Richard Devon Kempton, 41, died June 30, 2002 after a valiant six year battle with a cancerous brain tumor. He was born March 8, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Rick lived most of his life in Green River, Wyoming where he worked for 18 years in the soda ash mines. Being both proud of his work and competitive, he broke his own record 3 times at OCI (formerly Stauffer) running a mine cutting machine.

Rick moved to Lake Havasu City in 1998 where he could enjoy the warmer climate and continue his love for fishing. He also was a wild game hunter and a die-hard football fan.

Rick is loved by a large family and many friends. Survivors are children Chanel (Ross) Busha of Greely, CO, Brooke Kempton of Rock Springs, WY., Katrena Kempton, Shane Kyle Kempton of Chillicothe, MO; stepchildren Nathan Haselhun, Kaylee Haselhuhn of Lake Havasu City; grandchildren Rhyane Hemphill, Hayden Busha, Haley Bartez, Christian Bartez, Taylor Staggs; parents Kenneth and Jan Kempton of Lake Havasu City, Elaine and Lyn Caudill of Green River, WY and Marlene and Jack Cox of Yuma, AZ; brothers Gary (Doris) Kempton of Superior, WY, Shane (Jody) Kempton of Green River, WY; sisters Marcia Bingham, Brenda Barney, Shelly (Jeb) Burnett, Tammy (Jerry) Fennell of Green River, WY. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Rick's family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of Havasu for their professional expertise and loving support.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Green River, WY. Memorials in Rick's name can be made to Hospice of Havasu 355 S. Lake Havasu Ave., LHC 86403.

Frank E. Cochrane, 65, passed away June 29, 2002 in Fontana, CA. He was born August 23, 1936 in Clark, South Dakota to Lyle & Dorothy "Stedwell" Cochrane.

Frank moved to Lake Havasu 13 years ago from Rancho Cucamonga, CA. He was a self employed realtor in Fontana, Ca. He proudly served in the US Army during peacetime.

Frank is survived by his loving wife Pat Cochrane of Lake Havasu; sons Dwayne Anstead of Dana Point, CA and Kurt McCoy of Lake Havasu; brothers Raymond L. Cochrane of Bullhead City, AZ and Glenne H. Cochrane of Fontana, CA; sisters Dorothy R. Sundeen of Fontana, CA and Nancy L. Hammons of Barstow, CA; grandchildren Stephanie Zenisek, Steven Anstead, Jacob Malvas, Courtney McCoy, Christine McCoy and Jamie McCoy and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter Colleen "Christy" McCoy.

A visitation will be held Friday, July 5, 2002 from 6 to 8 pm at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 6th at Lietz-Fraze Chapel with Rev. Richard Rounds officiating. Interment will follow the services at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Herbert Kenneth Counterman, 84, passed away on June 25th, 2002 in Lake Havasu City, Az. He was born on April 20th, 1918 in North Baltimore, OH., to R.V. Counterman and Della J. "McClusky" Counterman.

Herbert worked for San Diego County as a carpenter/cabinet maker in San Diego, CA. for 30 years.

He is survived by his son John Garland Petty of Fort Braggs, CA., daughter Patricia McCollum, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Wilson Hugh Ratliff, 75, passed away on June 28th, 2002 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born on March 13th, 1927 in Foreman, Arkansas to Robert Ratcliff and Dovie "Jones" Ratliff.

He is a self employed painter in San Diego, California for 30 years and moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona 1 year ago from there.

Wilson is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary Ellen "Cue" Ratliff of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, sons Jerry Ratliff of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Steven Ratliff of San Diego, California, Kevin Ratliff of San Diego, California, brother Robert J. Ratliff of San Diego, California, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

No services are planned.

Arrangements were made by the Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Dolores Joann Pickering, 64, passed away on June 27th, 2002 in Lake Havasu City, Az. She was born on August 4th, 1937 to Vital Flores and Mary "Macebo" Flores in Merced, CA.

She moved to Lake Havasu City, Az. l year ago from La Mirada, CA. Dolores work as a checker for Lucky Market in Westminster, CA. for 29 years.

She is survived by her husband John, son Steven of Lake Havasu City, Az., Mark of Corona, CA., daughter Kathryn Wilkinson of Lake Havasu City, Az., mother Mary Flores of Merced, CA., brother Norman Flores of Merced, CA., sisters Lil Clinton of Modesto, Ca., Velma Macedo of Merced, CA., Alice Hampton of Dunmuir, CA., Elevlyn Way of Merced, CA., 5 grandchildren and her dog Krystal. Dolores touched many peoples lives and will be truly missed by all.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, July l3th, 2002 at the Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home at 1:30 P.M. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Rounds. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Dolore Pickering name to Cancer Society of Havasu or Hospice of Havasu.

Wende Marie Richards, 34, passed away June 26, 2002 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was born June 25, 1967 in Long Beach, CA to Ron & Connie "Johnson" Richards.

Wende moved to Lake Havasu 9 years ago from Hesperia, CA. She had worked at the Pilot station for 1 year as a cashier in Lake Havasu. She was a 2 year member of the Eagles and had joined the American Legion in February.

Wende is survived by her parents Ron and Connie Richards of Lake Havasu; son Korey Crutcher of Lake Havasu; daughter Britney Richards of Lake Havasu; brother Brian Richards of Lake Havasu; sister Rhonda McDow of Lake Havasu and her grandparents Frankie Johnson of Riverside, CA and Virginia McClain of Lake Havasu.

Funeral services will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel Saturday June 29, 2002 at 4:00 pm with Rev. Richard Rounds officiating. Burial will be held at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens Sunday, June 30, 2002 at 8:00 am.

Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Louay Nicolas Awad, 39, passed away April 27, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born to Nicola & Rose (Soufer) Awad on October 17, 1963 in Damascus, Syria.

Louay moved to Lake Havasu 3 years ago from Charlotte, North Carolina. For the past 4 months he has worked at the Havasu Flea Market. For 10 years he enjoyed working as a chef.

Louay is survived by his loving family, father, Nicola J. Awad; mother, Rose D. Awad; brothers, Dr. Nick Awad and his wife Hoody Snij Awad and Ziad Awad; sister, Nicole Arnouk and all Awad family and Christopher Awad.

Visitation will be held, Friday, May 2 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Saturday, May 3 at 1:00 pm with Father Lawrence Gaudreau officiating. Interment will follow the services at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Helen B. Gilbo, 90, passed away on April 18th, 2003 at Havau Nursing Center in Lake Havasu City, Az. She was born on October 10th, 1912 in Marlboro, New Hampshire to George and Bernardette (Paro) Everard.

Helen moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 30 years ago from Inglewood, CA;.

She is survived by her brother Francis Everard of Santa Maria, CA; 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

A rosary will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Friday, April 25 at 1:00 PM. Deacon Tom DeFilippis will recite the rosary. A funeral mass will follow with Father Michael Deptula officiating. Burial will take place at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens
