Mary Smith
Mary Ann Bratton Smith, 73, of Mulberry died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at a local hospital. She was a Baptist and the widow of Herb Smith.
She is survived by a sister, Tinnie Burcham of Alma; three brothers, James Bratton of De Soto, Iowa, Robert Bratton of Lamar, Mo., Johnny Bratton of Mulberry; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial service was held Sept. 17 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren. The body was cremated.

Marilyn Apker
Marilyn Apker, 74, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at a local hospital. She was a member of St. Michaelís Catholic Church, Altar Society and Van Buren Senior Inn. She was a volunteer at the Van Buren Train Depot and St. Edward Mercy Medical Center where she made bonnets for babies. She formerly worked with Compassionate Ministries and was the widow of James Apker.
Survivors include two sons, James Apker Jr. of Van Buren and Larry Apker of Muldrow; one sister, Maxine Campbell of Paulina, Iowa; one brother, Frank Heuer of Des Moines, Iowa; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Rosary was held Sept. 15 at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Funeral service was held Sept. 16 at St. Michaelís Catholic Church with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Chris Willet, Travis Apker, Larry Akins, Billy English, John Rice and Gerald Stewart Jr.

Dwain Rogers
Dwain Rogers, 48, of Mountainburg died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at a local hospital. He was a retired self-employed welding products salesman and a veteran of the Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of the home; one daughter, Natasha Hamilton of Mountainburg; one son, Ian Rogers of the home; his mother, Emma Rogers of Mountainburg; one brother, Kelly Rogers of Mountainburg; one granddaughter, Collette Ross of Mountainburg. He is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and friends.
Funeral service was held Oct. 6 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Conley Cemetery in Mountainburg under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Donnie Lasiter, Richard Krajewski, James Hamilton, David Hewitt, Dennis Brown and Ricky Teague. Honorary pallbearers were Zane Turner, Leonard, Jeff and Travis Teague.

Wanda Clark
Wanda Clark, 71, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at a local hospital. She was a retired certified nursing assistant for Medi-Homes Nursing Home in Fort Smith and the widow of William Clark.
She is survived by five daughters, Mary Boisvert and Stacie Wyninger, both of Mulberry, Barbara Vickers and Marsha Miller, both of Fort Smith, and Mildred Ross of Howe; a son, David Clark of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mildred Phillips of Rudy and Betty Lindsey of Cameron; a brother, Jimmy Roberson of Fort Smith; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Oct. 6 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Liberty Cemetery near Altus.
Pallbearers were Laramie Ross, Shawn Fowler, James Thompson, Brad Phillips, Howard Wilson, Kenny Wormke and Gerald Wyninger.

Rev. Robert Bodine
The Rev. Robert Bodine, 78, of Alma died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at a local hospital. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of the home; two daughters, Cathy Zuccharo of Van Buren and Linda Blaylock of Edmond, Okla.; six sons, Jimmy Bodine of Dyer, Bobby Bodine Jr. and Joey Bodine, both of Alma, Tommy McMellon of Greenwood, Ricky Bodine of Lavaca and David Bodine of Muldrow; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Oct. 5 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Woodlawn Memorial park in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were his sons. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ricky and Randy Highsmith, Tommy McMellon III, Josh Blaylock and Jason Bodine, and his brother-in-law, Bobby Harris.

Irene Daniel
Irene Dunn Daniel, 96, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at a local nursing home. She was born March 7, 1908. She was a member of Lee Creek Baptist Church, a homemaker and the widow of Connie Dunn and Danny Daniel.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Oak Cemetery Arbor in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a son, John Dunn of Bentonville; two sisters, Bea Clegg of Van Buren and Iola Whitmer of Camden; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren.

William Swindle
William G. ďBillĒ Swindle passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at the age of 79 at his home in Van Buren. He was born in Oakman, Ala., on Nov. 17, 1924.
Bill served in the United States Army and spent most of his life in sales. He was the past owner of the Van Buren Western Auto Store for 30 years. Prior to his illness, he was active in St. Michaelís Catholic Church, served on the board of directors of Peoples Bank, was a member of the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce and had been a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher since 1984 and was also a member of Van Buren Civil Service Commission and the Knights of Columbus. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris Swindle; his daughter, Phyllis Hedrick of Fort Smith and her husband, Joe Hedrick; two grandsons, Scott and Chris Hedrick, both of Fort Smith; two sisters, Geraldine Green and Mary Elizabeth Laurent; and a brother-in-law, Chalmers Laurent of Alabama.
Rosary was held at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel on Sept. 30. Funeral mass was celebrated Oct. 1 at St. Michaelís Catholic Church in Van Buren with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michaelís Catholic Church, 1025 Pointer Trail, Van Buren, AR 72956.
Pallbearers were Fines Batchelor, Paul Lennen, Jack Quinley, Arnie Bogner, R.L. Fox, Ed Knittig and Arville Stallings.

Diane Blount
Diane Davidson Blount, 55, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at a Fort Smith hospital. She was born Nov. 24, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas,.
Survivors include her husband, Lee Blount; stepmother, Bea Davidson of Granbury, Texas; brother, Donald Davidson of Dallas; two daughters, Jennifer Badeaux of New Orleans and Melissa Epler of Bentonville; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Oct. 2 at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Memorials contributijons may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Humane Society or a local animal shelter.

Glen Porter
Glen W. Porter, 81, of Van Buren died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at a local nursing home. He was an Army veteran and the retired owner and operator of Porterís Antiques.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jane Hurst of Van Buren; one son, Glen Greig Porter of Santa Fe, N.M.; one sister, Margaret Pulley of Sun City, Ariz.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Oct. 4 at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alm Funeral Home of Van Buren.
