Walter L. Rogers Jr.
Walter L. Rogers Jr., 79, of Poteau died Friday, Feb. 16, 2002, in an area hospital. He was born March 16, 1922, in Little Rock, hauled cattle and drove a U.S. Mail truck for more than 50 years and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Wister and an Army veteran of World War II.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Church of the Nazarene in Wister with burial at Wister City Cemetery under the direction Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Poteau. The Rev. Jimmy D. Cook will officiate.
He is survived by his wife, Effie; two stepdaughters, BIllie Williams of Panama and Joyce Erskin of Bokchito; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-gradchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Celia Ann Stephens Sill
Celia Ann Stephens Sill, 90, of Van Buren died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, in a nursing home. She was a retired nurse’s assistant at Medi Home Nursing Home in Fort Smith and a member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church in Van Buren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Dave H. Stephens and Elwon Sill, and a son, Troy Stephens.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church in Van Buren with burial at Alma Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Ven Buren.
She is survived by two daughters, Anna Lee Killion and Mary Ann Yeager, both of Van Buren; a sister, Lavelle Gregory of California; a brother, J.R. Warren of Mulberry; seven grandchildren, 19 grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Marvin Wesley Calvery
The Rev. Marvin Wesley Calvery of Maebashi, Japan, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at his residence. “Wesley” as he was known, was born in Eddy, Texas, on May 27, 1929. He was the youngest son of Ellis and Lela Calvery and grew up in Waco, Texas.
In 1948, he was ordained a minister and commissioned as a foreign missionary. In 1952, he received a bachelor’s degree in Bible from FWBBC in Nashville, Tenn. In 1954, he received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Vanderbilt University, Peabody College, in Nashville, Tenn. In 1954, he arrived in Yokohama, Japan, with his wife, Aileen, where both attended language school. In 1956 to 1987, he planted several churches on the island of Hokkaido. From 1987 to 1990, he continued missionary work in Hawaii. From 1991 to 2002, he was with Christian Bridal Mission and pastor of Sharon Gospel Church in Maebashi.
He is survived by his wife, Aileen; a daughter, Rebecca Arthur and husband of Snow Hill, N.C.; two sons, Michael Calvery and wife of Round Rock, Texas, and Jonathan Calvery and wife of Cameron; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express thanks to the many that have shown their love and sympathy.

Gene Watkins
Gene “Hooley” Watkins, 70, Van Buren died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, in his home. He was an Army veteran of 24 years serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars, a retired truck driver for Film Transit and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith with full military honors under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; two daughters, Nancy Herod of Cedarville and Joy Watkins of Van Buren; a son, Ronnie Watkins of Alma; a sister, Patsy Swindle of Norman; a brother, James Watkins of Guy; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Julian, Toby Atwell, Eual Knapp, Justin Blasingame, Jim Carter, Howard and B.B. Ballard and Bryum White.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Pat Fowler
Pat Fowler, 68, of Van Buren died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at her home in Van Buren. She was born March 1, 1933, in Ozark and was a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Van Buren and Adult 6 Sunday School Department.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Van Buren with burial at 2 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark.
She is survived by her husband, Truman; two daughters, Kathy Bowlan of Shawnee and Lucy Kinslow of Rogers; two sisters, Paulette Holden of Cecil and Dorotha Mae Snide of Chandler, Ariz.; a brother, John W. Mayner of Fort Smith and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Don Hardcastle, William E. “Bill” Hess, Quintan Waldo, Jack Morton, Hugh Holden and Russell Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult 6 Sunday School Department.

Betty Davison
HOWE — Betty Faye Ford Davison, 58, of Howe died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Howe.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Assembly of God in Howe with burial at Howe Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home in Heavener.
She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Pierce and Cindy Hollingshead, both of Howe; a son, Chuck Davison of Howe; two sisters, Patsy McKinney of Howe and Charlene Underwood of Oklahoma City; five brothers, Charley and Bobby Ford, both of Oklahoma City and Tommy, J.D. and David Ford, all of Howe; and three grandchildren.

Rose Lewis
MULDROW — Rose Mary “Rosie” Lewis, 55, of Muldrow died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker; a veterinary assistant in California and a graduate of Fontana, Calif. High School and a Methodist.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Agent Chapel in Muldrow with burial at Lee’s Chapel Cemetery south of Muldrow under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Muldrow.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; two daughters, Kimberly Ann Irvin of Wrigthtstown, Penn., and Stacy Lynn Mendoza of Palmdale, Calif.; three stepsons, Tony and Don Lewis Jr., both of Muldrow, and Brad Lewis of London; two sisters, Patricia Greene of San Diego and Jean Rott of Paris, Ill.; two brothers, Hershel Harvey of Morgantowon, W.Va., and Bob Harvey of Miami; four grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ken Christopher, Roy and Jeff Neighbors, Ray Watts, Harold Lee and Harvey Matthews.

Juanita Hill
ROLAND — Junaita L. “Ginger” Hill, 65, of Roland died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, in Roland. She was born Nov. 29, 1936, in Denver and was a Catholic and a graduate of Antioch High School.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Akins with burial at Akins Cemetery north of Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Roland.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; a daughter, Laura Sevenstar of Muldrow; two sons, John of Norman and James of Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Robert L. Serna of San Jose, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brad Hill, Frankie, Cameron and Jonathan Sevenstar and Robert and Andy Serna.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Imogene Robson
Imogene “Jeanne” Robson, 78, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in her home. She was a homemaker.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon of Fort Smith; a sister, Callie Webb of Fayetteville; a brother, Hilliard Robertson of Searcy; and a granddaughter, April Robson of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Danny and Brad Butler, Jerry Daugherty, Larry Elkins, Pete Peterson, Steve Murray and Tom Fowler.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Edward Hospice, 5401 Ellsworth Road, Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Bill Harmon
GREENWOOD — Bill Harmon, 71, of Greenwoood died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002. He was a retired truck driver.
The body was cremated under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Liz; three sons, William and Michael, both of Greenwood, and Steve of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and five grandchildren.

Dale Little
HUNTINGTON — Dale Little, 71, of Huntington died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, in Talihina. He was a barber in Mansfield from 1971 to 2000, an Air Force veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, a member of Huntington VFW Post No. 8245, a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Coop Prairie Church in Mansfield.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Coop Prairie Church in Mansfield with burial at Coop Prairie Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Nona; two daughters, Sherry House of Mulberry and Dalona Stephens of Warner Robbins, Ga.; three sons, Edgar of Cocoa, Fla., Douglas of Hartford and Charles of Mansfield; four sisters, Connie and Eddie, both of Washington, Marie of California and Nema of Missouri; two brothers, Buck of Siloam Springs and Lewis of Arizona; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be members of Huntington VFW Post No. 8245.
The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Dora Rotramel
MULDROW — Dora Mae Rotramel, 82, of Muldrow died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Fields Cemetery near Porum.
She is survived by four daughters, Lavon Adamson of Tahlequah, Okla., Cartha Harrison and Carolyn Townsend, both of Muldrow, and Janice Rotramel of Tulsa; two sons, Tim Adams of Catoosa and Jim Adams of Muldrow; a sister, Marie Massey of Muldrow; 20 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Townsend, Doyle Adamson, Jim Hall, James Mouse, James Staggell and Darrell Brewer.
The body may be viewed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Lloyd Emery
PLAINVIEW — Lloyd L. Emery, 60, of Plainview died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, in Plainview. He was born April 10, 1941, and worked as a logger.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cornwell Chapel in Plainview under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville.
He is survived by his wife, Dona; three daughters, Gala Leach and Misty Nelms, both of Plainview and Lisa Shinn of Rover; two sons, Gary of Fort Smith and Tracy of Rover; five sisters, Cora Davis, Lana Webb, Ruby Emery and Syble Emery, all of Texas and Lois Emery of California; a brother, David of Texas; and ten grandchildren.

Sewell Hickman
Sewell Hickman, 79, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a retired mail carrier from the U.S. Postal Service, a member of New Liberty Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; five daughters, Sharon Powers and Kathryn Fisher, both of Tulsa, Deborah Lawrence of Greenwood, Marilyn Buffington of Arlington, Texas, and Carolyn McGinnis of Fort Smith; a brother, Horton of Harrison, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Victor Brown, Danny Boyd, Larry Powers, Willie Lawrence, Jim Buffington and Randy McGinnis.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

JoAnne Poppe
ATLANTA — JoAnne Halsell Poppe, 62, of Panama City Beach, Fla., formerly of Blytheville died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in an Atlanta hospice. She was a Baptist.
Funeral will be noon Tuesday at Rest Hills Funeral Home in Sherwood under the direction of Rest Hills Funeral Home in North Little Rock.
She is survived by a former husband, Jerry Halsell of Fort Smith; a daughter, Elizabeth Ricketts of Fort Smith; two sons, Jerry Halsell Jr., of Paragould and Rod Halsell of Hartwell, Ga.; four sisters, Sandra Harlan of Sherwood, Hope Bush of Atlanta and Dorbah Donner and Susie Moody of Blytheville; five brothers, Billy Webb of Monticello, Charles Webb of Hardy, Dee Webb of Rison, David Webb of Leachville and Tommy Webb of Pine Bluff; five granddaughters and two grandsons.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday at the funeral home in North Little Rock.
