HAZEL ANICE JOHNS LARGENT
Mrs. Hazel Anice (Johns) Largent, 87, of Tuckerman, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 in Searcy. She was born Oct. 4, 1915 in Viola, the daughter of Melvin and Arrie Cecil Johns.
Mrs. Largent was a homemaker and a mother. She was a member of the Tuckerman Church of Christ. Mrs. Largent enjoyed being with her children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Largent; one brother, Rex Johns; and three sisters, Gertrude Dye, Ruby Holms and Grace Smith.
Mrs. Largent is survived by two daughters, Sandra Jacobs of Jacksonville, Fla. and Gayle Bailey of Tuckerman; three brothers, James "Blue Jay" Johns of Tuckerman, M. L. Johns of Searcy and Ray Johns of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Billie Stacy of Newport; four grandchildren, Leslie Jacobs Mallard, Jeff Jacobs, Jim Bailey, Jr., and Susan Bailey; and two great-grandchildren, Allison Mallard and Caroline Mallard.
Visitation will be from6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Tuckerman Church of Christ with Burl Young officiating. Interment will be at Gracelawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Bailey, Jr., Jeff Jacobs, Brian Jacobs, Ricky Johns, James Young, Tommy Young and Ronald "Tuffy" Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewey Henderson, Elwood Fisher, Edward "Junior" Pretty, R. W. Slayton and Don Shelton.

VERA CRATEN LONG RUNYON
Mrs. Vera Craten Long Runyon, 91, of Tupelo died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 at Newport Hospital. She was born July 5, 1912 in Texas, the daughter of the late Cas and Mattie Weatherford Long.
Mrs. Runyon was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dellie Runyon; three sons, D.R. Runyon, Junior Runyon and Billy Runyon; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Mrs. Runyon is survived by three sons, Truman Runyon, Jacky Runyon and Doyle Runyon, all of Tupelo; four daughters, Syble Simpson and Lou Park, all of Newport, and Ann Davis and Brenda Jackson, all of Tupelo; one sister, Mattie Gann of Covington, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Tupelo Assembly of God Church with Bro. Earl Cover and Bro. Claude Gibbs, officiating. Interment will be at Sand Hill.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Runyon, Ricky Simpson, Jimmy Simpson, Dale Jackson, Dwayne Runyon and Dennis Runyon. Chris Runyon, Jeremy Runyon and Jason Runyon will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Carrie Lee Robertson
Carrie Lee Robertson, 89, of Oil Trough, died Nov. 30, 2003 in Newport. Mrs. Robertson was born July 13, 1914 in Oil Trough, the daughter of Grover Cleveland Burrow and Sadie Vandriver Burrow. She was a homemaker and a member of Blackland Baptist Church.
Mrs. Robertson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Bernard Guy Robertson and one sister; Lucy Smith. She is survived by three sons; Talmadge Glen Robertson of Phoenix City, Ala., Billy Joe Robertson and Henry Robertson, both of Oil Trough and one daughter; Berna Dean Hooper of Rosie, twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at the Dillinger Chapel with Gaylord Huckaba officiating. Interment will be at Maple Springs Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Brian Robertson, Sean Robertson, Talmadge Robertson, B.J. Robertson, Lonnie Robertson, and Harold Hooper.

Diane McDoniel
Diane McDoniel of Batesville died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003 in Little Rock. Ms. McDoniel was born April 2, 1950 in Morrilton, the daughter of Hardin and Imogene Bridgeman. She was a licensed practical nurse at the Arkansas Dept. of Corrections-Grimes Unit in Newport. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Ms. McDoniel was preceded in death by her mother. She is survivied by her father, two sons Kevin McDoniel of Batesville and Brian McDoniel of Supher Rock, a brother Don Bridgeman of Batesville, and two grandchildren Colby McDoniel and Ryan McDoniel.
Services will be held Friday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. in the Roller-Crough Chapel. Ralph Willis will officiate. Burial will be at Mac's Chapel in Sulpher Rock. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Murphy, Greg Gates, Hugh magness, Terry Keena, Ernie Pectol, and Wallace McDoniel. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Miesner and Eric McElrath.

ANNA LOUISE BURNS
Anna Louise Burns of Tuckerman died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003 in Newport. Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her husband Richard Burns, Jr. and her son Jason Hudson. She is survived by Yvonne Hearton, Scott E. Scott and Kimberly Richards.
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 25, 003 at 11 a.m. at the Tlerson and Sonn Chapel.

LEAHMAN SMITH
Leahman Smith, Jr., 77, of Newport, formerly of Pocahontas, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003.
He was born Feb. 22, 1926 in Randolph County, the son of John and Iva Ann (Morris) Smith.
He married Miss Faye Brown on January 18, 1947.
Mr. Smith was owner and operator of Smith Concrete Products, where he manufactured concrete blocks.
He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and served on the Newport City Board.
He was a member of the Newport Country Club Greens Committee, Bass Association, and member and past president of the Young Businessman's Club. Mr. Smith was a World War II United States Army veteran, and a member of the VFW and American Legion.
He was an avid golfer who had a natural ability for the sport.
His greatest hobby was fishing, and he also enjoyed hunting and being outdoors.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Smith.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Faye (Brown) Smith; one nephew, Lawrence Smith; one sister-in-law, Mary Smith; nieces and nephews who adopted their Uncle Lehman as a second father and grandfather, Hoyt Alan Brown, Cassey Brown Crouch, Andy Crouch, and Cara Crouch.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Father John Childress officiating. Interment was in Randolph County Memorial Garden Cemetery at Pocahontas. Visitation was Tuesday, 5-7 p.m.
Pallbearers were Johnny Hillis, Dennis Wayne Brown, Floyd Lee Brown, Bill Wooten, Jerry Lane, and Raymond Bradley.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Round Table Coffee Drinkers.

MARVIN E. SMITH
Marvin E. Smith, 76, of Swifton died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003 at Swifton.
He was born Aug. 24, 1927 in Swifton the son of Homer P. and Vena (Wilcox) Smith.
Mr. Smith worked at The Federal Aviation Administration where he was as a computer technician.
He was a member of the Swifton Church of Christ and a World War II Navy veteran.
Mr. Smith enjoyed fishing, hunting, craftwork, playing on the computer and being with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Monie (Reeves) Smith; his parents, two brothers, J. P. Smith and Jerry Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Mary K. Smith of Swifton; two step-sons, Robert Templeton of Swifton and David Templeton of St. Petersburg, Fla. two daughters, Mary Casoli and Donna Hammons both of South Haven, Miss.; two brothers, Ben Smith of Jonesboro, and Shelby Smith of Houston, Texas; one sister, Ann James of Swifton; three grandsons, Chad Hammons, Caleb Hammons and Michael Casoli; two granddaughters, Kim Ambroceni and Chelsea Hammons; one great-granddaughter, Mariella Ambroceni; four step-grandsons, Adam King, Brian Templeton, Nicholas Templeton and Clint Foster; one step-granddaughter, Kristen Thielemier and one step-great-grandson, Tate Thielemier.
Funeral service were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 at the Swifton Church of Christ with Mr. Darrell Douglas and Mr. Todd Rabalais officiating. Interment was in Arnold Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chad Hammons, Caleb Hammons, Michael Casoli, Brian Templeton, Nicholas Templeton, Clint Foster, Adam King and Kevin Thielemier.

BILLY DALE SMITH
Billy Dale Smith, 72, of Tuckerman died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003 at Searcy.
Mr. Smith was born Jan. 4, 1931 at Shelbyville, the son of Ray and Wilma (Rose) Smith.
He retired from the Ever Corporation after forty-five years, and was currently working for BBT Tamale.
Mr. Smith was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Tuckerman, where he was also a Deacon and taught Sunday School. He was a United States Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Smith loved to play with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and coached little league baseball for years. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Beatrice (Light) Smith of Tuckerman; two sons, Gregory Dale Smith of Wynne and Joel Matthew Smith of New Orleans, La.; one daughter, Lisa Riley of Tuckerman; three brothers, Corbet Smith of Greers Ferry, Don Smith of Searcy and Joe Smith of Marion, Ind.; one sister, Nadene Brewer of Memphis, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Amanda Fortenberry of Tuckerman, Brynn Riley of Tuckerman, Jessica Smith, Jeremy Smith, Kate Smith, and Kelsey Smith, all of Wynne; and two great grandchildren, Jamison Clark and Noah Riley, both of Tuckerman.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Tuckerman with Bro. David Winfrey officiating. Interment was in Gracelawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Combs, Chuck Fortenberry, Michael Shipman, Doug Stapleton, Kenny Bible, and Leslie Roberts. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Hibbard and Loman Johnson.

JESS ELLIOTT
Mr. Jess Elliott, 81, of Newport died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003.
Mr. Elliott was born Feb. 5, 1922 in Melbourne, the son of Jim and Minnie (Brooks) Elliott.
He was retired from the railroad and Mobley Construction and was a member of the Church of God in Newport.
Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Elliott and John Elliott; two sisters, Anna Lee Carey and Eula Hohn.
He is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Shah of Lodi, Calif., Peggy Sue Griffith of Newport, Wilma Lee Smith of Newport, and Sheila Ischinger of Orville, Calif.; two sisters, Ola Marie Hunt of Yakima, Wash. and June Reid of Wenatchee, Wash.; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1 at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Calvin Querry officiating. Interment was at Watson Cemetery.

SHEILA DORIS KELLY
Sheila Doris Kelly, 68, of Searcy, formerly of Newport died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003.

VERA MAE HOWARD
Vera Mae Howard, 84, of Newport died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003.
Mrs. Howard was born May 16, 1919 in Swifton, the daughter of O. D. and Ethel Mae (Hatfield) Mitts. Retiring in 1975, Mrs. Howard was a machine operator for twenty-one years for the General Motors Corporation in Flint, Mich.
She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Newport and enjoyed gardening and reading her Bible.
Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by one sister, Lula Bell Jones and one stepbrother, Ernest Kendricks. She is survived by two brothers, Coy Mitts of Strawberry and Leslie Mitts of Monticello; two stepbrothers, Bobby Joe Ferrell and Gene Kendricks both of Monticello; two half sisters, Flo Ella Bonds of Hamilton, Mich. and Fay Roseman of Tenn; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service were at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Thom Stapleton and Bro. Ricky Jones officiating. Interment was in Balch-Johnston Cemetery at Balch.

Claude A. Foushee of Newport died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003.
