William Casselman
MENA — William R. Casselman, 86, of Mena died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, in Mena. He was born June 27, 1918, in Baroda, Mich. He was a metallurgist and a member of the American Welding Society, the Society of Engineers and the First United Methodist Church.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; a daughter, Kathleen Tremain of Rives Junction, Mich.; a son, Michael Casselman of McAlester, Okla.; a sister, Margaret Young of Durham, N.C.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.

Kathleen Stephenson
ALMA — Kathleen Stephenson, 92, of Alma died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Crawford County, a retired line worker for Alma Canning Co. and a member of Dyer United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Dyer with burial at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Dave Niven, Phillip Myers and Jim Niven.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

John V. Brigham
ATKINS — John V. Brigham, 31, of Atkins died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004. He was born Nov. 3, 1972, in Longmont, Colo. He worked for Arkansas Rehabilitation Services in Little Rock and was active in youth baseball, basketball and Cub Scout programs.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Union Grove Free-Will Baptist Church under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
He is survived by his wife, Shauna; a son, Corey Beavers; his mother, Betty Vanhoose; his father and mother-in-law, Marty and Betty Hambright; and his grandmother, Verna Vanhoose.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Johnston, Larry Foshee, Bruno Hampton, B.J. Duvall, Shawn Baggett and Steve Isom.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Miss Kathleen Stephenson
Miss Kathleen Stephenson, 92, of Alma died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a retired line worker for the Alma Canning Co., a lifetime resident of Crawford County, and a member of the Dyer United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a niece, Mary Niven and her husband Jim of Richardson, Texas; great-nieces and nephews, Tracy and Phillip Myers of Richardson, Texas, David and Mandy Beth Niven of Jackson, Texas; and great-great-nieces and nephews Trent, Hayley, and Cale Myers of Richardson, Texas.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at the Dyer United Methodist Church in Dyer with burial to follow at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be David Niven, Phillip Myers and Jim Niven.

Helen Mae (Konert) Wright
Helen Mae (Konert) Wright, 81, of New Blaine died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, in Fayetteville of natural causes. She retired 20 years ago as supervisor at Emerson Electric in Rogers and at that time moved to New Blaine. She was a member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church (Shoal Creek) in New Blaine, St. Scholastica Women’s Guild, Catholic Women’s Union and past president of VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Cecelia (Irber) Konert; daughter, Brenda Megaro; sons, Gary Wright and Robert Wright; two sisters and five brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today; the family will greet family and friends at Roller Chapel in Paris.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at St. Scholastica Catholic Church (Shoal Creek) in New Blaine.
Funeral Mass and burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Scholastica Catholic Church and Cemetery (Shoal Creek) in New Blaine under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by her husband, Theron “Red” Wright of New Blaine; five daughters, Susan Barlock of Hansville, Wash., Darlene Rhodes of Reading, Pa., Cynthia Ward of Pea Ridge, Pam Horn of Greenland and Patricia Williams of Rogers; three sisters, Lucille Fischer of Paris, Cecelia Wall of Cincinnati, and Loretta Zimmer of Fort Smith; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Horn, Paul Barlock, Rick Ward and Rusty Williams.

Ernest Burns
Ernest Burns, 83, of Branch died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, in Charleston. He was a retired steel worker for Monarch Steel in Oakland, Calif., and was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Ernest is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; a sister, Myrtle Graham; and a brother, Jack Burns.
He is survived by a daughter, Patsy Reagan of Ozark; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services are pending under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Jim W. Oliver
Jim W. Oliver, 61, of Greenwood died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a salesman for several area businesses, a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church, a 32nd degree Mason, a member and Worshipful Master of Greenwood Lodge No. 131 F&AM, a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 197, and a veteran of the U.S. National Guard. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Greenwood United Methodist Church with burial at Liberty Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Oliver of the home; one son, Rich Hightower and wife Kathy of Escondido, Calif.; one brother, Don Oliver and wife Rhonda of Greenwood; one sister, Judy Stephens and husband Troy of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Jackson and Riley Hightower; three brothers-in-law, D.H., Gordon and Larry McCain, all of Mulberry; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Emma Joe Oliver.
Viewing will be 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Jonathon McCain, Chris McCain, Mack McCain, Sam McCain, Brandon George and Ep Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Greenwood Lodge No. 131 F&AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Greenwood United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 548, Greenwood, AR 72936.

C. Harmon Tullos
HARTMAN — C. Harmon Tullos, 80, of Hartman died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, in Clarksville. He was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Enola. He was a member of Clarksville Church of Christ and the Johnson County Master Gardeners Club, was a Navy veteran of World War II stationed aboard the USS Halligan, and retired from Arkansas Highway Transportation Department as an asphalt inspector for 38 years.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Hess Cemetery in Coal Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; two sons, Dan Tullos of Searcy and Steve Tullos of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, Richard Tullos of Little Rock; and four grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Oliver Chan
OZARK — Oliver Hung Po Chan, 43, of Ozark died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born Oct. 27, 1961, in Hong Kong, China. He was owner of Chan’s Restaurant in Ozark and a Southern Baptist.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Highland Cemetery in Ozark.
He is survived by his wife, Eva; two daughters, Vinci and Alice Chan, both of Ozark; a son, Patrick Chan of Ozark; his mother, Yun Hing of Hong Kong; and a brother, Joe Chan of Hong Kong.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Kathleen Stephenson

Olen Pierce
CAMERON — Olen Pierce, 92, of Cameron died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, in Van Buren. He was born Dec. 11, 1911, in Cameron. He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school; he was a member of the Second Indian Head Division and the Disabled American Veterans, a longtime rancher, and retired as an Army sergeant first class in 1957 after 20 years of service. He served during World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he received during the D-Day invasion on Utah Beach. He also did tours of duty in Korea and Germany.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau.
He is survived by a sister, Cecil Branstetter of Poteau.

Bernice Bodine
ALMA — Bernice Bodine, 74, of Alma died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, in a local nursing home. She was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Gainesville, Mo. She was a retired employee of O.K. Foods and a member of Fort Smith Christian Center.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice Bogner of Fort Smith; a son, Donny Bodine of Fort Smith; six sisters, Opal Tanner of Lincoln, Juanita Key of Van Buren, Ruby Roberts of Alma, Mary Vaughn of Gentryville, Ind., Jean Richmond of New Castle, Okla., and Sue Kear of Melbourne, Fla.; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Stanley, Ronnie and Dewain Key and James Tanner.

Macie Hurtman
DYER — Macie Ernie Palmer Hurtman, 85, of Dyer died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born Sept. 27, 1919. She was a homemaker and a member of Middleton Methodist Church in Louisville, Miss. She was the widow of Alvin Hurtman.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Middleton Methodist Church in Louisville, Miss., with burial at Middleton Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Nowell-Tilghman Funeral Home of Louisville, Miss.
She is survived by three daughters, Regina McCoy of Dyer, Diane Murphy of Grand Junction, Mich., and Merilyn Masterson of South Haven, Mich.; two sons, Ray Hurtman of Fennville, Mich., and John Hurtman of Toomsuba, Mich.; a sister, Lizzie Greipentrog of Horican, Wis.; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Clarine Thacker
MENA — Clarine Thacker, 54, of Mena died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, in her home. She was born July 11, 1950, in Needmore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Service Memorial Chapel in Mena with burial at Rocky Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Leon; a daughter, JoAnn Cox of Mena; three sons, Leonard Thacker of Cove, Darrell and Chris Thacker, both of Mena; a sister, Edith Smith of Moffet; four brothers, Ed Thompkins of Needmore, Lester and Johnny Thompkins, both of Mena, and Lowell Thompkins of Waldron; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steven, Chris and Chuck Cox, Jim Cunningham, Terry Dilbeck, Dewey Fain, Dale and Mike Thompkins.

Billy Culver
Billy Warren Culver, 68, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, in a local hospital. He attended Faith Outreach Center in Fort Smith ad was a self-employed paint contractor.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Ava; a daughter, Linda Bokling of Wister; a son, Billy Culver of Gadsden, Ala.; three stepdaughters, Christy Posey, Jennifer Rice, and Tammy Brown, all of Fort Smith; three sisters, Jewel Powell of Oxford, Ala., Bobbienell Deavers of Montgomery, Ala., and Sarah Barnes of Columbus, Ga.; a brother, Ed Culver of Fort Smith; and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chance Crockett, Jake and Ronnie Byus, David Bolding, Jason and Ted Lindsey and Charles Nave.
