Robert Floyd

Robert Stanton Floyd, 76, of Scottsdale died Sept. 10, 1999.

Born in Fort Wayne, Ind., Mr. Floyd was a retired real estate broker.

He was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, was a Mason in Scottsdale Lodge No. 43 and was a member of VFW Post No. 3513.

Mr. Floyd moved to Arizona 31 years ago from Illinois.

Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth Ann Floyd Davis, Anita Marie Floyd and Patrice Diane Floyd Jones; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be held today, Sept. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Messinger Mortuary Chapel in Scottsdale, 7601 E. Indian School Road. A service will be held at 7 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Shriners’ Crippled Children’s Hospital, Fairfax at Virginia, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103.

Robert Cannella

Robert Cannella of Fountain Hills died at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea on Sept. 22, 1999. He was 56.

Born Nov. 12, 1942 in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Cannella was a retail fish proprietor and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Marie of Fountain Hills; his parents, Rosario and Anne of New Jersey; two sons, Michael of Fountain Hills and Anthony of New Jersey; a daughter, Roseanne of Fountain Hills; a sister, Jane Lohmann of New Jersey; and one granddaughter, Anna Cannella.

A visitation for Mr. Cannella was held on Saturday, Sept. 25, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary followed by a funeral service.

Bernice Roe

Bernice I. "Bea" Roe, a winter visitor of Fountain Hills, died on Sunday, Sept. 5, at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, Ohio. She was 86.

Born April 15 1913 in Galena, Ohio, Mrs. Roe was the daughter of George Glaze and Margaret "Maggie" (Judy) Glaze.

She and her late husband were land developers who operated Roesland Dairy Company.

Mrs. Roe attended Rural Chapel United Methodist Church and was a member of Thunder Mountain Moose Lodge 2475 Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, Paul Kenyon Roe of Tucson; two grandsons, Sean and Kenyon Roe; and three great-grandchildren, Kellie, Korrina and Kristin.

Her husband of 62 years, Harold "Polly" Roe, died in 1994. A brother, Frederick Glaze, also preceded her in death.

A funeral service for Mrs. Roe was held on Sept. 10 in Sunbury, Ohio, followed by burial in Cheshire cemetery.

Julian Iverson

Julian Iverson, 86, formerly of Fountain Hills passed away at his home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on Sept. 2.

Mr. Iverson is survived by his wife, Pearl; two sons, Keith, of Sadie Cove, Alaska and Jon of Kentfield, Calif.; one daughter, Julie Norman of Danville, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Mabel Withers.

Born in Plaza, N.D., Mr. Iverson attended school in Minot before moving to Coeur d’Alene. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and married Pearl Clark of Wichita Falls, Texas in 1942.

In 1978 Mr. Iverson retired from Acme Boot company and moved to Fountain Hills. During the 13 years he lived here he was active in Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, The Club and the Lions Club.

Funeral services for Mr. Iverson were held Tuesday, Sept. 7, in Coeur d’Alene.

Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Village, 1350 W. Hanley Avenue, Coeur d’Alene, ID, 83814.

Michael Butcher

Michael J. Butcher, 49, beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle passed away unexpectedly Nov. 5, 2001 in Lawrenceville, Ga.

Michael was born on Valentines Day, Feb. 14, 1952 in Ogden, Utah to Sara and Donald Butcher.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; son, Nicholas; daughter, Stephanie of Lawrenceville; his parents, Sara and Donald Butcher of Grand Rapids, Mich. and formerly winter residents of Tonto Verde; his brothers, Stephen (Virginia) of Fountain Hills, Joseph (Theresa) of Dewitt, Mich.; and sister, Christi (Greg) Braspenninx of Muskegon, Mich.

Also, nephews Matthew, Adam and Jared Butcher of Fountain Hills, Nathan and Derek Butcher of Dewitt, Mich. and nieces Katie and Meghan Braspenninx of Muskegon, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Memorial services have been held in Lawrenceville and are scheduled for Nov. 24 in Alma, Mich.

Jayne Passage

Jayne M. Passage, 76, of Phoenix died Nov. 7, 2001.

Born Oct. 10, 1925 in New Cannan, Conn., Mrs. Passage was a retired administrative assistant for Wrigley Gum.

Survivors include her daughter, Kim Candea of Phoenix; son-in-law, Rick Candea of Phoenix; and two grandchildren, Taylor and Cameron Candea of Phoenix.

Visitation and service were held at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, Scottsdale.

Christina Beach

Christina Vee Beach died Nov. 9 at Eckstein Center in Scottsdale.

Mrs. Beach was born in Carterville, Ill. and lived in southern Illinois until moving to Arizona in 1989. She worked as a telephone operator and until retirement was a secretary and the personnel director of Norge Industries and the owner of Physicians Supply Company.

Preceding her in death were two husbands, George A. Beach and Albert Ellington. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Carterville, Ill and an associate member of the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one son, Gary L. Beach of Fountain Hills; a stepdaughter, Sherry Moss of Germantown, Tenn.; two grandchildren Gregory L. Beach (Tracey) of Cartersville, Ga., and Leanne Mausey (Brian) of Carterville, Ill.; two great grandchildren, Devin Beach and Vanalee Beach; one niece, Sally Stephens (Richard) of Fountain Hills; a nephew, Tom Adams (Sandy) of Herrin, Ill; three grand nieces, Suzette Lynch, Perette Stephens and Amy Adams; and one grand nephew, John Adams.

Services will be held at Riggin Platt Funeral Home and burial at Hillcrest cemetery, both in Carterville, Ill.

Mary G. Plante

Mary Gertrude Plante, 87, of Fountain Hills, died Nov. 9 at Scottsdale Healthcare hospital after a short illness.

Born May 19, 1914, in Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada, Mrs. Plante was married to the late Rosario Lazaire Plante.

Mrs. Plante served her country as a second lieutenant in the Army as a nurse during World War II. After the war she had a long career as a psychiatric nurse at the VA hospital in Boston, Mass.

Mrs. Plante is survived by two nieces, Grace (Lyons) Roche, of Fountain Hills and Olive (McGrath) Cole of Maine; and nephews William McGrath, Paul Lyons and David Lyons of Florida.

She will be missed by her numerous grand nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Suzie.

Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Ascension Building Fund, 12615 N. Fountain Hills Blvd., Fountain Hills, AZ 85268.

Robert Boomer

Robert Boomer, 81, of Fountain Hills, died on Nov. 4 in Fountain Hills.

Mr. Boomer was born on Sept. 26, 1920 in Lansing, Mich. He was a construction materials salesman in his adult career.

Mr. Boomer served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was a member of the Masonic Club in Michigan.

Survivors include his wife Jacquelyn Boomer of Fountain Hills, stepson Jeffrey Glemser of Phoenix, daughters Valerie Reinhardt of Missoula, Mont. and Robin Boomer of California, 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Edward Smith

Edward Smith, 47, of Fort McDowell died Sunday, Dec. 16.

Mr. Smith was born Dec. 15, 1954 at Fort McDowell. He was a sanitation refuse collector for the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.

Mr. Smith was a member of the We Ko Pa Golf Team and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was an avid sports enthusiast.

Mr. Smith is survived by his mother Nina King Smith of Fort McDowell; two brothers, Benedict Smith, Sr. (Darlene) and Samuel Smith (Sharon), both of Fort McDowell; two sisters, Roberta Smith of Las Vegas, Nev. and Vivian Smith Phillips (Leroy) of Fort McDowell; and nine nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Smith will be held Thursday, Dec. 20 from 7 p.m. to 12 p.m. at the residence of Nina King Smith. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 21 at 9 a.m. at Fort McDowell Gymnasium. Interment will be at Fort McDowell cemetery.

Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Henry Quigley

Henry Quigley, 85, of Fountain Hills died Dec. 15, 2001 in Scottsdale.

Born Oct. 7, 1916 in Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Quigley worked in liquor retail sales for most of his adult life.

He was employed by Dura-Dix, Inc. for 36 years in Clifton, N.J., moved to Arizona in 1971 and worked at Smitty’s Super Market as manager of its liquor department.

He was a military veteran with the U.S. Navy (101st Seabees Battalion).

Survivors include his wife, Yvette M. Quigley of Fountain Hills; daughter, Marilyn Buchholtz; granddaughter, Susan Balli; grandsons, Kenneth and David Buchholtz; two great-grandchildren; and stepsons Paul, Philip, Daniel, David and Mark Search.

Visitation was held Dec. 16 at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary with a service Dec. 17.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Eckstein Center, 9494 E. Becker Ln., Scottsdale, AZ 86260.

Patrice Jones

Patrice Jones, 52, of Mesa, died June 20, 2003. Born in Fort Wayne, Ind. Sept. 1, 1950, she moved to Arizona 29 years ago from Mattoon, Ill. and was a graduate of the University of Phoenix.

Patrice is survived by her former husband, Michael D. Jones; two daughters, Paige Alyson Jones and Autumn Joy Jones, both of Mesa; and two sisters, Elizabeth Floyd Davis of Fountain Hills and Anita Marie Floyd of Astoria, Ore.

Her parents, Robert and Marcella Floyd, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, in Scottsdale. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service.

Jeffrey Chapman

Jeffrey Alan Chapman, 48, originally from Marshfield, Wis., passed away June 22, 2003.

Mr. Chapman, a structural engineer, obtained his degree from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He owned S.E. Consultants, a structural engineering firm. Mr. Chapman was also the owner/inventor of "Funkins," a permanent, carve-able pumpkin enjoyed by families nationwide.

Mr. Chapman is survived by his high school sweetheart wife, Maureen; his daughter, Amanda, 20, a senior attending the University of Arizona; and his son, Nicholas, 17, a senior at Payson High School.

Mr. Chapman is also survived by his mother, two sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Chapman had worked with special needs children for the Fountain Hills School District until she became the representative for her husband’s unique "Funkins" invention.

The family resided in Fountain Hills for 14 years before moving to Payson last year.

Services will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 27, at Messinger Fountain Hills Funeral Home located at 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the "Chapman Children College Fund" at Bank of America (Account No. 004655160948).

George Kling

George William Kling of Fountain Hills passed away June 17, 2003 at age 64 due to heart failure.

He was born Feb. 6, 1939 in Englewood, N.J. to Anne and John Kling.

In 1961, his senior year at Wagner College, Staten Island, New York, he was selected by the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League. Soon after he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served with the 513th Military Intelligence Corps in Frankfurt, Germany.

George was a football coach at Fountain Hills High School in 2001 and 2002 and a member of the Fountain Hills American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, of Fountain Hills; sons Lance Kling of San Diego, Calif., and Bryan Buckmaster of Torrance, Calif.; daughters Paige Brown of Denver, Colo. and Meghan Stephenson of Orono, Minn.; and brother John Kling of Abingdon, Va.

George has six grandchildren, Morgan, Payton and Miles Brown of Denver, Colo. and Revis, William, and Hadley Stephenson of Orono, Minn.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 28, at 1 p.m. at Christ’s Church of Fountain Hills, 15555 E. Bainbridge Avenue, Fountain Hills.
