Jesse Laroy Ford

Jesse Laroy Ford of Golden Valley died Wednesday Aug. 11, 1999. He was 55.

Mr. Ford was born Aug. 25, 1943, in Bastrop, La. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict. He had been employed as a bartender.

Mr. Ford is survived by: His mother, Alice Lacey; one brother, Bob Ford; and three sisters, Carol Reiger, Jeanette Chenowith, and Sandy Riddle.

No services were announced.

John Edward Leao

John Edward Leao died Wednesday, August 11, 1999 in Kingman. He was 76.

Mr. Leao was born August 31, 1922 in Brookfield, Mass. He worked as an equipment supervisor for a construction firm. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in St. Johnsbury, Utah; Shriners Lodge in Norwood, N.Y.; Eastern Star in Essex, Utah; and Hualapai Four Wheelers. He served in World War II as a motor mechanic mate first class.

Mr. Leao is survived by: wife Elanor (Binley) Leao; son Dean Leao of Canyon Country, Calif.; daughter Linda Raymond of Fayetteville, N.Y.; sister Mrs. James Selter of Sheridan, Calif.; and brother Gordon Leao of Spencer, Mass.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 14, 1999 at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Cremation will be handled by Sutton Crematory.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, Fairfax and Virginia St., Salt Lake City, Utah, 84103.

James D. Mallory

James D. Mallory died Saturday, August 7, 1999 in Kingman. He was 70.

Mr. Mallory was born on Aug. 7, 1929 in Newhall, Calif.

Mr. Mallory served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post No. 10386 in Kingman and American Legion Post No. 814 in Panorama City, Calif.

Mr. Mallory is survived by: his wife, Jean Mallory of Kingman; one daughter, Janette Slajchert of California; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by one son, Jeff Mallory, in 1988.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday Aug. 11, 1999 at College Park Southern Baptist Church. A memorial luncheon will follow immediately at the VFW Post No. 10386, 3036 E. John L. Ave.

Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Michael D. Reid

Michael D. Reid died Thursday Aug. 5, 1999 in Phoenix. He was 17.

Michael was born on Aug. 22, 1988 in Blythe, Calif. He came to Kingman from Blythe with his parents in 1982.

Michael is survived by: his father, Dennis Reid of Kingman; his mother, Deborah Shire; one brother, Anthony Shire; grandfather Verlin Reid of Kingman; grandmother Vera May Reid of Moequa, Ill.; grandfather Stephen Fitch of Eugene, Ore.; two uncles; one aunt; and stepmother Leann Norris.

Funeral services are pending.

Beth E. Moulton

Beth E. Moulton died Saturday Aug.7, 1999 in Kingman. She was 55.

Mrs. Moulton was born July 12, 1944 in Greenville, Ohio. She was a resident of Kingman since 1964.

She worked as a sales representative for Avon cosmetics company for 23 years. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Kingman.

Mrs. Moulton is survived by: her husband, Larry Moulton of Kingman; one daughter, Trudy Rich of Kingman; one sister, Saundra Waalkens of Kingman; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by: one son, Ronald Moulton in 1982; one sister, Barbara Dumford in 1991; and one brother, Donald Bolenbaugh in 1968.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday Aug. 12, 1999 at First Assembly of God. Sutton Crematory will handle cremation.

Howard Guild Harrison

Howard Guild Harrison died Thursday Aug. 5, 1999, in Golden Valley. He was 87.

Mr. Harrison was born Nov., 25, 1911, in Missouri. He worked on the Maui Island Naval Shipyard for 30 years as a Civil Service electrical engineer. He was an amateur radio operator and a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Kingman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Harrison is survived by: two daughters, Ruth Bedard of Rosemond, Calif., and Trina Harrison of Bullhead City; three sons, William Harrison Sr. of Golden Valley, Donald Harrison of Kingman, and William Harrison Jr. of Golden Valley; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Alice Margaret Bapple Harrison.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at noon Tuesday at Mountain View Cemetery.

James Raoul Montagne

James Raoul Montagne died Tuesday, July 27, 1999 in Dolan Springs. He was 72.

Mr. Montagne was born Aug. 24, 1927 in Abbeyville, La. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Stan Kenton Band. He later graduated from the University of Oregon, and began an X-ray business.

Mr. Montagne is survived by: his wife, Pam Bertholy Montagne; three sons, James Montagne of Hemet, Calif., Christopher Montagne of Elk Grove, Calif. and Bradley Montagne of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter, Nicki Stewart of San Jose, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Missi Winter of Las Vegas, Richanne Caballero of Las Vegas and Michelle Martin of Ammon, Idaho; 16 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Cremation and services were held in Las Vegas, Nev. A military service is planned in Bellinghham, Wash.

Melvin Joseph Pete

Melvin Joseph Pete died Wednesday Aug. 4, 1999 in Kingman. He was 81.

Mr. Pete was born on Sept. 14, 1917 in Monroe, Mich.

He worked in dispatch for Great Lakes Trucking Company. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II; was a member of VFW Post No. 995 in Bitely, Mich.; and was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Kingman.

Mr. Pete is survived by: hiw wife, Nancy A. Pete of Kingman; one daughter, Carol Ann Dantzer of Toledo, Ohio; two sisters, Jeanette Russeu of La Salle, Mich., and Hazel Yenor of Monroe, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: one son, Richard Joseph Pete.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday Aug. 6, 1999 at St. Johns United Methodist Church. Cremation will be handled by Sutton Crematory.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Johns United Methodist Church, 1730 Kino, Ave., Kingman, Ariz., 86401.

James O. Eagan

James O. Eagan died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999 in Kingman. He was 83.

Mr. Eagan was born Jan. 25, 1916 in Marion, Wis. He was a farmer and a cowboy. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 10386 in Kingman and American Legion Post No. 388 in Wisconsin.

Mr. Eagan is survived by: his wife, La Van Eagan of Kingman; three daughters, Peggy Eagan and Kathy Jones, both of Neshkoro, Wisc., and Ann Eagan of Flagstaff; one son, James P. Eagan of Phoenix; three sisters, Irene Bosz of Racine, Wisc., Mary Solchenberger of Neshkoro, Wisc., and Anabel Leonard of Vancouver, Wash.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday Aug. 6, 1999 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. Memorial donations can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 317, Spring St., Kingman Ariz., 86401, or to St. Vincent de Paul, 218 E. Beale St., Kingman Ariz., 86401.

Dorothy L. Wright

Dorothy L. Wright, a long-time Kingman resident, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.

Mrs. Wright was born in Portland, Ore.

She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Mrs. Wright is survived by: her husband of 55 years, John Wright of Kingman; two sons, Michael of Kingman and David of Chandler; brother Bob; step-brother Don; two step-sisters, Helen and Ninetta; three grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son John Robert in 1953.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999 at Kingman Missionary Alliance Church, 4435 N. Shadow Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kingman Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for scholarships.

Harry Brice Hughes

Harry Brice Hughes died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999 in Kingman. He was 74.

Mr. Hughes was born in Wewoka, Okla. He came to Kingman from California 39 years ago.

Mr. Hughes owned a business here for 20 years. He was a member of the board of directors of the Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Elks Lodge, chairman of the Mohave County Hospital Building Committee, on the board of directors of the Mohave County Historical Society, a member of the Masonic Lodge, chairman of the Bi-Centennial Committee and a member of the Beale Springs Restoration Committee. Mr. Hughes was a member of the Kingman City Council for 12 years, for six of them as mayor. Many programs were initiated during Mr. Hughes' tenure as mayor. The city sales tax was passed, property was purchased for city hall, the Bonelli House was purchased and secured as a National Historic Site, the "Little Red School" was also declared a historic site, the municipal golf course was developed, the bond issues were passed for water and sewage systems, aeration systems were developed and numerous federal grants were secured. A bridge across Hualapai Mountain Road was built, a master plan for the city was developed, the community school program was begun and 18,500 feet of Colorado River water was secured for Kingman.

Mr. Hughes was elected to the executive board of the Arizona League of cities and Towns, was the first chairman of the District four Council of Governments and was chairman of the Area Transportation Study. He was executive vice president of the Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce from 1982 until his retirement in 1987.

Mr. Hughes is survived by: his wife, Margaret of Kingman; two sons, Russell Hughes of Tucson and Harry Hughes of Tacoma, Wash.; one daughter, Maggilee Loritz of Flagstaff; and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Kingman Cancer Care Unit, P.O. Box 561, Kingman, Ariz., 86402.

No services are planned.

Allen Benson Bridges

Allen Benson Bridges died Friday Sept. 24, 1999 in Phoenix. He was 78.

Mr. Bridges was born July 28, 1921 in Lufkin, Texas. He was a heavy equipment operator, and member of VFW Post 3516.

Mr. Bridges is survived by: his wife, Laverne of Kingman; three sisters; four sons, Dave Bridges, John Bridges and Sam Bridges, all of Kingman, and Joe Bridges of Grizzly Flats, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: one daughter, Audrey; one sister; and four brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999 by Pastor Gene Chewing at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Cremation is being handled by Sutton Crematory.

Jesse Vernon Logsdon

Jesse Vernon Logsdon died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999 in Kingman. He was 82.

Mr. Logsdon was born Sept. 23, 1917 in Detroit. He worked as a supervisor for Ford Motor Co. and was in the automobile industry for 30 years. He also was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Mr. Logsdon is survived by: his wife, Ruth of Kingman; four sons, James Logsdon of Ferndale, Mich., Gregory Logsdon of Marion, Mich., Philip Logsdon of Fort Mohave, and Timothy Logsdon of Kingman; two daughters, Judith Lightfoot of Rockford, Mich. and Cynthia Logsdon of Kingman; one brother and two sisters; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Logsdon in 1979 and Donald Logsdon in 1963.

There will be no services. Sutton Crematory is handling cremation.

Nellie M. Kenney

Nellie M. Kenney died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999 in Kingman. She was 86.

Mrs. Kenney was born on Jan. 27, 1913 in South Prairie, Wash. She moved to Kingman from Camp Verde eight years ago.

Mrs. Kenney worked as a nurse. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Camp Verde.

Mrs. Kenney is survived by: one son, Bill Jascur; step children, Dee Jascur and B.J. Kenney of Kingman; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, Sept. 24, 1999 at Middle Verde Cemetery.

Leonard Edward Carmen, Jr.

Leonard Edward Carmen, Jr., a former Kingman resident, died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999 in Prescott. He was 64.

Mr. Carmen was born Sept. 18, 1935 in Sheridan, Wyo., to Leonard and Clarisse (Zoutte) Carmen.

He lived in Kingman for seven years. He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the V.F.W. Post 10386 in Kingman.

Mr. Carmen is survived by: his wife of 20 years, Winnie; three daughters, Clarisse Marcum of Kingsport, Tenn., Kristine Thacker of Kingsport, Tenn., and Katherine Shive of Ramona, Calif.; son Jason Berger of Ramona, Calif.; sister Catherine Poffenberger of Lanark, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

A private cremation is scheduled.

Norman F. Frederking

Norman F. Frederking died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999 in Kingman. He was 79.

Mr. Frederking was born Dec. 31, 1919 in Grand Island, Neb.

Mr. Frederking worked in the construction industry in Nebraska as an iron worker until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Frederking is survived by: wife Marie (McGown) Frederking of Kingman; two sons, Larry Norman Frederking of Las Vegas, Nev., and Leo Frederick Davis of Kingman; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.
