Johnny Collins
Johnny Collins, 55, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a member of Albert Pike Christian Church and a former employee of Covey furniture factory.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred Omega Collins of Fort Smith; a sister, Vera Mae Collins of Booneville; and a brother, the Rev. Jim T. Collins of Alma.

Nancy Ragan
Nancy J. Ragan, 68, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a retired home health aide for Area Agency on Aging.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Oak Valley Cemetery near Lavaca.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; five daughters, Linda Sue Jones and Connie Dunn, both of Fort Smith, Bobbie Brown and Linda Neighbors, both of Rudy, and Morgan Goode of Tennessee; six sons, Charles Mann of Fort Smith, Earl Mann Jr. of Bond Special community, Harold Mann of Greta, Neb., J.D. Mann of Greenwood, Jerry Mann of Kibler and Ronald Lafferty of Spiro; a sister, Ruby Crabtree of Rudy; seven brothers, Melvin Bentley, Alfred Bentley and Wesley Beauchamp, all of Siloam Springs, Orville Bentley of Lincoln, George Bentley of Van Buren, William Bentley of Moffett and Charles Bentley of Cedarville; 25 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Willie Smith
OCTAVIA, OKLA. — Willie Inman “Bill” Smith, 81, of Octavia, Okla., died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in his home. He was born Sept. 20, 1922, in Black Fork, Ark. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a timber worker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Octavia Baptist Church with burial at Octavia Cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Goldie; four sons, Jimmy, Larry and Perry Smith, all of Smithville, Okla., and Jerry Smith of Wickes; a sister, Thelma Mayer of Springfield, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Jordan, Brad Lowrie, Clifford Johnston, Billy Vaught, Tracy Brown and Lance Crawford.

Minnie McCurtain
FORT COFFEE, Okla. — Minnie McCurtain, 49, of Fort Coffee died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Mt. Triumph Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with burial at Fort Coffee Cemetery in Spiro under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by her husband, Emmitt; two daughters, Ulonda Black of Fort Smith and Bernice Black of Fort Coffee; a son, Fred Black of Fort Coffee; three sisters, Linda Kay Scott and Rezella Johnson, both of Fort Coffee, and Delphia Black of Los Angeles; and four brothers, Steve, Robert and Bonzo Black, all of Minneapolis, and Willie Hammick of Winn, Ark.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mable Hill
BROKEN ARROW, OKLA. — Mable L. Hill, 73, of Broken Arrow, Okla., died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in an Oklahoma hospital. She was born April 12, 1930, in Shady Point. She was a high school economics teacher at Vian, Comanche, Oilton, Hallett schools in Oklahoma and Ensign, Kan.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at the Oakland Cemetery Pavilion with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by her husband, Buddy; a son, Ron Hill of Ada., Okla.; three sisters, Barbara Ennis of Cameron, Okla., Jewel Brice of Anaheim, Calif., and Sue Butler of Independence, Mo.; and a brother, Charles Willis of Melbourne, Fla.

Doris Griesse
Doris Virginia Schamburg Griesse, 75, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in a local hospital. She was born on Sept. 25, 1922, in Friedenburg, Mo. She was a homemaker, a longtime member of First Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and the widow of the Rev. W.E. Griesse.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Fort Smith with a private graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by five daughters, Deborah of Little Rock, Sandra of Amarillo, Texas, Beverly of Boulder, Colo., Martha of Memphis and Susan of London, England; four sons, Dennis of Fayetteville, Kurt, David, and Dan, all of Fort Smith; two sisters, Evelyn Schamburg of Denver and Verna Hagan of Perryville, Mo.; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Don Cholcher, Lou Fellwock, Bob Lindow, Joe McKinney, Sandy Porter, William Shaver III, Ray Ussery and Billy Bob Williams.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran, 419 N. 12th St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

James Bouakadakis
TULSA — James “Jim” Mitchell Bouakadakis, 86, of Tulsa,died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in Tulsa. He founded Jim’s Coney Island in the 1950s in Tulsa.
He is survived by his wife, Katina; four daughters, Irene Hopkins, Sylvia Howe of Fort Smith, Mary Hardison and Faye Pagonis; two sons, Mark Bouakadakis and Michael Bouakadakis ; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren
The Trisagion prayer service will be 7 p.m. today at the Ninde Funeral Home of Tulsa. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Tulsa.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1222 S. Gutherie, Tulsa, OK 74119.

Lavina Bing
Lavina “Toots” Massey Bing, 84, of Cedarville died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in a local nursing home. She was born July 3, 1919. She was an Avon saleslady in Crawford County for 26 years and also sold Blair Products, was a member of the Independence Freewill Baptist Church at Natural Dam and the widow of E.E. Bing Sr.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Hall Cemetery in Natural Dam under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by four daughters, Estella Roberts of Alma, Dorothy Larson of Fort Smith, Betty Bowerman of Cedarville and Janelle Brown of Natural Dam; three sons, Jr. Bing of Van Buren, Harold Bing of Gilbert and Russell Bing of Heber Springs; one brother, L.W. Massey of Cedarville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Paul Brown, Steve Marion, Nathan Bowerman, Tim Brown, Steven Massey, Doug McCutcheon and Jonnie Thompson.

Betha Aldeis
STIGLER — Betha Mae Aldeis, 81, of Stigler died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in Stigler. She was the widow of Al Aldeis.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. today at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at Sans Bois Cemetery in Kinta.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Adcock of Russellville, Jo Rich of Stigler and Nada Wardle of Riverton, Utah; two sisters, Hazel Peier of Wichita, Kan., and Alice Shepherd of Kinta; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Craig Parkhurst, Henry Cates, Dwayne Hunt, Steve Hammontree, Bobby Oldham and Ron Nobles.

Irene McDaniel
HEAVENER — Irene McDaniel, 88, of Heavener died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in Tulsa. She was a member of Heavener Church of Christ and the widow of James McDaniel.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with burial at Hodgen Cemetery in Hodgen.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Jenkins of Beggs, Okla.; two sisters, Faye Graves and Raye Angel, both of Heavener; and one grandchild.

Charles Wheeler
DELAND, Fla. — Charles F. Wheeler, 69, of DeLand, Fla., formerly of Heavener, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in DeLand. He was a Korean War veteran, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in DeLand, Fla., and the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with burial at Memorial Park in Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Jimmie; and a sister, Susan Parker of Springhill, Fla.

Doris Griesse

Carrie Powell
LAMAR — Carrie Morgan Powell, 77, of Lamar died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003. She was born Dec. 14, 1928, in Lamar. She was a graduate of Lamar High School, a member of Lamar Methodist Church, the Belle Grove Chapter OES No. 56, a retired salesperson and the widow of Leon Powell.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lamar Methodist Church with burial at Lamar Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by a sister, Ada Willis of Oklahoma City.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Gladys Ward
STIGLER — Gladys Ward, 93, of Stigler died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, in Stigler. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Stigler Eastern Star and Stigler New Century Club and the widow of James Ward.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at Stigler City Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Dan Ward of Oklahoma City and Ron Ward of El Reno, Okla.; and four grandchildren.

Oma Brown
Oma Brown, 93, of Mountainburg died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in a local nursing home. She was retired from Wards Furniture Factory and a member of Gregory Chapel Church of Christ. She was born Sept. 13, 1910, in Winslow.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Gregory Chapel Church of Christ with burial at Cain Cemetery in Mountainburg under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth Brown of Alma; a sister, Bethine Gregory of Alma; two grandchildren, Diana Roark and Karen Chism; three great-grandchildren, Jason, Chad and Tim Roark; and three great-great-grandchildren, Ethan, Kyle and Elijah Roark.
Pallbearers will be Gary, Chad and Tim Roark, Brian Chism, Harley and Steve Ross.

Doris Virginia Griesse
Doris Virginia Griesse departed from this life Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in a local hospital. She was born Doris Schamburg on Sept. 25, 1922, in Friedenburg, Mo. She grew up in Perryville, Mo., where she met the Rev. W.E. Griesse, a Lutheran pastor. They were married July 19, 1942. Being a kind and gentle person and a woman of God, she was well-suited for her role as a minister’s wife. Doris answered her calling to be a full-time mother and unselfishly raised nine children. She led by example and was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and homemaker for the past 62 years.
Besides her children, Doris had a variety of interests. She enjoyed lawn work, gardening, and her beloved Razorbacks. Much to the detriment of her opponents, Doris was skilled at cards and participated in several bridge clubs. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. A quote from her high school yearbook describes her well: “Doris is a rare combination of good sense, common sense, and nonsense.”
Doris’s husband of over 60 years, the Rev. W.E. Griesse, preceded her in death, along with two sons, Larry and Gerald. She is survived by nine children, Dennis of Fayetteville, Deborah of Little Rock, Kurt of Fort Smith, Sandra and her husband, Bill of Amarillo, Texas, David and his wife, Paula of Fort Smith, Dan and his wife, Marge of Fort Smith, Beverly of Boulder, Colo., Martha and her husband, Frank of Memphis, and Susan and her husband, Peter of London, England.
Doris is also survived by nine grandchildren, Rachel, Mark, John and Nicole Griesse, all of Fort Smith, Birch and Evan Griesse of Fayetteville, Randall Heck of Amarillo, Texas, and Jason and Lindsay Jones of Fort Smith. Doris also leaves two sisters, Evelyn Schamburg of Denver and Verna Hagan of Perryville, Mo.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at First Lutheran Church in Fort Smith. A private graveside service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Don Cholcher, Lou Fellwock, Bob Lindow, Joe McKinney, Sandy Porter, William Shaver III, Ray Ussery and Billy Bob Williams.
A memorial fund has been set up at First Lutheran Church, 419 N. 12th St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.
