Duwyenie

Pearly Ann Duwyenie, 39, died May 3, 2002 in San Carlos. Born in San Carlos, she attended the Indian Police Academy in Marana and the State Police Academy in Coolidge for Law Enforcement Radio Communication. She worked for the San Carlos Police Department and was also a certified detention officer.

Survivors include her husband, Vaughn Duwyenie; three sons, Herschel Jose Thompson, Vincent Vaughn and Danny Duwyenie; two daughters, Ivonne Lynn and Devona Ann Duwyenie; her parents, Danny and Serina Irving; two brothers, Ferris Irving Jr. and Elvis Irving Jr., all of San Carlos; three sisters, Cynthia Nash and Rethema Long of San Carlos, and Suenell Flores of Tempe; and her grandfather, Terrill Victor Sr. of San Carlos.

Funeral service for Mrs. Duwyenie was conducted May 8 at Miracle Church in San Carlos. Interment was in the Upper Peridot Cemetery. Morris David's Safford Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Petty

Mary Emoloid Elizabeth Petty, 81, died June 2, 2002 at Copper Mountain Inn in Globe. She was born in Daingerfield, Texas, and had lived in Arizona 58 years. She was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of the Independent Order of Foresters.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Petty Oldham of New York; two sisters, Mildred Elliott of Kearny and Margaret Richardson of Globe; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at First Baptist Church of San Manuel. A fellowship will be held following the service in the recreation room of San Manuel Rancho Vista Trailer Park. Miles-Damron Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church in San Manuel or the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Hernandez

Beatrice C. Hernandez, 95, died Aug. 11, 2002 at her home in Miami. She was born in Cananea Sonora, Mexico and had lived in Arizona 93 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Survivors include five daughters and two sons-in-law, Mercy Hernandez of Mesa, Martha and Pete Saenz of Prescott Valley, Sylvia Warner of San Diego, Calif., Irene King of Yuma, and Lena and Manuel Tena of Miami; three sons and two daughters-in-law, John and Josie Hernandez and Eberto and Orlinda Hernandez of Claypool, and Arthur Hernandez of Miami; three sisters, Armida Ruiz of Globe, Mary Payne of Texas, and Virginia Gregari of Payson; 34 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at Miles Mortuary in Miami. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Miami.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will follow at Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were handled by Miles Mortuary.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, P.O. Drawer E, Miami, AZ 85539.

Ortega

Theresa L. Ortega, 43, died Oct. 11, 2002 at her home in Globe. She was born in Globe and was a lifelong resident. She was an administrative assistant for the Gila County Board of Supervisors.

Mrs. Ortega is survived by her husband, Joe Ray Ortega of Globe; one daughter and son-in-law, Anissa and Justin McBride of Globe; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Lindsey Ortega, Jose Ortega and Lukeas Ortega, all of Globe; her father, George Hernandez of Miami; her mother, Margaret Hernandez of Globe; two brothers, George Hernandez and Mike Hernandez; three sisters, Deanna Martinez, Anna Rose Aguilar and Lisa Hernandez; a grandfather, Louis Bracamonte; and four grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 14 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Interment followed in Globe Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Lamont Mortuary.

Thompson

Daniel Joseph Thompson Jr., 39, of San Carlos died Nov. 24, 2002 in San Carlos. He was born in Crownpoint, N.M., and was a laborer for the San Carlos Housing Department.

He is survived by four sons, Daniel Thompson, Jonathan Thompson, Johnson Thompson and Danny Thompson, all of San Carlos; three daughters, Amber Thompson, Justine Thompson and Danielle Chase of San Carlos; his mother, Camellia Key Belvado of San Carlos; two sisters, Carmelita Thompson of San Carlos and Seraphina Henry of Peridot; two brothers, Michael Thompson and Arden Belvado of San Carlos; and two grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 2 at St. Charles Catholic Church. Interment was in Lower Peridot Cemetery. Lamont Mortuary of Globe handled arrangements.

Ordorica

Louise Ordorica, 57, of Globe died Feb. 5, 2003 at Cobre Valley Community Hospital. Born in Michigan, she was a detention officer for the Gila County Sheriff's department.

She was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police, rodeo committee, and the Gila County Cowbelles.

Survivors include three daughters and one son-in-law, Leigh Ann and Sam Kenton and Denise Ordorica of Globe, and Debbie Ordorica of Mesa; five sisters, Dottie DelCastillo of Ohio, Ann from Florida, and Pat, Sarah and Delores from Georgia; three brothers, Jimmy and H.C. from Georgia, and George from Florida; her former husband, Freddie Ordorica of Mammoth; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 12).

Funeral service will be Thursday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. at Miles-Damron Funeral Home in Globe. Interment will follow at Globe Cemetery.

Hammer

Eugene Forrest Hammer, 66, of Globe died April 4, 2003 at Cobre Valley Community Hospital. He was born in Union, Iowa, and had lived in Arizona 36 years.

He was an Air Force veteran and a foreman for Magma Copper. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Miami Elks Lodge, volunteer fireman for Miami, deacon at Central Heights Baptist Church, and a member of Steel Workers Union No. 586 and Cobre Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Hammer of Globe; one daughter and son-in-law, Doreen and James Mills of Globe; one son and daughter-in-law, Forrest and Debra Hammer of Globe; three brothers, Robert Hammer of Roosevelt, Marvin Hammer of Vinton, Iowa, and Stephen Hammer of Topeka, Kan.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mr. Hammer will be at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, April 9) at Central Heights Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Lamont Mortuary.

Taylor

Billi Jo "B.J." Taylor, 22, died April 7, 2002 at her home in Globe. She was born in Farmington, Maine, and had lived in the area since 1985. She was a 1997 graduate of Miami High School.

Survivors include two daughters, Anissa and Bryanna of Claypool; one son, Thomas of Globe; her parents, Tom and Deborah Short of Claypool; five sisters, Kelli Steinke of Montana, Rhonda Stewart and Lori Short of Globe, Kathy Taylor of Massachusetts, and Christine Taylor of Maine; and two brothers, Darin Short of Missouri and Christopher Taylor of Rhode Island.

Funeral service was conducted April 15 at Miles-Damron Chapel. Interment was in Globe Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in her name at Community First Bank.

O'Connor

Martha Jane O'Connor, 83, of Huber Heights, Ohio, died Aug. 8, 2002 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born in Springfield, Ohio.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph O'Connor; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Elaine Mitchell and Dennis and Cindy Mitchell, all of the Dayton, Ohio, area; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Mary Anne and Rudolph Moreno of Central Heights, Johanna "Jody" and H. Michael Fallis of Florida, Linda and Don Wurst and Colleen and Ken Berkey of Huber Heights, and Kim Standifer of Texas; one brother, Paul W. "Bill" Foley; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 10 in Ohio under the direction of George C. Martin Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Good Samaritan Health Foundation, 2222 Philadelphia Drive, Dayton, OH 45406.

Serna

Joanne Serna, 47, of Phoenix died Oct. 4, 2002. Born in Globe, she was a security guard and also worked as an equipment operator and landscaper for the city of Phoenix for many years.

She is survived by one daughter, Tiare Madrid of Phoenix; three sisters, Yolanda Cruz of Globe, Teresa Serna of Phoenix, and Peggy Serna of Santa Anna, Calif.; two brothers, Bobby Serna of Roosevelt and Johnny Serna of Phoenix; and three grandchildren.

Funeral service was conducted Oct. 10 at Resthaven Park Mortuary in Phoenix.

Mann

Marie Louise Mann, 83 of Goldthwaite, Texas, died April 3, 2003 at Coryell Memorial Hospital in Gatesville, Texas. She moved to Goldthwaite from Globe in 1979.

She was a mail carrier for the postal service.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Rena Mann of Young and John and Jeannie Mann of Goldthwaite; one daughter, Anna Carolyn Dodd of Young; one brother, Fred Zacharaie of Young; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was conducted April 7 at Stacy-Wilkins Chapel in Goldthwaite. Interment was in Goldthwaite memorial Cemetery.

Olives

Funeral services are pending with Miles Mortuary for Robert Lee Olives, 76, of Midland City who died April 7, 2003 at Cobe Valley Community Hospital.

Nealand Micah Boni, 3

Nealand Micah Boni, age 3, passed away on July 20, 2009 in San Carlos, AZ. Boni was born in Globe on October 21, 2005 to Jason and Kimberly Boni. He was a resident of Peridot, AZ and lived in Arizona his entire life.

He is survived by his parents, Jason and Kimberly Boni of Peridot; sister Emalynn Boni of Peridot; brother Malachi Boni of Peridot; paternal grandparents, Orville and Shirley Boni of Peridot; maternal grandparents, Isabelle and Harrison Bead of San Carlos, and Deloria Elgo of San Carlos; maternal great grandmother Mary Bead of San Carlos; and paternal great grandmothers Gladys Brown of Mesa, AZ, and Stella Boni of Peridot.

A wake was held on Friday, July 24, at Stella Boni’s residence in Peridot, AZ. Services were held on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the LDS Church in San Carlos, AZ. Interment took place at Six Mile Cemetery in Peridot, AZ. Lamont Mortuary of Globe assisted the family with the arrangements.

Michael Anthony “Mike” Amado, 40

Michael Anthony “Mike” Amado, 40, of Miami, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2009 in Miami. Services for Mike are pending with Miles Funeral Service in Miami.

Phyllis Ann Craft

Phyllis Ann Craft was a daughter, mom, grandma, aunt and sister. She was loved by all her children, mother, siblings, nephews, nieces and friends.

Phyllis graduated eighth grade from Our Savior Lutheran School, with Christine Anderson, whom she calls her best friend (they were also relatives).

Then she went on to Ft. Thomas High School and again graduated from high school with her best friend, Christine Anderson.

After graduating from high school she went on to San Jose, Calif., to go to college at Condie Business College, from where she graduated and got her degree in business. After graduating, she landed her first job at IBM for five years before she got laid off. Then she went to work at the Indian Center as a receptionist for another few years, before she met James Craft Sr. and got married to him.

They had one daughter, Samantha, and one son, James Craft. She also had two sons, Rodney and Steve.

Phyllis was free-spirited and an outgoing person and will be remembered by all her family and loved ones. Be at peace with yourself, for you suffer no more. Thank you Jesus.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, James Craft Sr.; her four kids, Steve, Rodney, James and Samantha; mother, Lorraine Dunigan; stepfather, David Dunigan; sisters Jennifer and Debbie; brothers Ted and John Rustin; grandma, Emma Pikes; uncles, aunts, and many relatives.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the House of God in San Carlos.

Larry Kent Walker Sr., 35

Larry Kent Walker Sr., 35, of Peridot, passed away on July 20, 2009 in Tucson.

He was born on Dec. 20, 1973 in San Carlos, the son of Albert and Susan Walker.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Walker.

He is survived by his son, Larry Kent Walker Jr. of Queen Creek; his daughter, Lori Jane Walker, of San Carlos; his mother, Susan Walker, of Queen Creek; his sister, Laura Vidourek (Chris) of Queen Creek; and two brothers, Timothy Walker and Al Shannon Sippi, both of San Carlos.

A wake was held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Timothy Walker’s residence in San Carlos. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009 at Timothy Walker’s residence in San Carlos. Interment will be at Northgate Cemetery in San Carlos.

Lamont Mortuary of Globe assisted the family.

John Wilbert Keenon, 92

John Wilbert Keenon, 92, of Miami, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009, at Heritage Health Care Center.

He was born in Montague, Texas on Oct. 11, 1916, the son of Beulah (Ratliff) and John Keenon. John was a member of First Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and he will be warmly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him.

John W. Keenon leaves behind in loving memory, his wife of 68 years, Mary Frances (McEntire) Keenon, whom he married on May 17, 1941; daughters, Cynthia Bryant of Halfway, Ore., Annette Mueller of Miami, Barbara Jeffries of Miami, and Elois Corn of Miami; grandsons, Willy, Bob, Tom, Keith, Robert and John; granddaughter Stacey; and 12 great grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Deacon Fund, 3654 Gordon Street, Miami, AZ 85539.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2009, at First Baptist Church, 3654 Gordon Street, Miami.

Interment was at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2009 at Mt. View Memorial Gardens, 7900 E. Main Street, Mesa, Ariz.

Funeral arrangements for John W. Keenon were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services, Miami.

John R. Perry, 76

John R. Perry, 76, of Young, died on July 10, 2009 at his residence. He was born in North Woodstock, N.H. on July 17, 1932, the son of John J. and Anne E. Perry. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, working as a Metals Proc. Specialist.

He is survived by his wife, Inga J. Perry; two sons, Dennis J. Perry (Rose) of Phoenix, and Richard W. Perry (Kathey) of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Sherill A. Cahall (Ken) of Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers, Jim Perry of Texas, and Ted Perry of Florida; and his sister, Jean Titus, of Maine.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2009 at Young Baptist Church in Young. Lamont Mortuary of Globe assisted the family with the arrangements.

Abraham “Rudy” Perez, 65

Abraham “Rudy” Perez, 65, was taken into the hands of the Lord Thursday, July 2, 2009, after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.

Rudy graduated from Miami High School in 1962 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served his country for four years. Upon discharge, he became a journeyman electrician, working on several projects throughout the area. He was a member of the VFW. Rudy enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an accomplished bowler. He enjoyed special times with family and friends, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be missed by many.

Rudy was predeceased by his parents, Concepcion and Abraham Perez. He is survived by three daughters, Michelle Perez of Mesa, Tracy J. DiGregorio (Perez) and husband Keith of Massachusetts, their children Ryan and Miah; and Tammy Graham of Austin, Texas. Rudy is also survived by three brothers, Benny Perez, Richard “Dickie” Perez and wife Alice, of Miami; Robert “Ronnie” Perez and wife Lupita of Phoenix; and one sister, Cindy Davenport (Perez) and husband Dan of Mesa, with whom he lived these past 18 months.

Services were held on Monday, July 6, 2009 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Miami, with Father Jay officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.

McKay “Gup” Miller Jr., 63

McKay “Gup” Miller Jr., 63, of San Carlos, died on Friday, July 10, 2009 at Arizona Heart Hospital in Phoenix.

He was born on Nov. 25, 1945 in San Carlos, the son of McKay Miller Sr. and Cora Bread. He lived in Arizona his entire life, and was a bailiff for the San Carlos Tribal Court.
