Walter E. (Gene) James

Walter E. (Gene) James died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999 in Kingman. He was 58.

Mr. James was born on March 9, 1941 in Neodesha, Kan.

He came to Arizona 25 years ago and lived in Kingman for the past 13 years.

Mr. James served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He also worked as a cook and later as a truck driver.

Mr. James is survived by: wife Geneva James of Kingman; daughter Carla James of Indio, Calif.; two sons, Alan James of Riverside and Robert James; two stepsons, Gary Waldron and Ace Waldron, both of Kingman; two brothers, Jesse James of Kingman and Bobby James of Tennessee; and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.

Private cremation was handled by Sutton Crematory.

Raymond Schilling

Raymond Schilling died Saturday Nov. 6, 1999 in Kingman. He was 62.

Mr. Schilling was born on Aug. 15, 1937 in Cheyenne, Wyo.

Mr. Schilling worked for the Forest Service, for the Oatman gold mine and for the fire department as a truck driver. He served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Schilling is survived by: his wife, Jacquelyn (Colquette) Schilling; four daughters, Tammy Robertson and Tina Kile of California, and Kathy Evans and Karen Evans of Kingman; seven sons, Raymond Schilling Jr., Randy Schilling, Terry Evans and Scott Evans of California, Chris Evans and Gary Evans of Kingman, and Kevin Evans of Washington; two sisters, Mary of Sacramento, Calif., and Dorothy of Southern California; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

No services are planned.

Mary Beth Northrop

Mary Beth Northrop died Tuesday Nov. 2, 1999 died in Sun City. She was 77.

Mrs. Northrop was born on Jan. 3, 1922 in St. Louis, Mo. She moved to Sun City from St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. Northrop worked in various office positions including receptionist for the St. Louis Symphony. She was a member of Republican Women and chairwoman of Sun Garden Condo Association from 1984 until 1994. She was an artist and crafter who participated for many years in the Kingman Cancer Fair and the Mother's Day art show in Metcalf Park.

Mrs. Northrop is survived by: two daughters, Sandra L. Minkler of Kingman and Cheryl O'Brien of Chicago, Ill.; and four grandsons.

Private services were held on Friday Nov. 5, 1999 in Sun City.

Rose Mary Olivarria

Rose Mary Olivarria, a Kingman resident, died Monday Oct. 25, 1999 in Las Vegas. She was 55.

Mrs. Olivarria was born Sept. 4, 1944 in Kingman. She worked as a school bus driver and had served in the U.S. Marines.

Mrs. Olivarria is survived by: her mother, Julia D. Torres of Kingman; sister Jennie Meins of Mesa; brother Paul Torres of Indian Springs, Nev.; three nieces; and two nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday Nov. 6, 1999 at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Cremation was handled by Sutton Crematory.

Lige Calvin (Jack) Dame

Lige Calvin (Jack) Dame, a Kingman resident, died Thursday Oct. 21, 1999 in San Bernardino, Calif. He was 82.

Mr. Dame was born Aug. 1, 1917 in Pocohontas, Ark.

He worked for 35 years as a conductor on the Santa Fe Railroad. He moved to Kingman from California seven years ago. He was a member of the Eagles lodge.

Mr. Dame is survived by: wife Genevieve; son Lige Dame III of Gardena, Calif.; stepson Richard Barrett of Moreno Valley, Calif.; stepdaughter Shirley Donnelly of Fontana, Calif.; sister Dora Mae Halford of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be private. Mr. Dame's remains were shipped to Reno, Ark.

Donald W. Crandall

Donald W. Crandall died Friday Oct. 26, 1999 in Kingman. He was 69.

Mr. Crandall was born on May 31, 1930 in Northhampton, Mass. He was retired from a career with B&M Railroad. Mr. Crandall had also worked as an artist designing posters for Barnum & Bailey circus and signs for area mines and other companies.

He moved to Kingman 20 years ago.

Mr. Crandall is survived by: two sons, Wayne E. Crandall and Mark A. Crandall of Kingman; two daughters, Bonnie Hymerblack of Kingman and Donna L. Packer of Henderson, Ark.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services were private. Cremation was handled by Sutton Crematory.

Sallie Mae (Lee) Campbell

Sallie Mae (Lee) Campbell died Saturday Oct. 30, 1999 in Kingman. She was 63.

Mrs. Campbell was born on Dec. 11, 1935 in Hernado, Miss. She was a nurse.

She moved to Kingman from Missouri.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by: three daughters, Earnastine Thomas of St. Louis, Mo., Lore Campbell of St. Louis, Mo., and Yvonne Johnson of Kansas City, Mo.; five sons, James Campbell of Kingman, Dewain Campbell of Las Vegas, Nev., William Campbell Jr. of Kansas City, Mo., Marshall Brown of Memphis, Tenn., and Eugene Brown of Memphis, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday Nov. 3, 1999 at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services were held on Thursday Nov. 4, 1999 at Mountain View Cemetery.

Robert Eugene Kamm

Robert Eugene Kamm died Friday Oct. 29, 1999 in Lake Mead City. He was 48.

Mr. Kamm was born Sept. 12, 1951 in Alameda, Calif. He was a sign painter, who also was a decorated Vietnam veteran and lifetime member of the VFW.

Mr. Kamm is survived by: two brothers, Leslie and William of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two sisters, Loretta of Rufus, Ore. and Joyce of Ashland, Ore. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanie on Jan. 2, 1999.

No service is planned. Burial will be at Chloride Cemetery under the direction of Sutton Memorial Funeral Home.

Cletus B. Hubbard

Cletus B. Hubbard died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999 in Topock. She was 74.

Mrs. Hubbard was born on April 25, 1925 in Hartford, Ark. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Hubbard is survived by: husband, Thomas E. Hubbard of Topock; two sons, Bill Hubbard of Kingman and Raymond Hubbard of Costa Mesa, Calif.; sister Ruby Spain Hartford of Arkansas; and three grandchildren.

Services are being planned for Hartford, Ark. Burial will be at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood, Ark.

Olive Mildred Leoneli

Olive Mildred (Stephens) Leoneli died Sunday Oct. 31, 1999, in Kingman. She was 90.

Mrs. Leoneli was born Jan. 17, 1909, in El Reno, Okla. She was a homemaker, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and VFW Post No. 9833 auxiliary.

Mrs. Leoneli is survived by: her husband, Ben Leoneli of Dolan Springs; two sons, Earl Wallace of Thermopolis, Wyo. and Curtis C. Wallace of Dolan Springs; one brother, Charles Stephens of Everett, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

Visitation and a memorial service for Mrs. Leoneli was scheduled for today (Tuesday Nov. 2, 1999) at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at Southern Nevada Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev.

JB Rogers

JB Rogers died Friday Oct. 29, 1999, at the age of 75.

Mr. Rogers was born March 22, 1924, in Coalgate, Coal Co., Okla., to the late Morgan Green and Vicea Etta (Coker) Rogers.

Mr. Rogers served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 and was among the solders who landed on the beach during the Normandy invasion. Following his discharge, he moved to Blythe, Calif., where he met and married the former Doris Marie Faulkner (later divorced). Three sons were born to the couple, Denis Lee, Danny Jay and David Wayne. In 1960, the family moved to Yuma, where he worked for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation for more than 20 years, retiring in 1986.

On April 2, 1974, Mr. Rogers married Marjorie Pat Hubbard Knight. They made their home in Yuma and later in Kingman.

Mr. Rogers is survived by: his wife, Marjorie Rogers; two sons, Denis Lee Rogers of Rowlett, Texas and David Wayne Rogers of Zebulon, N.C.; two stepsons, Mark and Scott Knight of Yuma; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Cleo, and two brothers, Dirol and Richard.

No services were announced.

Clifton T. Bitgood

Clifton T. Bitgood of Kingman died Friday Oct.29, 1999. He was 86.

Mr. Bitgood was born March 25, 1913, in Voluntown, Conn., to Joseph and Mary (Burdick) Bitgood. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was part of the 29th Division's landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Mr. Bitgood married Bertha Brown in 1942. They lived in Voluntown, where Mr. Bitgood worked at a sawmill. They moved to Kingman in 1971.

Mr. Bitgood is survived by: his wife, Bertha Bitgood of Kingman; one son, James Bitgood of Japan and Maryland; one daughter, Jane Gestrine of Kingman; one brother, Wilfred Bitgood of Spanaway, Wash.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Cremation was handled by Sutton Crematory. Burial will be at Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Norman Allen Nester

Norman Allen Nester (Ellico), a 16-year resident of Kingman, died Thursday Oct. 28, 1999 in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was 25.

Mr. Nester was born Jan. 27, 1974 in Grand Rapids, Mich. He was a heavy equipment operator.

Mr. Nester is survived by: his wife, Elane Marie Nester; two daughters, Chloe Carol Nester and Ashley Marie Thorpe; two sons, Hayden Lee Nester and Philip Tyler Thorpe; his parents, Norman Nester and Beverly Valentine; stepparents, Jeff Ellico, Arlene Nester and Ron Valentine; and brothers and sisters, Jacob Lee, Jason Mark, Richard Dean, Jason Lee, LaNita Jo, Jeramy DeWayne, Jamey Lee and Ricky James.

Bishop Brown will preside over a memorial service for Mr. Nester at the L.D.S. Church at 610 Eastern Ave. at 10 a.m. Saturday Nov. 6, 1999. Interment will be in Calhoun, Colo.

Cards of condolence or flowers may be sent to Beverly Valentine at 1836 Davis Ave. in Kingman.

William Edgar Butler

William Edgar Butler died Wednesday Dec. 22, 1999, in Kingman. He was 61.

Mr. Butler was born Oct. 22, 1938, in Chicago, and came to Kingman in 1988 from Salt Lake City. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed golfing, woodworking and cooking.

Mr. Butler is survived by: his wife, Kathy of Kingman; children Michelle, Robert, Kathie, Melanie, Ray, Stacey, Kelley, and Ric.; his mother, Mildred Fogg of Yuma; Two sisters, Karen and Anne; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service is pending. Mr. Butler donated his remains to medical research.

Douglas Robert Bowman Sr.

Douglas Robert Bowman Sr. died Tuesday Dec. 14, 1999, in Kingman. He was 56.

Mr. Bowman was born April 7, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and came to Kingman 21 years ago from Prescott. He was a concrete finisher and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Bowman is survived by: his father, Robert Douglas Bowman of Prescott; one son, Douglas Robert Bowman Jr. of Ventura, Calif.; one daughter, Kelly Dawn Bowman of Lebanon, Tenn.; one sister, Leslie Wagner of Bullhead City; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at 9 a.m. today - Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999 - at Hampton Funeral Home in Prescott. Burial followed at Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott.

Margaret Florence Hendricks

Margaret Florence Hendricks died Monday Dec. 27, 1999, in Kingman. She was 86.

Mrs. Hendricks was born July 15, 1913, in Lorraine, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Hendricks is survived by: one son, William Hendricks of Las Vegas, Nev.; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. (Nevada time) at Bunkers Memory Gardens in Las Vegas, Nev.

Richard Keith Jacoby

Richard Keith Jacoby, a former resident of Golden Valley, died Nov. 17, 1999 in Prescott. He was 68.

Mr. Jacoby was born Nov. 13, 1931 in Broderick, Calif. He worked in the logging industry, and for 26 years for the California Highway Department in Eldorado County.

Mr. Jacoby is survived by: two sons, Bob Raitt of Grand Junction, Colo., and Raymond Jacoby of Tumwater, Wash.; one brother, Phillip Jacoby of Loomis, Calif.; and one sister, Rae Stuburn of Sacramento, Calif.

Arrangements for Mr. Jacoby, who lived in Mayer, Ariz., were handled by Sunrise Funeral Home. The family has requested any memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association.
