Billy Joe Suggs
Billy Joe Suggs, 69, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a retired tool and die maker and a farmer. He was born Oct. 11, 1934, in Van Buren. He was a member of Van Buren Free Will Baptist Church and a life long resident of Crawford County. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his parents, T.O. and Catherine Suggs.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Muriel; one daughter, Betty Vick and her husband, Brian Vick of Van Buren; two sons, Barney and David Suggs of Van Buren; one sister, Glenda Rayner of Van Buren; one brother, Jackie Suggs of Van Buren; four grandchildren, Brandon Vick of Van Buren, Joseph Suggs of Chester, Angela Johnson of Van Buren and Chris Vick of Barling; and three great-grandchildren, Allison, Chandler and Cole.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004 at Van Buren Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be W.B. Hance, Raymond, Jack and Danny Bieker, David Bray and Dean Meyers. Honorary pallbearers will members of the Men’s Sr. Sunday school class at Van Buren Free Will Baptist Church.
The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Van Buren Free Will Baptist Church, 4874 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR 72956 or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 5438, Fort Smith, AR 72913.

Mary Elizabeth Stephens
Mary Elizabeth Stephens, 87, of Van Buren died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of Harmony Baptist Church, and is preceded in death by her husband, George Stephens; a son, Billy Stephens; two grandsons, Billy Mike Stephens and Kenneth Stephens; four brothers, John Lambert, Floyd Lambert, Charles Cottingham and Phillip Cottingham.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a son, Robert Stephens of Van Buren; three sisters, Willie McKinny and Willard Williams, both of Moulton, Ala., and Margaret Cottingham of Decatur, Ala.; two brothers, Clifton Cottingham of Decatur, Ala., and Curtis Cottingham of Pisgah, Ala.; two grandchildren, Cynthia Steward of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Christie Smith of Van Buren; and one great-granddaughter, Meagan Smith of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Lance Smith, Larry Mendenhall, Joe Kincy, Kenneth Lambert and J.D. Van Matre.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Charles Hunt
HAVANA — Charles “Chuck” Leo Hunt, 61, of Havana, formerly of Fort Smith, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, in Havana. He was a retired truck driver for Wayne Poultry in Danville.
Funeral was held Feb. 19, 2004, at Danville Assembly of God with burial at Union Hill Cemetery in Danville under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda; two daughters, Robbin Harper of Loveland, Ohio, and Angela Murphy of Plainview; two sons, Michael Hunt of Dover and Steven Gorsuch of Springfield, Ore.; two stepdaughters, Angela Hestilow of Waveland and Carman McKay of Marshalltown, Iowa; a stepson, Steven Dunnam of Ranger; his parents, Ray and Claudia Hunt of Blue Mountain; two sisters, Helen Coots of Van Buren and Anna Thornton of Bella Vista; a brother, Parker Hunt of Bentonville; seven grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

Viva Sasse
DYER — Viva L. Sasse, 84, of Dyer died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, in her home. She was born Dec. 6, 1919, in Russellville. She was a homemaker and the widow of Fred Sasse.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Chastain Cemetery in Alma under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
She is survived by two daughters, Veda Lees of Palmdale, Calif., and Lolly Leakey of Dyer; a son, Ronald Sasse of Ventura, Calif.; a brother, Troy Rackley of Oklahoma; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dale, Bobby, Terry, Wayne Rackley and Dean Leakey, Gary Stafford and Jeremy Baughman.

Danny Edgar
KIBLER — Danny Ray Edgar, 48, of Kibler died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, in his home. He was a member and usher at The Solid Rock Tabernacle Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his mother, Velma Butler of the home; eight sisters, Kathy Nelson, Rhonda Beals and Vickie Bowlin, all of Van Buren, Brenda Ramsey of Rogers, Kristie Darrow of the home, Sue Jerden of Bond Special, Linda Ochoa of Fort Smith and Shelia Waldrop of Little Rock; seven brothers, Donald Edgar of Altus, Allen Edgar of Van Buren, Ronnie Edgar of Ozark, Chris Edgar of Little Rock, Harley and Kenneth Darrow of Mountainburg, and Robert Darrow of Spiro.
Pallbearers will be Mark Arnold, Steven Gilmore, Homer Frazier, Rick Prestidge, Leon Tugg, Richy Alzarez and Gary Vanhorn.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robert Bruns
Robert “Bob” Bruns, 76, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, in his home. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, served aboard the USS Attala in the South Pacific and Iwo Jima, was a retired funeral director for Fentress Mortuary and Shaffer Funeral Home and a former employee of Belmont Casket Co. He was the widower of Joyce Bruns.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by two daughters, Bethany Perry of Alma and Imelda Jackson of Bedford, Texas; two sons, Bob Bruns of Alma and Tony Bruns of Van Buren; a sister, Caroline Allen of Van Buren; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tommy and Boyce Wofford, Darrell Parsons, Mike Smets and Troy and Trent Fonville.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Wayne Nicholson
SALLISAW — Wayne Nicholson, 66, of Sallisaw died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, in Sallisaw. He was born June 2, 1937, in Greenville, S.C. He was a self-employed printer for more than 40 years, and owner operator of A-OK Printing in Sallisaw for 22 years and a Baptist.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by a daughter, Dawne Basler of Claremore, Okla., two sons, Barry and Rick Nicholson, both of Sallisaw; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Reese Pilkington, Ed Marrs, Kevin Delaney, Bill Spivey, Jim Neuser and Roger Hartley.

Burl Stubblefield
SILOAM SPRINGS — Burl Dean Stubblefield, 70, of Siloam Springs died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, in Siloam Springs. He was born May 28, 1933, in Charleston. He enlisted in the Navy in 1951 and served four years aboard the USS Rupertus destroyer ship during the Korean War. He earned the China Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked for Douglas Aircraft Co., in Tulsa, and Patterson Steel Co. in Tulsa, and opened the B&D Western Store, was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Sandusky, Okla., where he served on the building committee, was Sunday school superintendent, taught children’s Bible school and children’s church and was president and board member of Siloam Springs Riding Club and Colcord Riding Club.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wasson Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Kathy Spears of Siloam Springs; two sisters, Geniavea Mainard of Fort Smith and Wanda Snow of Van Buren; and a brother, Delbert Stubblefield of Van Buren.
Family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

D.A. Gregory
MONROE — D.A. “Shorty” Gregory, 77, of Monroe died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and of the Assembly of God faith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with burial at Week Cemetery in Weeks.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Parham of Charlotte, N.C., and Betty Clark of Fort Smith; a son, Del Gregory of Heavener; and six grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Gary Treanor
RAVENDEN — Gary Lynn Treanor, 52, of Ravenden died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, in his home. He was born May 2, 1951, in Jonesboro. He was a Navy veteran.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with burial at Pine Log Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; a daughter, Tyre Treanor of the home; a son, Cable Treanor of the home; his mother, Waylean Treanor of Ravenden; a sister, Karen Lowder of Hardy; and a brother, Tim Treanor of Joplin, Mo.
Pallbearers will be Nolan Baldridge, Dennis Lester, Steve Higginbotham, Mike Duncan, Richard Castleman and Bobby Forrest.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Deloris Cummins
OARK — Deloris Cummins, 56, of Oark died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, in Oark.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel of Clarksville with burial at Oark Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Ray Cummins; one daughter, Joann Lantz of Oark; three sons, Andy Paul Cummins of Hartman, Ricky Craig Harderson of Batson and Don Edward Warren of Kentucky; two sisters, Joyce Reynolds and Dorothy Criss, both of Oark; four brothers, Melvin and Larry Joe Kimbriel of Oark, Doy and Eddie Kimbriel of Clarksville; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Stepp, Casey and Steve Cummins, Alan Criss, Jacky Kimbriel and Teddy Bohannon.

William Wright
WICKES — William Glenn Wright, 74, of Wickes died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at his home. He was an equipment operator for the Polk County Road Department for 19 years and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a Catholic, a member of Disabled American Veterans and the NRA.
Cremation is under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena. Private service is requested by the family at a later date.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; two daughters, Michelle D. Wright of Springdale and Donna M. Parsons of 29 Palms, Calif.; three sons, Frank G. Wright and Joseph G. Wright, both of Wickes and John G. Wright of Clarkston, Wash.; one sister, Caroline Wertanen of Corpus Christi, Texas; one brother, Lawrence Hayden of Glendale, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Kayla Anne Wright Kesterson of Wickes, Alex Wright of Checotah, Stephanie Wright of Clarkston, Monique Roberson of San Bernardino, Calif., and Nanette Lambert of Los Angeles; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

L.D. Porter
ALMA — L.D. Porter, 71, of Alma, formerly of Dyer, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at his home. He retired as Regional Director of the AFL-CIO and was an Army veteran. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and Alma Masonic Lodge No. 735.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel of Van Buren with burial at Dyer Cemetery with military and masonic graveside services.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; two daughters, Peggy Winborn of Alma and Donna Key of Dyer; one son, David Anthony Porter of Dyer; two sisters, Wanda Dyer and Lillian House, both of Dyer; one brother, Charles Porter of Ottawa, Ill.; six grandchildren, Dr. Paul Winborn II, Toby and Michael Louis Key, Travis and Andrew Porter and Brooke Metcalf; and two great-grandchildren;
Pallbearers will be Toby and Michael Louis Key, Dr. Paul Winborn II, Travis and Chuck Porter, Paul and Steve House and Joel Dyer.
The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lonnie Fout
PANAMA — Lonnie F. Fout, 52, of Panama died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, in a Poteau hospital. He graduated from Panama High School, was an Army veteran and retired from Whirlpool after 24 1/2 years.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Fairhill Cemetery in Cameron under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Doneva; one daughter, Rhonda Boblett of Panama; two sons, Lonnie Dale Fout of Bokoshe and Kendall Fout of Panama; his mother, Ella Taylor Fout of Shady Point; two sisters, Nita Holstine of Wilburton, Okla., and Linda Beal of Duncan, Okla.; three brothers, J.R. Fout of Barnsdall, Okla., Dennis of Panama and Terry of Shady Point; and four grandchildren.

Cathy O’Neal
CLARKSVILLE — Cathy Anne O’Neal, 47, of Clarksville died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, in a Dallas hospital.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel of Clarksville. The body will be cremated.
She is survived by two daughters, Leah O’Neal of Bentonville and Amanda Maish of Clarksville; one son, George of Clarksville; her mother and stepfather, Janice and Roman Hathorn of Hartman; three sisters, Deborah Hathorn of Springdale, Theresa Culshaw of Bentonville and Marilyn Sexton of Clarksville; one stepsister, Kathy Gernard of Fayetteville; one brother, Wahlon O’Neal of Riverton, Kan.; and three grandchildren, Brock, Kanoe and Seth O’Neal, all of Clarksville.
