Michael Roperti

Michael Roperti of Kingman died Thursday, April 22, 1999. He was 82. Born March 29, 1917 in Providence, R.I., Mr. Roperti worked for 33 years as a machinist at Tool and Dye. He retired in 1986 after working at D and S Screw Products. He served in the Army.

Mr. Roperti is survived by daughter Elizabeth A. Carlson of Kingman; son Michael A. Roperti of Kingman; sister Angie Cimino of Dighton, Mass.; two brothers, George Roperti of Dighton, Mass., and Tony Roperti of Johnston, R.I.; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Services and burial will be held in Rhode Island at Marino-Prata Funeral Home a later date.

Lucille Ottipoby Wolfe

Lucille Ottipoby Wolfe died Tuesday, April 20, 1999 in Kingman. She was 96.

Mrs. Wolfe was born on October 26, 1902 in Holland, Mich. She lived in Kingman for the past six years.

Mrs. Wolfe is survived by: son Collins Ottipoby of Kingman; three brothers, Teno, Melvin and Vernon Vande Water of Holland Michigan; one granddaughter; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by husband, Austin Wolfe of Ann Arbor, Mich.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 23, 1999 at 10 a.m. in the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church with Pastor Tim Hagquist officiating.

Edmond R. Brenizer

Edmond R. Brenizer died Sunday, April 18, 1999 in Kingman. He was 84.

Mr. Brenizer was born April 13, 1915 in Wooster, Ohio. He was a civil engineer with the Arizona Highway Department, and member of College Park Baptist Church. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the following organizations: Scottish Rite of Free Masonry Third Degree Valley of Tucson Orient of Arizona No. 000660704; and Montezuma Lodge No. 35 of Phoenix.

Mr. Brenizer is survived by: his wife, Ruth of Kingman; two daughters, Donita Kay Jiaquinto of Los Angeles, Calif. and Anita Rae Fazio of Santa Barbara, Calif.; one son, Jerrold Brenizer of Phoenix; and one grandchild.

A service for Mr. Brenizer, conducted by Pastor Paul Temple, will be held at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Friday, April 23, 1999. Burial will be in Resthaven Park, Phoenix.

Constance Hankammer

Constance "Connie" Hankammer Post died Saturday, April 17, 1999 in California. She was 79.

Mrs. Hankammer was born February 19, 1920 in Pasadena, Calif., and was a resident of Randsburg, Calif., since 1938, except for a brief move to Hermosa Beach, Calif., and Kingman in 1980. She worked as the Postmaster of Randsburg, Calif., for 25 years and owned the Randsburg General Store until 1980. She was a member of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1952. She was active in the Postmasters Association, both locally and nationally, serving in several positions.

Mrs. Hankammer is survived by: two daughters, Carolyn Brennan of Boise, Idaho, and Meredith Post of Randsburg; son David Post of Ridgecrest; sister Jean Cooper of Pismo Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five nephews. She was preceded in death by husband George in 1971 and by her parents, Walter and Ruth Hankammer.

A graveside memorialservice will be held Friday, April 23, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Rand District Cemetery in Johannesburg, Calif., with Pastor Jim Pinnell presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society.

Virginia S. Cole

Virginia S. Cole died Thursday, April 15, 1999 in Dolan Springs. She was 84.

Mrs. Cole was born Jan. 1, 1915 in Conway, Mo. She was a waitress.

Mrs. Cole is survived by: her husband, Ross B. Cole of Dolan Springs.

A graveside service, under the direction of Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 1999 at Chloride Cemetery.

Richard L. Dawson Jr.

Richard L. Dawson Jr., a former city councilman in Kingman, died Friday, April 16, 1999 in Casa Grande. He was 71.

Mr. Dawson was born June 21, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio, and was a Navy veteran and superintendent. He was a member of Casa Grande Elks Lodge No. 1957 BPOE, Kiwanis Club, and Dave White Men's Association.

Mr. Dawson is survived by: his wife, Barbara of Casa Grande; four daughters, Rebecca Raleigh of Glendale, Nancy Pearson of Mesa, Sandra Tate of Casa Grande, and Peggy Hoffman of Laughlin, Nev.; on son, Lee Dawson of Connecticut; and one sister, Claudia Cronin of Seattle, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Frances Dawson.

Visitation for Mr. Dawson is planned at Simes Mortuaries Casa Grande Chapel from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, April 23, 1999. A service will follow at 2 p.m., conducted by Pastor Jim Porter, before burial in Mountain View Cemetery in Casa Grande.

The family has requested any donations be made to the Richard Dawson memorial Fund, P.O. Box 12155, Casa Grande, Ariz. 85230.

Ivan LaVern Shutt

Ivan LaVern Shutt died April 5, 1999 in Kingman. He was 70.

Mr. Shutt was born Nov. 25, 1928 in Madison County, Iowa to Vern and Margaret Shutt. he grew up on a farm northeast of Truro, Iowa, with his father and step-mother, Helen Boren Shutt. He attended Truro Consolidated school and a business school in Des Moines, Iowa. He then served in the army during occupational duty specializing in message decoding.

Mr. Shutt married wife, Gwenivere in July of 1961.

Mr. Shutt's work as an insurance adjuster took the couple to several western states.

After retiring as an insurance adjuster, Mr. Shutt managed a car rental agency for several years.

Mr. Shutt is survived by: mother, Margaret Murphy, step mother; Helen Boren Shutt of Truro; two sisters, Bernice Bruce of Aurora, Colo., and Elizabeth Smith of Truro; three nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his wife, father, step brother and three nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in Ohio beside wife Gwen.

Hunter "Maggie" Minton-Jarrell

Hunter "Maggie" Minton-Jarrell died Tuesday, April 13, 1999 in Las Vegas. She was 62.

Mrs. Minton-Jarrell was born Aug. 15, 1936 in Joplin, Mo. She was raised in Baltimore, Md., and Memphis, Tenn. She graduated from St. Mary's on the Mountain High School in Sewanee, Tenn., and attended Cornell University Hotel School in Ithaca, N.Y.

Mrs. Minton-Jarrell started a hotel marketing career in Baltimore, Md. For more than 20 years she was director of marketing and sales at numerous hotel/casinos in Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nev. Among those were the Nevada Palace, Vegas World and El Rancho of Las Vegas and the Edgewater and Gold River in Laughlin.

In Las Vegas, Mrs. Minton-Jarrell started a second career as a writer. She was a feature writer for numerous publications including Casino Digest, Casino Gaming and Desert Life Magazine. She was a columnist for Las Vegas Today, Valley times, The Entertainer, the Valley Times, Las Vegas Review Journal and the Needles Desert Star. She also published The Laughlin Insider newsletter, Travel West Magazine and the Coyote Courier Newspaper. She also owned several successful room reservation businesses.

Mrs. Minton-Jarrell served on the Laughlin Camber of Commerce board, was president of the Friends of the Laughlin Library and was a member of the Laughlin Library Building Committee. She received a Spirit of Nevada award in recognition of her service and commitment to the residents of the state of Nevada.

Mrs. Minton-Jarrell is survived by: husband, Jeff Jarrell of Chloride; son Ford Minton of San Jose, Calif.; and sister Ann Holliday Packard, of Pebble Beach, Calif. Memorial services will be Saturday, April 17, 1999 at 6:30 p. in the band stand at Town Square at the Ramada Express Hotel/Casino in Laughlin.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, Nev., 89119.

Mavis L. West

Mavis L. West of Kingman died Monday, April 12, 1999 in Scottsdale. She was 72.

Mrs. West was born May 5, 1926 in Knightstown, Ind. She worked as a waitress.

Mrs. West is survived by: husband, Charles West of Kingman; two sons, Jerry West of Sun City, Calif., and Norman West of Falksville, Ala.; two brothers, Dale Craft of Zionsville, Ind., and Glen Craft of Sun City, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 1999 at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Services, officiated by Father Falance, will follow at 2 p.m.

The family suggests donations to St. Theresa's Church.

Raymond A. Hamilton

Raymond A. Hamilton of Golden Valley died Sunday, April 11, 1999. He was 74.

Mr. Hamilton was born Aug. 6, 1924 in Winters, Texas.

He worked as a tile setter.

Mr. Hamilton is survived by: wife, Mary (Willard) Hamilton of Kingman; Son Richard Hamilton of Tucson; four daughters, Loyce of Oklahoma, Raylene and Jeannie of California, and Bobbie of Oklahoma; two sisters, Tina of Taylor; and Lou of California; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

No services are planned. Sutton Crematory will handle cremation.

Clifford L. Neal

Clifford L. Neal died Tuesday, March 29, 1999 in Bend, Ore. He was 70.

Mr. Neal was born Nov. 16, 1928 in Kingman to the late Edward and Gertrude Neal. Mr. Neal was graduated from Kingman High School in 1948. He served in the Arizona National Guard and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served in the Korean War.

Mr. Neal worked for the Arizona State Highway Department. He retired from the Duval Mine where he worked as a millworker. He served on the Hackberry School Board and was a former member of Knights of Columbus at St. Mary's Catholic Church. On Oct. 9, 1994, he married Pat (Morgan) Neal in Reno, Nev.

Mr. Neal is survived by: his wife, Pat (Morgan) Neal of Bend, Ore.; two sons, Tim Neal of Kingman, and Paul Neal of Boulder City, Nev.; four daughters, Rachel Rincon of Kingman, Ava Robinson of Le Grand, Calif.; Trudy Neal of Louisville, Colo., and Rhamona Neal of Kingman; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by: son Michael Rincon; brother Hubert Neal, and sister Lorraine Ehlerman.

Services, officiated by Dr. James Tucker, the cousin of Pat Neal, were held on Monday, April 5, 1999 at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Burial was at Mountain View Cemetery.

The family asks that donations be made to Kingman Cancer Care, P.O. Box 561, Kingman, Ariz., 86402.

Fred W. Genung

Fred W. Genung of Chino Valley died Monday, April 5, 1999 in Prescott. He was 81. Mr. Genung was born Nov. 13, 1917 in Humboldt, Ariz., to Fred W. and Millicent (Gilleland) Genung.

He served in the Army for three years during World War II. In 1955 he married Dorothy Robbins.

Mr. Genung worked as a lab technician for the Arizona Department of Transportation for 15 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Oddfellows lodge.

Mr. Genung is survived by: two sisters, Grace Genung Moore of Kingman and Jean Green of Chino Valley; and one niece. He was preceded in death by wife Dorothy.

A private cremation will be held at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley.

Jennie Vivian Hamen

Jennie Vivian Hamen died, Saturday, April 3, 1999. She was 81. Mrs. Hamen was born in Bush, Ark., on June 22, 1917 to L.E. and Alma (Pyatt) Young.

She moved to Arizona from Oklahoma in 1942. Mrs. Hamen was a homemaker.

She is survived by: two sons, Dennis LeForce and David LeForce; two daughters, Melva Connolly and Linda Miles; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 7, 1999 at 10 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery.

Geneveive Kragel

Geneveive Kragel died Saturday, April 3, 1999 in Kingman. She was 64. She was born in Price Hill, W. Va. Mrs. Kragel moved to Kingman from Las Vegas in 1998. She was retired.

She is survived by: husband, William Kragel of Kingman; son Charles Diggins of San Francisco; and daughter Stephanie Gaffney of South Carolina.

Henry W. Love

Henry W. Love died Wednesday, March 31, 1999 in Kingman. He was 80.

Mr. Love was born August 18, 1918 in Craigsville, W.Va.; he moved to Kingman from Colorado.

Mr. Love worked as a bank manager. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church; Disabled American Veterans; a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association; and a member of the Durango (Colorado) and Hualapai gun clubs. He served in the Marine Corps.

Mr. Love is survived by: wife, Winnie Love of Kingman; son Joseph A. Love of Richwood, W. Va.; three brothers, Donald Love of Craigsville, W.Va., Gerald Love of Baltimore, Md., and Emery Love of Escalante, Utah; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Steven Bergeson, is scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, April 2, 1999 at Grace Lutheran Church. Cremation will be handled by Sutton Crematory.

Ruth Smith Ison

Ruth Smith Ison died Tuesday March 30, 1999, in Kingman. She was 85.

Mrs. Ison was born March 26, 1914, in Knoxville, Tenn., and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Ison is survived by: two daughters, Janey Ison Pike, and Rebecca Ison, both of Kingman; one sister, Leoma Nelson of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; one brother, Leonard Smith of Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

No services were held. Cremation was handled by Sutton Crematory.

Dorothy Orkiszewski

Dorothy Orkiszewski died Thursday, April 29, 1999 in Meadview. She was 79.

Mrs. Orkiszewski was born April 12, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a factory worker, and member of Our Lady of the Desert Church in Dolan Springs and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Dolan Springs.

Mrs. Orkiszewski is survived by: two daughters, Geraldine Tilbert of Glendale and Sharon Hudak of Indiana; on son, Dennis York of Apache Junction; and one sister, Florence Wazak of Florida.

Visitation and a mass of Christian Burial was scheduled earlier today at Our Lady of the Desert Church in Dolan Springs. Burial was planned at Holy Cross Cemetery in Phoenix.

Sutton Memorial Funeral Home handled arrangements.
