Robert Pinky Cooper, Sr.
Robert Pinky Cooper, Sr., 83, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline, and an inspector for Riverside Furniture Company, a veteran of the Navy in World War II in the South Pacific and a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2004, in Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith.
He is survived by four daughters, Linda Symonds of Van Buren, Karen Thompson of Clarksville, Tenn., and Mona Hash and Brenda Moore, both of Fort Smith; five sons, Gary and Mitch Cooper of Fort Smith, Robert Cooper, Jr. of Mountainburg, Stephen Cooper of Cedarville and Dennis Cooper of Lavaca; 20 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fentress Mortuary.

Sheri Earnhart
Sheri Susanne Earnhart, 47, of Van Buren died Monday, April 19, 2004, in a local hospital.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Christina Earnhart of Van Buren; two sons, Zachary Earnhart of North Little Rock and Kristopher Shook of Van Buren; and three grandchildren.

Marian McCurdy
Marian Mae McCurdy, 54, of Van Buren died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 1, 1949, in Mount Pleasant, Mich. She lived in Rudy, Colorado and California and returned to Van Buren in 1999. She attended Butterfield Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; a daughter, Connie Zeleznikar of Canon City, Colo.; three sons, Gary Cross of Van Buren, Bruce Cross of Pahrump, Nev., and Charlie McCurdy of Van Buren; her mother, Coralie Thorp of Buena Vista, Colo.; two sisters, Pam Schneiter of Buena Vista and Gloria Sanders of Atlanta, Texas; a brother, Doug Thorp of Muldrow; and seven grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bessie Cato
VIAN — Bessie Ray Cato, 77, of Vian died Tuesday, April 20, 2004. She was born Feb. 26, 1927, in the Blackgum community in Oklahoma. She was a homemaker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Blackgum Harvesttime Church, north of Vian, with burial at Box Cemetery, north of Vian, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by her husband, Porter; eight daughters, Linda Ruckman of Muldrow, Alice Cato of Vian, Carolyn McLaughlin of Peck, Anamay Cravens of Alma, Bonnie Stafford, Hester Temple and Lois Gill, all of Vian, and Joyce Furulie of Morgan Hill, Calif.; five sons, Jimmy Flanagan of Wichita, Kan., and Cecil, Jerry, Gerald and Scotty Cato, all of Vian; five sisters, Essie Armer, Katheryn Farmer, Betty Trammell, Minnie Hunter and Becky Ray, all of Vian; two brothers, Melvin and Floyd Ray, both of Wichita; 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jason Cato, Oliver McLaughlin, Glenn Stafford, Robert Cravens, Al Ruckman and Jerry Shannon.
The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

George Toon
SALLISAW — George L. “Short” Toon, 80, of Sallisaw died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was born April 8, 1924, in Sequoyah County. He was retired from OK Foods.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Akins Cemetery northeast of Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by four daughters, Georgia Conley of Marble City, Okla., Doris Fry of Sallisaw, Nancy Poindexter of Stilwell and Rosa Hodges of Gans; two sons, Floyd Toon of Bullhead, Ariz., and Curtis Toon of Sallisaw; one sister, Eunice Long of Sallisaw; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Annie Krane
OZARK — Annie Christine Krane, 96, of Ozark died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, in a local nursing home. She was born Jan. 12, 1908, in Denning/Greenwood. She was a homemaker, member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the widow of Phillip Krane.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Altus under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by a sister, Agnes Leverette of Alix, and a brother, Bill Sawitsky of Ozark.
Pallbearers will be Tim Rich, John McLaughlin, Chad Binvon, Billy Sawitsky, Johnny Mitchell and Danny Harrington.

Scottie Schneider
Scottie Sue Schneider, 60, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Private family services will be held under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence; three daughters, Sheila Hulsey of Eureka Springs and Pam Smothers and Brenda Joyce, both of Fort Smith; a son, Brian Schneider of Van Buren; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1866, Fort Smith, AR 72902.

Laverne Starling
Laverne Norman Starling, 83, of Barling died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Barling.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial at Barling City Cemetery in Barling.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Sams and Vernette Ruff, both of Barling, and three grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lois Ferrell
SPIRO — Lois Margaret Ferrell, 80, of Spiro died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, in Poteau. She was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church, Ladies Spiro VFW Auxiliary Post No. 4884 and a kindergarten teacher for more than 30 years. She was the widow of Willis Ferrell.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Mallory Funeral Chapel in Spiro with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jones and Kathy Cox, both of Spiro; a son, Randy Ferrell of Hurst, Texas; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

David Reynolds
MULDROW — David Herchell Reynolds, 63, of Muldrow died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, in Sallisaw. He was born July 14, 1940, in Muskogee. He was a retired respiratory therapist in Muskogee, Okla., and Tulsa, a Baptist and a veteran.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Okla., under the direction Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow.
He is survived by a son, David Reynolds of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Carol Hans and Barbara Parks, both of Muskogee; two brothers, Jerry Reynolds of Muskogee and Joe Reynolds of Muldrow; and four grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jon Knesek
ARLINGTON, Okla. — Jon Robert Knesek, 21, of Arlington died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, in Sparks, Okla. He was born Jan. 21, 1983, in Van Buren. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Paden, Okla., and a worked on the family ranch in Sparks.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Prague, Okla., with burial at Kellerby Cemetery in Prague under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Prague.
He is survived by his wife, Nikki; his parents, Garry and Bonnie Knesek of Sparks; grandparents, Robert Jr. and Beulah Knesek of Sparks; and a sister, Allexcia Rankin of Fort Smith.

Eugene Paul “Gene” Fisher
Eugene Paul “Gene” Fisher, 93, of Sebastian Lake in Hackett died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, in Greenwood. He was born Oct. 30, 1909, in New Franklin, Mo., to Sally Grace Landram Fisher and John Henry Fisher. He was a poultry farmer and real estate broker. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Concord Baptist Church near Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Judy Fisher of Van Buren; one daughter and son-on-law, Linda and Ralph Riley of Hackett; three grandchildren, Shannon and Clayton Fisher and Tony Rupp and his wife, Angela of Mountainburg; three great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jackie and Will Rupp.
Pallbearers will be Shannon and Clayton Fisher, Tony and Joseph Rupp, Phil Christensen and Robert Weik.
Family will visit with friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Concord Baptist Church, 6105 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR 72956.

Virginia Lee Lumpkin
Virginia Lee Lumpkin, 82, of Alma died Thursday, June 26, 2003, in a local nursing home. She was a retired re-inspector for Dixie Cup in Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Udell Lumpkin; and a son, Carl Wayne Lumpkin.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Alma.
She is survived by two sons, Montie Lumpkin and Ronnie Lumpkin, both of Fort Smith; a brother, Harold Adams of Alma; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dustin and Tim Lumpkin, Ken Woodall, Donald Adams, Ray and David Lumpkin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Morgan and Jeff Lumpkin.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Glenn Barley Woodrome
Glenn Barley Woodrome, 71, of Fort Smith entered into rest Wednesday, June 25, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born July 12, 1931, in Houston, a retired truck driver for Pipe Line Distributors out of Houston. He is survived by one daughter, Glenda M. Woodrome of Fort Smith; one sister, Thelma Mansker of Houston; four brothers, Robbie E. Woodrome Sr., Woodrow W. Woodrome Sr., Raymond R. and Jessie R. Woodrome, all of the Houston area; one grandchild, Bridgette Williams Holland of Henryetta, Okla.; two great-grandchildren, Zechariah Holland and Brittany White; three stepgrandchildren, Scott, Kaitlyn and Nick Holland. Memorial service was held Friday. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

Billie Wayne McDonnor
Billie Wayne McDonnor, 69, of Arkoma died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in a local nursing home. He was of the Pentecostal faith and was a mechanic in the maintenance department of Morrell Meat & Packing Co. and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, William McDonnor; and his brother, Paul McDonnor.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Pope Cemetery in Mountainburg under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by five sons, Wally and Teddy McDonnor, both of Fayetteville, James McDonnor of Lake Ridge, Va., Ronnie McDonnor of Van Buren and Billy Wayne McDonnor of Alma; his mother, Lottie McDonnor of Van Buren; four sisters, Margie Blackard, Barbara Overbey and Diane Childress, all of Van Buren, and Bernice Winborn of Alma; a brother, Donald McDonnor of Altus; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Donald McDonnor, John and Glenn Dunn, Lloyd and Kenny Overbey and Alan Childress.

Betty Zander
Betty Martin Zander, 79, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in a nursing home. She was born April 7, 1924, in Virginia. She was a retired writer for the Southwest Times Record and a member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church with burial of cremains at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Helene Lewis of Fort Smith; three sons, Paul and John Zander, both of Grandview, Texas, and Richard Zander of Laredo, Texas; and a brother, Robert Martin of Kent, Wash.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, 2701 Old Greenwood Road, Fort Smith, AR 72903 or Fort Smith Boys and Girls Club.
