Raymond Brasher
HACKETT — Raymond Brasher, 73, of Hackett died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was retired from the Air Force and Civil Service and a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and a lifetime member of the VFW.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Hackett with burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hackett with military honors under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Fauna; two daughters, Barbara Lind of Hackett and Patricia Hoopengarner of Hartford; a son, Danny Brasher of Hartford; four sisters, Lois Black of Hackett, Elsie Byrd, Willa Mason and Kay Nelson, all of Greenwood; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill Black, Justin and Jerrod Hoopengarner, Jessica Lind, Danny Ray Cowan and Don Brasher.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Jimmie Boen
ARKOMA — Jimmie Boen, 69, of Arkoma died Thursday, March 14, 2002, in a local hospital. He was born June 7, 1932, in Boxley. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a self-employed core dealer, a steel guitar builder and a member of New Bethel Assembly of God in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday in New Bethel Assembly of God with burial at U. S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; a daughter, Debra Boen Trosper of Fort Smith; a son, Tim Boen of Arkoma; a foster son, Heip Luong of Fort Smith; a sister, Mildred Gandy of Redfield; three brothers, Levi, Doyle and Henry Marion, all of Muldrow; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael, Keith, Keith Michael, William, Jack and Mark Boen.
Honorary pallbearers will be guitar buddies.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Neil Boles
Neil Boles, 82, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Dardanelle. He was a retired desk sergeant for the Civil Service and was of the Methodist faith. He was the widower of Sophia.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bearley Cemetery in Dardanelle under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a son, Billy Bock of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Kitty Baker of Russellville and Nina Hunt of Dardanelle; a brother, Keith Boles of California; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ray Baraclough, Joe Hart, Jeff Cohen, Kirk Bock, Paul Summerhill, Mark Jelks and Harold Autry.

Enid Shufelberger
MENA — Enid Ione Shufelberger, 91, Mena died Thursday, March 14, 2002, in Mena. She was born May 2, 1910, in Seward County, Kan. She was an aircraft worker for Beach Aircraft, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Gold Star Widows of America and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a homemaker and was a Methodist. She was the widow of Lloyd Russell Shufelberger.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Six Mile Cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by a son, Lloyd Shufelberger of Hatfield; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Walter Davidson Jr.
Walter Davidson Jr., 80, of Fort Smith died Thursday, March 14, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was an Air Force veteran of the World War II and the Korean War and was retired from Long-Bell Lumber Company after 25 years as a manager in Fort Smith, Oklahoma City and Wichita Falls, Texas. He worked for 12 years in the accounting department of Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Company. He graduated from University of Oklahoma School of Business in Norman, Okla., and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Methodist Men’s Club, Seekers Bible Class, a former member of the administrative board at First United Methodist Church, the American Legion, board of directors Friends of the Fort Smith Public Library, past president of AOG Retirees, 32nd degree Mason, the Sebastian Lodge, No. 706, Scottish Rite, the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at the University of Oklahoma and he supported the University of Arkansas Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Roebuck Chapel with private family interment at Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; a brother, James R. Davidson of San Diego; and five nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Seekers Bible Class and Friday Men’s Bible Study at First United Methodist Church.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Judy Feller
BARLING — Judy Sullivan Feller, 56, of Barling died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, in Paris. She was a member of Barling United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel of Fort Smith with family committal at Coal Hill Cemetery in Coal Hill.
She is survived by two sons, Wade and Marshal Fender, both of Fort Smith; her father, Bill Sullivan of Fort Smith; and a brother, Larry Sullivan of Fort Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to Crisis Center for Women, 401 Lexington Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

David Shields
David Shields, 46, of Van Buren died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a fork lift driver for Baldor Electric in Fort Smith. David loved golfing, riding motorcycles and was a devoted father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Herschel L. Shields.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home. David will be cremated.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda of the home; a daughter, Melissa and husband, Bobby McCowan of Van Buren; a son, Drew and wife, Kelly Shields of Waxahachie, Texas; his mother, Lois Shields of Huntington; a brother, Randy Shields of Humble, Texas; two grandchildren, Justice Arter and Dylan McCowan, both of Van Buren.

Georgia J. Riddle
Georgia J. Riddle, 87, of Van Buren died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a retired employee of Hayes & King and a member of Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren and a supporter of City Heights United Methodist Church in Van Buren. She graduated from Van Buren High School in 1934; her daughter Joe Ellen graduated from Van Buren High School in 1954; granddaughter Becky Miller graduated from Van Buren High School in 1974 and her great-grandson Aaron Miller graduated from Van Buren High School in 1994. She is preceded in death by her husband, Orvie A. Riddle who died in 1985.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with private burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Joe Ellen and her husband, Ray Jones of Van Buren; two sisters, Almeda Tudor of Bakersfield, Calif., and Jane Warren of Collinsville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Becky and her husband, Randy Miller of Van Buren and Joe Ray and his wife, Becky Jones of Grayson, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Anna Miller, Aaron and his wife, Sherry Miller and Brandon Jones and two great-great-grandchildren, Ray and Andru Miller.

Irene Cecilia Udouj
Irene Cecilia Udouj, 83, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was the owner of Sundridge Farms in Lavaca and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Mass will be 10 a.m. today in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Anne Udouj of Fort Smith, Mary J. Udouj of Fort Smith and Ellen Udouj Echols and husband, Walter of Fort Smith; two sons, Ronald Udouj and wife, Jane of Fort Smith and Phillip Udouj and wife, Susie of Fort Smith; two sisters, Margaret Van Alstine of Vancouver, Wash., and Lucy Steitz of Carrollton, Texas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her husband Herman J. Udouj preceded her in death.
Pallbearers will be Dick, Mike, Danny and Joe Udouj, David and Mike Griggs.

Nancy Elizabeth Roberts Stone
Nancy Elizabeth Roberts Stone, 95, of Booneville died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, in Booneville. She was retired from the State Sanitarium where she worked in housekeeping. She was a charter member of The Victory Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Stone.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in The Victory Baptist Church in Booneville with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by daughter-in-law, Dorothy Stone of Booneville; two sisters, Vada Stone and Sarah Turley, both of Booneville; four grandchildren, David Wayne, James Ray, Ronnie Floyd and Mark Alan Stone and five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson and a son of the heart, John Ross Williams.
Pallbearers will be Shelburne Bryant, Ray Gossett, Larry Burwell, Virgil Farmer, Roger Turley and Bob Mobley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Reiners, Dean Jeffries, Richard Myers and George French.

Roger Keith Curry Jr.
Roger Keith Curry Jr., 14, of Van Buren died Thursday, March 7, 2002, in Van Buren. Roger was a student at Coleman Junior High School in Van Buren where he loved to act, often joining the school’s Drama Club and performing skits at church. Basketball was one of his many loves and Michael Jordan was his favorite player. Roger also won a three point shooting contest at his school. He had a passion for writing and wrote numerous short stories and poems and often edited the school papers. At age 12, Young Americans published one of his works in the 2000 edition of the “Anthology Poetry”.
Roger resided with and is survived by his aunt and uncle, Jay and Tammy Douglas of Van Buren; he is also survived by his mother, Cheryl L. Curry of Fayetteville; three sisters, Brittany, Nicole and Karyssa Curry, all of Fayetteville; his cousins, David, Michael, Nicholas and Tiffany Douglas of Van Buren; his maternal grandparents, Nancy and Gerald Lewis of Fort Smith; paternal grandparents, David and Ollie Birkett of Mukilteo, Wash., and Joe McVey of Fort Smith; uncles Bobby Ackerman of San Diego, Dewayne Ackerman of Van Buren, Jim Curry of Arlington, Wash., and Dave Curry of Glendora, Calif. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Keith Curry Sr. and his aunt, Summer McVey.
Memorial service was held Thursday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel of Fort Smith. The body will be cremated and there will be no public viewing.

Bertha “Connie” Beecher
Bertha “Connie” Beecher, 83, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 16, 2002, in a local hospital following a short illness. She was a homemaker and member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thornton D. Beecher, and a son, William “Butchie” Beecher.
She is survived by four daughters, Joyce Taylor of Fort Smith, Gloria Standifird of Porum, Okla., Susan Miller of Noblesville, Ind., and Nancy Winters of Russellville; six grandchildren, Larry Edwards of Van Buren, Holly Miller of Noblesville, Kenny Taylor of Fort Smith and Matthew, Jennifer and Jessica Winters, all of Russellville; and a great-grandchild, Anissa Shea Edwards of Van Buren.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today in Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Christ the King Catholic Church in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Larry Edwards, Kenny Taylor, Matthew Winters, Jason Hill, Jeremy Prater and Josh Walters.

Ola Matlock
SEYMOUR, Tenn. — Ola Matlock, 90, of Seymour, Tenn., formerly of Fort Smith, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, in Seymour. She was retired from Dixie Cup & Catherine’s Stout Shoppe in Fort Smith and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Seymour. She was the widow of Columbus Matlock.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Barling Cemetery in Barling.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty Moses of Seymour, Linda Sue Smith of Springfield, Mo., and Louise Cameron of Maryville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Mike, Pamela, Gary, Keith, Karen, Jimmy and Christie; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Sam Nelson, Mike Swaim, Troy Ward and Gary Cameron.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Loy May
BOONEVILLE — Loy Voden May, 78, of Booneville died Saturday, March 16, 2002, in his home. He was a farmer and a member of Glendale Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Pine Log Church with burial in Pine Log Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine; two daughters, Linda Sue Pettycord of Waveland and Sherry Kay Reeder of Barling; two sons, Jerry Don May and Loy Wayne May, both of Booneville; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Amos, Alan and Russell Pettycord, Randy May, Mike Lewis and Damon Reeder.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robert Jones
Robert J. Jones, 79, of Fort Smith died Sunday, March 17, 2002, in a local hospital. He was born July 8, 1922, in Van Buren. He was a member of the Midland Heights United Methodist Church and American Legion Post No. 31, a 32nd Degree Mason, a World War II Air Corps veteran, was retired after 38 years as a road driver for ABF and was honored with an Extensive Safety Record at ABF.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Lou; two sons, Sam K. Jones of Tulsa and Stacey Jones of Fort Smith; four grandchildren, Holly Raley and Neile, Staci and Amanda Jones; and a great-grandchild, McKenna Raley.
Pallbearers will be Neyron Edwards, Joel Stubblefield, Bill Pitts, Harold Blaylock, Leon Taylor and Dr. Bill Stewart.
