Elmer Keith Lofgreen, 69, of Globe died July 29, 2003 at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa. He was born in Chandler and was a lifelong Arizona resident.

Navarro

Maria Canchola Navarro, 98, died Aug. 1, 2003 at her home in Globe. She was born in Penjamo, Mexico, but was a lifelong Arizona resident.

Powell

Funeral service for Blanche Leona Powell, 89, who died Aug. 3, 2003 at her home in Little Acres, will be at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 6) at Miles of Globe. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Pinal Cemetery in Central Heights.

Roy

Funeral service for Marissa Raquel Roy, 3, who died July 27, 2003 in Mesa was conducted Aug. 1 at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel in Mesa.

Stengel

Edna Louise Stengel of Globe died Aug. 2, 2003 at Heritage Health Care Center. She was born in Isabel, S.D., and moved to Arizona 23 years ago from New Mexico.

Taylor

Robert C. Taylor, 90, of Rossville, Ill., died Aug. 3, 2003 in Rossville. He was born in Newell, Ind., and lived in Globe from 1952 through 1985.

Tucker

James "Jimmy" Tucker, 37, died Aug. 2, 2003 at his home in Miami. He was born in Miami and was a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Caddell

Billie J. Caddell, 69, of Globe died Oct. 4, 2003, at Copper Mountain Inn. She was born in Rosehill, Va., and moved to Arizona eight years ago from Ohio. She was a retired waitress.

Tittles

Kimberly Jean Nichols Tittes, 32, died Sept. 28, 2003. She was born in Globe where she lived until moving to Scottsdale.

Ashby

Mary T. Ashby, 90, of Globe died Nov. 19, 2003, at Heritage Health Care Center. She was born in Hawk Canyon.

Commons

Wilma Louise Commons, 78, of Globe died Nov. 16, 2003, at Heritage Health Care Center. She was born in Miami and moved back to Arizona from California 40 years ago.

Evans

Larry Evans, 79, of Missoula, Mont., died Nov. 13, 2003, at the Village Health Care Center. He was born in La Grande, Ore.

Cassa

Arthur Henry Cassa, 76, of San Carlos died Nov. 16, 2003, at Heritage Health Care Center in Globe. He was born in San Carlos and returned to Arizona 26 years ago after living in California.

Early

Francis Lee Early, 54, of San Carlos died Nov. 17, 2003, at Scottsdale Healthcare in Scottsdale. He was born in San Carlos and was a lifelong resident.

Floyd

Winnie E. Floyd, 95, of Globe died Nov. 21, 2003, at Copper Mountain Inn. She was born in Arkansas and had lived in Arizona 58 years.

Mabry

Marjorie Mabry, 85, died Nov. 21, 2003, at her home in Little Acres. She was born in Wichita, Kan., and had lived in Arizona 54 years.

Myers

Robert Myers, 87, of Globe died Nov. 17, 2003, at Heritage Health Care Center.

Masoner

Mary A. Masoner, 84, of Globe died Nov. 22, 2003, at Cobre Valley Community Hospital. She was born in Ray.

Benally

Elmer Martin Benally, 42, of San Carlos died April 13, 2001 in San Carlos. He was a construction worker.

Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Benally of Peach Springs; his father, Kee Benally Sr. of San Carlos; five brothers, Wilbur Benally Sr., Daniel Benally Sr., Bradley Benally Sr., Lambert Benally, and Kee Benally Jr., all of San Carlos; and two sisters, Matilda Johnson of San Carlos and Rachel Benally of Chandler.

A wake will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Elizabeth Mead residence. Funeral services for Mr. Benally will be conducted Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m. at San Carlos Miracle Church. Interment will follow in San Carlos Cemetery. Lamont Mortuary of Globe is in charge of arrangements.

Beehler

Albert John Beehler, 99, of Globe died June 19, 2001 at Heritage Health Care Center. Born in Guernsey County, Ohio, he had lived in Arizona six years. He was a carpenter.

He is survived by a nephew, William Stocksdale of New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Funeral services were conducted June 25 in New Philadelphia. Interment was in Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Local arrangements were handled by Lamont Mortuary of Globe.

Fountain

Frances Fountain, 81, of Miami died Feb. 14, 2002 at Cobre Valley Community Hospital. She was born in Oklahoma and moved to Bagdad in 1946 and then to Miami in 1950 and lived at the Schulze Ranch. She was a homemaker and an avid artist.

Survivors include her husband, Harlen Fountain of Miami; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Donna Fountain of Globe; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Leroy Goodale and Norma and Ronnie Splane of Miami, and Reta and Charlie Tryon of Mesa; one brother, Jack Stidham of Chickasha, Okla.; one sister, Millie McGill of Miami; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mrs. Fountain was Feb. 18 at Miles Mortuary in Miami. Interment followed in Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens.

Cook

Oma Lee Cook, 70, of Globe died June 7, 2002 at Cobre Valley Community Hospital. She was born in Hugo, Okla., and had lived in Arizona 66 years.

Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband, Al Cook of Globe; two sons, Johnny Cook of Globe and Joe Cook of Mesa; one daughter, Janice Mineer of Taylor; one brother and three sisters; 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was conducted June 10 at Lamont Mortuary Chapel. Interment was in Globe Cemetery.

Alonzo

Juanita Alonzo, 87, of Claypool died Aug. 9, 2002 at Heritage Health Care Center in Globe. She was born in San Juan de Los Lagos, Mexico, and moved to Arizona in 1920.

Mrs. Alonzo is survived by her husband, Maximo Alonzo of Claypool; one daughter, Olivia Alonzo of Claypool; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Larry and Sally Alonzo and Dan Alonzo of Globe, Paco and Angie Alonzo of Miami, and Adam Alonzo of Claypool; one sister, Margaret Rogers of Phoenix; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 13 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Miami. Interment followed at Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were under the direction of Miles Mortuary.

Akins

Roger Akins, 55, died Oct. 13, 2002 in Jacksonville, Fla. He was born in Okemah, Okla., and grew up in Globe, graduating from Globe High School in 1965. He was a longtime soccer and little league coach.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Scott and Michelle Akins; his mother, Irene Puhara; one brother, Dan Akins; and one grandson.

Funeral mass is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Globe.

Biondi

Deana Elena Biondi, 61, died Nov. 26, 2002 at her home in Roosevelt. She was born in Buenos Aries, Argentina, and moved to Arizona 17 years ago from New Mexico. She worked as a telemarketing sales representative.

Mrs. Biondi is survived by one son, David Friedman of Oregon; two daughters, Mona Clark and Kathleen Clark of California; one sister, Gloria Reed Bobo of Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren.

Private services were under the direction of Lamont Mortuary.

Asay

Laura Carrie Asay, 80, of Globe died Feb. 3, 2003 in Gilbert. She was a homemaker who was born in Globe.

She was a member of the Women's Army Air Corps, First Christian Church, and Gila General Auxiliary. She worked at the Globe Public Library.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Wilbur Belvado of Globe and JoAnn and Ken Rabon of Poway, Calif.; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Susan Asay of Gilbert; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mrs. Asay was conducted Feb. 7 at First Christian Church. Interment followed in Old Globe Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Lamont Mortuary.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.

Castaneda

Benny Jets Castaneda, 51, of Phoenix died April 4, 2003 in Phoenix. He was born in Miami and was a lifelong Arizona resident.

He was a residential roofer and served in the Army National Guard.

Survivors include three sons, Elvis Castaneda and Christopher Castaneda of Globe, and Joseph Castaneda of Miami; three brothers, Abie Castaneda of Bobby Blue Castaneda of Miami, and Johnny Castaneda of Globe; and one grandchild.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, April 9) at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Globe. Interment will follow at Globe Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lamont Mortuary.

Crawford

Brenda Kay Crawford, 55, of Globe died June 18, 2003 at Mesa Lutheran Hospital. She was a homemaker who was born in Miami.

She is survived by her husband, Doug Crawford of Globe; three daughters and one son-in-law, Tina and Rick Poeling and Beatrice Manues of Globe, and Cassandra Gooding of Wheatfields; one sister, Judy Smart of Globe; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Wheatfields Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Lamont Mortuary of Globe.

Giovando

Lena Giovando, 80, died Feb. 18, 2001 at her home in Globe. Born in El Paso, Texas, she was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and the Italian Women of America.

Survivors include two sons, John Giovando of Santa Fe, N.M., and Kenneth Giovando of Tempe; one daughter, Gerry Crocker of Goldsboro, N.C.; three sisters, Mary Daou of Globe, Angie De Santis and Helen Colapret of El Paso; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass was celebrated Feb. 24 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Miles-Damron Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Banner Hospice, 2250 E. Highway 60, Suite B, Miami, AZ 85539.

Shaker

Sidney Franklin Shaker, 71, of Long Beach, Calif., died Dec. 6, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in Long Beach. Born in San Carlos, he was a Marine veteran of the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a pharmacist for Long Beach Public Health Service.

Survivors include one sister, Nona Key of San Carlos; and an aunt, Louise Palmer of San Carlos.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 20 at St. Charles Catholic Church in San Carlos. Lamont Mortuary of Globe was in charge of arrangements.

Johnson

Eva Johnson, 83, of Globe died Feb. 13, 2002 at Heritage Health Care Center. She was born in Globe and was a lifelong resident. She was a salesperson at Sears for 37 years and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include one sister, Donnie Devore of Globe.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 18 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Interment was in Old Globe Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Lamont Mortuary of Globe.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Holy Angels Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 143 S. Broad Street, Globe, AZ 85501.

Ferrell

Chester Ferrell, 92, of Globe died June 4, 2002 at Copper Mountain Inn. He was born in Amber, Okla., and had lived in Arizona 66 years. He was an electrician for Local Union No. 769 in Phoenix and had lived in Young from 1985-2000.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Wayne McDowell of Globe; and two sisters, Ruth Ross of Union City, Okla., and Yvonne Moore of Moore, Okla.

Funeral service for Mr. Ferrell was conducted June 8 at Lamont Mortuary Chapel. Interment was in Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix.
