Erv Tallberg

Erv R. Tallberg of Fountain Hills died Friday, July 16, in Scottsdale. He was 77.

Mr. Tallberg was born April 23, 1922 in Fairmont, Minn. He was a retired automobile dealer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Fountain Hills Noon Rotary Club.

Mr. Tallberg is survived by his wife, Beth, of Fountain Hills; one daughter, Janet Tallberg (Jack) of Arlington Heights, Ill.; one son, Charles Tallberg (Laura) of Phoenix; one step-son, Douglas Woodall (Stacey) of Tulsa, OK; one bother, Bud Tallberg (Shirlee) of Holland, MI; a special friend, Steve McNamara; and three grandchildren.

A private memorial service is planned.

The family is encouraging memorial contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.

John Spacinsky

John Spacinsky of Scottsdale died on July 25, 1999 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea. He was 75.

Mr. Spacinsky was born Sept. 2, 1923 in Chicago. He worked as an aerospace quality control engineer and was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II.

Mr. Spacinsky is survived by his wife, Patricia of Scottsdale; a son, Nicholas Centrella; four daughters, Debra K. Centrella of Fountain Hills, Dhonna Spacinsky of California, Diane Jones of Washington, D.C. and Kathleen Veir of California; a sister, Tillie Spacinsky of Illinois; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mr. Spacinsky will be held at 7 p.m. today, July 28, at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, located at 13001 N. Fountain Hills Boulevard.

George Albert Trigueros

George Albert Trigueros, 74, died at home in Fountain Hills on July 24, 1999.

Born in San Francisco on June 17, 1925, Mr. Trigueros attended public high school and entered the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was wounded in France in November of 1944. He was a member of the 7th Infantry and 3rd Brigade Society.

After the war, he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and Hastings College of Law in San Francisco and was subsequently admitted to the Bar in California.

Mr. Trigueros became the deputy district attorney in San Luis Obispo and Santa Cruz counties before entering California state service, where he worked as a tax counsel.

In 1979, he was appointed administrative law judge by the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, where he served in northern California until retiring in December of 1989.

Mr. Trigueros moved to Fountain Hills in April of 1996 from homes in Ajo, Ariz. and New York City. Two years earlier he was diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas.

Mr. Trigueros was a supporter of both the Phoenix Symphony and the Arizona Opera. He was active in painting and watercolor classes at the Community Center and was a member of the Spanish Club. He also served on the board of directors of the Morningside Homeowners Association. He was also an avid photographer and world traveler.

He is survived by his wife, Susanne Darling, of Fountain Hills, and his mother and sister of San Jose, Calif.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Arlington National cemetery in September.

Memorial contributions can be made to The Nature Conservancy, 5308 N. 12th Street in Phoenix, 85014.

Frank Orrico

Frank Orrico, 81, of Fountain Hills died July 20, 1999.

Born Nov. 10, 1917 in Cosenza, Italy, Mr. Orrico had worked as an oil production forms engineer and later was a sales agent with MCO Realty in Fountain Hills.

He was a member of The Club in Fountain Hills, The Masons and the Masonic Square Club.

Mr. Orrico was a veteran with the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Orrico of Fountain Hills; and brother, Peter Orrico of Calumet City, Ill.

A memorial service was held July 21 at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary. Interment was at National Memorial cemetery of Arizona.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to RTA Hospice, 1102 E. McDowell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85006.

John Baird

John J. "Jack" Baird, 82, died Aug. 2, 1999.

Mr. Baird was born in Toledo, Ohio on Jan. 14, 1917, but spent most of his life in Flint, Mich. He moved to Fountain Hills in 1994.

Mr. Baird is survived by his wife of 59 years, Valentine; son, David of Tumwater, Wash.; son, John and his wife Barbara of Fountain Hills; and son Bill and his wife Pam of Harbor Springs, Mich.

He also is survived by his grandchildren, Jason Baird and his wife Leanne of Fountain Hills, Jana Baird Doggett and her husband Bart of Fountain Hills, and Ashley Baird of Harbor Springs; also, one great-grandchild, Jack Dylan Baird of Fountain Hills.

Private services were held in Fountain Hills. A memorial service will be held in Flint at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Shy-Drager Syndrome Support Group, Inc., c/o Don Summers, 2004 Howard Lane, Austin, Texas 78728.

Seth Brown

Seth Brown, 22, of Fountain Hills died Aug. 2, 1999.

Born April 24, 1977 in Portland, Ore., Mr. Brown was a student.

Survivors include his mother, Nicole M. Brown of Fountain Hills; father, Craig E. Brown of Fountain Hills; brother, Levi Brown, Fountain Hills; sisters, Jessica and Marika Brown, Fountain Hills; paternal grandparents, Boyd and Barbara Brown, Canby, Ore.; and maternal grandmother, Patricia DeKoning of Lake Oswego, Ore.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Arizona Humane Society, 9226 N. 13th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021.

Dorothy Fry

Dorothy E. Fry, 76, of Fountain Hills died Aug. 6, 1999 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea hospital.

Born Oct. 7, 1922 in St. Louis, Mo., she was a retired aerospace quality assurance inspector.

Mrs. Fry was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Elks Club.

Survivors include her husband, Paul R. Fry, Fountain Hills; sons, P. William Fry (Sandy), Rives Junction, Mo. and Thomas J. Fry (Cindy) of Jackson, Mo.; daughters, Marianne Young (William), Alpine, Calif., Paulette J. Weaver (Harry), Fountain Hills, and Marguerite C. Terryah (Thomas), Chandler; brother, John W. Rickermann, Albuquerque, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, John H. Fry, in 1997.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Special Olympics of Arizona, 3816 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.

Evelyn Godin

Evelyn "Lynn" Godin passed to her reward unexpectedly sometime on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, leaving behind her husband of 53 years, three loving children and one grandchild.

Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.

Amelia Misewicz

Amelia Misewicz (Aageson), 98, of Fountain Hills died Aug. 4, 1999 at Life Care Center of Scottsdale.

Born Sept. 10, 1900 in Elwood, Ill., Mrs. Misewicz was retired from the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. after 38 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace, in 1968.

Survivors include her children, Robert of Joliet, Ill., James (Joanne) of Joliet, Marlene (John) Pubentz of San Diego, Calif. and William (Rosemary) of Fountain Hills; sister, Evelyn Lleiwig of Joliet; several nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass was held Monday, Aug. 9, at St. Paul’s Church in Joliet. Burial was at Resurrection cemetery in Romeoville, Ill.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85016 or Life Care Center of Scottsdale, 9494 E. Becker Lane, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.

Kathleen Willoughby

Kathleen A. Willoughby, 48, of Fountain Hills died Aug. 8, 1999 in Scottsdale.

Born June 2, 1951 in Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Willoughby was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Christopher Willoughby of Fountain Hills; daughter, Alexandra; mother, Dorothy Cawby of Sun City; and sister, Barbara Wilson of Kansas.

Private services will be held.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Arizona Humane Society, 9226 N. 13th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85021.

Clayton LaCount

Clayton James LaCount, 77, died at his home in Fountain Hills on Aug. 10, 1999.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a finance director at private schools in New England before coming to Arizona about 28 years ago.

During his career in Arizona he was employed at Native American organizations, most recently the Fort McDowell Mohave-Apache Indian Community.

Mr. LaCount was born May 24, 1922 in Chateaugay, N.Y., son of Lucien and Helen (Fitzgerald) LaCount. He married Gloria Irene Davey on Jan. 25, 1943 in Greenfield, Mass.

He leaves his wife, Gloria of Fountain Hills; a brother, Stanley of Houston, Texas; and a sister, Winifred Merritt, of Proctorsville, Vt.

He and his wife Gloria had six sons, Clayton Jr., Richard, John, Stephen and William of the Phoenix area and David of Natick, Mass. as well as four daughters, Judith Lapointe and Laura Lindsey of the Phoenix area, Jeanne Choomack of Fairfield, Conn. and Kathleen Schuliger of Manhattan Beach, Calif.

Services were held Aug. 13 at Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.

James Spooner

James Spooner, 60, of Fountain Hills died Friday, Aug. 13, at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn hospital.

Mr. Spooner was born May 13, 1939 in Detroit, Mich. He was an automobile part entrepreneur.

Mr. Spooner is survived by his wife, Kelly, of Fountain Hills; three sons, James, Jr. of California, Louis Yongling of Chicago, and Youngh Cho of Michigan; four daughters, Deborah Patterson of Michigan, Tammy Lewis of Arizona, Kristy Wilkerson of Michigan and April Hinojosa of Washington; two brothers, Edward Spooner, Jr. of Michigan and Dale Spooner of Washington; and 12 grandchildren.

The family will hold a private visitation.

Services for Mr. Spooner were held Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary.

The family is suggesting memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, 2929 S. 48th Street, Tempe, AZ. 85282.

Lisa Hopkins

Lisa L. Hopkins, 12, a resident of the Fort McDowell Indian Community, died Aug. 16, 1999 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea hospital.

Born Jan. 16, 1987, she was a student at Salk Elementary School in Mesa.

Survivors include her father and mother, Darvin and Linda Hopkins of Fort McDowell; brothers, Noah Seymore Naves and Darvin Hopkins Jr. of Fort McDowell; sisters, Adrianne Chester, Glendora Chester, Tisha Hopkins, Delilah Hopkins and Clarissa Hopkins; and paternal grandparents, Eldon and Linda Hopkins of San Carlos.

Visitation was held Aug. 23 at the Fort McDowell Recreation Center with a service Aug. 24 at the center. Interment was at Fort McDowell cemetery.

Vicki Merriman

Vicki L. Merriman of Fountain Hills died in Phoenix on Aug. 21, 1999. She was 46.

Born Sept. 22, 1952 in Belvidere, Ill., Ms. Merriman was a registered nurse.

She is survived by her parents, Mary Jo and Donald Merriman of Fountain Hills; a brother, Michael Merriman (Patti) of Scottsdale; and three sisters, Trudy Welborn of Scottsdale, Patty Schwebke (Kirk) of Popular Grove, Ill. and Jackie Merriman (Trisha) of Payson.

A memorial service for Ms. Merriman was held at 5 p.m. last Sunday, Aug. 22, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lupus Foundation at 2001 W. Camelback Road, suite 135, in Phoenix, 85015.

John Roberts

John Roberts, 77, a long-time Fountain Hills resident, died Saturday, Aug. 28, at Florence, Ky.

Mr. Roberts was an employee at the Fountain Hills Golf Club in the 1970s.

He moved to Kentucky recently to be near family and died following a long illness.
