLE — Robert C. Hanuska, 78, of Clarksville died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in his home. He was born Nov. 13, 1921 in Chicago. He served in France during World War II, and received several metals, including two Purple Hearts. He attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. He was the widower of Juanita Mae Colbert.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hilltop Bible Church, Hwy. 164 near Horsehead Lake under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Sarah; one daughter, Barbara Wolak of Brookfield,Ill.; three sons, Robert J. Hanuska of Willow Springs, Ill., Bill Hanuska of Hartman, and Steven Hanuska of Braidwood, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Donald, Mindy and Tim Wolak, Peggy, Ciara, Emily, Steven, and Michael Hanuska, Tanya McDonald, and Liz Kozicki; two great-grandchildren, Kara and Faith McDonald.

Memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Department of Health Hospice, 1708 West C Place, Russellville, AR 72801.

The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Earl Brown

Earl R. Brown, 77, of Van Buren died Sunday, Oct. 8. 2000, in a local hospital. He was a retired nightwatchman for Farmers Co-op in Van Buren.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mountaintop Cemetery in Evansville, Ark. Under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.

He is survived by two brothers, William and Grady Brown of Dripping Springs community; two nephews, Malloy Brown of Dripping Springs, and James Brown of Uniontown; two great-nephews, Mark and Aaron Brown; several cousins.

Pallbearers will be Dewey Holbrook, Mark, Aaron, Malloy, and James Brown, and Tom Neckard.

Paul Clark

Paul F. Clark, 77, of Fort Smith died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in his home. He was a rock mason for Jeffries Sand Company.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Isabelle; three sons, Dale, and Robert Clark both of Fort Smith, and the Rev. Danny Clark of Little Rock; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Free Will Baptist Church.

Marguerette Estep

VIAN — Marguerette Dorris Estep, 92, of Vian died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in Vian. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a Methodist. She was the widow of Earl Estep Sr.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol Kay Stevenson of Vian; one son, Dr. Earl Estep Jr. of Athens, Texas; three grandchildren, Jonna Kay Stevenson La Nite of Pacific Grove, Calif., Kimberlee Estep Bosell, and Kip Carleton Estep both of Athens, Texas; and seven great-grandchildren.

CARL REED

POTEAU — Carl Andrew Reed, 87, of Poteau died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a veteran of World War II as a member of the Army Air Corps, was a master sergeant and a life member of the DAV. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Poteau.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Calvary Assembly of God with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home in Poteau.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; two daughters, Mary Mortimer of Oceanside, Calif., and Linda Gayle Furr of Poteau; three sons, Carl Don of Oklahoma City, David of Tulsa and Michael of Fort Smith; a half-brother, Clarence Johnson of California; 10 grandchildren, Stephen Pate, Christy, Tony and Kevin Reed, Shauna Atchley, Gary Wayne Jr., Brian Furr, Charity Dressler, Audra Langston and Mary Ortez; and seven great-grandchildren.

CLEVELAND STEWART

DENVER — Cleveland R. “Speedy” Stewart, 60, of Denver, formerly of Paris, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in Denver. He was a retired Army veteran, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars and in Europe. He received several awards and decorations. He was a Baptist.

Funeral and full military service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial at Ellsworth Cemetery in Midway.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; three children, Michael Stewart of Wamego, Kan., Sadala S. Garcia of Camp Pendleton, Calif., and Cleveland Stewart Jr., of Denver; five brothers, Harris of Boise, Idaho, Billy of Charleston, Robert “Bob” Stewart of Waxahachie, Texas, and Keith and Rufus, both of Paris; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

BILLY BUSHONG

ST. LOUIS — Billy C. Bushong, 67, of St. Louis died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in Missouri. He was born in Fort Smith and graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1950. He was employed and retired from Hopper and Hawkins as a internal security auditor in Dallas. He served in the Air Force and was stationed in the state of Washington, French Morocco and Japan.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Carole; two daughters, Janet L. Bushong of Fort Smith and Dawne C. Strait of St. Louis; one son, Gregg of Van Buren; two sisters, Sue Crandall of Lawton, Okla., and Deborah S. Holland of Fort Smith; two brothers, John of Ennice, N.C., and James of Southlake, Texas.

The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

LOIS JONES

CONCORD, Calif. — Lois B. Jones, 91, of Concord, Calif., formerly of Fort Smith, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in Concord. She was a graduate of Oklahoma College for Women, class of 1930. She was a retired school teacher who worked in Arkansas and Oklahoma. She was a deacon and a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Danville, Calif. She was the widow of Charles William Jones.

Memorial service was held Tuesday in Community Presbyterian Church in Danville, Calif. There was a private burial at Oakmont Cemetery in Lafayette, Calif., under the direction of Magleby’s Oak Park Hills Chapel in Walnut Creek, Calif.

She is survived by one daughter, Jean Abbott of Los Angeles; two sons, Joe of Danville, Calif., and Bill of Palo Alto, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

LOYD DAVIS

PARIS — Loyd R. Davis, 84, of Paris died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired mechanic for the U.S. Forest Service.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris.

He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann; one daughter, Euvonna Pendergrass of Charleston; two sons, Benny of Subiaco and Billy of Charleston; five brothers, Layton and Delmer, both of Van Buren, Silas of Tulsa, John Paul of Alma and Clyde of Illinois; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Greg and Weston Davis, John Pendergrass, Joe Craine, Deron Freeman and James Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be members of NARFF Brothers.

The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CLAUD DOTSON

ALMA — Claud Dotson, 86, of Alma died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in a local nursing home. He was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an usher.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Lewis Cemetery in Alma under the direction of Rowell-Paris Mortuary in Fort Smith.

He is survived by three sons, James of Van Buren, Cecil of Fort Smith and Jimmie of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters, Mary Howard of Little Rock and Ruth Moore of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will the men of Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
