William E. “Bill” Huey Jr.
William E. “Bill” Huey Jr., age 85, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Fort Smith and a retired building inspector for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. He is preceded in death by his parents, William E. Sr. and Izetta Huey.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Flocine Huey of the home; a daughter, Marie Canaday of Fort Smith; a son, Steve Huey of Russellville; and several cousins.
Pallbearers will be Charles Stockton, Al Swaim, Larry Mays, the Rev. Bill Cheyne, Fred Snipes and Jack Cleavenger.
Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Holton, Jack Ragon Jr., Col. Weldon Ramey, the Rev. Dois Kennedy and the staff of Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Field of Dreams, c/o The City of Van Buren, 1003 Broadway, Van Buren AR 72956; or Faith United Methodist Church, 2901 Massard Road, Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Sue Parker
Sue Parker, 72, of Fort Smith passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a member of the First Church of Nazarene. She volunteered with the Seventh-day Adventist School, where the children call her “Grandma Sue.” She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene R. Parker, in 1986.
Graveside service will be held noon Tuesday at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her sons, Ray Parker and wife Margie of Wichita, Kan., and Joe Parker and wife Brenda of Fort Smith; brothers, Housei and Houei Nako, both of Japan; and four grandchildren, Michael Parker of Norman, Okla., Kimberley Easton of Tulsa and Austin and Mark Parker, both of Fort Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Support House, 3324 S. M St., Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Julian D. Jones
Julian D. Jones, 66, of Fort Smith passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was a retired salesman for Weldon Williams & Lick.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his two sisters, Barbara Winters of Fort Smith and Shirley Bytheway of Santa Clara, Calif.; three nieces, Vicki Hopper of Fort Smith, Julie Garcia of Fremont, Calif., and Janna Turner of Bothell, Wash.; two nephews, Charlie Winter Jr. of North Little Rock and Scott Turner of Sunny Vale, Calif.; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 292, Fort Smith, AR 72902; or St. Jude’s Hospital, 539 Lane Ave., Memphis, TN 38105.

Velta Rogers
Velta Rogers, 70, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, in a local nursing home. She was a retired supply technician for St. Edward Mercy Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her husband, Buddy.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Smith of Fort Smith and Earl Smith of Mulberry; one sister, Mary Bentley of Edmond, Okla.; one brother, Dewey Cecil of Arkoma; and two grandchildren.
The memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren. Her body was donated to medical science and there will be no public viewing.

Grace Margaret Baker
Grace Margaret Baker, 78, of Ozark died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of the Altus Eagles Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Ozark. She was preceded in death by husbands Gus Bradley and James Baker; one son, Gus Bradley Jr.; one sister, Eula Jean Frye; one brother, Herman Dee Sells; and parents Vernoit Sells and Lester Mae Leaver Sells.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mountain View Cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Yocum of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Carol Sue Whitson of Ozark; a sister, Wanda Houser of Austin, Texas; and four grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pauline Bliss
Pauline Bliss, 94, of Waldron died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born Sept. 2, 1910, in Shirley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Chester Bliss. She was a homemaker.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Sehorn Cemetery in Waldron.
She is survived by a daughter, Jo Bobbitt of Fort Smith; two sons, Charles Dutch Bliss o Waldron and Harold C. Bliss of Fort Smith; a sister, Mary Evans of California; a brother, Charles Brown of Michigan; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
The body may be viewed from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Douglas W. Howell
Douglas W. Howell, age 82, of the San Francisco Bay area passed away on Jan. 13, 2005, in Dallas. He is preceded in death by his parents, W.A. “Bill” and Florence Lee Howell; and his sister, Jean Howell Audas.
He was a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and a veteran of World War II and was retired from the U.S. Treasury Department after a 51-year career.
He is survived by his nieces, Joan Audas Ashford of Waldron and Drinda Audas Patterson of Pulaski, Tenn.; a brother-in-law, Clyde M. Audas of Waldron; and seven great nieces and nephews, including Brent Ashford of Dallas.
A private family service will be held Monday with burial at Hon Cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donald Eugene Blunier
Donald Eugene Blunier, 74, formerly of Eau Claire, Mich., died Dec. 28, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a retired 7-Eleven clerk and former owner of Safety Racing Equipment. He served in the Air Force and the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by three sons, Michael Blunier of Mishawaka, Ind., Brice Blunier of Coloma, Mich., and Brett Blunier of Eau Claire; two daughters, Teresa Babb of Fort Smith and Bethany Nunes of Sallisaw; one brother, Ken Blunier of Granger, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Private interment will be at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith on Friday. The body will be cremated.
Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

Julia Isabell Ivie
Julia Isabell Ivie died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, in a local hospital. She was born on Feb. 8, 1912, in Denning to her parents, Clara and Bill Becker. She married Lawrence Ivie on April 6, 1938, and moved to Harrison. In 1973 she moved back to Fort Smith after the death of her husband.
Julia was a member of Midland Heights United Methodist Church, where she was very active. She taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school and played the piano for classes. She was also the church librarian. Julia was a wonderful cook, seamstress, gardener and homemaker.
She is survived by her brother, Albert Becker of Del City, Okla.; and her two sisters, Maudie Gallagher and Ethel Baker, both of Fort Smith.
Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bill, Gene, Fred and Charlie Gallagher, Bill Becker and Robert Ward.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Daisy Lee Chappell
Daisy Lee Chappell, age 86, entered into eternal rest Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, in her home. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a dear friend to many. She was born Sept. 14, 1918, to Henry and Ida Mae Gamble in Hackett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlen D. Chappell; three brothers, L.B., Lester and Lenial Gamble; and one sister, Ida Mae Gamble. She was a homemaker and shared one of her many interests and hobbies with her son as owners of Lee’s Antiques & Things. She had an eye for art and spent many years drawing and painting.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith with burial at Mountain View Cemetery in Hackett.
She is survived by two daughters, Trudy Prizina and Brenda Baker, both of Van Buren; one son, Theron Lee Chappell of Fort Smith; one sister, Bessie Jean Cattaneo of Los Angeles; one brother, Jack Gamble of Fort Smith; eight grandchildren, Starla Stewart, Sheila McQuiston, Beth Prizina, Tracy Waters, Stacy Butler, Donna Kelly, Patricia Fuller and Tammy Maurer; 21 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rusty and Brandon Butler, Rusty Butler II, T.G. and Zachary Maurer, Mark Fuller and Eric Kelly.
Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Robbie Jones
Robbie Jones, 73, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church and an instructor at Arkansas Beauty College.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Buck; a daughter, Linda Carrens of Tampa, Fla.; a son, Mike Jones of Bartlesville, Okla.; a brother, W.C. Carter of Eudora, Kan.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Gibson
HACKETT — James Eugene Gibson, 67, of Hackett died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was retired from Rheem after 30 years and was a member of the Western Arkansas Coon Hunters Association.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Mountain View Cemetery in Hackett.
He is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Howard and Angela York, both of Greenwood, and Carmen Gibson of Hackett; a son, Greg Gibson of Hackett; his father, James Gibson of Hackett; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Sean and Bolin Stewart, Kevin Clopton, Doug Wooten, Louis Kirkendall and Jonathan Mathis.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

J.T. Brison
HARTMAN — J.T. Brison, 71, of Hartman died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a U.S. Forestry Service employee, a Baptist and the widower of Louise Brison.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Hunt.
He is survived by three daughters, Deborah Scarberry and Brenda Drum, both of Hartman, and Loretta Whitson of Zimmerman, Minn.; a son, Jerry Brison of Coal Hill; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Huff, Hoyt Knight, Charles Jones, Bob Lightner, Harley Parker and Carl Collins.
The body may be viewed from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
