Louis Guthrie

NEWARK — Louis Guthrie, 32, of Newark died Sunday.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Martha McGee Guthrie; and grandmother Annabell McGee.

Survivors include his brothers, Terry, Freddy and Phillip Guthrie, all of Nebraska; sisters, Dezirae Jobe of Newark and Crystal Guthrie Eaton of Little Rock; two nephews, Landon Clark and Brandon Guthrie of Newark; and two nieces, Lanie and Latasha Eaten of Beebe.

Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Blue Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-8.

Arrangements are by Dillinger Funeral Home.

Louise Moore

SEDGWICK — Louise Moore, 83, died Tuesday in Jonesboro.

Survivors include a son, Herbert Moore; grandchildren, Mica Dunn and Phillip Moore; brother, Curt Veal; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in House-Greg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge with Thomas Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in Old military Cemetery at Sedgwick.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Lasting memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis 38105, or Legacy Hospice, 1056 First Ave., Walnut Ridge 72476.

John Shinault

BLYTHEVILLE — John Shinault, 76, of Blytheville, died Monday.

He leaves his wife, Juanice Larue Shinault of Blytheville; daughter, Judy Shinault of Mississippi; sons, Dennis Shinault of Kentucky and John Shinault Jr. of Texas; stepdaughter, Lisa Marks of Jonesboro; brothers, J.W. Shinault of Missouri and Eugene Shinault of Kentucky; sisters, Pauline Hallock and Geraldine “Pumpkin” Jolly of Georgia, Jeffie Hewlitt of Michigan and Violet Rose Cunningham of Ash Flat; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home at Blytheville with visitation from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home.

Pearl Simmons

JONESBORO — Pearl Simmons, 59, of Jonesboro died Sunday, Aug. 31, at Jonesboro Healthcare.

Pearl was employed by St. Bernards as a sterile technician. She loved fishing and visiting rummage sales. She was a Baptist by faith.

Survivors include her son, Alonzo Simmons of Jonesboro; daughter, Sherry Shelton of Jonesboro; sisters, Onita Clark, Ernestine Clark, Doris Richardson and Dorothy Hampton, all of Jonesboro, Barbara Farmer and Dollie Slater, both of Augusta, and Effolor Jackson of Searcy; brothers, Earvin Clark, Shelby Clark and Emmanuel Clark, all of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Grace Chapel of Woodard Funeral Service with the Rev. Arthur Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Quiet Cemetery at Augusta.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Jatylene Jashua Stevenson

JONESBORO — Jatylene Jashua Stevenson, newborn son of James Stevenson and Shaquela Anderson, both of Jonesboro, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Great Rivers Medical Center in Blytheville.

He is also survived by a brother, Jameyon Stevenson of Jonesboro; grandparents, Angela Simmons and Stephan Simmons, both of Jonesboro; James Stevenson and Wendy Stevenson, both of Tulsa, Okla., and Sheila Partee of Blytheville; and great-grandparents, John and Bobbie Fisher of Blytheville.

Graveside services will be today at 2 p.m. in Memory Gardens Cemetery-Babyland at Blytheville under the direction of Wilson’s Blytheville Funeral Home.

Vada K. Stubblefield

POCAHONTAS — Vada K. Stubblefield, 105, passed away Tuesday at Five Rivers Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 9, 1903, at Dalton to the late Albert and Tola Kirkpatrick.

Her husband, J. Hite Stubblefield, preceded her in death, along with a grandson, Anthony N. Stubblefield; a daughter-in-law, Betty N. Stubblefield; a son-in-law, Robert W. Jones; a brother, Perry Kirkpatrick; and sister, Nadine Barnett.

Survivors include her daughter, Iverne Jones and son, Perry H. Stubblefield, both of Pocahontas; one grandson, John R. Stubblefield of Pocahontas; two great-granddaughters, Meredith Sanantonio of Orlando, Fla., and Emily Tipton of Hot Springs. Survivors also include four great-great-grandsons.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in McNabb Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Masonic Cemetery. Robert Norvell will officiate.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8.

Doris Ann Arnold

TRUMANN — Doris Ann Arnold, 60, of Trumann died Wednesday evening, Sept. 3, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center at Jonesboro.

Mrs. Arnold was born at Dyess and lived in the Trumann area her whole life. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Arnold Sr.; her father, Roy Willbanks; and a son-in-law, Jim Parker.

Survivors include four daughters, Kim Watkins, Amanda Smith, Lora Parker and Kim Easter, all of Trumann; two sons, Shannon Watkins and Bobby Arnold Jr., both of Trumann; her mother, Mrs. Ruby Willbanks of Harrisburg; three brothers, Ronald Willbanks of Ravenden Springs, Larry Willbanks and Bobby Willbanks, both of Trumann; three sisters, Margaret Davis and Mary Barnes, both of Harrisburg, and Betty Arnold of Trumann; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be tonight at 7 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home at Trumann with the Rev. Gary Brown officiating. Burial will be private.

Visitation will be tonight from 5-7 in Thompson Funeral Home.

Garland Harold Battle

JONESBORO — Garland Harold Battle, 60, of Jonesboro died Monday at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Tuckerman, he was the son of the late Lee Troy and Ruby Watkins Battle.

Battle was a graduate of Tuckerman High School in 1966 and Arkansas A&M College, Pine Bluff, in 1970. He was retired from the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Battle of Jonesboro; one son, Corwin “Corey” Battle of Hope; one sister, Ruby Mae Battle of Newport; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Greater Morning Star Baptist Church at Newport with the Rev. Kenneth Fitz officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Craft Funeral Service of Newport.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-7:30 at the funeral home.

Alfred Baugh

BLYTHEVILLE — Alfred Baugh, 88, of Blytheville died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center in Osceola.

Born at Caraway, the son of the late Charley and Minnie Cole Baugh, he was a graduate of the Auto Mechanic School at Hartford, Conn. He was a retired farm worker and owner-operator of Baugh Lawn Mowing Service, member of Dogwood Church of Christ and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather who always put his family first in his life. He enjoyed the companionship of his dog Billie and working outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Allen Baugh, and a granddaughter, Christie Baugh Calabrese.

Mr. Baugh leaves his wife of 69 years, Ruth Alene Sherrill Baugh of the home; his children, Faye Stewart and her husband Tim of Walcott, retired 1st Sgt. James F. Baugh of Stedman, N.C., retired 1st Sgt. Harold D. Baugh and his wife Elizabeth of Germany, Jean and Travis Tyler of Hattieville, Jerry Robert Baugh and his wife Cindy of Sevierville, Tenn., Freddy Wayne Baugh and his wife Petra of Blytheville, and Susan Baugh of Gosnell; 16 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; and his dog Billie, his best friend.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel at Blytheville with Fred Baugh officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Mount Zion Cemetery at Walcott.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 tonight in the funeral home.

Patrick Eugene Colquitt

JONESBORO — Memorial services for 30-year-old Patrick Eugene Colquitt of Jonesboro, who died Aug. 26 at his home, will be this evening from 7-8 in Johnson Funeral Home Wynne Chapel.

Visitation will be from 6-7 before services at the funeral home.

Burial will be Saturday, Sept. 6, at noon in Mount Zion Cemetery at Ogmoe.

Survivors include his son, Darrius Strong Colquitt of Jacksonville; mother, Barbara Besk of Parkin; father, Huey P. Burnell of McNeil; brother, Kelvin Colquitt of Parkin; and sister, Denise Colquitt of Parkin.

Winfred G. Drury

FORREST CITY — Winfred G. “Budd” Drury, 65, of Forrest City died Wednesday, Sept. 3, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He had been in the hospital for the past week.

Mr. Drury was born Sept. 29, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Winfred Nelson Drury and Jeanette Eldora Simms Drury. He moved to Forrest City in 1969, was a veteran of the Air Force and a retired communication technician for Arkla.

Mr. Drury is survived by one son, Winfred Alan Drury of Groveport, Ohio; two daughters, Melissa Swanson of Jonesboro and Angela Humphries of Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and one brother, William S. Drury of Groveport.

Services for Mr. Drury will be held in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Monday with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery and Stevens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-8 at the funeral home.
