Mildred C. Wolf, 77, of Tempe, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2002. Mrs. Wolf, a real estate broker, born in Appleton, Wisconsin, is survived by her husband Howard, daughter Susan, Sister Joan Obernesser and 3 grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

John A. Ahmann

John A. Ahmann, 69, a long time resident of Apache Junction, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 16, 2002. Mr. Ahmann was a graduate of Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, served in the military, taught school a short while before working for Kennecott Copper Co. in Kearny, AZ. Mr. Ahmann is survived by his wife Alicia, sister Mary Hallett, stepchildren and step-grandchildren. Mr. Ahmann was laid to rest in Chicago, IL.

Mary H. Stewart

Mary H. Stewart, 84, of Apache Junction, passed away Friday, July 19, 2002. Mrs. Stewart, a retired supervisor of Motorola, devoted her time to her beloved desert home on North Ironwood and worked part time at a local nursery. She volunteered her services at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum for many years and later became afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her son Victor "Scott" Hoskins of Apache Junction, sister Mrs. F. W. Robinson (Joan) of Boise, Idaho, several grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Cremation by Arizona After Care. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Cheryl Lee Sample

Cheryl Lee Sample, 56, of Apache Junction, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2002. Mrs. Sample, a horse trainer, born in St. James, Minnesota, is survived by her husband Wayne Sample, daughters Michelle Mullin and Stacey Aranda, sons Bradley Senf, Scott Senf and Jake Sample, sisters Pam Sawatzky and Linda Robideaux and 15 grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

William E. Metcalf

William E. Metcalf, 85, of Apache Junction, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2002. Mr. Metcalf, a WWII Veteran and BF Goodrich tire builder, born in Bismark, North Dakota, is survived by his wife Stephie Metcalf, son Jim Metcalf, six stepchildren, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Jack N. Cascaden

Jack N. Cascaden, 67, of Apache Junction, passed away Saturday Jauary 25, 2003. Mr. Cascaden a retired Police Officer of Ohio born in Greensprings, Ohio, is survived by his wife Joyce A. Cascaden, sons Steve Cascaden and Brian D Cascaden, sister Caroline Neutzling, brothers Bill Cascaden and Merle Cascaden and 4 grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Wesley W. Faubel, 83, of Apache Junction passed away Sunday January 26, 2003. Mr. Faubel a Pipefitter in Construction born in Wisner, Nebraska, is survived by his wife Virginia L Faubel, daughter Karen A. Faubel, son Warren A. Faubel and grandson David Faubel. Apache Junction Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Carl Lee Hall

Carl Lee Hall, 41, of Apache Junction, passed away Thursday January 23, 2003. Mr. Hall a construction worker born in Akron, Ohio is survived by his daughters Candice Coggins and Natasha Hall, mother Donna Bahn, stepfather Ronnie Tarvin, sister Cheryl Hall, brothers Billy, Mark and David Hall and grandson Shane Coggins. Apache Junction Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Cecil Markham

Cecil Markham, 81 of St. Robert, Missouri, passed away Monday January 20, 2003. Mr. Markham a S.M. SGT. in the US Air Force was born n Ellsworth, Kansas and is survived by his wife Barbara Markham, daughter Patricia Doysher, son Timothy Markham, brother Eugene Markham, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Alphonsine S. Pantanella

Alphonsine S. Pantanella, 104, of Apache Junction, passed away January 28, 2003. Mrs. Pantanella, a machine operator, was born in Brest, France. Survivors include her daughters Mary Louise Bump & Margaret M. Powell, 24 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Frank C. Baranic

Frank C. Baranic, 81 of Apache Junction, Arizona passed away March 20, 2003. Mr. Baranic, a retired farmer and US Marine WWII veteran, was born in Tuscola County, Michigan.

Survivors include his wife Joann E. Baranic, daughters Deborah and Donna, sons Frank, Keith, Perry and Steve, 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Mountain View Mortuary handled arrangements.

Rose Grunig

Rose Grunig, 90 of Apache Junction, passed away on March 16. Mrs. Grunig, a hospital nurse, was born in Beldon, Nebraska.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Jonette S. Barton, and grandson Michael Niddleton both of California. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Glen LeRoy Finkle

Glen LeRoy Finkle, 80 of Shelton, Washington, passed away on March 17. Mr. Finkle, an operating engineer for a chemical plant, was born in Beach, North Dakota.

Survivors include his daughter Glenda Omat, son David Finkle, stepson Daniel Ward, brother Howard Finkle, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Jessie Mae White

Jessie Mae White, 89, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on March 27. Mrs. White, a homemaker, was born in Burburnett, Texas.

Survivors include her daughters Georgia L. Lindee, Wanda Cordes, Margie Pena, Wilma D. Smith and Terry White, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Anthony V. Anzelmo

Anthony V. Anzelmo, 67, of Apache Junction, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2003. Mr. Anzelmo, a computer programmer, was born in Chicago, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Leslie Anzelmo, daughters Elizabeth Leonard and Leslie Brown, sons James and Michael Dolan, brother Philip Anzelmo, and 6 grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Charles Edward Bachtell I

Charles Edward Bachtell I, loving father, brother, grandpa and "Uncle Ed", 57, of Apache Junction, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2003. Mr. Bachtell, a diesel mechanic and auto shop owner, was born in Medina, Ohio. He is survived by his daughter Laura Bachtell of Apache Junction, sons Jim Bachtell of Medina, Ohio and Charles "Eddie" Bachtell II of Apache Junction, mother Beatrice "Betty" Bachtell of Medina, Ohio, sister Debbie Deaver, brothers Gary Kirkpatrick of Mesa, AZ and Kim Kirkpatrick of Mesa, AZ, and 5 grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Frederick Miller Campbell

SFC, Frederick Miller Campbell, U.S. Army retired passed away May 27, 2003, in Mesa Arizona. He was 66 years of age. Mr. Campbell was a military policeman and a training instructor with 23 years of military service to our country. He was a Korean and Viet Nam War Veteran. Mr. Campbell was an Apache Junction resident for the past nine years. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean of Apache Junction, 4 children, Amanda Sword of Apache Junction, Sandra Hernandez and husband Mike of Apache Junction, Frederick and his wife Deborah of Corry, PA, and Marvin and his wife Diann of Corry, PA., 4 sisters: JoAnne Terwilliger of Titusville, PA., Martha Gee and her husband Lee of Wattsburg, PA., Shirlee Nichlos of Corry, PA., and Joyce Johnson of Erie, PA., 1 brother, Ted Campbell of Corry, PA., Also 10 Grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Saturday, May 31, 2003 at the Friendship Community Church in Phoenix. There will also be a service on June 6 at 12:30 p.m. at the National Memorial cemetery of Arizona, Friday, located at 23029 N Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Robert Schmidt

Robert Schmidt, 49, died May 27, 2003, at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital after a battle with cancer. He was born October 22, 1953 in Kansas City, Kansas to Soren Schmidt and Ona Ferguson.

Robert served in the Air Force in Vietnam. He received an associate of arts degree in fire science and a bachelor of arts degree in public administration. He attended the National Fire Academy and received the title of "Executive Fire Officer". Robert was the fire chief for the Ellensburg Fire Department.

Robert married Carol Baker in July 2002 in Livingston, Montana. He was a member of fire departments in Kansas, California, Arizona, Montana and Washington and had a term as head of the Montana State Fire Chiefs Association. His hobbies included music and motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Rachel; sons, Soren and Joel; sisters, Asta and Rebecca Anderson; brothers, George Hagan and David Schmidt all of Kansas City, Kansas.

Robert was precede in death by his brother Steve Schmidt, and sister, Sandra Nichols.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Ellensburg Fire Department Life Support Fund.

Emmett R. Sell, Jr.

Emmett R. Sell, Jr., 67, of Apache Junction, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2003. Mr. Sell, a guard for a security company, was born in Chicago, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Melody Sanders. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

James A. Harper

James A. Harper, 71, of Mesa, passed away August 23, 2000. Mr. Harper, born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was a body shop owner.

Survivors include his wife Bonny Harper, daughters Debra Snodgrass, sons Steven and Douglas, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Bunker’s Desert View Chapel handled the arrangements.

Terry Lee Larsen

Terry Lee Larsen, 56, of Apache Junction, passed away August 24, 2000. Mr. Larsen, born in Salt Lake City, Utah, was a construction worker.

Survivors include his wife Judy, son David Helsley, sister Kathy Moll, brother Lamont and 1 grandchild. Bunker’s Desert View Chapel handled the arrangements.

Dahyabbai Girdharbhai Patel

Dahyabbai Girdharbhai Patel, 92, passed away August 20, 2000. Mr. Patel, a businessman, was born in India.

He was a businessman who spent his retirement in Arizona.

He is survived by his wife Dahiben D. Patel, sons Arvind (Hansa), J.D. (Naina) and Ashok (Urmila), grandson Narendra (Aku) grand daughter Varsha (Hitesh) grandchildren Shilpa, Tanvi and Neil; great grandchildren Ashay, Eshaan and Trusha. Services for Mr. Patel were held August 22 at Green Acres Chapel of Light in Scottsdale.

Doris Irene Payne

Doris Irene Payne, 81, of Apache Junction, passed away August 8, 2000. Mrs. Payne, a homemaker, was born in Lamar, Nebraska.

Survivors include daughters Bonnie Marshall, Yvonne Freeman, Claudine Holgate and Darlene Blank, sons Richard and William, sister Esther Noreen, 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Tommy D. Rheuport

Tommy D. Rheuport, of Apache Junction, passed away August 19, 2000. Mr. Rheuport, born in Des Moines, Iowa, was a carpenter and an Army Veteran.

Survivors include his wife Elvera, daughters Jean Jantz and Kris Jensen, step mother Ethel Rheuport and 8 grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Ralph Rugne

Ralph Rugne, 67, of Apache Junction, passed away August 18, 2000. Mr. Rugne, born in Jackson, CA, was a telephone company employee and a Korean War Navy Veteran.

Katherine E. Trawick

Katherine E. Trawick, 75, of Apache Junction, passed away August 22, 2000. Mrs. Trawick, an Evangelist, was born in Kentucky.

Charles Henry Stein

Charles Henry Stein, 87, of Gilbert, passed away August 20, 2000. Mr. Stein, born in Tama County, Iowa, was a carpenter.

Laurie Elizabeth Kammer

Laurie Elizabeth Kammer, of Queen Valley, passed away August 25, 2000. Mrs. Kammer, and office manager, was born in Pontiac, Michigan.

Survivors include her husband Douglas, daughter Tanya Hawk, son Jason Hawk, mother Amanda Bryngelson, brothers Steve, Tom and Mike Joyce and granddaughter Faith D. Hawk. Memorial donations may be made to Banner Hospice, 1325 N. Fiesta Blvd., Gilbert, Az. 85233.

Rose Bixby

Rose Bixby, 56, of Apache Junction, passed away September 1, 2000. Ms. Bixby, born in Corning, New York worked for the Marc Center with the mentally and physically handicapped.

Survivors include her son Kelvin Tennant, Father John J. Viselli, Brothers Robert, Frank, Thomas, James, and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews. Apache Junction Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Bridgette Bush

Bridgette Bush, 28, of Apache Junction, passed away September 1, 2000. Ms. Bush, was born at Williams Air Force Bas, Arizona.

Survivors include her brother Charles and grandparents Flora and Charles. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marc Center, 924 N. Country Club, Mesa AZ. Apache Junction Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Arthur Custado Manzano

Arthur Custado Manzano, 60, of Apache Junction, passed away August 28, 2000. Mr. Manzano, a Marine Corp Veteran and member of VFW #9399, was born in Norfolk, Virginia.

Survivors include his wife Katherine, daughters Maria Rodriguez, Angela and Alysia Manzato, son Arthur Jr. and Rolondo, sister Yolanda Shatter, brother Sonny and 7 grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to any Arizona chapter of Disabled American Veterans. Apache Junction Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Carolyn S. Silvers Scott

Carolyn S. Silvers Scott, 57, a former resident of Apache Junction, passed away September 7th, 2000. Carolyn S. Silvers Scott was born in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was a Lineworker for O’Sullivan Industries in Lamar, Missouri, and a Eagles Club Member in Lamar.

Survivors include her son Rick Silvers of Mesa, Arizona, three daughters, Stephanie Webb of Norwood, Colorado, Vicky Webb of Show Low, Arizona, Debbie Enochs of Sheldon, Missouri. One sister Dottie Farmer of Carthage, Missouri, and nine grandchildren. Memorial located at Lohmeyer-Konantz Chapel, Lamar, Missouri, September 11th, 2000 at 10:00am.

Dorothy Gwendolyn Worland

Dorothy Worland, 87, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away September 6th, 2000. Dorothy Worland worked as a Cosmetologist and was born in Hill City, Kansas.

Survivors include her son Phillip L. Worland, her sister Jeanne Goff, twelve grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Bunker’s Desert View Chapel, 9702 E. Apache Trail, Mesa, Arizona, handled the arrangements.

Anita E. Chappell

Anita E. Chappell, 94, of Apache Junction, passed away October 20, 2000. Mrs. Chappell, a teacher, was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Evelyn L. Bohr

Evelyn L. Bohr, 74, of Apache Junction, passed away October 17, 2000. Mrs. Bohr, a beautician, was born in Des Moines, Iowa.

Survivors include her nieces Luanne Saboe and Lori Alexander, nephews Lonnie and Larry Pedersen and brother Ivan Pedersen. Apache Junction Mortuary handled the arrangements.

David R. Brandon

David R. Brandon, 65, of Mesa, passed away October 14, 2000. Mr. Brandon, a meat cutter, was born in Carbondale, Illinois.

Survivors include his wife Barbara, daughters Diana Rusnak and Darlene Brandon, sons David and Daniel, sister Barbara Burleson and 10 grandchildren.
