Mary Flippin
Mary Elizabeth Earp Flippin, 56, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in her home. She was a office receptionist for A.D. Jenkins Eye Clinic and a member of 43 Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, David; a daughter, Lori Earp of Van Buren; a son, C.B. Earp Jr. of Van Buren; two stepdaughters, Cathy Ferguson and Nancy Leslie, both of Van Buren; a stepson, David Flippin of Springfield, Ore.; her mother, Helen Wescott of Van Buren; three sisters, Carol Reeves, Lenora Hines and Frances Hunt, all of Van Buren; one grandchild; and seven stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Derek Brewer, Kyle Daniels, Mike Reeves, Bill Hunt, Tim Hines and Larry West.

Nelda Brown
SCRANTON — Nelda Cleo Brown, 70, of Scranton died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, in Clarksville. She was a retired factory worker, a member of Full Gospel Mission Church in Paris and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was the widow of Lawton Brown.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Full Gospel Mission Church in Paris with burial at McKendree Cemetery in Subiaco under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by two daughters, Nelda Spicer of Scranton and Mary Wood of Clarksville; a son, Christopher Brown of Scranton; a sister, Willene Noe of Paris; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Johnston, Ken Jones, Ronnie Bradley, Doyle Benson, Billy Hughes, Arlen Johnson, Kenny Thompson and Bill Burkett.
The family will visit with friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Opal Richmond
Opal Gibbs Richmond, 88, of Van Buren died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, in Van Buren. She was born May 28, 1914, in Crawford County. She was a homemaker, of the Assembly of God faith. She was the widow of Joe Richmond.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Brown of Van Buren and Mary Dutton of Rudy; a son, Jimmy Richmond of Evansville; a sister, Betty Cox of Gentry; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stevie Dufresne, Vestal Woods, Rickey Reichert, George Brown, Charles Dutton and Glen Van Dagriff.

William Brown
DELAWARE — William D. “Bill” Brown, 67, of Delaware died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, in Delaware. He was a retired Navy chief and awarded Bronze Star with V for Valor.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. today at Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; nine daughters, Leslie Brown of San Francisco, Rebel Whittaker of Greenwood, Kim Nigely of Port Charlotte, Texas, Lila Iott and Valerie Wiliams, both of Mountain Grove, Mo., Cindy Perez of LaVergne, Tenn., Terri White of Highland Ranch, Texas, Vicki Terrell of Marathon, Fla., and Jeanne Hunt of Lonoke; a son, Michael Van Edwards of Tucson, Ariz.; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ralph Hixson
SUBIACO — Ralph Allen Hixson, 80, of Subiaco died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, in Paris. He was a retired dairy farmer and a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Crossroads.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Subiaco with burial at Ellsworth Cemetery in Subiaco under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Ola; a daughter, Donna Colten of Harlingen, Texas; a sister, Virginia Bridgland of Alexandria, Va.; a brother, Bill Hixson of Fairfax, Va.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Retha Avlos
Retha “Cozette” Avlos, 84, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in a local nursing home. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, a homemaker and business proprietor, past president of Fort Smith Garden Society and Flower Show judge. She was the widow of William Avlos.
Mass will be 10 a.m. today at St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Celeste Corbin of Bloomer; two sons, Douglas Avlos of Birmingham, Ala. and Greg Avlos of Fort Smith; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Taylor, Brett, Rueben, Jason, Matthew and Greg Avlos.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 8006, Fort Smith, AR 72902 or St. Boniface Catholic Church, 1820 N. B St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Herbert Swiney
SPIRO — Herbert Swiney, 74, of Spiro died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, in Spiro. He was a truck driver for the street department, a member of the Solid Rock Church of the Nazarene in Rock Island and an Army veteran of Work War II.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Solid Rock Church of the Nazarene in Rock Island with burial at Greenhill Cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Pocola.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen; two daughters, Deana Bruce of Highland, Ill., and Pat Wilhoit of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a son, John Tribble of St. Louis; a stepson, Bobby Boggs of Vallejo, Calif.; three sisters, Mildred Stroud of Spiro, Rosie Castleman of Earl and Nadine Baker of Eufaula; a brother, Tom Swiney of Panama; and three grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Eva Rogers
Eva Rogers, 27, of Fort Smith died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; three daughters, Desiree Rogers, Kelsey Rogers and Lindsey Rogers, all of the home; a son, Dakota Rogers of the home; her mother, Rachel Douglas of Rudy; her grandmother, Patricia Newman of Fort Smith; and five brothers, Stephen Douglas, Daniel Douglas, Catlin Douglas, Adam Douglas and Jessie Douglas, all of Rudy.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Rosales, Ronald Seymour, Charles Rogers Jr., Billy Rogers Jr., Roy Rogers Jr., and Jamey Burnett.
The family will visit with friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today.

Virginia Sharp
BOONEVILLE — Virginia Irene Sharp, 95, of Booneville died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, in Booneville. She was a member of the Glendale Baptist Church and the widow of Gene Sharp.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
She is survived by a son, Billy Gene Sharp of Eldorado, Kan.; a brother, Floyd Cabe of Booneville; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The body may be viewed this afternoon at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Glendale Baptist Church, 800 Arkansas Highway 60, Booneville, AR 72927.

Yvonne Nerney
CECIL — Yvonne L. Nerney, 76, of Cecil died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at her home.
Funeral will be Monday at Cecil Methodist Church with burial at Cecil Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Alongi of Cecil; a son, Robert Nerney of New Mexico; four sisters, Doris Cormier and Grace Cormier, both of Upland, Calif., Gladys Ommandson of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Winnie Long of St. Mary’s, Fla.; a brother, Larry Cormier of Pueblo, Colo.; and two grandchildren.
The body may be viewed today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Juanita Turner
MENA — Juanita Harris Turner, 87, of Mena died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003.
She was the co-owner of Turner Tire Company in Mena, a member of the Hatfield Church of Christ and the widow of Travis Tige Turner.
Gravside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by a son, Randy Turner of Mena; two sisters, Marian Rowe of Hatfield and Tommye Perkins of Riverside, Calif.; and a brother, Jimmy Harris of Hatfield.

James Morris
CLARKSVILLE — James H. “Jimmy” Morris, 74, of Clarksville died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at his home. He was a retired parts manager for Clarksville Light and Water, the Clarksville Fire Department and a farrier. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville, a charter member of the Clarksville Riding Club and a former Golden Glove champion, boxing coach and referee.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville with burial at Hagarville Cemetery in Hagarville.
He is survived by his wife, Birdeena; two daughters, Jan Moran and Jodi Garrison, both of Clarksville; two sisters, Mildred Hardwicke of Hagarville and Pauline Dickerson of Conway; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James, Keith and Larry Dickerson, Joel Davis and John and Andrew Hull.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Bessie Gulley
Bessie Bell Gulley, 84, of Van Buren died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and the widow of Roy Gulley.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Sarah Grove Cemetery in Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Eddy of Van Buren, Jo Thompson of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Francis Welch of Stockton, Calif.; a son, Roy Gulley of Fort Smith; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Howell Davis
SCRANTON — Howell B. Davis, 91, of Scranton died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, in Paris. He was born Oct. 31, 1911, in Scranton. He was a retired factory worker, a coal miner and a member of Scranton Holiness Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Scranton Holiness Church with burial at McKendree Cemetery north of Subiaco under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Hughes of Scranton; a son, Jerry Davis of Scranton; a sister, Sylvia Cress of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a brother, Glen Davis of Glenpool, Okla.; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John and Gene Davis, Billy Birchfield, Kenneth Parsley and Dustin and Shane Hughes.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Shettleworth
DYER — James D. Shettleworth, 74, of Dyer died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, in a local hospital. He was born March 24, 1928, in Stigler. He was a retired employee of Riverside Furniture Co. and of the Pentecostal faith.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Dyer City Cemetery Arbor under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
He is survived by his wife, Dories Shettleworth of the home; two sons, Benny Shettleworth of Alma and Randy Shettleworth of Dyer; a sister, Macklean Gates of Bartlesville, Okla.; two brothers, Roy Shettleworth of Spiro and Kenneth Shettleworth of Altus; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
