Erik Karlsson
Erik Wayne Karlsson, 13, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born July 18, 1991, in Tulsa.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Gill Cemetery Pavilion with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his parents, Eric and Mary Karlsson of Fort Smith; a sister, Ashley Karlsson of the home; maternal grandfather, Wayne McCarley of Fort Smith; and paternal grandparents, Lorenzo and Mary Montoya of California.

Neva Kolb
Neva Kolb, 79, of Van Buren died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, in Van Buren. She was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Waurika, Okla. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in 1986 with 41 years of service, was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers, and a former Weight Watchers employee. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Smith for over 50 years.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Ken; and a sister, Ruby Coble of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, John Ware, Perry Edwards, Charles Coble, Andy Estes, Brandon Hubbard and Stephen Lee.
Memorial contributions may be made to Telephone Pioneers, c/o Danny Vernon, SBC, 101 N. 13th, Room 300, Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Katherine Hughes
Katherine Hughes, 74, formerly of Mulberry died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God in Mulberry and the widow of Robert Hughes.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at New Cemetery in Mulberry.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Center and Beverly Hughes, both of Van Buren, and Debbie Peters of Fort Smith; a son, Troy Hughes of Van Buren; a sister, Wanda Dunn of Mulberry; a brother, Howard Peters of Mulberry; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Eric St. Mary, Mark Hughes, Nick Peters, Ryan Center, Mart Hurst and Sam Dunn.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jerome Duffy
OZARK — Jerome P. Duffy, 77, of Ozark died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in Ozark. He was born June 2, 1927, in West Warwick, R.I. He was retired building contractor and an Army veteran of World War II.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with burial at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Caulksville. Obituary submitted by Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by his wife, Leta; a daughter, Debby Sherwood of Seymour, Mo.; a son, Michael Duffy of Champion, Neb.; a stepdaughter, Cherre Desenroth of Kalispel, Mont.; a stepson, Douglas Roberts of Debary, Fla.; a brother, Raymond Duffy of Lakeside, Mont.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Roy Dollarhyde Sr.
MENA — Roy Lee Dollarhyde Sr., 77, of Mena died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, in Mena. He was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Kenwood, Okla. He was a timber worker and of the Pentecostal faith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with graveside service at 3 p.m. Thursday at Elm Grove Cemetery in Leach, Okla.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Michelle Rosson of Mena; three sons, Mark and Patrick Dollarhyde, both of Mena, and Roy Dollarhyde Jr. of Mena; two sisters, Jewel Russell of Pryor, Okla. and Bertha Sitsler of Pegg, Okla.; a brother, Alvie Dollarhyde of Leach, Okla.; 27 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Steven Durham
LAVACA — Steven Heath Durham, 33, of Lavaca died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was born Sept. 30, 1971, in Fort Smith. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lavaca.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Lavaca City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
He is survived by his mother, Diane Durham of Lavaca; his father and stepmother, Steve and Jeannie Mitchell of Roland; and his maternal grandmother, Ruby Inklebarger of Lavaca.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kenneth M. Couch
Kenneth M. Couch, 82, of Hartford died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, in Hartford. He was a retired Whirlpool maintenance mechanic and for more than 40 years operated the Couch Motor Company in Hartford with his brother, Johnny. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of First Baptist Church in Hartford and the Mid-America Old Time Automobile Association.
Kenneth was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Hartford to John Wesley and Ellen Nell Couch. He attended Hartford schools, and in 1938 joined his brother Johnny in his machine shop at Couch Motor Co. in Hartford. Shortly after Pearl Harbor was bombed, he joined the Navy, and served as a machinist’s mate on the USS New Hanover in the South Pacific for the duration of the war.
In 1942, he married Imogene Pennington, and following his discharge from the Navy he returned to Hartford, which has been their home for more than 60 years.
Kenneth was an active member of the Mid-America Old Time Automobile Association and an expert mechanic. He restored several Model T Fords, including the first car he ever owned, a 1916 Model T touring car. He also built a Model T “Speedster,” and Kenneth and Jeanie in one of their Model T’s were familiar sights at the annual Christmas parades in Hartford and Mansfield for many years. He was also a regular exhibitor at the bi-annual Petit Jean Auto Show and Swap Meet at Petit Jean State Park for more than 20 years.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at the Hartford First Baptist Church under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Officiating will be Dr. Tom Harris and Paul McClung. Burial will be at Hartford Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Alan, Jimmy and Larry Boatright, Joseph Bona, John L. Couch, Bill Couch, Jerry and Rick Davidson, Jim Grigsby, Gary and David Pennington, Jeff Tucker and Duane Williams.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John E. Couch and George “Otis” Couch; and two sisters, Lora Couch Bona and Flora Couch Riddle.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Imogene; a daughter, Nan Couch Guffey and son-in-law Bill Guffey of Hartford; a son, Michael Couch and Karen Couch of Greenwood; four grandchildren, John Couch, Sarah Couch Wolff and Justin and Aaron Childs; and five great-grandchildren, Mattie and Andrew Couch, Maryah and Nathan Childs and Ryanne Kate Wolff.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward Hospice in Fort Smith or Gideons International.

Edna Repass
Edna Repass, 86, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of the Westside Pentecostal Church in Huntington.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Mount Olive Cemetery in Midland.
She is survived by one son, Hoyt Repass Jr. of Greenwood; six daughters, Leona Williams and husband Duane of Hartford, Wanda Hearn and husband Donald, Jackie Brazil and Mary Ranz, all of Fort Smith, and Joan Pittman and husband Ray and Vickie Walker and husband Gary, all of Midland; two sisters, Lee Aplanalp of Glendora, Calif., and Louise Balster of San Jose, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Repass Sr.; three grandchildren, Leigh Meeker, Brian Ranz and Michael Williams; one great-great-grandchild, Benton Woodral; two sisters, Melba Slate and Laverne Bryan; and one brother, Kenneth Barnes.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Carl Nichols, Carol Barnes, Steve Strunk, Clarence Holt and Grady and Don Cumbie.

Mary Stout
Mary Stout, 72, of Van Buren died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, in her home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Old Time Country Church.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; a daughter, Betty Turner of Rudy; a sister, Cris Optz of Van Buren; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

James Atchison
PARIS — James “Michael” Atchison, 32, of Paris died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Paris and a 1990 graduate of Paris High School.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Assembly of God in Paris with burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Atchison of Ozark; a son, Baily Atchison of Ozark; his parents, James and Martha Atchison of Paris; and a sister, Tausha Jones of Paris.
Pallbearers will be Troy and Mark Cunningham, Steven Rice, Coby Atchison, Vincent Scott and Chris Parks.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Betty Chapman
CEDARVILLE — Betty Jo Chapman, 72, of Cedarville died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Cedarville and a retired nurse for Oak Lodge Nursing Home, and attended Christian Life Ministries on Uniontown Road. She was the widow of Carman Chapman.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christian Life Ministries Church with burial at Hall Cemetery in Natural Dam under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two daughters, Darla Wiley of Cedarville and Rebecca Walker of El Centro, Calif.; two sons, Clovis and Larry Miller, both of Cedarville; a stepdaughter, Donna Unden of California; three stepsons, Eldon Chapman and Ike and John Lizaragua, all of California; a sister, Joyce Upton of Uban City, Calif.; four brothers, Bill Garrett of Van Buren, Robert Garrett of Alma and Johnny and Paul Garrett, both of Cedarville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Shelia Tucker
Shelia Renee Tucker, 34, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, in Pine Bluff.
The body was cremated under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Tanisha Tucker of Fort Smith and Rosemary Tucker of Pine Bluff; her mother, Brenda Jordan of Fort Smith; her grandfather, Robert Montgomery of Fort Smith; two sisters, Monica Jordan of Fort Smith and LaShawn Montgomery of Spiro; and a brother, Michael Jordan of Louisiana.

Johnnie Shepard
Johnnie “J.K.” Shepard, 68, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a retired roofing contractor, a member of Abundant Life Fellowship, head deacon and head director of Abundant Life Fellowship Food Bank, a retired Air Force veteran and a Mason with Belle Point Lodge No. 20.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; four sons, James and Patrick Shepard, both of Barling, Donald Shepard of Lowell and Steven Shepard of Springdale; a brother, Henry Shepard of Mountainburg; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James, Donald, Patrick, Steven and Brandon Shepard, Bobby Woodrome, and Aaron and David Shepard.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary Dean
WICHITA, Kan. — Mary Jean “Jeanne” Dean, 74, of Wichita died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004. She was an Assemblies of God missionary to Burkina Faso, West Africa, for 19 years, followed by 15 years in Belgium, where she taught at Continental Theological Seminary. After the family’s return to Wichita, she served as a volunteer English teacher at a Vietnamese Center. The Dean family ancestors were pioneers in the Fort Smith-Van Buren area, and many family members still live nearby.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Assembly of God in Wichita under the direction of Affinity Mortuary of Wichita.
A viewing and short ceremony will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God in Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis; a daughter, Becky Karanja of Wichita; a son, Terry Dean of Wichita; three brothers, Jim Welker of Iowa and Earl and Abe Romans, both of Alaska; and a stepsister, Edna McCormick of Arvada, Colo.
A memorial fund has been established at the First Assembly of God in Van Buren. Proceeds will go to the Joyful Song Recording Studio in Burkina Faso, which was established by the Deans 40 years ago.

Edward Grissom
HARTMAN — Edward Eugene Grissom, 41, of Hartman died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, in his home.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Coal Hill Church of Christ in Coal Hill with burial at West Mount Zion Cemetery in Hartman under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Hope; a daughter, Kasey Grissom of Hartman; a son, Gideon Grissom of Hartman; his mother and stepfather, Sandra and George Harvey of Coal Hill; his father, Jesse Grissom of Texas; his grandparents, H.E. Harvey of Clarksville and Charlie and Madeline McCain of Hartman; four sisters, Kimberly Heruska and Gwen Grissom, both of Texas, Madeline Phillips of Clarksville and Meredith Young of Lamar; and a brother, Josh Harvey.
Pallbearers will be Bryan, Todd and Chris McCain, Johnny and Fred Mays and Jason and Jody Dillard.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
