Minnie Mae Morgan Cain
Minnie Mae Morgan Cain, an elegant and deeply beloved lady, passed away peacefully at Trinity Lutheran Nursing Home in Shawnee Mission, Kan. She was born March 11, 1919, in Joplin, Mo.
Minnie enjoyed some of her happiest years at the University of Arkansas where she was a Tri Delta sorority girl, earned her degree in education, met and ultimately married her handsome college sweetheart, Charles Cain. Known for her style and beauty, Minnie will be remembered for her vivaciousness and love of people. There was also about this sweet woman a demure, regal serenity. She was an impeccable and gracious homemaker, but above all a most loving wife and mother.

Minnie leaves behind her daughters, Kelly Harmsen, Corinne Galbraith of Salt Lake City and Cookie, Mrs. Gary Hanson of Overland Park, Kan.; and 13 beautiful grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, with another three on the way.
Visitation and memorial service were Saturday, Aug. 28, at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf in Overland Park, Kan.

Deborah Lynn Hughes
Deborah Lynn Hughes, 48, of Rudy died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, in a local hospital. She was an LPN for Home Heath.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Mount McCurry Cemetery near Rudy.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Hughes of the home; a daughter, Angela Gasca of Rudy; a son, Randall Burkett of Rudy; her mother, Nancy Drummond of Rudy; two sisters, Laurie Hayes and Vickie Stayton, both of Fayetteville; two brothers, Brian Drummond of Fayetteville and Danny Drummond of Greenland; and three grandchildren, Joshua Sangster of Van Buren and Mikey and Mia Glasca, both of Rudy.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Hughes, Andy McConahy, Justin Sangster, Brian and Danny Drummond and Butch Basham.

Loren “Jim” Girton
Loren “Jim” Girton, 54, of Van Buren died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, in his home. He was employed by Fort Smith Blueprint and was formerly of Sand Springs, Okla.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Bonita; a sister, Loretta Williams and her husband, Larry, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a niece, Sharon Walker and her husband, Jason, of Tulsa; two nephews, Larry Williams Jr. and Josh Williams, both of Tulsa; a great-nephew, Grey Walker of Tulsa; and numerous other nieces and nephews in his wife’s family.
Pallbearers will be James, Ronnie and Brent Frazier, Larry Williams Jr., Josh Williams and Jason Walker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Travis and Ethan Gregory, Maverick Frazier and Jesse Paxton.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home, 700 Jefferson St. in Van Buren.

Edna Mae Klitz
Edna Mae Klitz, 63, of Barling died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, in Barling. She worked in medical records at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Barling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ola Rainwater.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial of ashes at a later date.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; a daughter, Kayla Elloso and her husband, Raymond, of Grafton, Mass.; a son, Rick Klitz and his wife, Tricia, of Fort Smith; a sister, Freida Musser of Moore, Okla.; three brothers, Donny Rainwater of Norman, Okla., Cecil Rainwater of Leflore and Jimmy Rainwater of Crescent, Okla.; and five grandchildren, Christen and Collin Klitz and Andrew, Matthew and Jacob Elloso.
Honorary pallbearers are Ben Johnson, Scott Walker, Doug Shade, Kip Ledbetter, David Thompson and George Burrell.
The family will visit with friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Frank J. Goebel
Frank J. Goebel, 65, of Nashville, Tenn., died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, in Nashville. He was retired from GE after 40 years of service and a manager of international integration for GE Medical Systems, a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Nashville, a graduate of St. Anne’s Academy, St. Boniface Catholic School and the University of Arkansas, and a member of the GE Elfun Society.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, in Immaculate Conception Church with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Roma; two sons, Paul Goebel of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Craig Goebel of Baltimore; parents Fred and Melina Goebel of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mary and Lorena Goebel of Fort Smith; two brothers, Fred Goebel Jr. and wife Ann of Fort Smith and Charles Goebel of Dallas; an aunt, Emily Donelson of Fort Smith; two cousins, Kruger Donelson and wife Arlene of Van Buren and Charlene Moorman of Fort Smith; and many nieces and nephews, friends and family.
Pallbearers will be Rick Cornelisse, Scott Mueller, David Rueth, John Shillinglaw, Howard Teasley and Larry Ulmer.
Rosary service will be 6 p.m. today in Fentress Mortuary Chapel. Family visitation will follow the rosary service.

Candy Pond Ennis
Candy Pond Ennis, 57, of Fort Smith passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2004. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Reynolds Cancer Support House.
Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, in First Presbyterian Church with cremain inurnment at First Presbyterian Columbarium under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; one daughter, Kathleen Ennis of Fort Smith; a son, Ryan O’Donnell of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; stepchildren Ken Hart of Austin, Texas, Lisa Rohlman of Morrilton, Brad Ennis of St. Louis; brothers Phillip Pond of Atlanta and Kirk Pond of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; and stepgrandchildren, Michael Hart, Brian Rohlman, Jennifer Rohlman, Rebecca Rohlman, Benjamin Ennis and Zachary Ennis.
Memorials may be made to Sebastian County Humane Society, P.O. Box 10953, Fort Smith, AR 72917; or Reynolds Cancer Support House, 3324 S. M St., Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Jack Buddy Keeton
Jack Buddy Keeton, 70, of Van Buren passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, in Van Buren. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Van Buren and founding member of The Old Fort Woodcarvers Association. He was retired from Tennessee Foods.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, Dana Murray and her husband, Phillip, of Lonoke; and Landy Westphal and her husband, Bennie, of Greenwood; a sister, Betty Stabler of Fort Smith; and four grandchildren, Emily and Caroline Westphal and Hannah and Zack Murray.
Pallbearers will be Donald Dean, Willie Wikman, Bob Teeman, A.C. Brown, John Fagan, Charles Presley and Jim Habersetzer.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Butler and Don Whitehead.
Family visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fentress Mortuary.

Fern G. Kafka
Fern G. Kafka, 82, of Paris died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, in Paris of natural causes. She was a retired teacher and a member of Southside Baptist Church, Women’s Missionary Union, Logan County Historical Society and PEO, and past president of the Logan County Museum Association.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, in Southside Baptist Church in Paris. Burial will be at Baxley Cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home-Paris.
She is survived by her husband, James A. Kafka of the home; two daughters, Carolyn K. Huber and son-in-law Mark R. Huber of Paris, and Georgann Kafka of Texas; a granddaughter, Jackie L. Stone of Conway; a grandson, Sgt. Jason A. Pollock of Killeen, Texas; and two sisters, Lois Rains of Paris and Rebecca Dorrough of Little Rock.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Culver, Col. David T. Dorrough, Doug Harley, Charlie Reams, Bob Porter and Tommy Bauer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Scrivner and M.M. Crowe.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris.

Edyth E. Norman
Edyth E. Norman, 81, of Fort Smith passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Methodist Village Women’s Auxiliary, Women’s Cancer Support House, League of Women Voters and Pacesetter Group of First United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Fentress Mortuary. The family will receive friends after the service at 3709 Country Club Road in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Ridener of Fort Smith; a son, Howard Norman of Fort Smith; one brother, J.R. Pruett of Odessa, Texas; and five grandchildren, Josh and Zeke Norman and Jason and Adam Ridener, all of Fort Smith, and Aynsley Wells of Dayton, Ohio.
Pallbearers will be Josh and Zeke Norman, Jason and Adam Ridener, Brad Burton and Tom Jensen.

George Ford
PRAIRIE VIEW — George R. Ford, 87, of Prairie View died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, in Paris. He was a retired steamboat captain and a World War II veteran.
The body will be cremated under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Annette.

John Overbey
KNOXVILLE — John Edwin Overbey, 61, of Knoxville died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, in an area hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1942, in Lamar. He graduated high school in Ventura, Calif., and was a member of the Eagles Club.
The body was cremated under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan Overbey of Washington; a son, Mike Overbey of Knoxville; a sister, Magdalene Kirkpatrick of Knoxville; a brother, Charles Overbey of Brea, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Don Spangler
ALMA — Don Spangler, 63, of Alma died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, in Alma. He was a maintenance supervisor in the jet engine shop for the Air National Guard 188th Fighter Wing for 38 years.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; a son, Shannon Spangler of Little Rock; two sisters, Carol Ascheman of Clontarf, Minn., and Eula McDaniel of Van Buren; a brother, Eugene Spangler of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Shepherd, Gary Finney, Mark Ruth, Bobby Moore, Wayne Newell and Bill Douglas.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Heights Baptist Church, 1003 Rudy Road, Alma, AR 72921.

Tommy Broumley
Tommy “Night Watchman” Broumley, 62, of Van Buren died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, in his home. He was born April 20, 1942, in Barstow, Texas, and was a retired night watchman for Fort Smith Rim and Bow. He was a member of the First Church of God in Fort Smith.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Boltin of Farmington; a son, Tommy D. Broumley of Van Buren; four sisters, Mary Miller and Rita Brown, both of Van Buren, Helen Miller of Searcy and Lucy Broumley of Booneville; a brother, Porter Welch; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be L.D., Buck, Johnny and J.J. Hallmark, and Bubby and Terry Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the First Church of God.
