Ray Cowan
MOUNTAINBURG — Ray Leon Cowan, 62, of Mountainburg, formerly of Fort Smith, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 13, 1942, in Fort Smith. He was an Air Force veteran and a musician.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Beeson and Cheri Douglas, both of Fort Smith; a son, Jeff Cowan of Tulsa; a sister, Malinda Cowan of Fort Smith; three brothers, William Cowan of Fort Smith, Steve Cowan of Dallas, and Robert Cowan of Cowan Ranch, Texas; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan and Lowell Coomer and Bill, Steve and Bob Cowan.

Lois Morran
WILLS POINT, Texas — Lois Morran, 61, of Wills Point died Friday, March 4, 2005, in Tyler, Texas. She was born May 10, 1943, in Stuebenville, Ohio. She was retired from Terrell State Hospital after 20 years of service.
Funeral was held Monday at Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; three daughters, Vanna McCarter of Topeka, Kan., Glenda Ashley of Charleston, and Laura Priest of Canton; her mother, Imogene Kilgore of Willis Point; a sister, Saundra Smith of Coldwater, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.

Blanche R. Caton
Blanche R. Caton, 85, of Lavaca died Sunday, March 6, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was born Jan. 30, 1920, in Arbuckle Island to Albert and Cassie Weese Smith. She was a member of the Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church and the Lavaca Senior Citizens Center and the widow of Loyd Caton.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Garden of Memories in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by six cousins, J.O. Campbell, Irene Williams and Elmer Yancey Jr., all of Lavaca, Audie and Clifford Hendricks, both of Central City, and Thelma Taff of California.
Pallbearers will be Landon Scoggins, Jimmy Barnes, Keith Dunn, Wilburn Wilson, Donald and Jimmy Cook.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Lavaca Senior Citizens Center.

Phyllis K. Jones
Phyllis K. Jones, 70, of Fort Smith passed away Monday, March 7, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church in Van Buren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Jones Jr.; parents, William Clyde Smith Sr. and Lula Jane Smith; and brother, William Clyde Smith Jr.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Wofford and her husband, Louis of Fort Smith; one son, Eugene Jones of Fort Smith; three sisters, Lola Mae Siu of Anaheim, Calif., Velma Lucille Smith of Fort Smith, and Barbara Sue Beaver of Fort Smith; and three grandsons, Robert and Tim Wofford and Jeff Jones.
Pallbearers will be Robert Wofford, Tim Wofford, Jeff Jones, Austin Pate, Mark Scharf and Monte Littlejohn.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Bishop and McKale Weeks.
Family will visit with friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.

Sue Bennett Griggs
Sue Bennett Griggs, 83, of Hot Springs Village died Monday, March 7, 2005, in St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center. She was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Van Buren and was a Presbyterian. She was predeceased by her mother, Lettie Pearl Maxey Scott; father, James Monroe Scott; brother, Maxey Scott; and former husband, James T. Bennett.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Caruth Village Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Dewey officiating.
She is survived by two daughters, Jenna and Bob Kendig of Hot Springs Village and Diann Bennett-Reyes of Hot Springs Village; a son, Robert Bennett of Frisco, Texas; a sister, Thelma Yoes of Lincoln, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Putman Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Beeson and Cheri Lynn Douglas, both of Fort Smith; a son, Jeff Cowan of Tulsa; a sister, Kay Cowan of Fort Smith; three brothers, Bill Cowan of Fort Smith, Steve Cowan of Dallas, and Bob Cowan of Cowan Ranch, Texas; and three grandchildren, Billy Douglas, Karoline Beeson and Sarah Beeson, all of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan and Lowell Coomer and Bill, Steve and Bob Cowan.

Charles Hayward
Charles Hayward, 66, of Van Buren died Monday, March 7, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was a retired welder for U.S. Forge Craft and a member of NRA.
There are no services scheduled. The body will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He survived by his wife, Judy; three daughters, Valerie Johnson and Deborah Davis, both of Fort Smith, and Ginger Tabor of Bella Vista; two sisters, Shirley Harbur of Memphis, Mo., and Margaret Crabtree of Edina, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bill Harvey
MENA — Bill Ray Harvey, 73, of Mena died Sunday, March 6, 2005. He was born May 10, 1931, in Mena. He graduated from Mena High School, served in the Army during the Korean War, earned a bachelor of science in hotel and restaurant management from Oklahoma State University, was food director for William Jewel College in Liberty, Mo., and worked at the Lime Tree Inn and Restaurant. He was a licensed contractor, a member of Dallas Avenue Baptist Church, past president of Mena Lions Club and Mena Good Sams Club, a board member of Rich Mountain Community College, and past state president of Arkansas Lodging Association.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; two daughters, Angie Harvey of Sherwood and Sheri Fisher of Hot Springs; a son, Marty Harvey of Mena; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Daryen and Colten Wiles, Scott Morris, John Herron, Dean Pearce and Wayne Ramsey.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Queen Wilhelmina Good Sam Club.
Family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Dallas Avenue Baptist Church or the Rich Mountain Community College Scholarship Fund.

Imogene Tudor
NATURAL DAM — Imogene Tudor of Natural Dam died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Independence Freewill Baptist Church in Natural Dam.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Independence Freewill Baptist Church in Natural Dam with burial at Hall Cemetery in Natural Dam under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; three daughters, Rhonda Turner of Van Buren, Cherlyn Brodrick of Hot Springs, and Angie Shockey of Van Buren; two sons, David and Rocky Tudor, both of Natural Dam; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Rick Rice, Jerry Loggins, Buddy Turner, Randy Tudor, Casey and Dusty Tuner.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Aubrey Walden
Aubrey Walden, 99, of Fort Smith died Sunday, March 6, 2005, in Arkoma. He was a member of the Westark Church of Christ and the American Legion Post No. 31. He retired from Echols Elementary School as custodian, was a greeter at Golden Corral, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Neva Walden.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at U.S. National Cemetery.
He is survived by a daughter, Martha Gunter of Arkoma; three sisters, Jo Watts of Perryville, Hazel Stallard of Santa Ana, Calif., and Imadale Huckins of Ridgecrest, Calif.; a brother, G.P. Walden of Portland, Ore.; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Steve Whitson, Billy Yowell, Richard Bullard, Earl Flood, Ben Pearson, Wilburn Howard, Randy Gunter and Brad Pistole.
Memorial contributions may be made to Westark Church of Christ, 900 N. Waldron, Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Johnie Adams
Johnie Lois Adams, 96, of Fort Smith, formerly of Shawnee, Okla., died Sunday, March 6, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was born March 5, 1909, in Fluvana, Texas. She was a vocational home economics teacher, attended Fredrich High School and Oklahoma College for Women, was a Sunday school teacher and BTU teacher, taught six years in Ethiopia and was the widow of Otis Adams.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Walker Funeral Service of Shawnee.
She is survived by a son, O.S. Adams Jr. of Fort Smith; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Casket will remain open until 10:30 a.m. today and will not be open at the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mikela Adams Grider Memorial Scholarship Fund at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Thomas Mayo
RUDY — Thomas Fay Mayo, 90, of Rudy died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in a local nursing home. He was a retired farmer and cattleman, a member of First Baptist Church in Alma, and the widower of Elsie Mayo.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by a son, Bobby Mayo of Missouri City, Texas; a sister, Edna Coleman of Van Buren; three brothers, Gene Mayo of San Antonio, Elmo Mayo of Van Buren, and Harold Mayo of Hayward, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry and Bill Coleman, Skylar Hayes, Edward Graham, Michael Hardison and Harry Garman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Oliver Springs Addition.

Royal Coker
Royal T. Coker, 75, of Fort Smith died Sunday, March 6, 2005. He was a sergeant in the Marine Corps, retired from the Champion Box Co. in 1984 and Cavanaugh Grade School in 1995, and graduated from Westark College in 1954.
Funeral will be noon today at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial at U.S. National Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Nina; a daughter, Cindy Ragan of Grand Lake, Okla.; three sons, Grant, Keith and Mark Coker, all of Fort Smith; three sisters, Dorothy Clark of Panama, Velta Hunter of Bokoshe, and Gayle Matlock of Keota, Okla.; a brother, Loyal Coker of Haskell, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Nathan and Michael Bain, Matt, Ethan and Zac Coker and Bill Taylor.
