Frank Koval

Frank Koval of Fountain Hills died on Jan. 22, 2000 in Los Angeles. He was 64.

Born Nov. 2, 1935 in West Pittston, Penn., Mr. Koval worked as a financing accountant with General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC).

He was also a member of the Fountain Hills Lions Club, the Phoenix B.P.O.E. Number 335 Elks Club, the Church of the Ascension Steering Committee and a tax help volunteer in Sunnyslope.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Koval of Fountain Hills; his mother, Alice Kovalaskas of Michigan; three daughters, Carol Barker (Mickey) of Warren, Mich., Kathleen Posio (Richard) of Grand Blanc, Mich. and Pamela Lascoe (John) of Auburn, Calif.; as well as nine grandchildren.

A visitation for Mr. Koval will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. today, Jan. 26, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Boulevard, with a prayer service scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, at Church of the Ascension, located at 12615 N. Fountain Hills Boulevard.

Interment will take place at Paradise Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mayo Foundation for Hepatitis-C Research in care of the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Development Department, at 13400 E. Shea Boulevard, Scottsdale, 85259.

Irene Camwell

Irene J. Camwell (nee Wiechec), 77, of Fountain Hills passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., she graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1941.

She married in 1947 to Robert James Camwell. She and her family moved to Baldwinsville, N.Y. in 1966. She was employed at Onondaga Savings Bank, where she was vice president of collections.

She retired to Fountain Hills with her husband in 1992.

She is survived by her husband Robert; daughter, Barbara Lynne (Andrew) Ness of New York City; son, Robert James Jr. (Judith) of Camillus, N.Y.; and her grandchildren, Ethan, Olivia and Blaire.

A memorial service and Mass of Christian Burial will be held Oct. 12 at Our Lady Help of Christians Chapel in Cheektowaga, N.Y. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary cemetery in Buffalo, N.Y.

Memorial cards can be forwarded c/o Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd., Fountain Hills, AZ 85268. Donations can be sent to the American Heart Association in her name.

Ashley Williams

A memorial service for Williams will be held at 3 p.m. today, Oct. 11, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, corner of El Lago and Fountain Hills boulevards.

Visitation will be held at the church from 1 to 3 p.m., just prior to the service.

Ashley Heather Williams, born April 6, 1985 leaves behind her parents, Kirk and Norma Williams; sister, Andrea Jean Williams; and brother, Shane Grant Williams; grandparents, Basil K. Cundiff and Lenore L. Williams and Robert G. Williams; best friends, Amber Brovelli and Jessica Grant; uncles and aunts, Ken and Beth Cundiff, Bruce and Lori Cundiff, Daniel and Sharon Williams and Kim Marie Evenoff; and cousins, Christopher, Jason, Mark and Kenny.

A memorial fund in Ashley Williams’ name has been established at Community Bank of Arizona, 13404 N. La Montana Drive, Fountain Hills. Deanna Workman at the bank is handling the Williams memorial account.

William Buge

William "Bill" Buge, 83, of Fountain Hills died Aug. 16, 2000 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea hospital.

Born Feb. 15, 1917 in Chicago, Ill., Mr. Buge worked as an attorney during his career.

A U.S. Army veteran during World War II, Mr. Buge was a member of the Knights of Columbus; Elks Club of Cheyenne, Wyo.; bar association in Illinois and Wyoming; past president of Civitan Club; past president of Orphi Club in Chicago; and Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rita; son, William S. Buge (Debbie) of Bountiful, Utah; daughter, Cathy LeMoine (Gregory) of Payson; and four grandchildren, Amanda and Jeffrey Higgins of Payson and Brian and Tiffany Buge of Bountiful.

Visitation was held Aug. 20 at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, and a service was held Aug. 21 at Church of the Ascension. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Mesa.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 420 W. Watkins Street, Phoenix, AZ 85003; or to the Children’s Miracle Network, Foundation Office, 1300 N. 12th Street, Ste. 404, Phoenix, AZ 85006.

Catherine MacDowell

Catherine S. MacDowell, 52, of Mesa, was fatally injured Aug. 18, 2000 in an auto accident in Gilbert. She was born in Spencer, Iowa June 29, 1948. She moved to Mesa in 1957.

Mrs. MacDowell is survived by her children; Brenton Ricketts and his wife, Sunshine of West Virginia, Craig Ricketts of Virginia, Dory Elam and her husband Wayne of Gilbert and Jonathan MacDowell of Mesa, and grandchildren Christopher Ricketts, Elizabeth Ricketts and Adelyn Elam.

She is also survived by her parents Bill and Lou MacDowell; three sisters, Sue Shomperlen (Glenn), Peggy MacDowell-Firestone and Joni MacDowell all of Fountain Hills; five nieces, four nephews, one great-nephew and one great niece.

A private service will be held at Meldrum Mortuary in Mesa on Thursday, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m.

Margaret Dunne

Margaret Dunne, the mother of former Fountain Hills School District Superintendent Walt Dunne, died July 26 at her home in Phoenix. She was 86.

Mrs. Dunne was born Nov. 26, 1913 in Chicago, Ill. She began visiting Arizona with her husband in 1980 and they moved here in 1987. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Dunne is survived by her son, Walt, of Scottsdale; a brother, Joseph Snyder and a sister Marie McGeo both of California. Her husband preceded Mrs. Dunne in death.

Services for Mrs. Dunne were held Sunday, July 30 at Hansen Mortuary in Phoenix. There was a private burial service.

The family is recommending memorial contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix 85014.

Betty Jean Jones

Betty Jean Jones (Timeche) of Fountain Hills died July 27 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea hospital. She was 67.

Mrs. Jones was born May 12, 1933 in Ganado, Ariz. She graduated Ganado mission in 1952 and attended Haskell Indian College for one year and graduated Lamson Business College in 1954. She was a dedicated and loyal employee of both the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Health Services for 34 years retiring in 1989.

Mrs. Jones married Ralph D. Jones on Dec. 25, 1956 and they were together 43 years. She will be waiting in our Lord’s heavenly kingdom for her husband; three children, Theresa of Phoenix, Merlin (Cindy) of Phoenix and Duane (Sharon) of Chandler. She will also be waiting for her brothers, Gilbert Timeche of Oraibi and Bill Timeche of Phoenix, and sisters Laverne Atkinson of Window Rock, Laura Torivino of Second Mesa and Karen Thomas of Glendale. She will also be expecting her granddaughters, Leanne and Ashley and great grandchild, Austin.

Mrs. Jones knew and cared for so many people during her mortal time on earth and she will be expecting all her friends and relatives to join her where she is now feeling no pain, only blessed happiness.

Visitation for Mrs. Jones was held Monday, July 31 at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Aug. 1 at the Fort McDowell cemetery at Fort McDowell.

Helen Knieriemen

Helen Marie Knieriemen, 80, of Fountain Hills died July 29, at Sedona Medical center.

Mrs. Knieriemen was born May 4, 1920 at Yorkville, N.Y. She was a retired construction manager and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Knieriemen is survived by a daughter, Carole A. Alexander of Fountain Hills; a grandson, Matthew; a niece, Joyce Voss of Phoenix; two great-grand nieces Sharon Lewis and Susan Johnson, both of Chandler; and one great nephew, Roy Moser of Chandler.

Visitation for Mrs. Knieriemen will be held Wednesday, Aug. 2, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 Saguaro Blvd.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 3, at 9 a.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Aug. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at National Memorial cemetery of Ariz. 23029 N. Cave Creek Road.

The family is suggesting memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, 2929 S. 48th Street, Tempe, AZ 85282.

Eva Kompar

Eva Kompar, 63, of Fountain Hills died July 10, 2000 in Phoenix.

Born Oct. 17, 1936 in Hungary, Mrs. Kompar was involved with real estate management.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Kompar of Fountain Hills; sons, John (Adel) Kompar of Fountain Hills and Michael (Fran) Kompar of Greenwich, Conn.; brother, Tibor, of Hungary; sister, Magdusch, of Hungary; and six grandchildren – Marisa, Johnny, Alicia, Christopher, Christina and Steven.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today, July 12, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13, at Church of the Ascension, 12615 N. Fountain Hills Blvd.

Interment will be at Paradise Memorial Gardens, Scottsdale. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the American Diabetes Foundation, 9034 N. 23rd Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85021.

Gweneth Draper

Gweneth Draper, 87, of Fountain Hills died June 15, 2000.

Born Sept. 25, 1912 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Mrs. Draper was a homemaker.

Survivors include her son, David Draper of Lakeside, Ariz.; two grandchildren, John and Deanna; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 22, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd.

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.

Susan Russetti

A memorial service was held June 9, 2000 for Susan Russetti (nee Tessmer) in Cleveland, Ohio.

Survivors include her husand, Andrew; daughters, Dawn and Danielle Russetti; parents, Bill and Ruth Tessmer of Fountain Hills; brother and sister-in-law, William P. and Renata Tessmer of Fountain Hills; nephew, Christian Tessmer of Fountain Hills, nephews Alex (Susan) and David (Tara); and brothers, Dale of Phoenix and Bob and Neil of Cleveland.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Hospice of the Western Reserve, E. 185th Street, Cleveland, OH 44119.

Dion Hartsock

Dion E. Hartsock, 37, of Phoenix died in Scottsdale on Nov. 27, 2000.

Born March 1, 1963 in Cumberland, Md., Mr. Hartsock worked as a hotel manager.

He also was in the Army Reserve and a member of Christ’s Church of Fountain Hills.

Survivors include his parents, Grace and Bernard Burl of Fountain Hills; maternal grandmother, Audra Kifer of Flinstone, Md.; and his paternal grandfather, Kenneth Hartsock of Venus, Fla.

Visitation will be held today, Nov. 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary. Interment will be at Prosperity Christian cemetery in Clearville, Pa.

Donald Merriman

Donald P. Merriman, 72, of Fountain Hills, formerly of Garden Prairie, Ill. died Nov. 27. He had been a resident of Arizona since 1983.

Mr. Merriman, a retired farmer and construction manager is survived by his wife, Mary Jo (Stepp); son Michael (Patty) of Scottsdale; daughters Trudy (Bill) Hammond of Scottsdale, Patty (Kirk) Schwebke, Poplar Grove, Ill., Jackie (Trisha) Merriman of Payson; sisters Joyce Sheffield, Marg Sandman, Pat Diehl, Ilene Crowley and Irene Merriman; six grandchildren, Tricia, Brian, Kelley, Katie, Shauna and Casey. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki and brother William.

Mr. Merriman was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, Belvidere, Ill., Safari Club International, Ducks Unlimited and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He enjoyed storytelling, family and his many friends.

A memorial service for Mr. Merriman will be held Thursday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary.

The family is suggesting memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 9034 N. 23 Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85012.

Lee Warren

Lee Warren, 71, of Fountain Hills died Nov. 18 in Scottsdale. He was born in Feyville, N.C. in 1929.

Mr. Warren was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired schoolteacher. He was a member of DECA and the New Jersey Education Association.

A memorial service for Mr. Warren will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Meldrum Mortuary, Mesa.

Lillian Beyerle

Lillian Beyerle, 57, of Fountain Hills died Oct. 1 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea hospital.

Ms. Beyerle was born March 12, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a medical nursing assistant. She was a member of the Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills.

Ms. Beyerle is survived by a sister, Evangeline Gruber, two brothers, Timothy and Dennis Gruber and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private services were held.

Carroll Bullock

Carroll Bryant Bullock, 86, of Scottsdale died Oct. 10, 2000 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea.

Born in Wheatland, Wyo., he was a Marine veteran from World War II. He was in furniture sales and management. He moved to Arizona 13 years ago from Aurora, Colo.

Mr. Bullock is survived by his wife, Marianne; daughters, Patricia J. Burgener of Boulder, Colo., Pamela G. Decker of Boulder and Lori A. Hixon of Wolcott, Colo.; sons, Michael C. Bullock of Englewood, Colo., Jack Bullock of Northglenn, Colo. and Robert H. Bullock of Scottsdale; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Evergreen cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colo.
