Elmer "Dutch" Dykens, 79, passed away June 17, 2003 in Flagstaff, Arizona. He born April 10, 1924 in Woburn, Massachusetts to Elmer A. Dykens and Mermet V. Townsend.

Dutch became an Eagle Scout in 1942 and joined the US Coast Guard in September 1942. He graduated from high school aboard the weather ship Sea Cloud on a convoy to Murmansk Russia, Class of 1943. He transferred to Motor Machinist Mate school in Groton, Conn. and graduated as 1st class fireman.

Mr. Dykens transferred to the South Pacific aboard the Landing Ship Tank 66 and was in 26 invasions whereas he won 8 battle stars. He was discharged as 2nd Class Motor Machinist Mate and after WWII was over he went to work for the Reading, Mass. fire department, retiring as Captain in July 1973, after 27 years of service.

Dutch moved to Lake Havasu City July 1973 and went to work for Irrigation & Drainage District as pump engine mechanic for one & a half years. Shortly thereafter he went to McCulloch Corp as a security officer for 13 years. For 58 years he enjoyed volunteering in the Boy Scouts of America and during these years, he received the award of merit in Reading, Mass and the silver beaver from the Boulder Dam area Council.

Dutch was a life time member of the VFW and served a two year Stake Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints..

Mr. Dykens married Grace Darr Mason on December 1, 1949 and together they had two children. Grace passed away December 12, 1984.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jayne Keith Beck, whom he married August 10, 1994. He is also the loving father of 2 children, Fire Marshall James Dykens and Janine Dykens Canfield and ten step-children, George Mason, Tami Beck Erickson, Tina Beck Grimes, Rodd Beck, Teri Beck Holmgreen, Tana Beck Creighton, Roan Beck, Rick Beck, Tara Beck and Reed Beck. He also leaves behind 32 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Sunday, June 22 at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 23 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. Interment will follow the services at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Merle Loyde Bobo, 73, passed away Tuesday, June 17th, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Az. He was born July 27th, 1929 in Chappell, Nebraska to Charles and Elsie Bobo.

Merle moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; from Sidney, Nebraska 10 years ago. He was married to LaVonna Bobo for 52 years before he passed away. He was disabled after 21 years of being occupied as a customer service supervisor at Wheatbelt Public Power District in Sidney, Nebraska. He was a member of St. Michael's United Methodist Church, Elks and JayCees. Merle proudly served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife LaVonna "Vonnie" Bobo of Lake Havasu City, Az; sons Monty Bobo and wife Winona of Colorado Springs, CO;Skip Bobo and wife Theresa of Phoenix, AZ; Marty Bobo and wife Luanne of Arvada, CO;brother Roy Bobo of Deming, New Mexico; grandchildren Craig, Shane, Heather,Rayce, Zane, Jack and great grandchildren Shawn, Zachary and Jaysen.

Visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home on Thursday, June 19th, 2003 from 6 to 8 PM.

A funeral service will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Friday, June 20th, 2003 at 12:00 PM, with Rev. Richard Rounds officiating. Burial will take place at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens, Lake Havasu City, Az.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in his name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, Az. 86405.

Jean Isabell Herman, 98, passed away May 9, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. She was born to Phillip & Annie (McCulloch) Sabin on June 26, 1904 in Irving, Kansas.

Jean made Lake Havasu her home 10 years ago, moving here from Pasadena, California. She was a member of the Eastern Star for many many years and also a member of the Pasadena Presbyterian Church.

Jean will be remembered with love for her joy of cooking (especially her pies), her crotcheting and sewing. She enjoyed gardening and lived on her own until she turned 90. She is now resting and cooking for the Angels.

Jean is survived by her loving son, Donald Herman and his wife, Anita of Lake Havasu; 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She is preceded in by her husband, Elmer and two sons, William and Roger.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 16, 10:00 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, Calif.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Gary Leon Erickson, 54, passed away on May 28th, 2003 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born to Neil and Mary Ann (Pullen) Erickson on June 2nd, 1948 in Portland, Oregon.

Gary made Lake Havasu City, AZ; his home 5 1/2 years ago, moving from Lincoln City, Oregon. For 28 years he worked as a switchman and yard master for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Portland, Oregon. He was also a proud veteran of the U.S.Army during the Vietnam War.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Linda Erickson of Lake Havasu City, AZ; two brothers, Jim Erickson of Portland, Oregon and Dean Erickson of Beavercreek, Oregon.

Graveside services will be held at Southern Nevada Veteran's Cemetery in Boulder City, NV; on Thursday, June 5th, 2003 at 12:00 Noon, with full military honors.

Edwin Ray Hunter, 95, passed away May 11, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born to Samuel & Marie (Brown) Hunter on September 16, 1907 in Springfield, Missouri.

Edwin made Lake Havasu his home 10 years ago, moving here from West Covina, Calif. He worked for California Gasket & Washer Co. in Los Angeles for 40 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Madie Hunter; sons, John Samuel Hunter, Edwin Ray Hunter Jr. and Phillip Hugh Hunter; sister, Peggy Eggiman of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Services and interment will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California.

The family ask that donations go to Hospice of Havasu.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Margaret M. Rix, 95, passed away at her residence in Lake Havasu City, AZ; on June 5th, 2003. She was born on July 18th, 1907 in Vienna, Austria to Edmund J. and Martha (Bierbauer) Firlinger.

Margaret has lived in Arizona for 40 years moving from San Fernando Valley, CA. She was a dance teacher for 40 years and also assisted her late husband in their real estate appraisel business in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

She is survived by her nieces Shirley Pawlak and husband Edward of Prescott, AZ; Rae Steele and husband Raymond of Van Nuys, CA; nephews Anthony R. Vackar and wife Cherie of Apple Valley, CA; and John Firlinger and wife Sue of Lake Havasu City, AZ.

A visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Tuesday, June 10th, 2003 from 9 to 9:30 AM with a graveside service to follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens in Lake Havasu City, AZ. at 10:00 AM. Father Charles Murphy will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, Az.86405

Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Alice Mae Housouer 40, passed away Monday, June 2, 2003, at her home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Alice is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Ray Squires of Allied Marine Service; her mother Alva Housouer, and five brothers, Tom, Bill, Eddie, Jerry and Rick, and one sister Linda. Alice was born in Aptos, Calif., and moved to Lake Havasu City 22 years ago. Her family said she was a truly a good person and loved deeply by all of her family and her dear friends here in Havasu.

Memorial services are pending and donations may be made to the Amverican Cancer Society.

Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home made arrangements.
