Doris Gates, 76, of Camden, died Oct. 17, 2005 in Sherwood. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Al Rose Sunday school class.
She is survived by her husband, Delton Gates of Camden; daughters, Gayle Beeson of Sherwood and Carol Neal of Magnolia; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Oct. 19 at the First United Methodist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Kathleen King, 58, of Sherwood, died Aug. 25, 2005.
She was retired from the Pulaski County School District as a program specialist and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Dick King, of Sherwood; sons, Christopher King, of Huntsville, AL, Brian King, of Lewisville, TX, and Mark King, of Memphis, TN; mother, Lillian Pfeifer, of Naperville, IL; brother, Robert Pfeifer, of Waukesha, WI.; sister, Renee Blackmon, of North Aurora, IL; and six grandchildren.

Imo L. Hindman
Imo Lunsford Hindman, 87, of Des Arc, died Aug. 26, 2005.
She worked at Frolic Footwear many years before her employment with Arkansas State University. After retiring from Arkansas State University in 1991, she moved to Des Arc. She was a member of University Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
She is survived by her sons, Donald Hindman of Sherwood and Ronnie Hindman of Cabot; daughter, Janice Huffstickler of Des Arc; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and twin sister, Inez McDaniel, Lakeport, CA.
Funeral Services were held Aug. 29 with burial following at the Pine Log Cemetery.
Carl E. Patrick
Carl E. Patrick, 80, of Sherwood, died Aug. 26, 2005.
He was the owner-operator of Carl Patrick Cycle Shop after retiring from Rock Island Railroad as a switchman.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of Sherwood; daughters, Susan Benson of North Little Rock; Vonne Bone of Plano, TX; Brenda Manton of McKinney, TX; and Pamela Bourquin of North Little Rock; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Aug. 29 at the Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church in Sherwood. Interment followed in the Pinecrest Memorial Park. Charles L. Raymond
Charles L. Raymond, 77, of El Dorado, died Aug. 25, 2005.
He served in the U.S. Army. He began a second career with the U.S. Postal Service in Newport that lasted from 1972-1989. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newport.
He is survived by his sisters, Nellie Louise Campbell of Sherwood, and Peggy M. Olsen of El Dorado; brother, Billy Joe Raymond of Newport; son, Theodor Kempter of Newport; one step-granddaughter; and two step-great grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Aug. 29 at the Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel.

Velda R. Hammons
Velda Rose Hammons, 70, of Lufkin, TX, died Aug. 23, 2005.
She was a teacher and taught school at Central High School and the Lufkin State School, both in Pollok, TX, for a number of years. She also taught English as a second language at schools in Tyler as well as the state prison in Lufkin.
Survivors include her sons, Eugene C. Hammons, Jr., of Phoenix, AZ, David Lee Hammons of Austin, TX, Rev. Timothy J. Hammons of Aiken, SC, John Paul Hammons of Irvine, CA, and Stokely M. Hammons of Lufkin; seven grandchildren; and sister, Marvelle Harmon of Sherwood.
Memorial services were held Aug. 26 in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin.
Oland Charles Rye
Oland Charles “Buck” Rye, 85, Humnoke, died Aug. 28, 2005.
He was a retired farmer and a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his daughters, Patsy Looney of Sherwood, and Renee Lovelady of Carlisle; sons, Danny Rye of Sherwood, Jerry Rye, Sr., of Graham, WA, and Keith Rye of Stuttgart; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wed., Aug. 31, at Roller-England Funeral Home Chapel in England with burial in Union Valley Cemetery.
Harry Loren Rogers
Harry Loren Rogers, 87, of Temple, TX, formerly of North Little Rock/ Sherwood, died Aug. 27, 2005. He worked in insurance accounting for many years and retired from Pioneer Supply Company.
He is survived by his son Mark Rogers of Tulsa, OK; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wed., Aug. 31, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Rest Hills with Bill Barber of Jonesboro officiating. Burial followed at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
Thelma G. Ahrens
Thelma Gwendolyn Latham Ahrens, 80, of Conway, died Aug. 29, 2005. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Johnson City, TX.
She is survived by her husband H.C. “Hank” Ahrens; son, Ronald Ervin of Beaumont, TX; daughter, Nancy Bishop of Sherwood; stepson, Mark Ahrens of San Clemente, CA; stepdaughter, Madelyn Ahrens of Kingsville, TX; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thurs., Sept. 1, at the Roller McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Conway, Rev. Ken Gipson officiating.
Burial was in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
Beverly Ann Perry
Beverly Ann Perry, 59, of Jacksonville died July 14, 2003.
She is survived by sons, Johnny Allen Youngblood of Jacksonville, Kenneth Wayne Youngblood of Sherwood and Robert Lee Youngblood of Jacksonville; a daughter, Dorothy May Bratton of Little Rock; sisters, Shirley Pierce of Texarkana, Donna Holihan of Reno, Nev., and Janie Houck of Little Rock; and six grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m., July 17 in the Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
Billy Bock, 68, of Pine Bluff died Tuesday, July 8, 2003.
In boxing, he was a 5-time State Golden Gloves Champion, Mid-South Champion, AAU Champion, Louisiana-Arkansas National Guards Champion, named “Outstanding Boxer” in the Regional National Golden Gloves Tournament in Tulsa, Okla., and participated in the National AAU Tournament in Toledo, Ohio, and in the Chicago National Golden Gloves Tournament. He had coached in Arkansas for 44 years. Six of the 35 years in baseball were as head coach at Henderson State University, the other 29 years, were at St. Anne’s Academy in Ft. Smith, Sylvan Hills High School in Sherwood, Arkansas High at Texarkana, and the past 21 years at Pine Bluff High School.
This year he was selected for induction into the American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. He is the 14th high school coach to ever receive this award. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joe Ann West Bock; two sons, Kraig Bock of Austin, Texas, Kirk Bock of Harrison; two daughters, Kellie Cohen of Ft. Smith, Kim Buck of Texarkana, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with graveside services at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery in Clarksville by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. A Rosary service was said at Ralph Robinson and Son Chapel Thursday.

She was a member of Brockington Road Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Tobey of Evergreen, Colo., Patrick Tobey of Lee Summit, Mo.; daughter, Mary Garvin of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sister, Rita Walker of North Little Rock; brother, Kenneth Robinson of Memphis, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

David Linder Crafton
David Linder Crafton died July 12, 2003.
He is survived by brother, Burl Crafton and sisters Alice Brinkley and Louise Tarkington; sons, Charles Crafton of Sherwood, Derwayne Crafton of Jacksonville, Kenneth Crafton of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren ; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
He was co-founder of Crafton’s Furniture (formerly Crafton and Cooper Furniture) in Jacksonville and Searcy. He served as deacon for Fullers Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in North Little Rock.
Funeral was July 15, at Rest Hills.

Ethel Ophelia Britt
Ethel Ophelia Britt, 71, of Sherwood died July 14, 2003.
Survivors include her daughter, Ethel Ussery; sons, John, Larry, Rodney and Michael Kagebein; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ola Britt and Johnnie Orene Green.
The body was cremated, with a private burial to be held at a later date.
Jesse Lee Kidd, Jr.
Jesse Lee Kidd, Jr., age 61, was born April 21, 1942 in Charleston, S.C., and died July 1, 2003.
He proudly served his country with two tours to Vietnam as a U.S. Marine and retired as a U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant after 20 years of combined service. He retired from the city of Sherwood after 12 years of work as a Code Enforcer in 1997 to pursue his hobbies of gardening and spending time with this grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving, caring, giving husband, father, grandfather, son-in-law and friend.
He was predeceased by his father and mother, Jesse Lee Kidd, Sr., and Helen Benton Kidd.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Johnson Kidd of Sherwood; daughter, Melissa Lee Reed and husband Darin of Spokane, WA; two grandchildren, Jason Lee Reed and Brandon Taylor Reed of Spokane, WA; mother-in-law Evelyn Johnson, Sherwood; sister Annice Birmingham, Olive Branch, MS; brother, Craig Kidd, Dallas, TX; aunt, Hallie Chatham, Holly Springs, MS; special aunts, Betty Sue Estes and Aileen Craddock; and numerous family and friends.
Visitiation was at North Little Rock Funeral Home Wednesday, July 2, with visitation at Holly Springs Funeral Home Thursday, July 3, 2003. Graveside services were at Hillcrest Cemetery, Holly Springs, MS on Thursday, July 3, 2003, by Rev. Mark Stripling.

Wanza L. Humphrey
Wanza Louise Humphrey of Sherwood, died June 18, 2003.
She was a charter member of Sylvan Hills Church of Christ.
Survivors are her husband of 58 years, Al Humphrey; two daughters, Becky Patterson and Sherry Goodnight; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
