She was born in Jackson County near Hickory Ridge April 5, 1912. She held many job titles in her lifetime: farm worker, factory worker, cook and janitor at schools, homemaker. But her best remembered title was “Mom” to four children.
She left behind one son, Walter E. Newby of Wynne, AR; three daughters, Jean Stephens of Naples, Fla., Daisy (Dixie) McFarlin of Cabot and Carol Hutson of Marion, Ill.; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren., and a host of neices, nephews and old friends as well as new ones. One’s life cannot be summed up in a few paragraphs. Neither does it end at the moment of one’s death. We take nothing with us and leave behind seeds that continue to grow through those lives we touched. There will be something of Mom in all of us who knew her. She lives on through her children and forever with the Lord.
