Sadie O. Griffin

BENTON - Sadie Otts Griffin, 80, of Benton died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in a Malvern hospital.

Born Jan. 24, 1919, at Malvern to Marion and Cora Sims Otts, she was a homemaker and member of First Assembly of God Church. She was predeceased by one son, Ralph Martin, three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Charles M. Griffin of Benton; eight sons, James Griffin and Donnie Martin, both of North Carolina, Johnny Griffin of Georgia, Bill Martin of Texas, Jerry Martin of Vilonia, Lloyd Martin of Sherwd, Fred Martin of Benton and Ronnie Martin of Little Rock; five daughters, Mary Rhea of Malvern, Lelia Strickland and Cora Branch, both of Benton, Linda Strickland of Texas and Kathy Dietrich of Tennessee; one brother, Tommy Otts of Louisiana; three sisters, Eloise Grant and Polly Orr, both of Malvern, and Corrine Burris of New Mexico; 49 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Darrell Teeter and Don Nordin officiating.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Arrangements are by Atkinson Funeral Home, Malvern.

John J. Lennon

Dr. John J. Lennon, 76, of Hot Springs died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in Little Rock.

Arrangements will be announced by Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Mary A. Minney

Mary Aline Minney, 73, of Hot Springs died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in a local hospital.

Born Oct. 29, 1925, at Clarksville, she was a homemaker and Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, J.H. Minney of Hot Springs; one son, Larry Minney of Hot Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Celeste and Don Chmura and Marlena and Richard Newton, all of Hot Springs; one sister, Maxine Patterson of Fresno, Calif.; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Blanche Garrett of Valdosta, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Brad Newton, Brianne Newton, Ryan Minney and Mark Chmura.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Crestview Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Smith officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are National Park Medical Center ICU staff and volunteers and Dr. Edward Warren and staff.

Arrangements are by Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Susie Payton

Susie Payton of Hot Springs died Monday, April 26, 1999, in a local hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Aaron K. Power

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Chief Warrant Officer Aaron King Power, 30, of Clarksville, Tenn., died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Fort Campbell, Ky.

A U.S. Army Ranger, he was a member of 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He was predeceased by his father, Bill Power, and his grandfather, Dr. Jack A. King.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Power of Clarksville; his mother, Jacqueline Power of Laredo, Texas; one aunt, Elizabeth King of Hot Springs; and two uncles, Jack A. King Jr. and Kenneth King, both of Cabot.

Memorial services will be Tuesday at Fort Campbell.

Burial will be 11:45 a.m. Thursday in Arlington National Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Arlington Funeral Home, Arlington, Va.

Minnie B. Smith

Minnie Bell Smith, 81, of Hot Springs died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in a local hospital.

Born Aug. 30, 1917, at Morristown, Tenn., to Thomas and Maggie Estes, she was a member of Church of God in Newport.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Sharon Smith of Hot Springs; two grandchildren, Tammy Smith and Tim Smith; and five great-grandchildren, Wesley Smith, Nathyn Smith, Sydni Smith, Loren Smith and Lexi Smith.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Gardens with Brother Jimmy Scott officiating.

Honorary pallbearers is Rosewd Nursing Home third flr staff.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The family will be at 107 Scotch Court.

Arrangements are by Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Jess Toland

Jess "Rusty" Toland, 72, of Hot Springs died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in a local hospital.

Born July 16, 1926, at Old Boggie, Okla., to Isaac "Shorty" and Linnie Lou Linnie Toland, he was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, retired owner of Toland's Custom Boat Seats and member of Assembly of God. He was predeceased by one son, Ricky Toland; one brother, Wilburn R. Toland; and two sister, Vada Brown and Essie Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Wright Toland of Hot Springs; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jack and Dawn Toland, Mike Toland and Kirk "Shorty" and Donna Toland, all of Hot Springs; three stepsons and two stepdaughters-in-law, Kenneth and Trish Wright of Russellville, Darrell Wright of Little Rock and Philip and Alissa Wright of Hot Springs; one brother, Tommy Toland; two sisters, Addie Savin of Arkadelphia and Dottie Streich of Pine Bluff; two grandchildren, Brett M. Toland and Spencer A. Toland; and three stepgrandchildren, Amanda Wright, Colt Wright and Dakota Wright.

Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hot Springs Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Thomas Gotcher officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors provided by Thaddeus H. Caraway VFW Post 2278 honor guard.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Muriel L.C. Williams

BATON ROUGE, La. - Muriel L. Cox Williams, 75, of Baton Rouge, La., formerly of Hot Springs Village, died Saturday, April 24, 1999.

A native of Lubbock, Texas, she was a real estate manager retired from Stan Webber Realty and Gertrude Gardner Realty, member of Hosanna Christian Assembly, former member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hot Springs Village and worked with Lutheran Braille Workers.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence F. Williams; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Linda Williams of Kenner, La., and Donald and Eileen Williams of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church and 7 p.m. Tuesday at Greenoaks Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Anzivino officiating.

Terrill R. David

Services for Terrill R. David, 51, of Hot Springs who died Friday, April 30, 1999, will be 2:30 p.m. Monday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with Jimmie Lancaster officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Kent David, James Paul Hunter, Bill Baumgardner, Andy Smith, Henry Marlin, C.O. Palmer, Robert Hall and John Hugg.

Honorary pallbearers are sales staff and employees of Hugg and Hall Equipment co., Roger and Shelley Marini, Kelly Smith, Terry Myers, Drs. Kyle Roper, Robert Aspell, John Brunner, Timothy Webb and Charles Agee, the surgery, oncology and ICU units at St. Joseph's Regional Health Center.

Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, the American Cancer Society or First Christian Church, Garden of Eden.

Arrangements are by Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Myrtie M. Johnson

MALVERN - Myrtie M. Johnson, 87, of Malvern Died Sunday, May 2, 1999, in a local hospital.

Born Aug. 20, 1911, at Brown Springs to Thomas Reuben and Rebecca Spears Vaughan. She was a homemaker, member of Rebecca Lodge and Second Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sisters, Katie Anglin of Los Angeles, Calif., Archie Brashier of Hot Springs and Corene Davis of Malvern; a sister-in-law, Neva Vaughan of Malvern; three nephews; and four nieces.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Atkinson Funeral Home chapel with Brother Edgar Sutton officiating.

Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Second Baptist Church deacons.

Lillian S. Mandel

Lillian Sarah Mandel of Hot Springs died Sunday, May 2, 1999, in a local nursing home.

She was born in New York City, N.Y., and was Jewish. She was predeceased by her parents, Israel and Pauline Zunders Goldberg, her husband, Milan Mandel, and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Leonard M. and Norma Mendel of Pearcy and Paul and Ruth Mendel of West Palm Beach; a sister, Tessie Bender of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Jewish Rest Cemetery with Kathy Schwartz officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are staff of Quapaw Healthcare, Drs. John Simpson and Martin Koehn and Sandy McFarland. Memorials may be made to Garland County Humane Society, Box 1484, Hot Springs, AR 71902.

Arrangements are by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.
