Mathal May

PARAGOULD -- Mathal Stella May, 92, of Paragould died Friday, June 23, 2006, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 12, 1913, in Stanford, the daughter of the late Jodie and Myrtle Gramling. She was a retired Stanley Home Products Dealer, owner of M & M Ceramics and a member of Stanford United Methodist Church.

Mathal's husband, Carroll Thomas May, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Jodie Gramling May of Paragould and Tommie May of Jonesboro; a daughter, Mary Ellen Corthell of Horseshoe, N.C.; brother, Lewis Crowley of Florissant, Mo.; sister Floretta Fennessey of Ferguson, Mo.; grandchildren, Mark and Darren May, Allan, Jeff, Web and Tabitha Corthell; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Marion Gramling officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Warren's Chapel Cemetery.

The grandchildren will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be sent to the Warren's Chapel Cemetery Fund.

Herbert Palmer

PARAGOULD -- Herbert Eugene "Gene" Palmer, age 77, of Paragould passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2006, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Palmer was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a lifetime member of VFW 2242, a member of Paragould Masonic Lodge No. 368 and of TREA. He was retired from Monroe Auto Equipment, was the former owner of Freedom Lock and Key and a member of Greater Vision Ministries Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Palmer; his parents, William and Isla Palmer; one son, Richard Mason; one daughter, Bonnie Drennen; two brothers, Franklin B. and Garland; and one great-grandson, Levi Babcock.

He is survived by three sons, Steve and wife, Barbara Mason of Rogers, Charles and wife, Patty Palmer and Patrick Palmer, all of Paragould; two daughters, Leta and husband Craig Rosten and Robin Palmer, both of Paragould; one brother, Calvin Palmer of Blanchard, Idaho; one sister, Joyce Keeney of Corcoran, Calif.; extended family, Sue Mason, Paulette Gray, Jim Drennen and Kim Palmer; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 25, from 6-9 p.m. at Greater Vision Church, 1004 South Rockingchair Road in Paragould.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 26, at 11 a.m. at the church with Bro. Rick Ethridge officiating. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens with military honors. His grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorials be made to Greater Vision Ministries or the American Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.

Christopher Ring

POCAHONTAS -- Christopher Allen Ring, 43, died Wednesday at Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis as the result of an automobile accident of June 10, 2006. He was a disabled road construction worker and had lived in Maynard most of his life.

He is survived by a son, Cain Allen Ring of Harrison; parents, Paul and Louise Ring of Pocahontas; brothers, Kenneth Ring of Warm Springs and Ronnie Ring of Buffalo Junction, Va.; a sister, Donna Hills of Zebulon, N.C.; a niece, Pamela Roberts of Dawnsonville, Ga.; along with several other nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral home at Walnut Ridge. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers include Kenneth Ring, Ronnie Ring, Ken Ring, Jr., Scott Ring, James Smith and Dan Brown.

Harold Rushing

NEWPORT -- Harold Rushing, 72, of Newport died Thursday.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Rushing; one son, Mike Rushing and wife Linda; one stepson, Tim Thompson; two daughters, Donna Blalock and husband Kevin and Karen Maples and husband Martin; two stepdaughters, Angie Taylor and husband Paul and Tammy Walter and husband Larry; two brothers, James Rushing and wife Dorothy and Walter Rushing and wife Betty; one sister, Ruby Breedlove; 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral is at 2 today at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment is at Watson Cemetery.

Rebecca Staples

PIGGOTT -- Rebecca Lorene Haywood Staples, 81, of Piggott passed away Friday, June 23, 2006, at the Med Center in Memphis.

She is survived by three children, Dorenda Hanna and husband, Johnny, Frank Staples and wife, Donna and Ricky Staples; two granddaughters, two grandsons, five great-grandchildren, four stepgreat-grandchildren, five sisters; and four brothers.

Services will be Sunday, June 25, at 2 p.m. in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel. Burial will be in Piggott Cemetery.

Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will begin at 6 tonight at the funeral home.

Marion Weitkamp

POCAHONTAS -- Marion Zennia Weitkamp, 89, died Friday.

Her husband, Clarence, and a brother, Leo Cranford, preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, William Weitkamp of Florissant, Mo.; a daughter, Joyce Loggains of Biggers; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Randolph Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 at McNabb Funeral Home.

Rush Baker

POCAHONTAS -- Rush Baker, 96, of Pocahontas died Sunday, July 2, 2006.

Survivors include his wife, Jewell Baker; daughter, Eunice James of Pocahontas; grandson, Ronald Dulgar of Ravenden Springs; great-grandsons, Ronnie Dulgar Jr. of Jonesboro and Rodney Dulgar of Ravenden Springs; great-great-grandson, Hayden Dulgar of Jonesboro; brothers, Huey Baker and Philip Baker; and four sisters, Verneta Kerley, Gladys Daniels, Reba Swearengen and Virginia Waggner.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cox-Waymon Funeral Home Chapel with intermenty in Masonic Cemetery at Pocahontas.

Visitation is from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Eircell Viola Blevins

WYNNE -- Eircell Viola Creasey Blevins, 81, of Wynne died Sunday, July 2, 2006, in Wynne Healthcare Center. She was born March 11, 1925 at Alicia.

She is preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Blevins; parents, Claude and Ethel Hawks Creasey; son, Floyd Blevins; and daughter, Carol Blevins.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Winston, Barbara Payne and Patsy Roberts; one sister; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. today in Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Wynne Chapel. Interment is at Woodlawn Cemetery in McCrory.

Visitation is from noon-2 p.m. today in the funeral home.

David Bruce Bostian

BIXBY, Okla. -- David Bruce Bostian, 57, of Bixby, Okla., died July 1, 2006, in his home. He was born March 23, 1949, at Fayetteville, the son of David Bostian and Mary Mason Bostian.

Survivors include many relatives in the Hardy area.

Graveside services are 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hardy Cemetery with Johnny Carter officiating. Arrangements are by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

No visitation is planned.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for colon cancer research or The First United Methodist Church Care Center of Bixby, Okla., or the Piano Fund.

Angela Marie Burnside

HOXIE -- Angela Marie Burnside, 39, of Hoxie passed away Monday morning in Lawrence Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness.

Born June 2, 1967, at Los Angeles, Calif., she was a Catholic, an administrative assistant and a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Todd Burnside of the home; three sons, Michael Lawrence of Oceanside, Calif., Mark Lawrence and Matthew Burnside, both of the home; her father and stepmother George and Laurie Hernandez of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; her mother and stepfather, Mary Catherine and Scott Brooks of Escondido, Calif.; three brothers, George Hernandez of Houston, Texas, Michael Hernandez of Riverside, Calif., and Steven Hernandez of Hawaii; an Uncle, Arthur Piscitelli of Albion, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services are incomplete and will be announced later by the Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.

Ruth Ann Cox

WICHITA, Kan. -- Ruth Ann Cox, 70, died at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan., on Saturday, July 1, 2006.

Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced by House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Cletus Lavern Estes

BIG FLAT -- Cletus Lavern Estes, 57, of Big Flat died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at Little Rock. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and was a veteran of the Army.

He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Ranee Estes; three brothers, Robert Estes of Swifton, and Gary Estes and Clois Estes both of Cash; three sisters, Faye Parker of Bono, Linda Parker of Jonesboro and Earlene Carr of Cash; five grandchildren; six nephews and seven nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Velma Estes, and a sister, Iva Elizabeth Prater.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Mike Glover officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Barry Priest, Gary Dunham, Wayne Clayton, Andy Reid, Rick Stevens and Ronald Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Farrell Parker, Jeff Estes, Bub Stevens, Bobby Joe Hines, Anthony Estes, Bobby Carr and Clayton Stevens.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
