Morris Street
DAYTON — Morris K. Street, 77, of Dayton died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, in a local nursing home. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired electrical engineer and a member of Dayton Church of Christ.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Fort Smith National Cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, Terri Bailey of Greenwood and Trissa Kline of High Ridge, Mo.; two sons, Bruce of Greenwood and Brad of Merkel, Texas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Grimes Jr., Bryan, Brandon and Blayne Street, Brian Barham and Brandon Davis.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association Sebastian County Memorial, P.O. Box 1274, Fort Smith, AR 72902.

Ila Johnson
BURNVILLE — Ila Johnson, 93, of Burnville died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, in her home. She was a homemaker and member of Burnville Baptist Church. She was the widow of W.J. “Bill” Johnson.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in Burnville Baptist Church with burial at Liberty Cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Jones of Greenwood; three grandchildren, William Lee Gwin, Charlene Tibbits and Jason Netz; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be William Lee Gwin, Jason Netz, Mack and Jon R. Johnson, Ronnie Williams and Gary Delp.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lowell H. Perry, 93, of Tulsa, formerly of Fort Smith, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, in Tulsa. He was retired from OG&E after 43 years as an accountant. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Smith, where he served as a deacon and church treasurer.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. A private graveside service will be held before the memorial service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Okla Bradley Perry after 56 years of marriage.
He is survived by two daughters, Carole Perry and Nancy and Lawrence Chisum, all of Tulsa; two sisters-in-law, Rachel Perry of Sallisaw and Doris Williamson of Dallas; a brother, Floyd and Dorothy Lewis of Sallisaw; two grandchildren, Craig and Gina Chisum and Marla Chisum; and one great-grandson, Bryan Lowell Chisum.

Donna L. Haire Wright, 58, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was born in Fort Smith but lived all over the United States with her husband, a career Navy man.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Wright Sr. of Fort Smith; three daughters, Ginger L. Wright of Ocoee, Fla., and Debbie and Paul Oliver and Tammy S. Andrews and Jeff Andrews, all of Fort Smith; a son, Jimmy Wright Jr. and his fiancee Tonya Carruth, both of Fort Smith; her mother, Violet Haire of Fort Smith; a brother, Roy Lee Haire of Fort Smith; and six grandchildren, Ginger, Jennifer, Jamie and Jessica Oliver and Jeffrey and Kimberly Andrews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Delton Wilkins.
Pallbearers will be Harold Bateman, Bob Becker, George Foster, Harold Blaylock, Lyndell Foster and E.J. Sellars.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

SAMUEL DEWETT
OZARK — Samuel “Bill” Dewett, 87, of Ozark died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, in Ozark. He was retired from Arkansas Valley Electric Co-op and was a member of Webb City Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Webb City Baptist Church with burial at Highland Cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by a daughter, Phillis Minton of Fort smith; a son, Louis of Springdale; a sister, Ruby Carlile of Ozark; three grandchildren, Richard Wood, Lee Ann Looney and Liby Smith; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Paul Lewis Acord, Wayne Davis, Roger Allen Carlile, Jackie Ray Keith, Lonnie Mack Tolbert, Bobby Bond, Charles Ray White and Stanson Davis.

NOBIA BUFFORD
Nobia Lee “Paddle” Bufford, 79, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001 in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker, a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, a member of the Quilting Bunch and a retired cook for the Fort Smith Public School System serving Chaffin Junior High School.
Funeral will be noon today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Anita and Jimmie Farra of Jacksonville and Janice and John Eddleman of Hackett; a sister, Marie James of Desha; a brother, Ocial Jeffrey of Desha; a granddaughter, Andrea and Scott Mason and a great-grandson, Samuel Alexander Mason.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Grimes, Jimmy Ciulla, Jimmie Archey, Larry Loux, Wayne Haver, Ray Baker, David Ollard and Robbie Hinds.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 2200 South Phoenix, Fort Smith, AR 72901.

THERESA SANDER
Theresa “Terri” Sander, 65, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001 in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker.
The body will be cremated. No service will be held.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Sander of Fort Smith, and a sister, Mary Ritter of Southern Pine, N.C.

JOAN DAVES
COOKSON, Okla. — Joan Mawson Daves, 71, of Cookson, Okla., died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, in Tulsa.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today in the United Methodist Church of Cookson with burial at Cookson-Proctor Cemetery under the direction of Green Country Funeral Home of Tahlequah, Okla.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey; two daughters, Pam Brown of Springfield, Mo., and Janice Janet of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a sister, Jean Reed of Fort Smith; a brother, Roger Mawson of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Janet, both of Broken Arrow.
Pallbearers will be Bobby and Roy Mizell, Randy Brown, Terry Janet, Larry Stockton and Charles Hatfield.

WILLIAM AKRIDGE
JACKSONVILLE — Wiliam Joe Akridge, 78, of Jacksonville, formerly of Fort Smith, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, in Jacksonville. He was a member of Westark Church of Christ and a retired salesman for General Mills. He was a Mason in Sebastian Lodge 706, Western Arkansas Consistory, Scimitar Shrine, a Bagman of Bagdad and a member of UCT Club of Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, with Masonic graveside service.
He is survived by a son, Harold Joe Akridge of Bella Vista; a sister, Ruby Barton of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, John Wayne Akridge of Temecula, Calif.; a grandson, William Joe Akridge II; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Westark Church of Christ Building Fund, 900 N. Waldron, Fort Smith, AR 72903.

BONNIE RITTER
MULBERRY — Bonnie Hightower Ritter, 77, of Mulberry died Saturday, Feb 25, in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and a retired employee of James River Corp. in Fort Smith. She attended the Hearts of Hope Church in Alma and was the widow of Walter Ritter Jr.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. today in Edwards Van Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at McDonalds Chapel Cemetery in Pinehurst, N.C.
She is survived by two daughters, Lucy Lloyd and Audie Ritter, both of Mulberry; two sisters, Jessie Hendricks of Fort Smith and Audre Prezioso of Ohio; four grandchildren, Bonitta Jordan of Van Buren and David and Justin Lloyd and Sarah Nance, all of Alma; and five great-grandchildren.

BILLY SUTER
HOWE — Billy Suter, 65, of Howe died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, in his home. He was a member of the Howe First Baptist Church and was employed for 31 years by the LeFlore County Department of Human Services, retiring in 1986 as county administrator. He also was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a master’s degree in social work and a 1953 graduate of Howe High School.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church of Howe with burial at Howe Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Greta; two daughters, Shawna Oglesby of Heavener and Laura Lea Hewitt of Charleston; a son, Kenneth of Howe; his mother, Edith Suter of Howe; one brother, Jimmy of Shady Point; and one grandson, Brandon Suter of Howe.

ELIZABETH HALL
HEAVENER — Elizabeth Hall, 91, of Heavener died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001 in Heavener. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the widow of Edward Hall.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with burial at Memorial Park in Heavener.
She is survived by one daughter, Maxine Hembree of Fort Smith; a son, Robert Hall Jr. of Tulsa; three grandchildren, Steve Hembree of Heavener, Edward Hembree of Woodland Hills, Calif., and Robin Hall of San Francisco; and one great-granddaughter, Whitney Hembree of Heavener.

MARY SEFTNER
PARIS — Mary Jane Seftner, 65, of Paris died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001 in Paris. She was a retired licensed practicing nurse and a member of First Baptist Church in Paris.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church in Paris with burial at Baxley Cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by one daughter, Jennifer L. Holt of Lavaca; a son, Stephen W. Seftner of Paris; and four grandchildren, three nephews and two nieces.
The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

HELEN DALTON
Helen Marie Dalton, 81, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, in Van Buren. She was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith.
The body will be cremated. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith.
She is survived by four daughters, Glenda Kirkwood and Vivian Centeno, both of Fort Smith, Brenda Donovan of Van Buren and Linda Eby of Springdale; and 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

EVERETT KAUFMAN
HATFIELD — Everett L. Kaufman, 83, of Hatfield died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, in an area hospital. He was born May 20, 1917 in Willy, Texas, a resident of Hatfield since 1993 and a Mason. He was a member of the Hatfield First Baptist Church where he was a greeter.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church in Hatfield with burial at Six Mile Cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; one son, Bobby Kaufman of Lucas, Texas; one daughter, Gayle Piper of Hatfield; one sister, Katheryn Cooper of Denton, Texas; and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

BERTHA ATKINSON
STIGLER — Bertha V. Atkinson, 95, of Stigler died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001 in her home. She was the widow of Herman Atkinson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel of Stigler with burial at Tamaha Cemetery in Tamaha.
She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Garcia of Oklahoma City and Joyce Tolfa of Ormond Beach, Fla.; five sons, Buhel and James Atkinson, both of Wichita, Kan., William Atkinson of Spiro, Newell Atkinson of Bokoshe, Amos Atkinson of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister, Elizabeth Bunch of Keota; and 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roger Shrum, David, Don and Brian Atkinson and Dustin and Jerrod Smith.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.
