Vern Edwin Zelmer, 60, passed away on Saturday, March 15th, 2003 at his home in Lake Havasu City, Az. He was born on November 3rd, 1942 and was raised in the Mercer/Wilton area in North Dakota.

Vern proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965. He lived in Bismarck, ND; and worked for Fronteer Directory until 1989, when he moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; with his family and continued to work in the yellow pages for Cannon Publishing until his death. He was also a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge.

Vern loved playing golf, fishing, playing cards with his family and friends and most importantly being with and spoiling his three grandchildren. His gift of gab, good humor and zest for life will be greatly missed. Our hearts are heavy and our sorrow runs deep.

He is survived by his wife Kathy of 35 years; his daughters, Jodi Bjellum and husband Hans Erik of Minnesota; Jeri Gillingham and husband Kevin of Arizona, and his 3 grandchildren Connor & Kaitlyn Bjellum and Bailey Gillingham along with his mother and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Zelmer.

A celebration of his life and visitaion will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Friday, March 2lst, 2003 from 6 to 8 P.M.

Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, March 22nd, 2003 at l:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family.

Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Todd Levi Rodgers, 44, passed away March 12, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born to Alvin & Marretta Rodgers on August 7, 1958 in Decatur, Illinois.

Todd moved to Lake Havasu 4 months ago from Ventura, California. He had been working the past 3 weeks for Checkers Auto Parts in Lake Havasu in the customer service department. Todd was a veteran in the US Army. He also loved bowling and fishing.

Todd is survived by his loving family, son, Jonathon Rodgers of Bakersfield, California; brother, Allan Rodgers and his wife Barbara of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister, Sue Ludeman and her husband Tim of Ventura, California; his companion Dody Foster of Lake Havasu and his dogs, Sally and Bear.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Ralph H. Dexter, 76, passed away on March 12th, 2003 at Havasu Regional Medical Center in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on July 30th, 1926 in Long Beach, CA.

He moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 9 1/2 years ago from West Covina, CA. He owned Valley Sandblasting in City of Industry, CA; for 40 years.

Everyone knew him by "Dex". He was an avid fisherman, loved to do yard work, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. He was also a member of the Eagles.

Dex was a dedicated father and husband. He will be missed and loved by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife Donna Dexter of Lake Havasu City, AZ; sons Robert Keller of Santa Margarita, CA; Brad Keller of Chino Hills, CA; Brian Keller of Nesbit, MS; daughter Tiffany Keller of Lake Havasu City, AZ; and 4 grandchildren, Brian N., Jacob, Joshua and Taylor Keller.

A memorial service will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Friday, March 14th, 2003 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Richard Rounds officiating.

Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Ralph Joseph Simpson 82, passed away on March l0th, 2003 at his residence in Lake Havasu City, Az. He was born on December 25th, 1920 in Brockton, MA; to Lawrence and Mary Ann (Hayes) Simpson.

Ralph moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ. 28 years ago from Brockton, MA. He owned Chic's Bottle Shop in Lake Havasu City, AZ; for 16 years. Ralph was a member of the V.F.W. Post #9401. He enjoyed trips to Laughlin, NV.

He is survived by his son Donald Simpson of Van Nuys, CA; daughter Joyce Lovell and her husband Gerry of Lake Havasu City, AZ; sisters LaVerne McQuinn of South Easton, MA; Evelyn Youdis and Marilyn Kirker both of Brockton, MA; and grandchildren Erin and Kylee Lovell and Paige Simpson. He was preceded in death by his wife Florence Mary Simpson on June 30th, 1991.

A graveside service will be held at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens, in Lake Havasu City, AZ; on Friday, March 14th, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. with Deacon Gil Lopez officiating.

Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Elizabeth "Ann" Elkins, 71, passed away March 8, 2003 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born to Dale & Ina (McCloud) Baker on December 29, 1931 in Buffalo, Indiana.

"Ann" as she was lovingly known by her family and friends moved to Lake Havasu in 1981 from Galveston, Indiana. After 19 years of service with the Lake Havasu Regional Hospital, Ann retired and her and her husband, Wayne moved down to Tucson, Arizona. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge.

Ann is survived by her loving husband, Wayne C. Elkins; sons, Wayne Leroy Elkins of Port Arthur, Texas and William Dale Wyant of Walton, Indiana; daughter Melody Ann Brooks of Tucson, Arizona; mother, Ina R. Baker of Lake Havasu; brothers, Jerry Baker of Dewey, Arizona, Bryan Baker of Lake Havasu and Dwight Baker of Washington; one sister Marilyn Lovelace of Dunnellon, Florida; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her dad, Dale Baker and sister, Goldia Younglove.

A visitation will be held Thursday, March 13, 2003, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Funeral services will also be at Lietz-Fraze Chapel, Friday, March 14, 2003 at 2:00 PM with Jeff Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow the services at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.

The family request donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Tucson.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Shirley M. Van Matre, 59, passed away Wednesday, March 5th, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Az. She was born to Ella and Frank Nichol in Bottineau, ND; in 1943.

She spent the majority of her life in Southern California befor retiring to Lake Havasu City in August of 200l. Shirley worked throughout her life in various finance and administrative positions.

She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother whose every waking moment was spent enjoying her family, especially her grandson Dakota. Shirley was an active member of the American Legion Post 8l Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed traveling in her RV and spending time with her family.

Her loving husband of 32 years, Jack of Lake Havasu City; daughter Shani, son-in-law Jason and grandson Dakota, who all reside in Bowling Green, KY. survives her. Family members said Shirley had many friends and family in Lake Havasu City that she loved very much. She also has extented family in Texas, Washington, California, Arizona and North Dakota.

A gathering to celebrate Shirley's life and friendships will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 8th, at the American Legion Post 8l in Lake Havasu City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Havasu or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
