Christine Keel
Christine Keel, 72, died March 24 at her Glendale residence. She was born May 1, 1930 near Williamsburg, Ky., and was an Arizona resident for more than 50 years. Christine worked as a nursing assistant for more than 10 years until 1989 at Valley View Community Hospital in Youngtown. She also worked at the Waitwell Nursing Home in Glendale, at Sun Valley Lodge in Sun City, and did private duty work for various patients throughout the Valley. Christine also lived and worked in Wickenburg from 1964 to 1965.
Christine is survived by her three children, Sharron K. Warrick of Glendale, Ariz., Maudina C. Warrick of Oroville, Calif. and Richard A. Warrick of Oshkosh, Wis. She is also survived by her sister, Marie Lambeth of Franklinville, N.C. and numerous relatives throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina and other Eastern states. According to her wishes, Christine was cremated, and her ashes will be scattered across the desert, which she loved so very much. A beloved mother and friend, she is deeply missed and will be remembered with love always.
Capt. Ray Novak
Capt. Ray Novak died at his winter home in Wickenburg, Ariz. on March 16, 2003. He is survived by his wife Mary (Heckenkamp), four sons and three daughters-in-law: Daniel and Anita, Gary and Mary, Robert and Joyce and Mark. He was blessed with six grandchildren; Heather (Bornemeier), Casey W., Sonia, Nicholas, Matthew and Robert; Grandson-in-law Shaun Bornemeier and great granddaughter Kirstin Bornemeier.
He also leaves behind sister-in-law Jeannette (Heckenkamp) Curie and two brothers-in-law Vincent (Marita) Heckenkamp and James (Monica) Heckenkamp. Ray had four nephews and four nieces and several great nieces and nephews in Washington state.
He was an only child but grew up in Seattle surrounded by many cousins, some of whom still live in the area. His cousins were a joy to his childhood.
Capt. Novak held two licenses: U.S. Coast Guard Unlimited Master License and a Panama Canal Unlimited Pilot License. He began his career with the Coastal Geodetic Survey ship "Explorer" out of Seattle to Alaska. This was followed by service with M.S.T.S. and American Mail Line, ending with his retirement '92 after 22 years on the Panama Canal. He also taught at the Radar School at Ft. Mason in San Francisco.
Ray was a member of the International Organization of Masters, Mates and Pilots, the Counsel of American Master Mariners, the American Mail Alumni Club and was a life member of the Elks, Panama Canal R.P.P.N. Lodge No. 1414.
Ray enjoyed retirement and divided his time between his home at Pt. Ludlow, Wash., and earlier, Sun City, Ariz., then moving to Wickenburg in 1998. His Arizona life was taken up with working out at the gym, visits to Sun City Merrill Lynch, swimming in his pool, meeting with his friends, football betting, and travel.
In Washington he was a well-known jogger on South Point Road. He looked forward to the Pt. Townsend 12K Rhody Run each spring.
Washington was time spent with his family and old friends. He was a proud and happy grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be remembered for his sweet smile, generosity and an aura of serenity that made all who met him feel safe and pleased to be in his company.
Captain Novak has made his last transit and is in a safer harbor with the Master of us all.
Doreen Mae Henrichsen
Doreen Mae Henrichsen, 67, died Monday, March 24, 2003 at her home in Yarnell. She was born September 24, 1935 in Fort Bragg, Calif. Doreen moved to Arizona from California in 1960. She met and later married Kenneth Henrichsen and shared 32 loving years together.
She was an active member of the Yarnell community throughout her 32 years there.
She is survived by her sons Michael, David, Tom, Kevin, Mark and Larin and her daughters Mary and Misty. Doreen is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church, 16455 Table Top Way, Yarnell with Rev. Paul Jones officiating.

Curtis Mork
Curtis Mork, 82, of Salome, Ariz. died March 14, 2003 in Peoria, Ariz. Curtis was born April, 13, 1920 in Montevideo, Minn.
He is survived by his wife Eunice; children Sharon and her husband Steve Giles, Wayne, Donna and her husband Dave, Mel and his wife Sandy, Todd and Brian; grandchildren Joshua and his wife Jenny, Ryan, Jennifer, Austin, Stephanie and her husband Dominic; great-grandchildren Daniel, Pamela, Carly, Elias and Jordan; niece Julie and her husband David and their children Kelsey and Emma and numerous other nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Gladys Mork, Dottie and Phyllis Pearson and dear family friend Truda.
Services were held on March 22, 2003 at the Salome Lions Club. Donations may be made to the Salome Lions Club.
Mrs. Billie D. West
Mrs. Billie D. West, 43, passed away on June 17, 2003. Mrs. West was born on Aug. 11, 1959 in Woodland, Calf., to Dolores and William "Bill" Houseman.
Mrs. West was employed by H&R Block for the last two years and also watched children in her home for the last four years.
She was preceded in death by her third child, Joseph D. West IV in 1996.
She is survived by her husband Joseph D. West III and four children, Victoria Diana Knight Carcioppolo, Charles Dean Knight, Jennifer Rose West and Alexander B. West, and two grandchildren Kayden Dean Knight and Noel Jean Knight.
She is also survived by her parents and three sisters, Carol Houseman, Pam Robbins and Sandy Sweeney.
Memorial services will take place on Saturday June 28, at the First Presbyterian Church, located at 180 N. Adams St. in Wickenburg. Services will begin at 3 p.m.
Robert V. Hancock
Robert V. Hancock, 82, owner of Desert Cypress Mobile Home/RV Park died July 2, 2003 in Laguna Hills, Calif. while visiting his son. Loving father of Robert L. Hancock, D.D.S. (Linda) and Steven D. Hancock. Beloved brother of Dorothy Randolph (Kenneth), Betty Jones, Allen Hancock (Eileen) and Lester Hancock (Paula). Grandfather of Robert A. Hancock and Mark C. Hancock.
Services will be held on Friday, July 11 at 3 p.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church in Wickenburg. A reception will be held immediately following the service at Desert Cypress' Recreation Hall. Private interment will be at Green Acres Memorial Garden in Scottsdale. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Robert's memory or to the charity of your choice.
Fred Campbell
Fred Campbell, 86, passed away on July 2, 2003 in Sun City West, Ariz. Fred was born in Akron, Ohio on Feb. 24, 1917. He had make Wickenburg home for nearly 16 years.
He is survived by three children, Dan Campbell, Betsy Smith and Cathy Drew; three sisters, Gladys Dickey, Peggy Farkas and Faye Whitlatch; nine grandchildren.
No services have been scheduled. Arrangements were handled by Frey Funeral Home.
Ross Ward Hefner
Ross Ward Hefner of Wickenburg, age 81, died on June 27, 2003 in Vernal, Utah. Ross was born on June 9, 1922 to Olin and Nora Taylor Hefner in Byers, Texas. He married Arlene Krein on Oct. 17, 1960 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Ross was an R.C.A. cowboy, bullfighter, roper, and bull-dogger. He served in World War II with the U.S. Coast Guard. Ross enjoyed hunting, prospecting, and most of all fishing.
Ross is survived by his wife, Arlene Hefner of Wickenburg; children Layne and Marsha of Virginia, Jay, Katherine and Troy of Wickenburg; eight grand children and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Dennis and granddaughter Mary Catherine. Services were held on July 2 in Vernal, Utah.
Beatrice M. (Besancon) (Gargan) Young
Beatrice M. (Besancon) (Gargan) Young of Congress, Ariz., 72, mother of Dennis Gargan of Congress, died Friday, July 4, 2003 at Del E. Webb Hospital in Sun City West, Ariz. Born in Westfield, Mass. Aug 10, 1930, she was the daughter of August and Lottie (Surriner) Besancon.
She was a 1949 graduate of Chester High School in Chester, Mass. and was a lifetime member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary of Dalton, Mass. She was the secretary for the Congress Belles in Congress, Ariz.
Her husband Hiram A. died in April of 2001.
She leaves a sister, Bernice Sinclaire of Lee, Mass.; a brother, Fred Besancon of East Otis, Mass; daughters Beverly Rorabach of Windsor, Mass, Darlene Toomey of Florida, Cheryl Gargan of Huntington, Mass.; sons Henry Gargan of Lewiston, Mass, Dennis Gargan of Congress, Ariz.; seven step children, 24 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. at the Community Center in Congress on Friday, July 11.
Danny Pettit
Danny Pettit passed away July 29, 2003 at the age of 52.
Danny was a caring, loving man who put the needs of others before his own. Danny served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and worked as a DPS Officer for 27 and one-half years. Twenty years of this service with DPS was in Wickenburg. After his retirement in January of 2001, Danny continued working at DPS as a Civilian Reserve.
Danny married his wife Debbie on April 18, 1975. Danny and Debbie have two wonderful children, Lisa, 23, and David, 20. Leora is Danny's mother and the one responsible for the caring man that Danny was.
Danny will be greatly missed, but always remembered and loved by us all.
There was a viewing for family and friends on Aug. 5, 2003 at Heritage Funeral Chapel in Peoria.
Memorial donations may be made in Danny's memory to the Lymphoma Research Center or Phoenix Children's Hospital Cancer Center.
David Lee Miller
David Lee Miller, 54, of Morristown, Ariz. passed away on Friday, Aug. 1, 2003. Dave was born June 17, 1949 in Tempe, Ariz. He grew up and graduated from Casa Grande Union High School. After graduating he moved to Phoenix where he worked for Cobra Tire before going into the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He served two years in reconnaissance.
After returning, he worked for PC Manufacturing where he invented not only a paper cutting machine, but several other smaller tools for construction. He helped build factories in several other states for the company. He moved to Wickenburg and learned the plumbing trade and was in it until his death.
Dave was a quiet man, but loved to work on his cars, boat and Harley-Davidson. During his teens he learned from his father and grandfather how to repair not only the engines, but the body of a vehicle. He loved to swim and ski. Riding on his Harley was the thing he loved most, having grown up around his father's bike and then having one as a teenager.
Dave is survived by his son Christopher Shannon of Phoenix; his two daughters Stephanie Deaun Miller of Phoenix and Alicia Lee Miller of Morristown; father and mother David and Eunice Miller of Wickenburg; sister Janice Earls of Wickenburg; brother Mike Miller of Glendale, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his wife Terri Miller and his younger sister Pee Wee Reagan.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8 with funeral service at 3 p.m. at Frey Funeral Home in Wickenburg.
Gerald B. Hall
Gerald B. Hall of Wickenburg, Ariz., died July 12, 2003. Gerald was born December 23, 1914 in Milton, Iowa. Most of his young adult life was spent in Southern California. He was a man of many capabilities. He worked as a tool design engineer and quality control manager in the aircraft industry. He was a licensed building contractor, a skilled carpenter and cabinet maker. He owned and operated the Anza Printing Shop in Vista, Calif. for 22 years. He retired to Prescott, then to Wickenburg, Ariz.
Gerry was always conscientious in everything he did and was a great friend to all. Dorothy, his wife of 55 years, preceded him in death in February, 2000. He is survived by brother-in-law Bill and wife Evelyn Shea of Charlottesville, Va.; cousins Guy, Kathy and Rick Sausser; Cheryl, Scott and Spencer Armstrong of Bakersfield; Gvyne and Jim Cooper of Southgate, Calif.
Reno Borzage
Reno Borzage, 85, passed away on Aug. 3, 2003 in Peoria, Ariz. Reno was born in Sopris, Colo. on Oct. 2, 1917.
He made a career with Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, Calif. as a tool and die maker for 38 years. He was a man who always put family first and a devout Christian who shared his love for the Lord with everyone he met, in words and by example. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wickenburg.
He enjoyed fishing, camping and sports of all kinds.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Pauline; children Terry Lynn Greco and Rhonda Jean Riewer of California; sisters Lillian Zanoline, Elsie Abrams and twin sister Rene Luttrell of California; and five grandchildren, Jason, Gary, Heide, Mark and Jennifer.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Borzage.
Services will be at Calvary Baptist Church in Wickenburg on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003 at 11 a.m. Pastor Gary Golike will officiate.
Contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice or to Hospice Family Care.

Rosie L. Casper
Rosie L. Casper of Wickenburg passed away Aug. 2, 2003 in her home. Rosie was born to Walter L. Duncan and Nancy Josephine (Bales) Duncan on April 7, 1924 in Clarksdale, Texas. The family moved to eastern Arkansas where she met Cecil H. Casper. They married on Oct. 4, 1942 and were married for 57 and one-half years before Cecil's passing.
Rosie was a member of the Gospel Outreach Church. She was also a member of the Morristown Women's Club and the Wickenburg Art Club. When the Wickenburg Nursing Home was open, she and Cecil volunteered there for many years.
Rosie was a very special lady who will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by three children, Glenda Casper of Glendale, Ariz., Ed Casper of Wickenburg, Ariz., and Joan Oltmans of Sterling Ill.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 6 (today) from 9 to 10 a.m. at Wickenburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. at Wickenburg Funeral Home with graveside services to follow at the Morristown Cemetery. Pastor Victor Bedoin will officiate.

Wylie Todd
Wylie Todd died on Wed., July 30, 2003, at the age of 99 years; beloved husband for 64 years of Ruth Davis Todd; dear son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Todd; brother of the late Marjorie Todd Wright.
Since college Mr. Todd was supportive of many charities, traded in the stock market, was active in creating furniture, guitars, jewelry and military knives. He was a member of the Sports Car Club of America, Gun Collectors Clubs and other organizations. Mr. Todd was a descendant of Mary Todd Lincoln, the wife of Abraham Lincoln and of 18th century settlers of Nantucket Island.
Friends called at the LUPTON Chapel, 7233 Delmar Blvd., University City, on Mon., Aug. 4, from 4 until 6 p.m. Committal was private. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to the Salvation Army, 1130 Hampton Ave., St. Louis, 63139; Alzheimer's Assn., 9374 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, 63132 or to the charity of one's choice.
Mr. Todd, a long-time winter resident of Wickenburg, was a charter member of the Los Caballeros Golf Club. He served as a director on the board of the Wickenburg Library Society for more than 35 years. He was also a strong supporter of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum.
Mary Martha Duffy
Mary Martha Duffy passed away July 17, 2003 in Phoenix, Ariz. She was born Jan. 8, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Funeral services will be on Monday, Aug. 11, 2003. at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 232 N. Tegner, Wickenburg, Ariz. Celebrating mass will be Reverend Brian Bell and Reverend David Kelash. Interment will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery, Avondale, Ariz.

Mrs. Elinor Moreton
Mrs. Elinor Moreton died on July 27, 2003 after an extended illness. She was born in Troy, N.Y. on Nov. 6, 1920. She graduated from Emma Willard School and Russell Sage College and worked as a chemist for a number of years. She and her husband Douglas Moreton have lived in Wickenburg since 1967. She was an Elder of the Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband Douglas H. Moreton; her daughters Marilyn Whitney and Cynthia Kuhn; son Bruce Moreton; grandchildren Elizabeth, Matthew and Robert Moreton, Elena and Eric Kuhn. Elinor was loved by all for her lively intellect, gentle good spirit and devotion to her family.
Services will be held in Flagstaff, Ariz. in September.
Edna Welch
Edna Welch, 97, of Wenden, passed away Aug.1, 2003 in Peoria, Ariz. Edna was born June 29, 1906 in Buffalo, Ky.
Mrs. Welch owned and operated Welch's Market in Wenden for many years. She was a seamstress, quilter and member of the ViSaWen Women's Club.
Survivors include her son Joel Welch of Morristown, Ariz.; grandchildren Nita Smith of Chandler, Ariz., Harold Welch of Imperial Beach, Calif., Larry Welch of Phoenix, Ariz. and Jodee Valdez of Vancouver, Wash.; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Dudley Welch.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Wickenburg Funeral Home. Service will be held Thursday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. at Wickenburg Funeral Home.
