Cletus Eugene Huson

Cletus Eugene Huson died Monday Jan. 10, 2000, in Kingman. He was 65. Mr. Huson was born Nov. 3 1935, in Naylor, Mo., and came to Kingman 10 years ago from Las Vegas, Nev. He was a dairyman and an exterminator. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.

Mr. Huson is survived by: his wife, Sandy Huson; five children, Rod Huson of Kingman, Floyd Huson of Arbuckle, Calif., Cyndee Van Curen of Prophetstown, Ill., Betty Huson of Arbuckle, Calif., and Wes Huson, also of Arbuckle; three stepchildren, Dennis Kubas of Billings, Mont., Wayne Olson and Mynda Frier, both of Kingman; two brothers, Bob Huson of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Cliff Huson of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Genevive Lafferty of Crystal River, Fla., and Wilma Loyd of Fairdealing, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

No services will be held. A wake will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday Jan. 13, 2000, at the Alamo at 2925 E. Northern Ave.

Murl Harris

Murl Harris, a former resident of Kingman, died Jan. 6, 2000, in Upland, Calif. He was 83.

Mr. Harris was born Jan., 24, 1916, in Defiance, Iowa, and had lived in the Kingman area for 18 years, coming here from Claremont, Calif.

Mr. Harris is survived by: two sons, Blair Harris and Rick Harris, both of Upland, Calif.; one stepson, Ron Baker of Sacramento, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Sandra Rowlands of Upland, Calif.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Arizona time on Saturday Jan. 14, 2000, at Desert Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bullhead City.

Mildred Viola (Cantwell) Bolger

Mildred Viola (Cantwell) Bolger died Monday Jan. 10, 2000, in Kingman. She was 85.

Mrs. Bolger was born Sept. 11, 1914, in Weed, N.M. She owned Millie's Beauty Shop and was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bolger is survived by: one daughter, Helen White of Kingman; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Bill Bolger, in 1980; one son, Joe Chambers, in 1973; one grandchild, in 1989; three brothers; three sisters; and her parents.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday Jan. 14, 2000, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, also at Sutton. Pastor Louie Marsh will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Fumiko Yamakazi Arcarese

Fumiko Yamakazi Arcarese of Kingman died Jan. 7, 2000, in Phoenix. She was 69.

Mrs. Arcarese was born Aug. 7, 1931, in Gumaken, Japan, and came to Kingman in 1990 from California. She was married in 1950 in Japan and came to the U.S. soon afterward. She owned an arcade business in the Los Angeles area for 10 years. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, shopping, and cooking.

Mrs. Arcarese is survived by: three daughters, Linda Owens of Kingman, and Charlene Herriford and Yvonne Dillman, both of California; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday Jan. 13, 2000, at the Calvary Church in West Hills, Calif.

Julius Redfern Steele

Julius Redfern Steele died Sunday Jan. 9, 2000, in Kingman. He was 81.

Mr. Steele was born March 1, 1918, in Los Angeles. He worked as an auditor for 24 years for the federal government, was an officer in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of the Kingman Elks Lodge.

Mr. Steele is survived by: his wife, Eunice Steele of Kingman ; one son, John "Jack" Steele of Kingman; and one granddaughter.

The Rev. Robert Cutlipp will preside over a funeral service for Mr. Steele at 3 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 12, 2000, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. He will be buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.

The family has requested any donations be made to Kingman Cancer Care, P.O. Box 561, Kingman, Ariz. 86402 or to St. John's United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1730 Kino Ave., Kingman, Ariz. 86401.

Lula May Roderick

Lula May Roderick of Golden Valley died Thursday Jan. 6, 2000. She was 70.

Mrs. Roderick was born April 4, 1929 in Wilksboro, N.C. She was a housekeeper for the Holiday Inn, and custodian at Golden Valley Baptist Church.

Mrs. Roderick is survived by: her husband, James F. Roderick of Golden Valley; one son, William Scott Roderick of Mesa; and two sisters, Mary Elply of Dandridge, Tenn. and Elender Bauguss of Wilksboro, N.C.

Visitation is scheduled at Golden Valley Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 11, 2000. Pastor Mark Crotinger will preside over a service for Mrs. Roderick at the church at 4 p.m.

Cremation is being handled by Sutton Crematory.

Michelle A. Mortlock

Michelle A. Mortlock of Tempe died Monday Jan. 3, 2000. She was 28.

Ms. Mortlock was born March 25, 1971 in Gibson City, Ill.

Ms. Mortlock is survived by: her parents, Richard Mortlock and Barbara Cox of Kingman; one brother, Michael; her stepmother, Yolanda; her stepfather, Glenn; one stepbrother, Daniel; two stepsisters, Bertha and Lety; grandparents Farol and Pat; and her great grandmother.

Private services were held in Tempe.

James Strain

James Strain died Tuesday Jan. 4, 2000. He was 37.

Mr. Strain was born Aug. 4, 1962 in Oil City, Pa. He lived in Kingman for 14 years and was a laborer.

Mr. Strain is survived by: his mother, Mary Sanders of Kingman; two children, Stephanie and Corey; one brother, William; three sisters, Diana Ralph of Kingman, Elizabeth of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jackie Stites of Dakota City, Neb.; and his maternal grandmother, Genevieve Johnson of Oil City, Pa.

A memorial service for Mr. Strain will be conducted at College Park Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 11, 2000.

Lawrence A. Gordon

Lawrence A. Gordon died Friday Jan. 7, 2000 in Kingman. He was 76.

Mr. Gordon was born May 2, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minn. He came to Kingman in 1984 from Cary, Ill. and was a carpenter. He served in the United States Army in World War II and was a member of American Legion Post No. 14.

Mr. Gordon is survived by: his wife, Bernice of Kingman; two daughters, Barbara Cunningham of East Dundie, Ill. and Patty Hauth of Crystal Lake, Ill.; three sons, Ron Gordon of Kingman, Tom Gordon of Cary, Ill. and mark Gordon of Elmhurst, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A memorial service for Mr. Gordon will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday Jan. 11, 2000 at St. John's Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Cutlipp officiating.

Clifford William Getschow

Clifford William Getschow died Friday Jan. 7, 2000 in Kingman. He was 79.

Mr. Getschow was born Aug. 24, 1920 in Chicago. He was self employed as a tile setter, and served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Mr. Getschow is survived by: one daughter, Jill Kowalski of Kingman; one sister, Myrtle Raysby of Round Lake, Ill.; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 12, 2000 at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service at the home is scheduled for 11 a.m., followed by burial in Mountain View Cemetery.

Marguerite Louise Miller

Marguerite Louise Miller died Thursday Dec. 31, 1999, in Kingman. She was 71.

Mrs. Miller was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Plato, Minn., and came to Kingman in 1992 from Buena Park, Calif. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Miller is survived by: her husband of 40 years, William Miller of Kingman; eight children, Michaele of Brandon, Fla., Ina of Temecula, Calif., Carrie of Anaheim, Calif., Denice of Anaheim, Robert of Buena Park, Glenn of Bakersfield, Calif., Anna of Springfield, Mo., and Edward of Anaheim; one sister, Pat Wilson of Anaheim; 24 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

No services were held.

Wayne Lawrence Matney

Wayne Lawrence Matney died Tuesday Jan. 4, 2000, in Kingman. He was 60.

Mr. Matney was born March 14, 1939, in Shenandoah, Iowa. He was a recycler in the auto salvage business and served in the Arizona Army National Guard.

Mr. Matney is survived by: his wife, Aretta Susan Matney; two daughters, Michelle Hardcastle of Kingman, and Melinda Gardner of Nebraska; one son, Kenneth Matney of Broomfield, Colo.; his father, Lawrence Matney of Kingman; his mother, Margaret Ochoa of Tustin, Calif.; six sisters, Nancy Timmons, Maxine Hogan, Sharon Ognibene, Loretta Lambert, Jeanette Placentia, and Jeanie Harvey, all of California; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday Jan. 7, 2000, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday Jan. 8, 2000, also at Sutton. Pastor Ronald Fair will officiate.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Jeannette Irene Tissaw

Jeannette Irene Tissaw died Dec. 19, 1999, in Kingman. She was 56.

Mrs. Tissaw was born Aug. 27, 1943, in Rockport, Texas, and came to Kingman six years ago from Las Vegas, Nev. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Tissaw is survived by: her husband, Jack Tissaw of Kingman; one son, Jeff Sloan of Hednerson, Nev.; one sister, Sheila Cipro of Las Vegas; two brothers, George Escoffier of Kingman, and Richard Escoffier of Henderson, Nev.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday Jan. 8, 2000, at the Church of Christ, located at 1915 Robinson.

Samuel Harold Jackson

Samuel Harold Jackson died Jan. 1, 2000, in Kingman. He was 73.

Mr. Jackson was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Reading, Pa., and came to Kingman 10 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years.

Mr. Jackson is survived by: his wife, Nora V. Jackson; one stepdaughter, Jean Knapp of Simi Valley, Calif.' one stepson, Gary Dixon of Torrance, Calif.; one sister, Ann Kugler of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: one stepson, Michael Dixon; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday Jan. 8, 2000, at Hilltop Southern Baptist Church, 605 Oak. Pastor Denis Cronkright will officiate.

Edith Helen Gault Hillerby Pike

Edith Helen Gault Hillerby Pike, a longtime resident of Kingman, died Dec. 11, 1999, in Albuquerque, N.M. She was 90.

Mrs. Pike was born June 27, 1909, in Crawford City, Mo. She married her first husband, James Jacob Gault on Sept. 15, 1928. He died Aug. 15, 1952. She married Robert Hillerby in 1955. She and Mr. Hillerby, who died, lived in Albuquerque and Kingman and were active in the Southern Baptist Church. Mrs. Pike was also active in the Eastern Star. She married Richard Pike and the couple resided in Kingman and Ardmore, Okla,. until his death.

Mrs. Pike is survived by: two sons, Richard Gault of Albuquerque, and Robert Gault of San Jose, Calif.; one daughter, Deloris Halling of Clearfield, Utah; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.,

In addition to her three husbands, she was preceded in death by: her parents; one brother, Oscar; one sister, Rosetta; and one daughter, Janice Walston.

Graveside services were held Wednesday Dec. 15, 1999, at Fairview Memorial Park in Albuquerque, N.M.

John Paul Olszewski

John Paul Olszewski died Saturday Feb. 26, 2000 in Kingman. He was 81.

Mr. Olszewski was born June 10, 1918 in Chicago. He was a motorman and bus driver with the city of Chicago for 39 years.

Mr. Olszewski is survived by: his wife, Ella Olszewski of Kingman; one daughter, Kathryn Metzke of Kingman; one son, Robert Clark of Tucson; one sister, Victoria Herrick of Cummings, Ga.; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Visitation for Mr. Olszewski will be held at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday March 1, 2000 with a rosary service planned at 6 p.m. Father James Alling will officiate at a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10 a.m. Thursday March 2, 2000, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Paul F. Burgett

Paul F. Burgett died Friday Feb. 25, 2000 in Kingman. He was 63.

Mr. Burgett was born July 31, 1936 in Olney, Ill. He worked in the electrical field as an outage specialist and was with Southern California Edison for 22 years. He also was a member of Kingman Moose Lodge No. 1704, the Kingman Bowling Association, and Valle Vista Country Club.

Mr. Burgett is survived by: his wife, Audrey Burgett of Kingman; his mother, Margaret Hazelrigg; one daughter, Carrie Burgett of Kingman; three sons, Paul B. Burgett and C. Brad Burgett of Kingman, and Dwaynek Burgett of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Ruth Havener of Beacher City, Ill. and Cathrine Swaim of Chelsea, Iowa; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Visitation will be held at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday March 1, 2000. A funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Mark Decker, will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday and will be followed by burial in Mountain View Cemetery.

The family has requested donations to Kingman Cancer Care, P.O. Box 561, Kingman 86402.

Wilbert Dean Gash

Wilbert Dean Gash died Feb. 22, 2000 in Dolan Springs. He was 58.

Mr. Gash was born on Oct. 14, 1941 in Vineland, Colo. He attended the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo, Colo. He was retired from a 20-year career as an electronics technician in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked as the general manager of Mount Tipton Water Co., Inc., in Dolan Springs until 1998. He lived in Mohave County for 13 years.

Mr. Gash was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post N. 9833; Fleet Reserve Association; and American Legion Post No. 88.

Cremation will be handled by Sutton Crematory. Burial will be at sea. A memorial service will be held at VFW Post No. 9833; a date and time for the service have not been set.

Mr. Gash is survived by: his wife, Carol Gash of Dolan Springs; two daughters, Laura Carpenter and Renee Klocke; stepson Preston Van Der Meiren of Elizabethtown, Ky.; two stepdaughters, Julie Duarte of Von Ormy, Texas and Pamela Tyler of Carbondale, Colo; brother Charles Marvin Gash of Santa Ana, Calif.; four sisters, Sheila Seid of Palm Desert, Calif., Ledema Renfrow, Trecia Jane Gash and Anita Ann Gash, all of Pueblo, Colo.; one grandson; two granddaughters; eight stepgrandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Gash and Sylvia Vella McAninch.
