CORNING — Dennis McFarlin, 55, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, in Corning.
He was a veteran and member of Grassylead Church of Christ in Corning.
Survivors include a son, Bryan McFarlin; brothers, Sidney McFarlin of Corning, Larry Darr of Jonesboro, Leonard Darr and Kenny Darr, both of Mountain Home; and sisters, Norma Jo White of Corning and Mary Pelts of Mountain Home.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Corning Cemetery
under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home of Corning.
CARDWELL, Mo. — Richard Miller, of Cardwell, Mo., died Tuesday at his residence.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Gladys Myracle Miller; two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Johnson Skelton Miller; sons, Charles Anthony Miller and wife, Shelia, and Andrew Stonewall Miller; daughters, Bridgett Curtis and husband, Paul, and Cindy DeWitt and husband, Bill; sisters, Betty Tolley, Mary Lou Jackson, Margaret Ann Corwin; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be this evening from 6:30-8 in Heath Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Cardwell Cemetery.
WYNNE — Cleveland Morris, 76, of Wynne died Sunday at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Viney Morris of Jonesboro; sons, Alphonso Adams of Mattson, Ill., Gary, Wayne and Cleveland Morris, all of Chicago, and Dwight Riley of Jonesboro; daughters, Terry Bushell of Atlanta, Debra Kay Morris of Chicago and Nikki Woods of Jonesboro; sister, Thelma Walker of Colt; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday in Woodard Funeral Services Chapel at Wynne.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday in the chapel.

CAMPBELL, Mo. — Keith L. Skaggs, 44, of Campbell, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Campbell.
Survivors include four children, Brandy, Caleb, Michael Ray, and Sissy; his grandson, Levi; his parents, Ragie and Marie Turner of Campbell; his sisters, Sandy Morris of Clarkton, Mo., and Sherry Burrow of Malden, Mo.; three brothers, Ross Skaggs of Qulin, Mo., Michael Skaggs of Greenville, Mo., and Sherman Skaggs of Campbell.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Nimmons Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of arrangements.
Mattie Lucille Buffum
POCAHONTAS — Mattie Lucille Buffum, 100, passed away Friday, Aug. 29, at Five Rivers Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 25, 1907, at Black Rock to the late Samuel H. East and Amelia Sullivan.
Her husband, Bill Buffum, preceded her in death, along with one brother, Wilson East, and four sisters, Lela Pope, Mary Bentley, Thelma Hulett and Jessie Denton.
Survivors include her two nieces, Phyliss Risner of West Plains, Mo., and Marjorie Parr of Owensboro, Ky.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in McNabb Funeral Home Chapel. Committal will be held at 3 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery
at Mammoth Spring with Nelson Henderson officiating.
Pallbearers will include James Anderson, Ronnie Radcliff, Johny Sago, Les McPherson, Eldred Hon and Kirby Riffel.
Visitation will be Monday from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home.
BLYTHEVILLE — Mrs. Dorothy Chun, 87, of Blytheville died Thursday, Aug. 28, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
She was a longtime resident of Blytheville, a homemaker and member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She leaves three daughters, Patricia Gail Hayslip of Provo, Utah, Janice DeMott of Jonesboro and Donna Kelley of Steele, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Janie Chun of Blytheville; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery
at Blytheville with visitation from 1-2 before services in Cobb Funeral Home.

CAVE CITY — Nina Ruth Cobb, 92, of Cave City died Tuesday at St. Louis.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Baker of St. Louis; sisters, Pauline Christenberry of Cave City and Jean Brock of Concord; grandson, Glenn Baker of St. Louis; granddaughter, Mary Ann O’Connor; and great-grandson, Timothy O’Connor, both of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Cobb; parents, Homer and Cecil Mobley; a brother and sister.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Qualls Cave City Funeral Home with burial in Mount View Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 4-6 p.m.
MAYNARD — Edith Ellis, 87, of Maynard passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at Paragould.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Ellis of Maynard; six children, Charles Ellis of Durand, Mich., Alvin O. Ellis of Doniphan, Mo., Robert Ellis of Swartz Creek, Mich., Martha Grantham of Crossett, Aileen Tallman of Maynard and Gearld Ellis of Weston, Ohio.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Al Feezor officiating and burial in New Hope Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be Sunday at 6 p.m.
Virginia Edna Meredith
HARRISBURG — Mrs. Virginia Edna Meredith, a lifetime resident of Harrisburg, departed this life Friday morning, Aug. 29, at her home at the age of 89.
She was born May 5, 1919, in Missouri, the daughter of Virgil W. and Ellen Perrigan Hoosier. She was a homemaker and many years ago had worked in the theater downtown and for Griffin Funeral Home.
She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Harrisburg and loved embroidering, crocheting and working with flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wendell Meredith; one brother; and four sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Edna Mathis of Harrisburg and Joyce Ann Morrison of Bay; brother, Norm Hoosier of Granite City, Ill.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday in Weston Funeral Service Chapel at Harrisburg. Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday evening from 5-7 and Sunday from noon until service time.
LITTLE ROCK — Herman Powell, 82 of Little Rock, formerly of Lake City and Caraway, passed away at St. Vincent’s Hospital Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008.
Herman was born in Enola to George and Edna Bell Powell. He attended school in Lake City and Caraway. He graduated from Caraway High School in 1943 and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Herman has been in a veterans’ hospital for 50 years. He had a deep sense of religious convictions and always prayed for each friend by name.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Leon Blackshear of Tupelo, Miss., and a host of nieces and nephews.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leo Powell.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery
with the Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Langford-Bookout Funeral Home assisted the family with these arrangements.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon today at the funeral home.

CHEROKEE VILLAGE — Bernard Robinson, 85, of Cherokee Village died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, in the Fulton County Hospital at Salem.
He was retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller. He served in the Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Natalie Robinson.
A memorial service will be held Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at Cherokee Village with the Rev. Joan Ewaldsen officiating. Arrangements are by Heath Funeral Home, Oak Hill Chapel in Highland.
