Noah Allen Kelly
Noah Allen Kelly, infant son of Shayleene Atwell of Van Buren and David Kelly of Van Buren, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in a Little Rock hospital.
Graveside service was Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by maternal grandparents, Tammy Jacks of Sherwood, Ohio, Jeff Christian and Paula Christian, both of Bullhead City, Ariz.; paternal grandmother, Edith Kelly of Fort Smith; maternal great-grandparents, Linda and Donald Whitaker of Cedarville; maternal great-great-grandmother, Bernice Chewning of Cedarville; and a brother, Dylan Atwell of Rudy.

Barbara E. Meek
Barbara E. Meek, 72, of Fort Smith passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a private piano teacher for many years, a member of the Federate Music Teachers Association of America and the First Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman and Ruth Meek; and her brother, Robert Nelson “Bobby” Meek.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at First Lutheran Church in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by one brother, David “Duke” Meek and his wife, Freda, of Casper, Wyo.; two nephews, David Nelson Meek and Christopher Allen Meek, both of Casper, Wyo.
Pallbearers will be John Terry, Sam Terry, David Terry, Daxon Edwards, David Meek, Christopher Meek, Colin Sandifer and Aaron North. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, 419 N. 12th St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Timothy “Tim” Dwayne Epp
Timothy “Tim” Dwayne Epp, 35, of Wichita, Kan., a Spahn Custom Cabinets carpenter of eight months and former Woodchucks Cabinet and Trim Carpenter for 11 years, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004.
Visitation will be held at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services in Wichita on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Douglas Avenue Assembly of God with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Tim enjoyed bowling, camping and fishing with his family and friends. He was a native of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Kathi; son Andrew Fortine of Wichita; daughter Ashley Epp of Wichita; father Clayton Epp of Black Canyon City, Ariz.; mother Linda Focht of El Dorado, Kan.; brothers Clayton of Apachee Junction, Ariz., and Tracy of El Dorado, Kan.; sister Robin Davis of Junction City, Kan.; and grandmother Annetta Robinson of Mulvane, Kan. A memorial fund has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.

Betty Jean Walls Harris
Betty Jean Walls Harris was born Jan. 23, 1924, in the White Oak community north of Ozark to James Virgil and Eulah Eupha Shaver Walls, and passed away Oct. 9, 2004, in Fort Smith. She attended Webb City School and graduated in the Ozark School District. She worked for the first telephone company in Ozark as an operator. She also worked as a supervisor at the Seamproof Co-op in Ratcliff, a bookkeeper for Bercher Tire in Fort Smith and supervisor of second shift operations at Southern Steel & Wire until her retirement. She was a devoted member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member and past president of the American Business Women’s Association, and was elected by her peers as the Woman of the Year.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Frank Walls, and three sisters, Lillian Inman, Gelene Boren and Mary Frances Edwards.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith with burial at Morgan Hill Cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her two sons, Jimmy L. Harris of Van Buren and Stephen W. Harris and his wife, Gwen, of North Little Rock; a brother, Jack Walls and his wife, Joyce, of Atkins; three grandsons, Allen, Stephen and Greg; two great-grandsons, Drew and Will; and a great-granddaughter, Kylie Harris.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Leroy Williams Jr.
Leroy Williams Jr., 74, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a Navy veteran and a retired tanner.
Funeral will be 9:45 a.m. Monday at Faith Fellowship Tabernacle with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Williams of Fort Smith; a daughter, Marilyn McQuarters of Fort Smith; two sons, Garland and Terry Williams, both of Fort Smith; two brothers, Eugene and Matthew Williams, both of Fort Smith; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Clark, Stanley Bausley, Carl Armington, Marshall Fegans, Todd Perry and Michael, James and Robert Williams.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends at 4535 Berkley St. in Fort Smith.

Juanita McDonald
HACKETT — Juanita McDonald, 78, of Hackett died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was retired from Wyeth Laboratories and was a member of the Hackett First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hackett First Baptist Church with burial at Hartford Memorial Park in Hartford under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; a daughter, Judy Tollett of Hooks, Texas; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Roy Sewell, Brent and J.T. Williams, Clyde and Davy Davis and Darrell Wear.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ross Nelson
Ross L. Nelson, 77, of Fort Smith, formerly of Booneville, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a retired retail manager.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Sugar Grove Cemetery in the Sugar Grove community near Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by three sons, Mike Nelson of Rogers, Bill Nelson of Little Rock and Eric Nelson of Fayetteville; two sisters, Flo McLaughlin of Fort Smith and Jean Dinoff of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; a brother, Roy Nelson Jr. of Russellville; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The Rev. David P. Noel
The Rev. David P. Noel was born Nov. 22, 1933, in Middleton, Pa., died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a minister with the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church for 20 years in New York state. He was honorably retired from the Presbyterian Church after 19 years of ministry in Arkansas and Oklahoma. He was a 1958 graduate of Nyack College in Nyack, N.Y., with a bachelor’s degree in Christian education and a master’s of divinity in theology from Gordon Conwell Seminary in Hamilton, Mass.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary of the home; one daughter, Becky Burns of Fort Smith; two sons, Steven Noel of Richmond, Va., and David Noel of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Doris Tubbs of Pennsylvania; three brothers, Fred Noel Jr. and Donnie Noel, both of Pennsylvania, and Edgar Noel of Minnesota; and five grandchildren,
The Rev. Noel will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren with a family held memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12 at the First Presbyterian Church in Van Buren.

Jackson Hall Williams
Jackson Hall Williams, 22, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in Van Buren. He was valedictorian of the 1999 class of the Kemper military Academy, a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Smith. He had attended University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
There will be a private family graveside service today at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his parents, Fred and Shirley Williams of Van Buren and John and Betsy Bender of Austin, Texas; three sisters, Katie Cravens of Van Buren, Olivia Bender of Dallas and Elizabeth Williams of Van Buren; one brother, Brice Bender of Austin, Texas; grandparents, Betty Williams of Van Buren and John and Elizabeth Yeoman of Hot Springs Village.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 200 N. 15th St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Barbara E. Meek
Barbara E. Meek, 72, of Fort Smith passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in Fort Smith. Dorothy Byrum
Dorothy Byrum, 81, of Van Buren died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, in Van Buren. She was a retired employee of the Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Corp., and was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by her husband, Harry E. Byrum of Van Buren; one son, Harry Lee Byrum of Fort Smith; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
No formal services will be held. Burial will be at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Jerry Don Baker
Jerry Don Baker, 42, of Van Buren died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 16, 1961, in Oklahoma City. He was a trim carpenter, graduated in 1980 from Arkoma High School, was a dialysis patient, and a member of the Assembly of God in Roland.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Roland First Assembly of God with burial at Milton Cemetery on Oklahoma 31 west of Bokoshe under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda June Baker of Van Buren; one son, Dustin James Baker of Bennington, Vt.; his parents, Don and Bobbie Baker of Arkoma; one sister, Dana Jean Henderson, and brother-in-law Charlie Henderson of Fort Smith; nine aunts and six uncles.
Pallbearers will be Russell Wagner, Charlie Henderson, John Onorato, Kevin Williams, Rick Stanford and David Baker.
The family will visit with friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.

Jo Mayfield
LAVACA — Jo Ann Mayfield, 70, of Lavaca died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 18, 1934, in Fort Smith. She was retired from Riverside Furniture Plant No. 2, and was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca with burial at Mayberry Cemetery in Lavaca.
She is survived by her husband, Dick; a daughter, Patty Graham of Lavaca; two sons, Mark and Bill Mayfield, both of Lavaca; a sister, Louise Payton of Roland; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Clifton, Jay Williams, Wyatt Barbour, Andrew Lewis, Dan Mayfield and Darrell Miner.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 3291 S. Thompson, Suite D104, Springdale, AR 72764.
