Howard Arnwine Sr.
MCCURTAIN, Okla. — Howard B. Arnwine Sr., 84, of McCurtain died Thursday, March 27, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a graduate of McCurtain High School and Okmulgee Vo-Tech, was retired from American Airlines and a rancher. He was the widower of Freda Arnwine.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Free Will Baptist Church in McCurtain with burial at Miners Cemetery in McCurtain under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by a daughter, Diesa Anderson of McCurtain; two sons, Perry and Howard Arnwine Jr., both of McCurtain; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James and Dean Arnwine, R.P. Bryant, John Labor Jr. and Mike McCafferty.

Mary Ann “Marie” Weisenfels
Mary Ann “Marie” Weisenfels, 67, of Scranton died March 26, 2003, in Clarksville of natural causes. She was a retired secretary of Farm Bureau in Paris, after working for 22 years, was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Morrison Bluff, the St. Ann’s Altar Society, coordinator of annual Christian Women’s Salad Supper 2002 and past religion teacher, a member of Prairie View Extension Homemakers, the Cattleman’s Association, Farm Bureau Women’s Committee, volunteer for North Logan County Fair and past 4-H leader. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Anton Weisenfels.
Rosary will be 8 p.m. today at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Morrison Bluff. Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with burial at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Morrison Bluff under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Randy Kern of Fort Smith and Sandy and Kevin Siebenmorgen of Scranton; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Kristine Spencer of Russellville; her mother, Albina Zionce of North Little Rock; three sisters, Florence Banks of Little Rock, Sister Carolyn Zionce R.S.M. of Clarksdale, Miss., and Judy Potter of Alexander; a brother, Edward Zionce of North Little Rock; nine grandchildren, Renae, Kyle, Julie, Austin, Kimberly and Rachel Siebenmorgen, David, Jamie and Matt Kern.
Pallbearers will be David Kern, Kyle and Mark Siebenmorgen, Hardy Banks Jr., Joe Zionce, Louis and Gary Weisenfels and Jeff Vorster.

Ardella Willis
Ardella Willis, 73, of Kibler died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, in a local nursing home. She was retired from Fort Smith Rim & Bow and a member of Alma Full Gospel Outreach Church. She was the widow of Vurn Willis. She also was preceded in death by a son, Roy Dean Willis; a grandson, Justin Rockwood; a sister, Barbara Bridewater; and two brothers, J.M. and Alvey Shipp.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Hogan Cemetery near Clarksville.
She is survived by four daughters, Jean Wilkey and Mary Bowles, both of Kibler, Sue Bowles of Alma and Brenda Rockwood of Van Buren; four sons, Claude and James Willis of Kibler, Everett Willis of Ozone and Bill Willis of Van Buren; two sisters, Imogene Hobson of Van Buren and Ilee Wilmon of Alma; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Vernon S.L. Smith
Vernon S.L. Smith, 85, of Roland died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, in McAlester, Okla. He was born Feb. 28, 1918, in Okemah, Okla. He was a nondenominational minister for 26 years, a Mason Lodge No. 6 in Van Buren and a member of DAV. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years, Irene.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with a 2:30 p.m. graveside service at Okemah Cemetery in Okemah, Okla.
He is survived by four daughters, Verene Parker of Charleston, Ruth Hinshaw of Leosburg, Mo., Evelyn Sanders of Hazelwood, Mo., and Elizabeth Priest of Tempe, Ariz.; three stepdaughters, Nancy Wilson and Mary Redden, both of Roland, and Veroqua Yaffe of Fort Smith; a stepson, N.W. Bowling of Roland; a sister, Velma Joliff of Tulsa; two brothers, Raymond and Hubert Smith, both of Tulsa; 54 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 92 W. Sunbridge Drive, Fayetteville, AR 72703.

Gilbert Lawrence Starnes
Gilbert Lawrence Starnes, 59, of Greenwood died Thursday, March 27, 2003, in Greenwood. He was born March 28, 1944, in Washington, D.C. and lived in Little Rock from 1948-74, where he attended Forrest Park Elementary School and Joe T. Robinson Jr. High School. In 1974, he moved to Waldron.
Mr. Starnes is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Fondren Starnes, and a brother, Kenneth Fondren Starnes II. He is survived by his mother, Jean Roderick of Houston; two sisters, Kay Bowers of Maryville, Tenn., and Sally Goldberg of Houston. Other survivors include an uncle, Buddy Gray of Waldron and an aunt, Edna Harrison of Waldron, three nieces, three nephews and several cousins.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with Bishop David Lee of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiating. Interment will be at Duncan Cemetery in Waldron.

Ralph Cluck
Ralph W. Cluck, 76, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 29, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was the former owner and operator of Standard Glass Co. and a member of Bluff Avenue Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Billie; three sons, Darrell Cluck of Monroe, La., Allen Cluck of Rudy and Rodney Cluck of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Donna Jones of New Orleans; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robbie and Jarrod Cluck, Larry Vaught, Bryan Loftin, Ashley Hartness and Larry Redfern.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Opal Arnett
Opal Arnett, 98, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 29, 2003, in Fort Smith. She was born Jan. 1, 1905, in Etna. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Paris and the widow of Hugh Arnett.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Caulksville City Cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Tripp of Fort Smith; a son, Hugh Arnett of Fort Smith; two sisters, Kate Riley of Caulksville and Ted Moore of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Rick Hale, Steve Ogelsby, Lee King, Andy Kaelin, Brent Hale and Bobby Bornmann.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jimmy Brotherton
BRANCH — Jimmy Don Brotherton, 65, of Branch died Saturday, March 29, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born Jan. 17, 1938, in Branch. He was a retired brick mason and timber buyer and a member of National Lodge No. 411 in Ratcliff and Branch First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Branch First Baptist Church with burial at Garden of Memories in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Becky Brotherton of Branch; two sons, Monte Brotherton and Matt Brotherton, both of Charleston; two sisters, Regina Kirkpatrick of DeQueen and Gloria Dunn of Charleston; two brothers, Tim Brotherton of DeQueen and Dwight Brotherton of Waldron; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jim Wyatt, Jack Oehlschlager, Rex Shumate, Joe Cloven, Jerald Hattabaugh, James Hammond, Billy Fonseca and Bob Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers will be the First Baptist Church Adult Men’s Sunday School Class.

Nina Pickle
POTEAU — Nina J. Pickle, 83, of Poteau died Saturday, March 29, 2003, in Poteau. She was born July 21, 1919, in Poteau. She was a retired teacher and of the Protestant faith. She was the widow of Sylvan Pickle.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Jackson of Aledo, Texas; two sons, Ralph Pickle of Poteau and Dale Pickle of Houston; three sisters, Cassie Hammer of Poteau, Troyce Tanner of Fort Worth, Texas, and Ruth Peck of San Diego; a brother, Troy Dees; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Betty Muse
BOONEVILLE — Betty Carol Muse, 51, of Booneville died Sunday, March 30, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a teacher assistant at the Booneville Human Development Center.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God in Booneville with burial at the Carolan Cemetery near Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by her husband, Harold; a daughter, Ashley Tenille Muse of Booneville; and a sister, Barbara Wilson of Booneville.
Pallbearers will be Billy and Wayne Crawley, Charles Goodwin, James Thomas, Bobby Cobb and Nick Cunningham.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

May Kennedy
CHARLESTON — May Kennedy, 74, of Charleston died Saturday, March 29, 2003, in her home. She was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Detroit. She was a retired computer programmer for the Van Buren Water Department and was of the Methodist faith. She was the widow of Al Kennedy.
Graveside service will be10 a.m. today at Morris Cemetery in Bloomer under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Davis of Charleston; a sister, Grace Fields of Portland, Ore.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Huffman
Mary E. Huffman, 79, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 29, 2003, in Poteau. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
No local service will be held in Fort Smith. Burial will be at Oaktown Cemetery in Oaktown, Ind., under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith and McClure Funeral Home of Bruceville, Ind.
She is survived by two daughters, Suellen Owens of Stevenson, Ala., and Jean Anne Whigham of Poteau; two sons, William Paul Huffman of Monteagle, Tenn., and James C. Huffman of Kirkland, Wash.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home.

Earl Oliver
ALMA — Earl Ray Oliver, 64, of Alma died Friday, March 28, 2003, in his home. He was a retired rancher and a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Yoestown Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie; a son, Donald Oliver of Alma; two sisters, Betty Hamilton of Alma and Donna Hamilton of Van Buren; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chuck and D.J. Oliver, Ricky and Henry Hamilton, Bill Brock and Jeff Painter.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

John Corbell
MULDROW — John “J.T.” Corbell, 73, of Muldrow died Thursday, March 27, 2003, in Muldrow. He was a retired master electrician for Park O Meter of Russellville, a member of Lee’s Chapel Assembly of God and a veteran of the Navy and the Naval Reserves, serving during the Korean War.
Funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Lee’s Chapel Assembly of God in Muldrow with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Kaye; a daughter, Cindy Fowler of Springdale; a son, Greg Corbell; his mother, Jewel Corbell of Van Buren; three sisters, Shirley Lea of Green Briar, Barbara Matsoukas of Jacksonville and Linda Albright of Van Buren; two brothers, Otis Corbell of New Blaine and Grover Corbell of Malvern; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Lee’s Chapel Assembly of God.

Lucille Fitzgerald
MOUNTAINBURG — Lucille V. “Granny” Fitzgerald, 77, of Mountainburg died Saturday, March 29, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of Pigeon Creek Freewill Baptist Church, a lifelong resident of Crawford County and the widow of B.J. Fitzgerald.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by four daughters, Patty Cox of La Crescenta, Calif., Debbie Nauman of Van Buren, Beverly Adams of Winslow and Johnnie Elkins of Mountainburg; a son, Lee Roddy of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; a sister, Johnnie Bentley of Lawton, Okla.; a brother, Billy Crawford of Wichita, Kan.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Nelson and Andrew Adams, Jerry Davidson and B.J. Elkins.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
