George Harris Jr.
FANSHAWE — George Thomas Harris Jr. “Sonny”, 51 of Fanshawe died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, in Panola, Okla. He was born Sept. 7, 1950, in Fanshawe. He was a Army veteran serving in Vietnam, a logger and a ranch hand.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Fanshawe School Auditorium with burial at Fanshawe Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret Free; his father, George Harris Sr.; two sisters, Ann Savage and Debbie Cantrell; two halfsisters, Shirley Mosel and Suzy Henderson; four halfbrothers, Thomas, Lee, Larry and Billy Harris.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Don Hudlow, Dan Bost, Joe Herrington, Bill Harris, Jimmy Don Newby and Cotton Cantrell.

Michael Dale Gould
Michael Dale Gould, 20, of Fort Smith died Thursday, July 25, 2002, in Muskogee. He was a 2000 graduate of Fort Smith Christian School, a student at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, a 2002 cheerleader for UAFS, a builder for Dale Gould Custom Homes and a member of Harvest Time Tabernacle and a Sunday school teacher and a youth leader for the Oneighty Youth Center at Harvest Time Tabernacle.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Harvest Time Tabernacle in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
He is survived by the love of his life, Kristen Looney of Fort Smith; his parents, Dale and Cathy Gould of Fort Smith; his maternal grandparents, George and Libby Chance of Van Buren and paternal grandparents, Robert and Angela Gould of Anaheim, Calif., and Patsy Harper of Spiro; his great-grandmother, Floye Matlock of Spiro; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Melissa and Dylan Kounce, Mallory Gould and Morgann Gould, all of Fort Smith; and one niece, Kaitlyn Kounce of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Jon Morris, Josh Waggoner, Daniel Miller, Matt Huie, Jeremiah Hays, Matt Kelly, Lee Prince, Joe Berrios, Grant Morris and James Perry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Oneighty youth leaders.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Effie Evelyn “Granny” Fisher
Effie Evelyn “Granny” Fisher, 92, of Fort Smith died Thursday, July 25, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was born June 30, 1910, in Booneville. She was a homemaker and a member of Phoenix Village Baptist Church.
Graveside service was 9:30 a.m. Saturday at White Bluff Cemetery in Bonanza under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Doris Evelyn Bryant of Van Buren, Wanda Faye Bass of Rogers and Margarette Ann Mathis of Spiro; four sons, Howard Lee Fisher of Bonanza, Billy Wayne Fisher of Fort Smith, Joseph Charles Fisher of Spiro and Kenneth Ray Fisher of Alma; 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Howard “Buzzy” Fisher, Mike Fisher, Douglas Fisher, Buddy Allison, Joe Mathis and Debbi Watkins.

Edward James Hobson
Edward James Hobson, 80, of Kibler died Saturday, July 27, 2002, in a local nursing home. He was a member of Kibler Assembly of God and was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in Italy and Custers Polar Bear Division. He was retired from Desota and Riverside Manufacturing Co.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Gill Cemetery Arbor in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Kay Nordin of Alma and Patsy Marie King of Dayton; two sons, Billy Ed Hobson of Mountainburg and Roger Dale Hobson of Alma; one sister, Thelma Duhon of Louisiana; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Keith Hobson, Shawn Hobson, Mark King, Paul King, Michael Hobson and Glenn Nordin.

Helen Louise Caton
Helen Louise Caton, 79, of Van Buren died Saturday, July 27, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was formerly of Elyria, Ohio and had been a resident of Van Buren since 1978. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, the Oblates and Rosary Society.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Van Buren with funeral mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Michael’s Catholic Church and burial at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Dolphas Dale Caton of Van Buren; five daughters, Patricia Willis of Cleveland, Barbara Bauer of San Diego, Beverly Moser of Glenmont, N.Y., Diana Allen of Auburn, Wash., and Catherine McNally of Roland; one sister, Ann Dargai of Pittsburgh and six grandchildren, Brian, BreAnna, Ian, Holly, Dane, Ethan, Dennis and Sean.
Pallbearers will be Tim McNally, Tom McNally, Hank Nicko, Jack Moser, David Horton and Mark Horton.

Roy Sloan
BRANCH — Roy Allen Sloan Jr., 44, of Branch died Thursday, July 25, 2002, in Booneville. He was a member of Branch Church of Christ and employed by Starks Manufacturing Co. in Paris.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Branch Church of Christ with burial at Hampton Cemetery north of Branch under the direction of Smith Mortuary in Charleston. The body was cremated under the direction of Smith Mortuary in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Tammie; two stepsons, Dakota and Dillon Quijada, both of Branch; his father, Roy of Branch and a sister, Carolyn Phillips of Ratcliff.

Geneva Stevenson
RIO RANCHO, N.M. — Geneva Janet “Jan” Stevenson, 61, of Rio Rancho, N.M., died Saturday, July 13, 2002, in Albuquerque, N.M.
Memorial service will be 6:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque. Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sept. 7 at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Aspen Funeral Alternatives in Albuquerque.

Ora Bailey
MENA — Ora Belle Bailey, 77, of Mena formerly of Athens died Friday, July 26, 2002, in her home. She was born April 4, 1925, in Vandervoort and was a farmer, homemaker and Christian. She was the widow of Deloss Bailey.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mount Zion Methodist Church in Athens with burial at Athens Cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena.
She is survived by four sons, Horace Bailey of Glenwood, Harold and Darrell Bailey, both of Athens, and Ronnie Bailey of Lodie; five daughters, Linda Black of Black Springs, Lavon Cook of Enid, Okla., Norma Self of Kirby and Janice and Karen Dugan, both of Mena; two brothers, Ednel Gibbons of Cove and Fairol Gibbons of Vandervoort; two sisters, Doyce Crawford of Mena and Velma Rowton of Kelso, Wash.; 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Leon Black, Lester Cook, Terry Dugan and Neil Wimberly.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Judy Dees
OZARK — Judy Dees, 63, of Ozark died Thursday, July 25, 2002, in an auto accident. She was a retired musician and arts and music teacher and attended First Christian Church of Ozark.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church of Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Fitzgerald of Dallas; three sons, Patrick Fitzgerald of Denton, Texas, Sean Fitzgerald of Flowermound, Texas, and Michael Fitzgerald of Hemet, Calif.; a sister, Doris Walton of Dallas; a brother, James Beloian of Trevor, Wis.; and six grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arkansas Arts Council.

Dorotha Knight
DENVER — Dorotha “Dot” Knight of Denver died Monday, July 22, 2002, in Denver. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Weight Control Workshop, Sparks Guild and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 50 years and retired after 40 years as head bookkeeper for International Paper — Long Bell division.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fentress Memorial Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith. A private memorial service was held in Denver.
She is survived by a daughter, Christy Hayes of Denver and a sister, Louise Conklin of Denver.
The family will visit with friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Fort Smith, Po.

Glen Shaw
Glen Shaw, 59, of Spiro was born May 19, 1943, in Spiro to Thomas Franklin and Dorothy Rowan Shaw. He died Saturday, July 27, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was an employee of Whirlpool for 40-plus years.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta “Rita” Shaw of the home; four daughters, Sabra Shaw of Chicago, Darlynn Cast and husband Greg of Sallisaw, Elisa Walker and husband Brian of Oktaha, Okla., and Michelle Still and husband Virgil of Spiro; three sons, Randall Shaw of Kennesaw, Ga., Damon Bower and wife Tammy of Heavener and Michael Shane Newlon and Shawnee of Woodland, Texas; three brothers, Kenneth Shaw and wife Ruby, Leon Shaw and wife Pat and George Shaw and wife Brenda, all of Spiro; and 11 grandchildren.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lucretia Long.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harvest Hill Assembly of God in Spiro with the Rev. Andrew Jones officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
Pallbearers will be Craig Geren, Don Rodgers, John Redwine, Jimmy Burdick, T. Hesson and Randy Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Autry, Leon Whitlock, Johnny Fletcher and Bill Daniels.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lucille Martin Wilson
Lucille Martin Wilson, 90, of Van Buren died Saturday, July 27, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was a Baptist, a former member of the Alma order of the Eastern Star and the widow of Ray Wilson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Polly E. Ashing of Fort Smith and Betty Wellnitz of Van Buren; three sons, Melvin Martin of Oklahoma City, Boyce Edward Martin of Uniontown and Jack A. Martin of Broken Arrow; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons.

Dorotha “Dot” Knight
