William Carson Jr.

William "Billy" Carson Jr. died Thursday Dec. 9, 1999, in Kingman. He was 45.

Mr. Carson was born July 7, 1954, in Bangor, Me., and resided in Maine before moving to Kingman. He was a member of Kingman Missionary Alliance. He was active in the Special Olympics program and the ARC.

Mr. Carson is survived by: his parents, Neva and William Carson Sr. of Kingman; two sisters, Gloria Carson, a missionary in the Philippines, and Audrey Hetrick of Kingman; one niece; and one nephew.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday Dec. 14, 1999, at the Kingman Missionary Alliance Church, located at 4435 N. Shadow Road. The Rev. Timothy Hagquist will officiate. Cremation was handled by Sutton Crematory.

The family suggests donations to: Kingman Cancer Care, PO Box 561, Kingman, Ariz. 86402, or Kingman Special Olympics, c/o Helen Gilgen, 2301 Comanche Drive, Kingman 86401.

Gale Kim Gillespie

Gale Kim Gillespie died Wednesday Dec. 8, 1999, in Kingman. He was 48.

Mr. Gillespie was born May 18, 1951, in Orlando, Fla. and had been employed as a cabinetmaker for one year.

Mr. Gillespie is survived by: his wife, Michelle Gillespie of Kingman; three sons, Chris Gillespie of Florida; Christian Gillespie and Kasper Gillespie, both of Kingman; one sister, Christi Bellar of Montverde, Fla.; two brothers, Clinta Gillespie of Clearmont, Fla., and Mark Gillespie of Virginia Beach, Va.; and several cousins.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday Dec. 13, 1999, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, also at Sutton. Bishop Brian Turney will officiate. Cremation will be handled by Sutton Crematory.

Irene D. Simmons

Irene D. Simmons of Kingman died Dec. 8, 1999, in Phoenix. She was 83.

Mrs. Simmons was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Clara City, Minn. She had lived in Mohave County for 31 years, coming here from California. She was a housewife.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by: one son, George A. Simmons Jr,. of Kingman; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

No services were announced.

Paul R. Mourer

Paul R. Mourer died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, in Kingman. He was 81.

Mr. Mourer was born on Feb. 5, 1918 in Lake Odessa, Mich.

He was self employed as a musician for 20 years and also worked as a miner in Michigan. He moved to Arizona in 1989. He was a member of Hilltop Southern Baptist Church.

Mr. Mourer is survived by: his wife, Ruth (Linder) Mourer of Kingman; daughter Nancy Phelan of Ohio; son Gene L. Mourer of Ohio; brother Dillon Mourer of Louisiana; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation and funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999 at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at Southern Nevada Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev.

Marjorie M. Yost

Marjorie M. Yost died Tuesday Dec. 7, 1999, in Kingman. She was 85.

Mrs. Yost was born in Trumbull, Neb. Formerly of Sun City, Mrs. Yost moved to Arizona from Colorado in 1975. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Yost was a member of P.E.O.; DAR; Faith Presbyterian Church; Puppet Club; and the Weaving Guild in Sun City.

Mrs. Yost is survived by: her son, Robert Yost of Kingman; brother Edwin Gueck of Scottsbluff, Neb.; sister Mary McClanahan of Sun City West; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 11, 1999, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 16000 Del Webb Blvd., in Sun City. Burial will be at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mohave Museum of History and Arts, 400 W. Beale St., Kingman, Ariz., 86401.

Paul Edward Walker

Paul Edward Walker died Sunday Dec. 5, 1999, in Kingman. He was 75.

Mr. Walker was born on March 9 1924, in Sapulpa, Okla.

Mr. Walker was a clergyman and worked in engineering for the state of Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the DAV No. 10; American Legion Hualapai Post; VFW Post No. 9833 in Dolan Springs; Knight of Phylis; and Knight of Korossin.

Mr. Walker is survived by: daughter Paulette Ellen Smith of Garden City, Kan.; two brothers, Clarene Walker of Oklahoma, and Elmer Walker of Sapulpa, Okla.; four sisters, Mary, Bessie Renickerr of Tampa, Fla., Irene Cosar of Sapulpa, Okla., and Audrey Osburn of Drumright, Okla.; ten grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva M. Walker.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 9, 1999, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Chloride Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the DAV, P.O. Box 3507, Kingman, Ariz., 86402.

Alvin "Witchie" Lloyd

Alvin "Witchie" Lloyd died Sunday Dec. 5, 1999, in Kingman. He was 93.

Mr. Lloyd was born Dec. 1, 1906, in Bisbee and owned a retail music store in Flagstaff for several years. He also worked for other firms in the retail business and played piano for a Flagstaff dance band. He was a member of the Shriners and Elks. He had lived in Kingman since 1995 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Lloyd is survived by: two nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Lloyd, in 1991.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday Dec. 11, 1999, at the Wayside Chapel in Sedona. Pastor Dale Adams will officiate. Cremation is being handled by Sutton Crematory.

The family suggests memorial donatons to a charity of choice.

Terence P. "Terry" Smith

Terence P. "Terry" Smith died Tuesday Dec. 7, 1999. He was 81.

Mr. Smith was born on July 28, 1918 in Columbus, Ohio. He moved to Kingman from New Orleans, La., in 1985.

Mr. Smith earned a degree in journalism from the University of Ohio. He worked as the editor of the Dixie Roto Sunday magazine of The Times Picayune in Louisiana. During World War II he served in the Pacific Theater for the U.S. Navy

Mr. Smith is survived by: daughter Gretchen Sukow of Lexington, Va.; son Sean Smith of Exeter, N.H.; brother Don; two sisters, Molly and Sister Terence; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara.

No services are planned.

Ralph Gordon "Butch" Johnson

Ralph Gordon "Butch" Johnson died Saturday Dec. 4, 1999, in Kingman. He was 59.

Mr. Johnson was born on March 6, 1940, in Chicago, Ill.

He worked as a cabinet maker in the manufactured home industry.

Mr. Johnson is survived by: his wife, Marilyn (Taylor) Johnson of Kingman; one daughter, Sherre Diecks of Riverside, Calif.; one son, Bob Diecks of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Linda Williams of Sequim, Wash., and Phyllis Reitnauer of Glendora, Calif.; four brothers, George Johnson of Pasco, Wash., Gary Johnson of Gig Harbor, Wash., Howard Johnson of Moreno Valley, Calif., and Alan Johnson of Henderson, Nev.; four grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Private services are planned. Cremation will be handled by Sutton Crematory.

Melvin D. Wilson

Melvin D. Wilson died Thursday Dec. 2, 1999, in Kingman. He was 91.

Mr. Wilson was born on April 19, 1908 in Buhl, Idaho.

Mr. Wilson worked in the grocery and retail business all his career except for during World War II when he supervised welding work in the Richmond, Calif., naval shipyards. He then returned to the produce business in Southern California for the balance of his career. Upon retirement in 1972, Mr. Wilson moved to Kingman. He was a member of the LDS Church.

Mr. Wilson is survived by: one sister, Shirley Hill of Boise, Ida.; five sons, Patrick Wilson of San Rafael, Calif., James Daum of Downey, Calif., Robert Daum of Wilmington, Del., Richard Daum of Cary, N.C., and John Daum of Benton, Wash.; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Dorothy; and one son, "Andy" Wilson.

Visitation will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday Dec. 9, 1999, at the Church of Latter-day Saints chapel, 3180 Rutherford Ave. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. at the same location. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

Michael J. Brown

Michael J. Brown died Sunday Dec. 5, 1999, in Kingman. He was 45.

Mr. Brown was born on Dec. 6, 1953 in Utica, N.Y. He came to Kingman from Maine five years ago. He worked at the Kimberly-Clark plant in Yucca. He was a member of the Masons.

Mr. Brown is survived by: his wife, Kathy Brown of Kingman; one daughter, Heather Brown of Buffalo, N.Y.; step-daughter Stacy Caron of Kingman; one sister, Patti Nelson of Marcy, N.Y.; one brother, Brian Brown of Orlando, Fla.; his father, Stan Brown of Orlando, Fla.; two nieces; and several cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Jeanne Brown.

A memorial service will be held on 10 a.m. on Thursday Dec. 9, 1999, at Praise Chapel, 419 Harrison St.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Kingman Cancer Care, P.O. Box 561, Kingman, Ariz., 86402 or to Desert Home Health, 3269 Stockton Hill Road, suite 207, Medical Professional Building, Kingman, Ariz., 86401.

Evelyn L. Sears

Evelyn L. Sears died Wednesday Dec. 1, 1999, in Kingman. She was 84.

Mrs. Sears was born on Sept. 2, 1915 in Canada. She worked as the postmistress for the U.S. Postal Service in Yucca for 20 years. She was a member of the Rebekkah Lodge since 1955 and a member of the Eagle Lodge.

Mrs. Sears is survived by: two sons, Muril R. Hillman of Kingman; Burt L. Hillman of Santa Maria, Calif.; two daughters, Betty Frazier of Phoenix, and Mary Brock of Casper, Wyo.; sister Velma McGlasson of Arcadia, Calif.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Velma Blair, and husband, L.V. Sears.

No services are planned. Cremation will be handled by Sutton Crematory.

Edith Eshom Guindon

Edith Eshom Guindon, a Yucca resident, died on Tuesday Nov. 30, 1999, in Yucca. She was 75.

Mrs. Guindon was born on Dec. 10, 1923 in San Diego, Calif. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Guindon is survived by: husband John G. Guindon of Yucca; son John G. Guindon, Jr., of San Diego, Calif.; daughter Renee McCume of San Diego, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

No services are planned. Burial will be at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, Calif.

J.L. Turner

J.L. Turner, a Lake Havasu City resident, died Monday Nov. 29, 1999. He was 66.

Mr. Turner was born on Sept. 18 1933, in Delhi, La.

He moved to Lake Havasu City two years ago from Emmett, Idaho.

Mr. Turner worked as a driller for Battle Mountain Gold in Battle Mountain, Nev., for 23 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW and Lions Club.

Mr. Turner is survived by: his wife of 44 years, Henrietta Turner of Lake Havasu City; mother Virgil Turner of St. Josepth, La.; two sons, William Travis Turner of Eagle, Idaho, and James Lawrence Turner of Battle Mountain, Nev.; three daughters, Deborah Lee Forsyth of Kingman, Donna Lynn Kellum of Kingman, and Charlotte Estelle Skarpnes of Lake Havasu City; brother Eugene Turner of West Monroe, La.; two sisters, Montez Davis of St. Joseph, La., and Modez Murphy of Snyder, Texas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. today - Wednesday Sept. 1, 1999 - at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.

Quinton 'Scotty' McPherson

Quinton "Scotty" McPherson of Kingman died Saturday Nov. 27, 1999 in Valle Vista. He was 69.

Mr. McPherson was born on April 1, 1930 in Montesano, Wash. He worked in sales and was a member of the Lions Club and Eagles Aerie No. 3744.

Mr. McPherson is survived by: his wife, Laura McPherson of Kingman; two brothers, Don McPherson and George McPherson, both of Arlington, Wash.; sister Mary Witte of Hackberry, La.; two sons, David McPherson of Valle Vista, and Kevin Croft of Carson, Nev.; daughter Lanita Belk of North Glen, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. today - Wednesday Dec. 1, 1999 - at the McPherson home.

Frank E. Van Horn

Frank E. Van Horn, a Golden Valley resident, died Sunday Nov. 28, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nev. He was 67.

Mr. Van Horn was born on Feb. 2, 1932 in Omaha, Neb. He worked for 33 years as a material coordinator in the electronics industry. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Mr. Van Horn is survived by: his wife, Joan M. (Dewey) Van Horn of Golden Valley; son Richard W. Van Horn of Laguna Beach, Calif.; and sister Doris Jean Zart of Omaha, Neb.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday Dec. 3, 1999, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 4, 1999, at Grace Lutheran Church, 2101 Harrison. Burial will be at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Arizona affiliate, 2328 W. Royal Palm Road, suite D, Phoenix, Ariz., 85014.

Andrew Joseph Carlton

Andrew "Roo Roo" Joseph Carlton of Golden Valley died Friday March 17, 2000 in Phoenix. He was 13 months old.

Andrew was born Feb. 12, 1999.

Andrew is survived by: his parents, Sean and Melanie Carlton of Golden Valley; sister Christen Carlton of Golden Valley; grandparents George Byrd, Wayne and Vivian Carson, all of Golden Valley; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A graveside service was held on Friday March 24, 2000, at Mountain View Cemetery.
