Harrold King
MULBERRY — Harrold Ray King, 79, of Mulberry died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, in his home. He was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Franklin County. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Mulberry, worked 24 years for United Carbon Co. in Satanta, Kan., and Shamrock, Texas, and raised turkey and cattle for 27 years.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Mulberry with burial at New Cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Delorise Martin of Hackett and Sharon Kay Dearmond of Harrah, Okla.; a son, Carroll King of Austin, Minn.; three sisters, Irene Bundell of Springdale, Louise Brawner of Fort Smith and Suzie Duncon of Ozark; four brothers, Jack King of Ozark, John King of Shamrock, Texas, Champ King of Mulberry and Jimmy King of Mountainburg; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ray Jackson, Leroy Kizer, Jim Hamilton, Jim Moore, Fred Moon and Larry Goodnoh.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Arkansas, 4942 W. Markham, Suite 100, Little Rock, AR 72205.

John Jiles
STIGLER — John Leo Jiles, 88, of Stigler died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in Stigler.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at Whitefield Cemetery in Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Bess; a daughter, Regina Turrentine of Ardmore, Okla.; a son, Ronnie James Jiles of Midwest City, Okla.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ray Cloud, Vernon Biggs, Sonny Barbee, Jimmy Pitts, Brian and Jamie Turrentine and Johnny Jiles.

Maetta Jacobs
Maetta L. Jacobs, 64, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was the retired owner of Jacobs Piano and Organ and former co-owner of Hammond Organ Studio of Fort Smith, former organist at Wood Memorial Christian Church of Van Buren, organist and choir director at First United Methodist Church of Van Buren, organist and cantor for United Hebrew Temple of Fort Smith, a member and past matron of Liberty Chapter No. 402 of Eastern Star, past grand organist for Grand Chapter of the Easter Star of Arkansas.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial of cremains at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, c/o of the Mercy Foundation or Development, 7301 Rogers Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72903.

W.D. McLaughlin
HEAVENER — W.D. “Tater” McLaughlin, 66, of Heavener died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, in his home. He was a retired coal miner and farmer and rancher.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Heavener with burial at Summerfield Cemetery in Summerfield under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by a daughter, Diane Moore of Evansville, Ind.; six sons, Davy and Danny McLaughlin, both of Heavener, Brian McLaughlin of Big Cedar, Warren Chavers of Henderson Ky., Clyde Chavers of Heavener and Rick Mintz of Poteau; four sisters, Ruby and Lillie Steelman and Rose Chaney, all Heavener, and Velma Nobles of Hot Springs; two brothers, Paul McLaughlin of Heavener and Tom McLaughlin of Corydon, Ky.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Charlene McLaughlin
HEAVENER — Charlene McLaughlin, 64, of Heavener died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, in her home. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Poteau.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Heavener with burial at Summerfield Cemetery in Summerfield under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane Moore of Evansville, Ind.; six sons, Davy and Danny McLaughlin, both of Heavener, Brian McLaughlin of Big Cedar, Warren Chavers of Henderson, Ky., Clyde Chavers of Heavener and Rick Mintz of Poteau; three sisters, Willie Brooks of Antlers, Okla., Mary Bell of El Reno, Calif., and Vessie Willhite of Greenwood; a brother, Denver Whitmore of Wister; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Sister Mayme Finley
Sister Mayme Finley, 92, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in her home. She was a registered nurse and registered Medical Records Librarian. She made her religious profession on June 24, 1935.
Vespers will be at 7:30 p.m. today at St. Scholastica Monastery in Fort Smith.
Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel with burial at St. Scholastica Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a brother, Charles Oktavec of The Woodlands, Texas; and sisters of her religious community.
Pallbearers will be Benedictine sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Scholastica Continuing Care Fund, P.O. Box 3489, Fort Smith, AR 72913.

Gary Landers Jr.
Gary L. Landers Jr., 26, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in a local hospital. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his parents, Linda and Gary Landers Sr. of Fort Smith; two sisters, Christina and Michelle Landers, both of Escondido, Calif.; four brothers, Fredrick and William Brewer, Michael Reed and Anthony Harrison, all of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Fredrick and William Brewer, Johnny and Jeffrey Jones, Thomas and James Landers.

Roger Ransom
Roger F. Ransom, 75, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in Tulsa. He was a retired route salesman for Hiland Diary, a member of Belle Point Masonic Lodge No. 20 F&AM the Scottish Rite Bodies of Western Arkansas and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; a son, Ronnie Ransom of Fayetteville; a brother, Billy Ransom of Richardson, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Bill Kilgore, Johnny Gallagher, Larry Williams, Howard Tillery, Lawrence Mirus and Mike Sexton.

Nedra Beaty
MENA — Nedra Beaty, 89, of Mena died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a retired school bus driver for 26 years with the Waldron Public Schools, a teacher and substitute in the school system, worked at Douglas Aircraft during the depression, and owned and operated Downtown Speed Wash in Waldron for seven years. She was the widow of Grady Beaty.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Cemetery in Nella under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Hook of Blackfork; 10 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 4 to 7 p.m.

Grady Hudlow
RUSSELLVILLE — Grady T. Hudlow, 95, of Russellville died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, in a local nursing home. He was born July 16, 1907, in Center Valley. He was an electrician, a 50-year plus member of Masonic Lodge, the Arkansas River Valley Amateur Radio Foundation (K5OES) and the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with burial at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jerry, Mike and Jason Hudlow, Ben Hillis, Dennis Shaeffer and Tom Neumeier.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lloyd Caves
SALLISAW — Lloyd J. Caves, 81, of Sallisaw died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was born July 4, 1921, in Pisgah, Ala. He was a retired cement truck driver, a veteran of World War II and a Protestant.
The body was cremated under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by four daughters, Vicki Leslie of Vian, Tammy Hedge of Modesto, Calif., Sherry Robbins of Oakdale, Calif., and Brenda Brown of Arizona; two sons, Rex Robbins of Sallisaw and Clint Davis of Riverbank, Calif.; a sister, Della Tiner of Port Payne, Ala.; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a companion, Patricia Robbins of the home.

Vida Downs
PANAMA — Vida Lou “Billie” Downs, 81, of Panama died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, in Pocola. She was born Dec. 13, 1921. She worked at a day care center and was a member of First Baptist Church in Panama.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Panama with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Panama under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by three daughters, Patsy Goines of Spiro, Barbara Klahn and Beverly Fisher, both of Panama; two sons, Thomas Eugene Downs of Mannford, Okla., and Kenneth Downs of Muldrow; a sister, Rdella DeWitt of Stockton, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Duncan, J.D. Ollar, Harold Dodson, Bill Barlow, Johnny Bell, Rick Anderson and Landy Stankewitz.

Bondie Howard
BOONEVILLE — Bondie Chester Howard, 85, of Booneville died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a retired truck driver, a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Moore’s Chapel Church with burial at Moore’s Chapel Cemetery near Waveland under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Ophelia; three daughters, Nita Fauchs of Havana, Mary Kathryn Horton and Betty Sue Frost, both of Booneville; a sister, Christine Phillips of Tracy, Calif.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Betty Louise Petway
Betty Louise Petway, 75, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and preceded in death by her husband, Glen H. Petway.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Glenda and husband, Don Burris of Fort Smith, Belinda L. Petway of Mountainburg and Mary “Andy” and Michael Baxley of Little Rock; a sister, Billie “Melba” Sharum of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Angela Hartwig, Adam Burris and Colin Baxley; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor and Shelby Hartwig and Kevin Burris.
Pallbearers will be Richard Magee, Clifton Price, Randy Jones, Billy George Farrar, Frank Garcia, Guy Spradley, Gary Sivley, Jim Moore, Bill Fant and Curtis Massey.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Lung Association, 211 Natural Resources, Little Rock, AR 72205.

Gerald Campbell
Gerald Campbell, 63, died at home Monday, Dec. 23, 2002. He was born May 19, 1939, to William Louis and Mattie Evelyn France Campbell at the head of Hurricane Creek in Bidville in Crawford County. He was a longtime business owner and cattleman in Alma and worked for the County Road Department several years. He was employed by Pack Salvage until he retired in 2001.
Survivors are two daughters, Lee Ann Bowline and husband, Carvin and Kelly Jo Campbell, all of Alma; three sisters, Geneva Shepherd and husband, Arlis of Winslow, Josephine Reed of Mountainburg and Lois Holt and husband, Jesse of Ringold, Ga.; and three brothers, Bill Campbell and wife, Helen and Thurman Campbell, all of Mountainburg, and Denver and wife, Ruth of Alma. He is also survived by seven nieces and seven nephews along with a host of friends and extended family.
Services were held Thursday at Locke Free Will Baptist Church with interment at Bidville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Randy Beller, Dick Douglas, Larry Jackson, Duke Campbell, Ivan and Clyde Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Russell Hill, Jack Beller, Myrl Marrs and James Dollard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Locke Free Will Baptist Church, Old Locke Road, Mountainburg, AR 72946 or Mountainburg Public Library, 1300 Arkansas 71 North, Mountainburg, AR 72946.

Mrs. Jessie Simco
Mrs. Jessie Simco, 91, of Mountainburg died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a retired cafeteria worker for the Mountainburg School System, a member of Mountainburg Presbyterian Church and a life long resident of Crawford County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Seaph Simco; and a brother, Roy Wheeler.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mountainburg Presbyterian Church with burial at Conley Cemetery in Mountainburg under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Larry Goodner of Mountainburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Evelyn Simco of Phoenix and Bill and Cheryl Simco of Memphis; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Jennifer and Brian Kimes of Alma and Melissa and Tony James of Alma; and a grandson, Billy Simco of Memphis.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Hayre, David Ross, Giles and Lanier France, Jimmy Rogers and Gary Lee Marshell.
The body may be viewed until 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountainburg Presbyterian Church Foundation.
