Harold H. Hughes, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away January 14, 2001. Mr. Hughes was born March 1, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan, and gave forty years of service to General Motors. He is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife Lorraine, daughter Lynn Brown and her husband Ken, daughter Karen O’Donnell and her husband Dennis, son Dean Radak and his wife Trisha, brother Chuck, sisters Dee Dee and Colleen and grandchildren Tyler and Austin Brown, Amanda, Denny, Brooke and Chelsea O’Donnell and Shandi Henson.

Mrs. Grace Bailey

Mrs. Grace Bailey, 81, of Queen Creek, Arizona, passed away January 11, 2001. Mrs. Bailey, a homemaker born in Edna, Texas, is survived by her husband Guy, her stepdaughter Nancy Catterton, her stepsons Terry Lee, Timothy M. and Tony William Bailey, 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mountain View Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Shirley Bernice Bernham

Shirley Bernice Bernham, 64, of Apache Junction (6 mo.) and Jal, New Mexico (6 mo.) passed away January 17, 2001. Mrs. Bernham, a Postal Worker with the U.S. Postal Service, born in Covert, Michigan, is survived by her husband Robert, daughter Debora Moreno, son Raymond Dale Bernham, sisters Jean Connell, Wanda Story and Dorothy Brooks, brothers John, Richard, Robert, Harold and Frank Brooks, 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Bunker’s Desert View handled all arrangements.

Forrest W. Crouse

Forrest W. Crouse, 74, of Apache Junction passed away January 16, 2001. Mr. Crouse, a carpenter and veteran of the Army in WWII, born in Burden, Kansas, is survived by his wife Mary M. Crouse, daughter Linda Holtsman, son Larry Dorman, 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Bunker’s Desert View handled all arrangements

Walter Sherman Currier

Walter Sherman Currier, 77, an Apache Junction resident for 15 years, passed away on January 11, 2001 in Apache Junction. He was a Union Pacific Railroad engineer for 42 years in Seattle and a WWII Veteran, serving with the Railroad Operating Battalion in India. Survivors include his wife Angeline, son Dr. William Currier, daughter-in-law Gail and three grandchildren, Reid, Emily and Kate Currier of Shelburne, Vermont. Mountain View Mortuary handled all arrangements. Memorials from Sundance Park and friends will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Savannah Lynne Foarde

(Infant) Savannah Lynne Foarde, of Apache Junction, passed away January 10, 2001. Savannah, an infant child born in Mesa, is survived by her parents Jacob Foarde and April Burton, her brother Skyler, her grandparents Kerry Johnson, Debbie Hayes, and John and Sherri Foarde, her great-grandparents William and Lorena K. Hayes, Dan and Charlotte Stidd, Barbara Johnson and Magaret Schultz, and her great-great-grandparents Jack and Hollis Weaver. Mountain View Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Donald E. Glenney

Donald E. Glenney, 89, of Mesa passed away January 15, 2001. Mr. Glenney, an Army Athletic Director involved in WWII and Korean War, born in Union, Iowa, is survived by many nieces and nephews, his brothers Neil and Merle. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Cherry Anne Mitchell

Transition from the earthly plane took place on January 6, 2001 for Cherry Anne Beeler-Mitchell. She lived 50 years; 20 years in Visalia, CA. She is survived by her partner of 25 years, Christie Beeler-Mitchell, her parents, John and Mable Mitchell and her brother, Raymond and his family. She was a graduate of L.A. Valley College where she earned her A.S. Degree along with her registered nurse license. Later, she was to pursue a different course as she became a Certified Financial Planner and opened her own business, Prosperity Planning Services in Visalia. She loved to travel. With her partner, she visited many states, Mexico, England, France, the Caribbean Islands, Venezuela and the Mediterranean. She gave much thought to spirituality and felt her purpose on Earth was to learn. Those who love her, however, will always tend to think of her as a teacher. She wanted others to know that her life was shortened by Ovarian Cancer. As an RN, she urges all women to educate themselves about this disease and get a simple blood test (CA 125) along with their pap smear and mammogram each year. Remembrances may be made to Hospice, A.C.L.U. or California Feline Adoption Foundation, 550 Van Ness Ave., Fresno, CA 93728.

Margaret Laverne Rohrer

Margaret Laverne Rohrer, 75, of Mesa passed away January 15, 2001. Mrs. Rohrer, a homemaker, born in Caledonia, MI, is survived by her husband Linden, her sons Terence and Ronald Rohrer, her sisters May Jones, Mildred Rosser and Melva Oakley, 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Bunker’s Desert View handled all arrangements.

Mildred M. Tennant

Mildred M. Tennant, 77, of Apache Junction passed away January 16, 2001. Mrs. Tennant, a school bus driver born in Muskegon, MI, is survived by her husband Harold, her daughters Sandra Shugran and Jacklyn Benninger, her son Thomas, her sister Marjorie Harris, 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Marvin H. Bantell, Sr.

Marvin H. Bantell, Sr., 92, of Apache Junction, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2001. Mr. Bantell, a transportation manager from Cincinnati, Ohio, is survived by his wife Tencie Lee, daughters Susan Vonder Meulen and Sherrie Homeier, son Marvin H. Bantell, Jr., 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Edith Louise Clinkingbeard

Edith Louise Clinkingbeard, 72, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at Louisville Hospital in Louisville, CO. Edith was born August 21, 1929 in Homer Township, which is southeast of Jamestown, ND. She was the daughter of Henry and Clara (Curtis) Smith. She grew up and attended school in Jamestown, ND. She married Leroy Clinkingbeard at Aberdeen SD in 1946. They lived in Jamestown for awhile, where she worked as a lunchroom supervisor at Washington School. They moved to Fergus Falls, MN and then to Milbank, SD, where she worked at the Ben Franklin Store for several years. They later moved to Apache Junction, AZ, after her husband retired from Ottertail Power Company. They then moved to Lafayette, CO. She enjoyed going to Flee Markets, crafts and traveling. Edith is survived by her husband, Leroy, daughters, Colleen (Dennis) Fode, of Billings, MT and Debra (Tom) Foster, of Fort Lupton, CO, son Rick Clinkingbeard, of Boulder, CO; two sisters, Frances (Leonard ) Rude and Irene Demaray, both of Jamestown, ND, brother, Robert (Barbara) Smith of Apache Junction, AZ, 11 grandchildren, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. She was precede in death by her parents, brother Fred, sister LaVern, daughter Pamela Davis and one nephew. Graveside Memorial Service will be held in May at Highland Home cemetery in Jamestown, ND. Memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Claire M. Folks, 78, of Apache Junction passed away Saturday, January 20, 2001. Claire M. Folks, a homemaker from Baltimore, Maryland, is survived by her daughters Bertha M. Allen, Claire Dix, Rose J. Rak and Doris Henderson, her sons Robert, John C. and Leroy Folks, and numerous grand, great and great-great grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Clara Kuchta, 84, of Apache Junction passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001. Mrs. Kuchta, a homemaker from Chicago, Illinois, is survived by her husband Joseph, her daughters Joan Krucki and Elaine Seamon, her sons Theodore Muth and Don Kuchta, her sister-in-law Lucille Kuchta, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Beulah M. Nephew, 78, of Apache Junction passed away Saturday, January 20, 2001. Mrs. Nephew, a waitress from Breckenridge, MN, is survived by her husband Freddie, daughter Karen Bushee, sons Gene and James Thimjon, 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Johnnie Hugh Singletary

Johnnie Hugh Singletary, 81, of Mesa passed away Friday, January 19, 2001. Mr. Singletary, a truck driver for a moving and storage co. and a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII, from Shawnee, Oklahoma, is survived by his wife Ruth G. Singletary, daughters Sandra Flanders, Grace McKewen, Jackie Kocher and Lizabeth Fouriner, sons Johnnie Singletary, Jr., Clarence Blackherms, C. Wayne Singletary, Joey Singletary and Clifford Singletary, 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Bunker’s Desert View handled all arrangements.

Mrs. Thelma A. Gartland, 96, of Apache Junction, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2001. Mrs. Thelma A. Gartland, a departments store manager, was born in Wausson, Ohio. Mountain View Memorial handled all arrangements.

Duane E. Traver, 74, of Apache Junction, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2001. Mr. Traver, a farmer born in Peoria County, Illinois, is survived by his wife Dorothy, sons Michael, David and Tim, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Helena M. Valade, 90, of Apache Junction, passed away Monday, March 28, 2001. Janet E. Gross, 75, of Gold Canyon, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2001. Mrs. Gross, a restaurant/bar owner, born in Rushford, Wisconsin, is survived by her daughters Sheryl A. Mannikko and Lori G. Mr. Jackson, a supervisor, veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII, born in Chillicothe, Illinois, is survived by his wife Lois, daughters Vicky Wages and Chris Evans, sons Morton, Eddy and Rick, sisters Betty Pruitt, Mary Lathrop and JoAnne Cowling, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Earnest C. Shannon, 77, of Apache Junction passed away Saturday, July 28, 2001. Mr. Shannon, a trim engineer and veteran of the Army in WWII, born in Detroit, Michigan, is survived by his wife Arda, daughters Lenora Shannon, Lonnie Nelson and Dorothy MacIntosh, son Robert MacIntosh, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Elmer F. Binder, 84, of Apache Junction, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2002. Mr. Binder, a chief underwriter for insurance companies and an Army Veteran, was born in Chicago, Illinios and is survived by his wife Bessie, stepson Richard F. Clarke, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Ralph L. Meyer

Ralph L. Meyer, 83, of Apache Junction, passed away in his home after a battle with cancer. Mr. Meyer, born in North Dakota, located to Apache Junction in 1984 after working for the Copper Smelter for 25 years in Anaconda, Montana. He was a staff Seargent in WWII from 1942-1945. He received the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal and two Overseas Service Bars and was a life member of VFW. Mr. Meyer is survived by his wife of 55 years, Genevieve, sister Beatrice Odermann, sisters in law Alma Berg, Lorraine Check and Clara Renfrow, brother in law Omer Michels and many wonderful nieces, nephews and their spouses. Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a nephew.

Robert Markle

Robert Markle, 73, of Apache Junction, passed away Friday, January 25, 2002. Mr. Markle is survived by his wife Audrey, daughters Nancy Cymmer, Wanda Freshwater (Paul Loser), Vicky Wilcox, and grandaughter Molly Wilcox. Science Care handled all arrangements.

Geraldine E. Peterson

Geraldine E. Peterson, 73, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2002. Mrs. Peterson, an employee of Washinton State, is survived by her husband of 58 years Charles D. Peterson, daughters Judith Mitchell, Joyce Gerst, Jacqueline Miner and son Paul Daniel Peterson, 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Her body was donated to Life Science.

Mrs. Plumb, a homemaker, born in Durango, Colorado, is survived by her husband Robert Plumb, daughter Randi Plumb, son Rile Plumb, father Robert Cox, stepmother Virginia Cox, sisters Barbara Durland and Patty Evans, brothers Gary Cox, Randy Cox, Jay Cox, Steven Cox, Stanley Cox and Robert Cox, preceded in death by her mother Doris Cox.
