Joseph M. Lipe

Joseph M. Lipe, 89, of Coalinga, Calif., died Sunday, Aug. 4, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Gravely and son of the late Marcellus and Amy Hunnicutt Lipe.

Survivors include his widow, Lois Hawkins Lipe; one daughter, Billie Martin of Clarksville; one son, Joe Allen Lipe of Morro Bay, Calif.; three sisters, Helen Harris of Paris, and Eula Hall and Sula Shock, both of North Little Rock; seven grandchildren, Kevin Prevett, Robert Prevett, and Chris Prevett, all of Clarksville, Donna Truran of Santa Maria, Calif., Judy Starr of Hanford, Calif., Sherri Middleton of Atoka, Okla., and Carolyn DeVasure of Turlock, Calif.; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated. Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Kimberly R. Kendall

Kimberly Renee Kendall, 37, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002.

She was a native of Oklahoma City, Okla., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orlie Kendall of Tulsa, Okla., graduate of William Woods College, and was self-employed as an interior designer.

Other survivors are one sister and brother-in-law, Marita and Mitchell Leos of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and two nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Graveside services and burial followed at 4 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Cemetery near Hartman. Arrangements were under the direction of The Fitzgerald Funeral Service.

Kathleen O'Neal

Kathleen Marie O'Neal, 78, of Clarksville died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.

She was a daughter of the late Shannon and Minnie Hill Toye, widow of Wylie N. O'Neal, and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Grace Parker of Flat Rock; two nieces, Wynonna Powers of California and Barbara Bradburn of Florida; one nephew, Larry Ivey of California; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the East Point Cemetery at London with Rev. Carl Sory officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Molly Clinebell Beal

Molly Jean Clinebell Beal, 38, of Rowlett, Texas, a native of Anaheim, Calif., died Tuesday, July 30, 2002.

She was a 1982 graduate of Clarksville High School, superintendent of the Beginners Department at New Liberty Baptist Church where she was an active member for the last 17 years, taught dance at Rowlett Dance Academy, a band booster of the Rowlett Eagle Band, and was active in the PTA at Herfurth and Schrade schools.

Survivors are two children, James Matthew, 15, and Meagan Elizabeth, 13, and their father, James Beal, all of Rowlett, Texas; mother, Phyllis Jean Clinebell of Rowlett, Texas; father John V. Clinebell of Russellville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John M. and Sharon Clinebell of Greeley, Colo., and Gregory S. and Terri Clinebell of Clarksville; two sisters-in-law and spouses, Laura and Steve Thulis of Clarksville and Mary and Jay Cannon of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother-in-law and spouse, Ralph and Ann Beal; nieces and nephews, Amanda Rose Clinebell of Clarksville, Kim, Annie and Greg Thulis of Clarksville, David Cannon of Atlanta, Ga., and Christie and Angie Beal; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at New Liberty Baptist Church with burial at Restland Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Williams Funeral Directors of Garland, Texas.

Marie Dougan

Marie Dougan, 88, of Clarksville died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.

She was a native of Johnson County, daughter of the late Ed and Mary Geisler Turner, widow of Carl Dougan, member of the Union Grove Baptist Church and the Sulphur Springs Extension Homemakers Club, and was preceded in death by four brothers, George Turner, Ferrell Turner, Q. B. Turner, and Virgil Baskin.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Steve Griffin of Hartman and Barbara and Don Phillips of Alix; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Claud and Becky Dougan, Fred and Marlene Dougan, and Don Dougan, all of Clarksville; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Blackard of Tahlequah, Okla., and Frances Baskin of Clarksville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Horne officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Cheyne Dougan, Jeff Dougan, Mark Griffin, Truman Phillips, Fred Phillips, David Phillips, and Joe Dougan.

Honorary pallbearers were Aulda Meek, Katherine Garrett, Lois McCarley, Ann Warren, and Mamie Laster.

Merle M. Jacobs

Merle M. Jacobs, 91, of Hunt died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Paris.

She was a retired U. S. postmaster at Hunt, member of Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church at Hunt, Order of Eastern Star and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was a daughter of the late L. E. and Emma Teasdale Noe, widow of Argus M. Jacobs, and was preceded in death by one son, Phillip M. Jacobs; two sisters, Louise Kitchens and Loraine Thorton; and one brother, Robert Noe.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph R. Jacobs of Alexander and E. L. Jacobs of Paris; one sister, Gladys Douglas of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Lewis Noe and A. P. Noe, both of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Eddie L. Jacobs of Fairfax, Va., Edye L. White of Paris, Joseph Jacobs Jr. of Mandeville, La., and Jill Lewis of Alexander; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church at Hunt with Rev. Burley King officiating.

Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.

Active pallbearers were Harley Parker, Vernon Jones, Mike Jacobs, Jon Newton, Jamie Ledbetter and Donnie Davidson.

Honorary pallbearer was Phillip Truman Jacobs.

Memorials may be made to the Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church or Liberty Hill Cemetery Association at Hunt.

Glen F. Chavers

Glen F. Chavers, 70, of Knoxville died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at his home.

He was a native of Lamar, son of the late Marion C. and Nora Jane Freeman Chavers, member of Bethel Baptist Church at Knoxville, lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Post No. 62 and Order of Purple Heart, and retired employee of the Arkansas Highway Department after 27 years of service.

Survivors include his widow, Martha Chavers; two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Teri Chavers and Glen and Melissa Chavers, all of Lamar; one sister, Imogene Hunt of Clarksville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Brown officiating.

Burial was in Knoxville Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Bob Nichols, Matthew Nichols, Jody Storms, Timmy Storms, Jerry Williams, and Andy May.

Honorary pallbearers were Janie Silvia, Johnny Rice, Andrew Brightman, Nelson Chavers, Ab Reynolds, and Duane Childers.

Irene L. Tompkins

Irene L. Tompkins, 67, of Clarksville died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.

She was a native of Detroit, Mich., daughter of the late Charles C. and Minnie Lauderdale Tompkins, member of the Catholic Church, former employee of Tyson Foods, Inc., and was preceded in death by one brother, Charles G. Tompkins.

She had no immediate survivors.

The body was cremated. Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the Sacred Heart Cemetery with Father William Wewers officiating.
