Jewell Wallace
STIGLER — Jewell Wallace, 87, of Stiger died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, in Moore, Okla. She was the widow of Rolland Wallace.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Free Will Baptist Church in Stiger with burial at Stigler City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by a daughter, Debby Lefler of Owasso, Okla.; two sons, James Wallace of Oklahoma City and Jim Wallace of Salina, Kan.; a brother, Vernon Wilson of Nipoma, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ryan and Jimmy Lefler, Kenneth Webster, Ron Kimery, Deon Bumpers and Pat Rose.

Willie Young
Willie Mae Young, 88, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 18, 1913, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, the Builders Sunday school class and the United Methodist Women of St. Paul.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial at Barling City Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Pat Hughes of Fort Smith; a son, Gary Young of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, June Krajewski of Fort Smith; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4100 Grand Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72904.

Stella Boyd
WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — Stella P. Boyd, 86, of West Columbia, S.C., formerly of Howe, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, in Columbia, S.C. She was born Sept. 26, 1916, in Atoka, Okla. She was a homemaker, a graduate of Howe High School and a former member of Howe Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God in Howe with burial at Howe Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by her husband, Fred; and a son, Parris Boyd of West Columbia, S.C.

Billy Hughes
Billy Eugene Hughes, 74, of Van Buren died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a Merchant Marine veteran, a retired movie producer and stunt man, having worked with John Wayne and Rock Hudson and produced the movie “Smoke In The Wind.”
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Alicia; a daughter, Monica McFarland of Fort Smith; three sons, Billy E. Hughes of Santa Barbara, Calif., Chris Hughes of Seattle and Marshall Hughes of Van Nuys, Calif.; a brother, Robert Hughes of Arizona; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill Vickery, Wendall McFarland, Billy, Chris and Billy Hughes III.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Wallace
MCCURTAIN — James D. Wallace, infant son of Cynthia Wallace of McCurtain, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, in Tulsa hospital.
Graveside service will 2 p.m. today at Miners Cemetery in McCurtain under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister and two brothers; his grandmother, Linda Wallace of Florida; and great-grandparents, Elisha Robinson and Donnie and Barbara Porter, all of McCurtain.

Richard Cockburn
Richard Landon “Richie” Cockburn, 38, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was the manager of a meat market and a member of the Elks Lodge.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Duncan Cemetery in Waldron.
He is survived by his parents, C.L. and Patsy Cockburn of Mena; a sister, Terri Keith of Melbourne, Fla.; a brother, Kyle Cockburn of Medicine Park, Okla.; and a companion, Brandy Diez of Fort Smith.

Hurbert Fifield
COVE — Hurbert Wesley Fifield, 66, of Cove died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, in his home. He was born Sept. 21, 1936, in Stockton, Calif. He was a painter.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cove under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Diann; two sons, Gregory and Aaron Fifield, both of Russellville; and two grandchildren.

Rev. Charles McCartney
HEAVENER — The Rev. Charles William McCartney, 78, of Heavener died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, in his home. He was born July 19, 1024, in Red Oak. He was retired from the Navy, from teaching and was a Methodist preacher. He preached in several local Methodist churches, at Rocky Point United Methodist, Hodgen, Howe and Red Oak. He was the widower of Wanda McCartney.
Memorial services are pending. Cremation services under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by two sons, Raymond Ellis Campbell McCartney of Oklahoma City and Ellis Campbell McCartney of London, England; two brothers, Gene McCartney of Edmond, Okla., and Leon McCartney of Mexico; and five grandchildren.

Jimmie Hughey
STIGLER — Jimmie Lynn Hughey, 85, of Stigler died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, in Stigler. She was the widow of Chester Hughey.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at 3 p.m. at Baxter Springs Cemetery in Baxter Springs, Kan.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail Saunders of Stigler; four sisters, Mildred Mace of Broken Arrow, Okla., Velma Buntin and Pat Reavis, both of Stigler, and Josie Christy of Claremore, Okla.; a brother, John Sturdy of Stigler; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Alan Saunders, Matthew, Lucas and Jesse Harrell, Russell Roberts, Bill Whitlow and Michael Hughey.

Quentin Bean
CLARKSVILLE — Quentin Bean, 82, of Clarksville died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, in a local nursing home. He was born May 11, 1920, in Clarksville. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired carpenter.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stillwell Cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He survived by two daughters, Evelyn Andersen of Clarksville and Phyllis Atkins of Peyton, Colo.; a sister, Emma Dell Leeds of Clarksville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joel and Brian Atkins, Adam and Joshua Moore.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Paul Murphy
CHARLESTON — Paul W. Murphy, 58, of Charleston, formerly of Ranger, Texas, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, in his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1944, in Ranger, Texas. He was retired from the City of Fort Worth, Texas, served in the Army from 1965 to 1968, served in Vietnam, where he obtained specialist E-4 status and received the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars and Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, was past post commander, junior vice commander, adjutant and assistant quartermaster in his VFW Post, life member of the VFW, member of the United Patriots of American, where he served two terms on the board of directors and a member of American Legion and VVA. He was the widower of Juanita Morgan Murphy.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, Texas, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Ranger, Texas.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Patricia Hargrave; a stepson, Jimmy Morgan; four brothers, Richard Murphy of White Oak, Texas, Gary Don, Raymod and A. Dewain Murphy, all of Wills Point, Texas; a halfbrother, Dale Clark of Wills Point, Texas; four stepgrandchildren and a stepgreat-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be members of VFW Post No. 4136 of Eastland, Texas.
Honorary pallbearers will be VFW and Auxiliary members.
Memorial contributions may be made to VFW of Eastland, Texas, Vietnam Veterans Memorial or the American Cancer Society.

Ores Head
MULBERRY — Ores E. Head, 87, of Mulberry died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a retired grader operator for Madison County Road Department and served in the Civilian Conservation Corp.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Old Dallas Cemetery near Mena under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; three daughters, Orlene Clift of Mena, Emma Jean Hall of Owensboro, Ky. and Bethena Reynolds of Mulberry; four sons, Ernie Head of Huntsville, Albert Head of Green Forest, Benny and Bodie Head, both of Mulberry; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jessica Mattox
HOWE — Jessica Lynn Mattox, 21, of Howe died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, in Tulsa. She was of the Assembly of God faith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Poteau First Assembly of God with burial at Howe Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by her parents, Dennis Mattox of Howe and Sherry Keeney of Howe; two brothers, Preston and Charley Mattox, both of Howe; maternal grandmother, Vickie Keeney of Hodgen; and maternal great-grandmother, Lucille Keeney of Plainview.
Pallbearers will be Dennis, Preston, Charley and Roger Mattox Jr., Shawn Keeney and Jeffery McKenzie.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Jerry Smith
HEAVENER — Jerry Wayne Smith, 61, of Heavener died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, in Heavener. He was a carpenter and a member of Independence Baptist Church.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by a daughter, JoAnna Marie King of Springdale; four sisters, Helen Watkins of Oklahoma City, Nancy Ollar of Heavener, Phyllis Robinson of Nobleton, Fla., and Sharon Andrews of Coweta, Okla.; a brother, Danny Smith of Muskogee, Okla.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Winnie Shibley
Winnie Bea Shibley, 98, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, in her home. She worked for Federal Defense Department, was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Missionary Society, the Fort Smith Garden Club and the Senior Citizens Club. She attended Draughn’s Business College and was a former teacher.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a sister, Margie Pope of Tulsa; a niece; two nephews; six great-nieces and nephews.

Jeffrey Worst
Jeffrey Louis Worst, 37, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 17, 1965, in Valodosta, Ga. He was a employee of Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission, a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Southside Baptist Church with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Ann Hughes of Fort Smith; a sister, Jennifer Ann Weaver of Fort Smith; and maternal grandfather, Harold Nelson Young of Jenks, Okla.
Pallbearers will be Chris Allen, Matthew Walbe, John Autry, John Rose, Dr. John Wright, David Dearinger, Les Mitchell and Eric Nally.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 2400 Dodson Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901.
