Wilson

McCrory -- Clark Donald Wilson, 89, of McCrory died Sunday, Jan. 9, at McCrory.

Born in the Tip community near McCrory, he attended school at Tip and was a World War II Navy veteran. He owned and operated Wilson's Grocery in Grays and later in McCrory. He attended the McCrory Senior Citizens Center and was a member of Patterson First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Ron Rutledge of Pine Bluff; four daughters, Carolyn Higginbotham and Patricia Yates, both of McCrory, Jackie Pruitt of Marianna and Lynn E. Wilson of Navarre, Fla.; a brother, Warren Wilson of Southaven, Miss.; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Curtis Wilson; his second wife, Ann Rutledge Wilson; a son, Don Wilson; his parents, Donald and Celie Wright Wilson; three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of McCrory, with Ellis Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Woodman Cemetery.

Blackwell

DYESS -- Pauline Blackwell, 77, of Dyess died Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis.

Born at Hoxie, she lived in Dyess for 60 years, was a homemaker and member of Bethel Pentecostal Church of God in the Sandridge community.

Survivors include three daughters, Irene Pilgrim of Marion, Earlene Suthern of Dyess and Lorene Vuncannon of Trumann; two sons, John Blackwell of Adamsville, Tenn., and Murrell Blackwell of Trumann; one sister, Marvell Jones of Rockford, Ill.; three brothers, Paul Morris of Rockford, James Morris of Wayne, Mich., and Larry Morris of Sedgwick; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Blackwell; her parents, Jasper and Dovie Owen Morris; four sisters; and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Bethel Pentecostal Church of God, with the Rev. Linda Williams officiating. Burial will be in Bassett Cemetery under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.

Pallbearers will be John Blackwell Jr., Raymond Blackwell, Christopher Sampley, Fletcher Sampley, Mark Burt and Kevin Rumbaugh.

Briley

BLYTHEVILLE -- Max Elmer Briley, 88, of Blytheville died Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Great River Medical Center.

Born at Savannah, Tenn., he was a longtime resident of Blytheville and member of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was retired from television sales and repair, and was the founder of Quality TV at Blytheville. A World War II Army veteran, he was awarded three Purple Hearts and three Bronze Stars and was a member of the American Legion and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Duncan Briley of the home; two sons, Max Briley of Blytheville and Gary Briley of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Deanna Cabaniss of Birmingham, Ala., and Mackie Hunt of Savannah; three brothers, Claude Briley of Blytheville, James L. Briley of Adamsville, Tenn., and Douglas Briley of Paris, Texas; one sister, Blanch Shaw of Germantown, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace J. and Ida Spears Briley, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church at Blytheville, with Dr. Max Briley and the Rev. Greg Bowers officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Doerge

HORSESHOE BEND -- Clyde James Doerge, 81, of Horseshoe Bend died Monday, Jan. 17, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Born at Fenton, Mo., he was a 1942 graduate of Kirkwood High School and served as radio operator during World War II, receiving a number of commendations. Following retirement in 1986 from the U.S. Postal Service, he moved to Horseshoe Bend. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks and Eagles lodges and St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend.

Survivors include two sons, Dana Doerge of Iowa City, Iowa, and Robert Davis of Morgantown, N.C.; two daughters, Deborah Doerge of Cape Coral, Fla., and Anita Smotherman of St. James, Mo.; his stepmother, Fran Griffith of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta "Judy" Doerge, his parents and one brother.

A memorial mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church. Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Faulk

PARAGOULD -- Shirley Ellis Faulk, 90, of Paragould died Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born at Craighead County, he was a retired dragline operator and member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Brummett Faulk of the home; three sons, Gaylon Faulk of St. Louis, Danny Faulk of Jonesboro and Lynn Faulk of Lake City; one daughter, Sue Freeman of Paragould; two brothers, Doyle Faulk of Ontario, Calif., and Donald Faulk of Paragould; two sisters, Bonnie Campbell and Louise Woods, both of Paragould; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rozella Faulk, and his parents, Claude Elisha and Elsie Irene Nutt Faulk.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. G.W. Endicott officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Children's Home of Paragould.

Holman

SPRINGDALE -- Kathleen Holman, 85, of Springdale, formerly of Jonesboro, died Monday, Jan. 17, at Northwest Medical Center of Springdale.

Born at Magnolia, she owned and operated Dairy Delight in Monette for many years and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. She moved to Northwest Arkansas in 2000 from Jonesboro.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Campbell of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Julia Farmer of Springdale, Jamie Lynn Slayton of Jacksonville, Fla., and Andy Campbell of Jonesboro; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Holman, and one son, James Morris Holman.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fellowship Bible Church, with Robert Cupp, John Marquette and Mickey Rapier officiating.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.

Memorials may be made to the Springdale Senior Center, 203 Park St., Springdale 72764.

Lassiter

CAVE CITY -- Paul Junior Lassiter, 71, of Cave City died Tuesday, Jan. 18, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Born at Cave City, he was a farmer and retired from Banquet Foods in Batesville. He was a member of the Eutopia Baptist Church at Cave City.

Survivors include his wife, Glenna Bell Lassiter of the home; one son, Michael Paul Lassiter of Cave City; his mother, Alma Lassiter of Cave City; one brother, Calvin Ray Lassiter of Cave City; one sister, Barbara Penn of Cave City; two granddaughters, Mandy Roach of Batesville and Ashley Lassiter of Cave City; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Mac Lassiter.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the Qualls Funeral Home chapel in Cave City, with Jeff Holland officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery, west of Cave City.

Pallbearers will be Gilbert McCracken, Bill Gallagher, Dean Hastings, Jeral Hastings, Donald Hastings, Greg Penn, Alvin Christopher and David Stuntz.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Nelson

MAYNARD -- Billie Gene Nelson, 75, of Maynard died Tuesday, Jan. 18, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born at Reyno, he was a self-employed sawmill operator.

Survivors include his wife, Ayra Ann Nelson of Maynard; three sons, Ronnie Nelson of Doniphan, Mo., Gary Nelson of Gatewood, Mo., and Richard Nelson of Maynard; a daughter, Pam Shelley of Doniphan; a brother, Mike Nelson of Lake Wappapello, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Peter Nelson and Myrtle Irene Jones Nelson.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas, with Harold Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in Ingram Cemetery at Maynard.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Payne

LEACHVILLE -- Billy Verdone Payne, 65, of Leachville died Wednesday, Jan. 19, at his residence.

Born at Paragould, he was a longtime resident of Para-gould, moving to Leachville seven years ago. He was a retired meat cutter and had worked as an auto body repairman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Myrtle Lambert Payne, one brother and one sister.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Howard Funeral Service of Leachville. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
