Josephine Johanna Gustavson
Josephine Johanna Gustavson, 80, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, in her home. She was retired from Cedarville School in food service. She was of the Baptist faith and was the widow of Jack Gustavson. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Vanderlindi; and a brother, Glenn Anderson.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Rudd of Van Buren; two sons, Raymond J. Flowers of Fort Smith and William Flowers of Lafayette, Colo.; two foster sons, Richard Strite of Van Buren and Daniel Strite of Fort Smith; four sisters, Clara Hoiland and Margie Adams, both of California, Florence Anderson of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Lila Van-Santen of South Dakota; three brothers, Vernon Anderson of Washington and Charlie and Francis Anderson, both of South Dakota; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sister Emerita Beck
Sister Emerita Beck, age 84, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a registered nurse and a member of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains.
Vespers will be 7:30 p.m. today at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel with burial at St. Scholastica Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Marie, Frances and Catherine Beck; and numerous nieces and nephews, and her religious community.
Pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Scholastica Continuing Care Fund, P.O. Box 3489, Fort Smith AR, 72913.

Henry Allen Hamilton
Henry Allen Hamilton, 46, of Van Buren died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in his home. He was born July 24, 1958, in Mulberry. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a retired truck driver. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Hamilton.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery.
He is survived by his friend, Becky Guyton of Van Buren; his mother, Donna Faye Hamilton of Van Buren; a brother, Ricky Hamilton and wife Sue of Alma; two nieces, Kim Conrow and Melinda McCartt, both of Van Buren; and an aunt, Betty Hamilton of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Mark Warren, Jim Gooch, Jeff Painter, D.J. and Don Oliver and Todd Montgomery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Blasingame, Johnny Painter, Charles Montgomery, Jimmy Don Gooch, Bobby Gregory and Randy Oliver.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren.

Raymond Guy Layman
Raymond Guy Layman, 87, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, in his home in Graham, Texas. Funeral service is scheduled Monday at 2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery.
Mr. Layman was born Dec. 4, 1916, in Cecil to Jerry Madison and Flaura Carnahan Layman. He married Lena Lucille Hill on Dec. 26, 1939, in Branch. She preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 2003. Mr. Layman moved to Graham in 1955 from Paris. Mr. Layman was retired from Southern Bleacher, where he had worked for over 40 years. He was a member of Hudson Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, Ronald Guy Layman and wife Ellen of Graham; two grandchildren, Ashley and Brady Layman; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Layman was preceded in death by a son, Malcom Layman, in 1948.

S.J. Conner
S.J. “Jack” Conner, 77, of Fort Smith died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a retired pharmacist and a retired chemist for Gerber Baby Foods. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member and past elder of Park Hill Church of Christ and a former member of the Lions Club and the Computer Club.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne; a daughter, Ann Roache of San Antonio; two sisters, Joyce Minchew of Fort Smith and Alice Buckman of Tulsa; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary O’Kelly, Dave Hopper, Jeff Buckman, Benny Conner, Jerry Taylor and Carl Doran.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Sister Mary Rossi
Sister Mary Paul Rossi, 91, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at St. Scholastica Monastery. She was a licensed practical nurse. She made her religious profession June 24, 1932.
Vespers will be 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel with burial at St. Scholastica Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two sisters, Sister Elizabeth Rossi of St. Sholastica and Bernardine Noll of Morrilton; and two brothers, Angelo Rossi of Jacksonville and Pete Rossi of Center Ridge.

Doretha Lashlee
COAL HILL — Doretha C. Lashlee, 77, of Coal Hill died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, in Clarksville. She was a farm laborer.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Coal Hill Assembly of God with burial at Hess Cemetery in Coal Hill under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence; a daughter Sharon Lashlee of the home; a son, Shelden Lashlee of Coal Hill; a sister, Reba Nagel of Coal Hill; a brother, John Hanson of California; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Walt, Chris and Bret Nagel, Bill Richards, Eugene Scarberry and Dewey Bradley.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Norma Shibley
Norma Shibley, 80, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, in Quincy, Ill. She was a homemaker and a member of Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Shibley Jr.; and a grandson, Jimmy Abbott.
Mrs. Shibley is survived by two daughters, Susan Abbott of Quincy, Ill., and Karen Fingerhut of Van Buren; three grandchildren, Kylee Abbott of Quincy, Ill., Colby and Katie Fingerhut, both of Van Buren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Randy Fingerhut, James Abbott, Colby Fingerhut, James Minor, Elmo Evans and Benton Cone.

Juanita Weiche
Juanita Weiche, 87, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Deport, Texas. She was a homemaker, of the Baptist faith and the widow of Florian Weiche.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two sons, Florian and Michael Weiche, both of Fort Smith; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

James Warren
MULBERRY — James Wallace Warren, 69, of Mulberry died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in his home. He was born March 26, 1935, in Ponca City, Okla. He was an Army veteran, a farmer and of the Pentecostal faith.
Memorial service was held Friday at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy Cordova of Louisville, Colo.; two sons, Gary and Mike Warren, both of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Judy Morse of Mulberry; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jody Hester
BOONEVILLE — Jody Hester, 65, of Booneville died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a member of Mixon Baptist Church near Booneville and was a timber worker.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Carolan Cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; three sons, Larry, Cecil and Kenny Hester, all of Booneville; a sister, Ravie Wooten of Booneville; three brothers, Willis and Bobby Hester, both of Booneville, and Billy Hester of Pea Ridge; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Millie Kirby
OZARK — Millie Kirby, 82, of Ozark died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in Ozark. She was born Oct. 11, 1922, in Ratcliff. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church north of Caulksville.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Faith Missionary Baptist Church south of Ozark with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery north of Caulksville under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by three sons, Thurman Kirby Jr. of Ozark, Jerry Kirby of Fort Smith and Ronnie Kirby of Roseville; two sisters, Wilma Weeks of Fort Smith and Jean Mathis of Ozark; a brother, Bobby Stiles of Etna; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Josh Willhite, Steve and Harold Holt, Perry Johnson, Fred Zeiler and Lonnie Turner.
The family will visit with friends in the fellowship hall at the church after the burial.

Sherl Massey
MOFFETT — Sherl Dean Massey, 50, of Moffett died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004. He was born Dec. 5, 1953, in Cedars, Okla. He attended Spiro schools, was a line operator for Ilpea Plastic Manufacturers and a member of New Morning Star Baptist Church in Moffett.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Horton-Owens Complex in Moffett with burial at Shady Grove Cemetery in Roland under the direction of Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors Inc. of Muskogee, Okla.
He is survived by his wife, Tilda; his children, Michelle and James Copeland, both of Fort Smith, Sherl and Michael Batiste, both of Oklahoma City; several sisters; several brothers; and three grandchildren.

Kathryn Satterfield
Kathryn Satterfield, 84, of Spiro died Dec. 9, 2004, in Spiro. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Gene, of the home; two daughters, Virginia Miller of Spiro and Kathey Satterfield of Spiro; three sons, Charles Russell of San Diego, Wayne Satterfield of Wrightwood, Calif., and Teddy Satterfield of Spiro; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Monday at noon in the Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 p.m.

Ona M. Rupe
Ona M. Rupe, 69, of Fort Smith died Dec. 8, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning and, most of all, bird watching.
She is survived by three daughters, Viola and Wesley Brown of Fort Smith, Karin Elliott of Fort Smith and Master Sgt. Matricia and Wendell Caldwell of San Antonio; two sisters, Mable Wilkerson of Bentonville and Elsie Davis of Centerton; two brothers, Alvin Pendergraft of Siloam Springs and Jesse R. Pendergraft of Noel, Mo.; two grandchildren, Natalie and Gregg Oetzel and Kellie Elliott; and five great-grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah Jane Elliott and Patrick, Zachary and Matthew Oetzel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horton “Sarge” Rupe.
Funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery of Fort Smith, all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Wes Brown, Frank Stevenson, Gregg Oetzel, Wendell Caldwell, Mark Wilkerson, Phil Wilkerson, Mark Pugh and Lee Davis.
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 p.m.
