Grundy Austin Jr.
MARKED TREE -- Grundy Austin Jr., 84, of Marked Tree died April 11, 2006. He was born in Togo and lived some 60 years at Marked Tree. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. He spent his employment years doing factory work.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Phillips Austin of the home; two daughters, Ida Shumpert of Jericho and LaSonya Williams of Marked Tree; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. G.C. Simpson Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery at Marked Tree under the direction of Woodard Funeral Service.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m Friday in the funeral home.
Joann Justus Bushman
LENOIR, N.C. -- Joann Justus Essman Kessler Bushman of Lenoir and formerly Hendersonville, N.C., died at her residence on Tuesday, April 11, 2006. She was born at Tyronza on July 7, 1934.
Joann is survived by her husband, Donald Bushman; her children's father, Richard Essman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her siblings, Jane Johnson of Memphis, Sonny Justus of Tryonza and Marijean Going of Kingwood, Texas; her children, Stephanie Hughes of St. Petersburg, Richard Essman of Shallotte, N.C., Justus Essman of St. Petersburg, Fla., Bradley Essman of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Melissa Dunn of Lenoir; and her grandchildren, Brittany Hughes, Lauren Hughes, Ryan Essman, Alyssa Essman, Robert Aiden Jonkheer, Alex Essman, Jared Essman, Gage Essman, Jacob Essman, Samuel Essman, Whitney Essman, Chloe Dunn and Carolyne Dunn.
Joann departs this world having shared with all in her path the art of living, especially by exceeding other's expectations, abundant and gracious generosity, enthusiastic encouragement to live big, and finally, a gift of how to die.
A memorial service at Hendersonville will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 14, at Jump Off Rock in Laurel Park.

Clayton Charles Glenn
JONESBORO -- Clayton Charles Glenn, 76, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, April 11, 2006. He was a retired factory worker, an Air Force veteran and a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Iva Glenn, several children and grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Pine Log Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Friday in Gregg Funeral Home.
MARKED TREE -- Will Hendrix, 95, of Marked Tree died at home April 7, 2006. He was a self-employed lawn service businessman. He was a faithful member of Anderson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Hendrix.
Survivors include four sons, Alvin Hendrix of Saginaw, Mich., James Hendrix, Melvin Hendrix, both of Detroit, and Eddie Hendrix of Milwaukee; five daughters, Delois May of Chicago, Louise Bell of Detroit, and Willie Mae Love, Inez Mitchell and Helen Miles, all of Marked Tree; 63 grandchildren; 153 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday in Anderson Chapel with Eddie Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery at Marked Tree under the direction of Woodard Funeral Service.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Helen 'Grammy' Mead
WEINER -- Helen "Grammy" Owen Mead, 90, of Weiner died Tuesday night at her daughter's home in Weiner. Born at Roe, she was a lifelong resident of Weiner. She was a charter member of Weiner Christian Church and a retired beautician.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Barbara Mead of Batesville; a daughter and son-in-law, Leona and Jesse Gardner of Weiner; a brother, Leonard Owen of Italy, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Kenny, David, Todd, Kyle Gardner, Donna Massengil, Susan Cox, Cheryl Jackson, Helen Mead, Jeff Mead and Jeri Thomas; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, A.R. "Chub" Mead; a son, Donald Mead; five brothers; and her parents, Jim and Carrie Scott Owen.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Langford-Bookout Funeral Home with Tim Burgess officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at Weiner.
Her grandsons, Kenny Gardner, David Gardner, Todd Gardner, Kyle Gardner, Jeff Mead, Ryan Gardner, Blaine Gardner, Luke Massengil and Clint Cox will honor their grandmother by serving as pallbearers.
The Adult Sunday School class of Weiner Christian Church, Karen Green and Patricia McDaniel will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will be receiving friends 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Weiner Christian Church, Weiner Fire Department or Oak Grove Cemetery fund.
BUFFALO, Minn. -- Sophia Muse, 92, of Buffalo, Minn., died Tuesday in Buffalo.
She was the widow of Leroy Muse who died in 1992.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Amir Masoud Neshat
JONESBORO -- Amir Masoud "Mike" Neshat, 59, of Jonesboro died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Montclair, Calif.
Masoud was born in Tehran, Iran, on Aug. 5, 1946, to Seyed Mahmood Neshat and Azra Khodaverdi. He became a United States citizen in 1986.
He attended Alborz High School and upon graduation attended Lahore University in Pakistan earning his BSME degree. He then attended the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles earning his MSISE. Later, he attended Pepperdine University earning his MBA.
He worked for British Petroleum, FMC Corporation, Eaton Corporation, Thermador of Masco Corporation and was director of engineering for Douglas-Quikcut of Berkshire Hathaway Corp. He most recently served as vice president of business development and strategic planning for HTI Technology and Industries Corp.
He held 26 U.S. patents and was a member of the advisory council for Underwriters Laboratories from 1987-92.
He was of the Muslim faith, and was preceded in death by his father, Seyed Mahmood Neshat.
Survivors include his wife, Liane Neshat; two daughters, Ahzahdeh Suzan Neshat, age 16, and Ariana Yasmine Neshat, age 4, both of the home; one son, Armeen Mehran Neshat of the home; mother, Azra Khodaverdi of Tehran; two brothers, Sina Neshat and Mehran Neshat, both of Los Angeles; three nieces, Neda Neshat of Los Angeles, Tara Phelps Cubie of Princeton, N.J., and Laura Phelps of Detroit; and one great-niece, Paulina Cubie of Princeton.
A memorial service was held in Ontario, Calif., on Sunday at Riverside-Peterson Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Alma Hartwig Perry
LAKE CITY -- Alma Hartwig Perry, 81, of Lake City died Tuesday evening in St. Bernard's Medical Center at Jonesboro.
She was the daughter of Dr. Carl and Bess Hartwig of Lake City.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Bobby D. Pettit
NEWPORT -- Bobby D. Pettit, 67, of Newport died Wednesday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy C. and Ruth Ritter Pettit; and two brothers, Billy and Gerald Lewis Pettit.
He is survived by two brothers, Jimmy Pettit of Newport and Dale Pettit of Elkhart, Ind.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Watson Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Dillinger Funeral Home.
Terry Ray Plunkett
TRUMANN -- Terry Ray "TP" Plunkett, 30, of Bay died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Plunkett was born at Wynne, had lived in Bay for 21 years and was formerly of Trumann. Mr. Plunkett was an asphalt road worker and attended Calvary Baptist Church at Trumann.
Survivors include a daughter, Kelsey Michelle Plunkett of Leachville; his parents, James and Jenny Plunkett of Bay; one brother, Brian Anthony Plunkett of Bay; and maternal grandmother, Delena Mae Willcockson of Trumann. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, James Plunkett and Faye Goodwin; his maternal grandfather, Orville Willcockson; and two cousins, Samuel Curtis and Jerry Leon "Boss" Willcockson.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 14, at 1:30 p.m. in Thompson Funeral Home at Trumann with James Harold Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Tyronza Cemetery at Tyronza.
Active pallbearers will be Larry Knight, Gary Knight, Derek Bushong, Gary Bushong, Brock Wicker and Garry Sanders.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today in Thompson Funeral Home at Trumann.
